    The important lesson here is, "Don't ignore your shadow." If all you do is block out your shadow and refuse to acknowledge it, sooner or later it will come to control you. If you acknowledge its presence and work to understand what it wants, then you can keep it from taking control.
    Luke acknowledged the darkness within himself when he confronted Vader on the Death Star. He understood what it wanted, and because he understood what it wanted, he understood what that would mean and was able to keep himself in check.
    Don't ignore your shadow.

      I guess Luke never had "the talk" about the dark side with Ben. Nor did he talk with him about Vader either. If he did, Ben probably wouldn't have gone on to become Kylo Ren. (Evidence: he worshipped Vader as if he never knew that he was redeemed at the end of the empire's reign, and killed the emperor.) So basically... Luke failed him as bad as the Jedi failed Anakin.

    • @jackbruno953
      @jackbruno953 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      kjf 365 That’s literally one of themes in TLJ, it’s since he didn’t do things differently he rebuilt another temple which would eventually get destroyed again by one student, and the republic will fall just like it did all those years ago, It shows how we needed to learn from our mistakes not repeat them. And so many people miss that in TLJ and it’s why I like it so much. Yoda tells Luke that failure is the greatest teacher etc. and he learns from his mistakes and saves the day. That’s also why Rey is so important that she remains a Jedi. She is the new blood that will change things and learn from the mistakes of the Jedi before her. To say Luke was out of character is ridiculous just cause a character makes a mistake even though he has every right to fear for the life of his friends and students with Ben he knows it’s wrongs to kill him and he doesn’t but either way he was punished for briefly thinking that.
      Luke character went from
      Ending the Jedi order to saving it and making hopefully better in the future with Rey. We see that in the Rise of Skywalker too

      Seriously why didn't they bring him into the Rebels finale?
      X-wing touches down outside (Force theme playing softly) as a hooded figure enters the hangar. He approaches Sabine and Ahsoka as the music builds. The camera follows a black gloved hand reach up and lower the hood. The music swells as the we hear the line "I'm Luke Skywalker and I'm here to help you." Camera gives us a full shot of Luke. Roll credits.
      The series ends with the people who started The Rebellion meeting the man who took up their role and ended the war. Ahsoka meets another Skywalker.
      Sequel series starring Luke, Ahsoka and Sabine searching for Ezra and lost knowledge of The Force. Because Ahsoka being alive the entire OT and never helping or meeting Luke is some bullshit, she's one of the very few who could help him recover old knowledge. Gives us badass Luke and fixes the massive hole of Ahsoka doing nothing after Rebels. Also Mark Hamill as Luke in an animated series which is all I want at this point.

      @@WHlSKYtx Their actions played a major part in the war. They stopped Palpatine from finding a bunch of force sensitive children, giving hope the Jedi could return someday. Ezra directly stopped him from gaining more power.
      Luke's accomplishments wouldn't have ever happened without them.
      The series ends post ROTJ and having Luke appear in the final scene would show that they not only defeated the Empire but set the stage for the Jedi to return. The last of the jedi personally aiding them as thanks for everything they did and lost. If he played a major role he would indeed overshadow them, but appearing for less than a minute as a sequel hook does not. That's exactly why he only appeared at the end of TFA, because everytime he appeared he overshadowed the new heroes and they couldn't find a way for him to not do that.
      He couldn't overshadow them going forward as Kanaan is dead, Ezra missing and we have no indication that Zeb or Hera were going to be in the search. Neither appear in that scene. The only ones to overshadow there are Sabine and Ahsoka.
      Both of whom can avoid that fate by virtue of having a lot to teach him. Ahsoka isn't a jedi but she could teach him of them and their history. Sabine as a training partner because Mandalorians are the best you could ask for and Luke needs all the help he can get to create a teaching structure for students.
      Ahsoka did overshadow the Ghost crew because she was a major character in the series. Luke would be a cameo showing the culmination of their efforts and the future they earned. Proof to Ahsoka that Anakin could be saved.
      There' just too much potential for Ahsoka and Luke to never meet. Never mind the issue that the Rebellion knew about her during the OT and never told him about someone who could help him greatly. That final scene showed that they did win in the end, something made possible by everyone who fought the Empire.
      TLDR it wouldn't be Luke upstaging them. It would show the culmination of The Rebellion by having the iconic star pay his respects and offer his aid to the heroes that paved the way. That their efforts and sacrifices allowed the Empire to fall and the Jedi to return. Now that Jedi returns the favor by helping return their friend.

