The Non-Canon Expert looks at the mission Luke Skywalker, Lor San Tekka, and Ben Solo would carry out in search of an ancient Jedi outpost on the edges of the Outer Rim, and explains how this mission would ultimately erupt in a battle between Luke and the Knights of Ren, which would significantly influence Ben's path with the Knights years later.
This is a Canon story for Luke Skywalker, Ben Solo, and the Knights of Ren which can be found within the second issue of the "Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren" comic series that was released today. I hope that you enjoy it!

@@carrier2823 It's actually debatable. First Order are extremist fascists no doubt, however Empire is more like authoritarian xenophobic militaristic regime, which could be applied to many things throughout history. It's no coincidence most of its officers speak with British accent.

@@FlymanMS The British accents come from the fact that Star Wars was shot in the UK. And since English-English is the proper language, it would serve as our analog to the proper "Basic" language spoken in the Galactic Core planets of the GFFA. Much like how posh English accents are used in movies about ancient Romans and Greeks. The Galactic Republic and Empire are based more upon ancient Rome with touches of Nazi Germany thrown in with the Jedi resembling the Samurai caste of Feudal Japan. Not to mention borrowing from Herbert's Dune series, Asimov's Empire and Foundation books, Lensman, and Flash Gordon.
So the Knights of Ren pretty much get stomped by anyone with proper Force training

I wonder how much of that is true and how much of it he's just making up as a way to manipulate Ben. After all, we know that he's just an empty puppet that Palpatine speaking through and was created in a test tube now. How much character can this guy honestly have?
Daniel Charland I say it half and half palpatine use snoke in order to learn and influence the state of affairs of the galaxy since his return made him incapable to do so himself and divert his focus on his final order
What if Ben named him Snoke at a young age? If he was communicating with Ben from a very early age, it's possible that Ben gave him a silly name like Snoke, and Snoke decided to keep it in order to encourage Ben to follow him.

Looking at how easily Luke beat the Knights without killing them, it puts into perspective how easily Ben killed them. I was a bit let down.
I was too, but I think it was a clever in-universe way to explain why they were defeated so swiftly. They have no guidance, just raw and wild energy without direction. Sure it makes them a little weak, but I think it also makes them unpredictable and savage which is a nice touch
its kind of a star wars trope where people who have really cool and badass aesthetics actually turn out to be pushovers
back in the original trilogy we had boba fett whose claim to fame was felling into a sarlacc
in the prequel trilogy it was grievous who was sold on being a super deadly jedi hunter and got his ass kicked by obi wan

Jack Eisenberg Against regular fighters, sure. But the movies hyped up the Knights so much and Kylo was their leader. He was supposed to be a reflection of them. This comic proves they’re pushovers. They didn’t give Luke a decent fight.

Do we need to know the specifics of how Snoke slowly manipulated Ben to join him? We didn't need specifics of what happened to Vader in the originals, we knew enough.
Just saying that the new rumors about the next series of Star Wars movies involve the High Republic Era, 400 years earlier during a time when the Jedi spent some time exploring the Unknown Regions. Here we have a mention of the High Republic, a bunch of Jedi artifacts that never made it to the Jedi Order proper, hidden away on a world close to unexplored space..

Great comment here IO! I'll have to check out those rumors, but Jedi lore (I saw at least one Sith holocron in there too!), the Unknown Regions, and potential for a group of Jedi who "distanced" themselves from the main Order (or at least never made it back), sounds very interesting indeed.
I've even heard we might get a younger Yoda in this movie because it is set around 4-5 hundred years ago today would still be a Jedi master at the time if not the grandmaster of the order super excited to see what they will do maybe see Yoda fight some dark Jedi maybe get a few peaks of the two sith Lords at the time
That would suck. I want revan and malek, or nihilius. That wouldnt be star wars. Since it was still rule of two then and the sith were hidden. Sounds lame

I like that a big part of Luke's time after the Empire fell was trying to recover all the lost information and artifacts of the old Jedi, as Palpatine pretty much erased the memory of their existence from history.
Too bad what he actually found out about the order differed from the glorified version Obi-Wan and Yoda told him about, which just fueled his resentment towards the Jedi. Even more when he found out his father's fall to the dark side wasn't just the emperor's fault.
I like how the Knights of Ren resemble a lot of Palpatine's lackeys from "Dark Empire". That had to be deliberate.
Similar to how Luke owned the Lost tribe of the sith in the legacy era
Apollo C still pissed that all of those previous stories from novels, to comics, to books are now not considered cannon.

I really wish there was some show, or movie like the comics, the chance to further develop characters like Kylo/Ben and Snoke on the screen would be a great chance to introduce other fans to the deeper working of the Sw series
Same. I've been wanting to see Luke and Ben's bond for a long time. The Clone Wars series fleshed out Anakin and Obi-Wan much better than the prequels did. We FOR SURE need something like this for Luke and Ben.
I love how obvious it is the deeper comic version of these knights was clearly conceived after they were simple guards in the movie. The comic version feels absolutely nothing like the movie.