      I wish they would have made some quality movies rather than using feminism as a hammer to bash their garbage trilogy down everyone's throat. There is so much they could have done with this new trilogy.
      It's all just a bunch of action scenes clumsily strung together by little snippets of disjointed story arcs, most of them not even relevant to the story they were trying to tell. They should have spent a lot more time developing their main cast (Rey, Finn, Ben, and Poe) using the force awakens as a means to actually show each of them individually before ramping up to the 2nd movie where all their paths converge.
      Instead we ended up with maybe an hour of coherent story telling, and character development, with hours of pointless action scenes and explosions. Here is hoping that the next trilogy will be better. Hopefully they will actually have some women writers and directors, or maybe even a team of women, and men that could collaborate and come out with something that doesn't need a dozen books, and comic books to fill in all the blanks, and gaps to make a cohesive story.

That and we could combine stuff from Canon as well, like this comic but with Luke's son and Leia's sons and daughter fighting against the Knights of Ren together. Like that would be so fucking cool if that happened. The Skywalker and Solo Fam fighting together against the Knights of Ren.

      No it isn't do your own research instead of repeating what you hear other people say when they were clearly misinformed about that and been debunked countless times the eu had an anti fragile continuity that's a fact, in reality the opposite is true when canon own films and vida (disney decision to make gameplay canon which causes problems) all contradict one another and even after when the books are trying to fix it tros decide to break the established lore further and saber copters and what not etc... Etc... Etc...
      Can you tell me a straight face with every feat that vader has shown through out his carieer in canon is capable pulling frieghters out of the sky had chewie throwing hands with vader? Then there is force is female some stupid shit like bleeding into lightsaber crystals contradicting how hyperdrive and lightsaber even function disney manage to screw and fuck with their own continuity in a span of a few years and huge living things like a moon being or what ever you may call it although doesn't break anything really, disney canon isn't getting fixed or is far to late unless they retcon or decanoning and rebooting the whole thing over, the eu was never in a state of needing a reboot and a shirtless guy tanking light saber hits any explanations? Nah just accept it dude. Canon is in a mess that is beyond return and it clearly shows the incompetence of lucasfilms and disney currently and it also shows how they hardly care about it as we are seeing in the state that it is in lets not get to much into the vader comics they went to shit quickly especially other dumb business practices that they do it makes the legacy characters look incompetent and that one time sidious was really out of character and scaling is all over the damn place and also struggles to expand on it's own merit.
      If you are saying is a mess because of how large it is that is more your problem rather than the expanded universe as they are guidelines to help you and even a chronological timeline to help you as well.
      "“Unlike Star Trek, which is a series of episodes connected by no central narrative, Star Wars is a single story--"a finite, expanding universe," in the words of Tom Dupree, who edits Bantam’s Star Wars novels in New York. Everyone in the content-creating galaxy of Star Wars has a copy of “The Bible,” a burgeoning canonical document (currently a hundred and seventy pages long) that is maintained by “continuity editors” Allan Kausch and Sue Rostoni. It is a chronology of all the events that have ever occurred in the Star Wars universe, in all the films, books, CD-roms, Nintendo games, comic books, and role-playing guides, and each medium is seamlessly coordinated with the others.””-Tom Dupree, editor for Bantam Spectra Star Wars books article from the New Yorker, Why the force is still with us, January 6, 1997"
      "“In the end, my ongoing vision is that as long as there’s the Holocron, Star Wars will not reboot.”-Leland Chee, Continuity Database administrator aka Keeper of the Holocron for Lucas Licensing, Starwars.com article, What is the Holocron, July 20, 2012"
      "“For Star Wars, we decided that this was a history. Each novel would take place in a certain timeframe, what happened in previous books would have an effect on the current one.-Kevin J. Anderson, EU author, Interview: Star Wars Author Kevin J. Anderson On Jedi Academy Trilogy, Darksaber, & Tales of the Jedi, November 18, 2014
      "
      "At the time, we were all a team of authors. I was in contact with Dave Wolverton, Kathy Tyers, Mike Stackpole, and Tim Zahn, along with Tom Veitch a great deal with Tales of the Jedi comics. We were like a small team exchanging ideas. Tim Zahn would plant something in The Last Command that I picked up on in Jedi Search, and we did that sort of stuff. I’ve been out of the loop for a while, I’m not sure if LucasFilm writers do the same thing now, but we had a great little team who were building the history of this universe. We were like the worker bees building a foundation. -Kevin J. Anderson, EU author, Interview: Star Wars Author Kevin J. Anderson On Jedi Academy Trilogy, Darksaber, & Tales of the Jedi, November 18, 2014"
      "“The thing about reboots is that the two arenas that reboots are successful, one is comic books universes and one is TV series. Comic books universes work largely because comic books sales are generational I mean most people read comics for a span of years from their childhood to say when they get to college. People who come to an event like this, to Star Wars fan days, are exceptions you have to remember that you are not the kind of people I am talking about. But the large audience are in fact people who read until they are college age and then stop. So a generational reboot works and a TV series reboot works because 10, 15, 20 years after the series is dead you have a new generation of viewers. Battlestar Galactica worked that way, the original series aired in 1978 and by the time the new series was done that generation was in its 40s and had fond memories that were pretty vague. But the Star Wars universe is being actively maintained by leadership and a fan base that is vitally interested in what’s going on so it would be an immense pressure not to reboot.”-Aaron Allston, Author for the EU, Star Wars fan days IV October 10, 2011
      "
      Also in your logic the marvel universe as in comics and warhammer 40k are a mess because of how huge they are or what they may have had.
      "r with everything that happened after ROTJ"
      There was no problem with what happened after or else george lucas would've already shot it down.

On the other hand, the quote you provide makes it sound like the EU is separate from George's vision of the Star Wars universe. It is not. The EU must follow certain tenets set by George through the films and other guidelines that he provides outside of the films."-Leland Chee, Continuity Database administrator aka Keeper of the Holocron for Lucas Licensing, on starwars.com December 7, 2005 (In response to the “I don’t read those books” Starlog magazine quote)

      " them being so many author's visions of what went down. "
      Not really they had to read other novels before attempting to do and if they were holes they got managed easily by chee or what takes place after even before the buyout the eu was beginning to pick pace again look up supernatural encounters in star wars which I believe what a shortstory.
      " That and we could combine stuff from Canon "
      Wouldn't work eu never went out of it's way to contradict the films like canon has did countless times same with the clone wars which did it .
      "ke this comic but with Luke's son and Leia's sons and daughter fighting against the Knights of Ren together."
      The knights of ren aren't even that interesting to begin with thanks to the directors own incompetence.

      He already was in TLJ. The movie just doesn't make that very clear. Luke cut himself off from The Force and was still able to completely demolish a small building. Shortly after reconnecting he performed the greatest known feat of force power at the time. It killed him but he still went out as the greatest of all time. Snoke was afraid of him and Palpatine waited until he was dead to try anything.
      Rey and Ben never have that kind of power through their own abilities, just their asspull dyad status and Rey getting empowered by all the jedi including Luke.
      Until shown firm evidence otherwise I'm of the opinion that Luke is still the greatest of all time despite how little TLJ showed us. Too bad our only shot at seeing him in action went the way it did.

    • @SimoneCalloni
      @SimoneCalloni 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@zeroattentiongaming820 I saw him too like that. Luke is feared by Snoke/Palpatine: just wait a sec and think about it. I mean, surely the movies didn't make it totally evident, but the fact that Luke is one of the greatest Jedi - if not the greatest - in Canon is pretty clear if you can understand the film.

    • @zeroattentiongaming820
      @zeroattentiongaming820 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SimoneCalloni In retrospect I think Snoke's entire purpose was to kill Luke.
      Palpatine needed a figurehead to run things while everyone thought he was dead. He didn't need a powerful force use for that. Snoke corrupted Ben and was obsessed with killing Luke.
      Snoke was a way for Palpatine to deal with the Jedi without exposing himself. Luke was clearly a threat and Snoke was the perfect way to eliminate him while staying hidden.
      Luke performed a feat so exhausting that it was unfeasible to even use, let alone maintain for as long and elaborately as Luke did. Rey and Ben being able to project themselves in a similar manner is not something they can control and given their dyad status explains why they don't die from it. Snoke claims to have been behind it but it persists far stronger after his death. He may have helped speed up the process but he was clearly not using a variant of Force Projection on them. Which was the only hint that he was more powerful than Luke.
      Snoke was terrified of him and Palpatine stayed hidden until he was dead. Rey surpassed him when channeling all the Jedi but we have no reason to believe she is on his level otherwise. Palpatine didn't fear her. He feared Luke even during the OT.
      All that suggests that even Palpatine didn't like his chances against Luke. Given his supreme confidence and confirmed status as the greatest of the Sith, there's a fair chance Luke was more powerful than him. He had to be in the same league at least.
      Then there's the old Lucas statements that peak Luke is equivalent to full potential Anakin and the most powerful mortal force wielder in history. Nothing in Disney canon contradicts this so there's no reason to think Luke isn't the greatest that ever lived until shown otherwise.

    • @SimoneCalloni
      @SimoneCalloni 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@zeroattentiongaming820 I totally agree to your statements. You’re literally just taking a few years of his life when he was downtrodden because he had experienced his greatest failure and completely ignoring where that story ended or what happened before it began.
