  • In this video it's time for some 'pub grub' that also has been voted as Englands most popular comfort food, Bangers and Mash. As usual I adjusted it for the outdoor kitchen and as an added bonus I found some hedgehog mushrooms to include in my serving.
    Recipe:
2 Sausages of your prefered kind
3 potatoes of a floury variety
    ½-1 dl milk
    ½ dl green peas
    1 small onion
    Butter
    Salt, Pepper
    Nutmeg
    Soy sauce

    Thanks for watching!

👍👍👍 .. Bangers and Mash Comfort Food always Yummy 😊.
Great minds .. I had Bangers and Mash last night, albeit prepared in the kitchen. The leftover mash, not wanting it to go to waste, was this morning, mixed in with chopped onion, herbs and spices and an egg and fried up on the Trangia Mini on the Flat Balcony.
👍 regarding the Zip Tie mention .. thanks.
An alternative to cooking up bangers is the boil them 😳 .. yes 😏, pan boil them in water half-covered, turning frequently until the water in the pan has boiled away. The fat that seeps from the sausages is, depending on the sausage type, enough to grill nicely, the outside. One can always add some grease if so required. The result is a deliciously succulent properly cooked interior with a nice crisp outer skin.
Onions .. I like to add sugar to my fried onions towards the end of the cooking process. Enhances the caramelising and sweetens the end result.
Another good one. Thanks for sharing .. take care ..

In those rare cases we get any leftover mash at home I like it as a cover for 'pies' as in sheperds pie, or as fry it as a patty cake to bacon. Cheers Thomas!

That was quite an accomplishment on a mini. Hope it tasted as good as it looked.

Maybe we need to cook as you have done here to really appreciate such tasty food. Slow, take your time cooking with care and thought. It knocks into a cocked hat pouring boiling water into one of those freeze dried packs! I want to go buy some sausages now! 😋

Freeze dried food has some perks but if it's possible I'd rather "cook for real". I appreciate the food so much more that way and the humblest one you cook on site generally tastes better than even the best freeze dried meal. Cheers!

I had to chuckle when reading the title. Even though I've been vegetarian for years I still occasionally make veggy bangers and mash, must be ingrained into my psyche! Great way to make the gravy, I might do it with a bit of Marmite rather than mushroom sauce.
Excellent effort and it sounds like one hell of a party in the background!

Thanks! I must confess that several britts and aussies have tried to hook me on Marmite and Veggiemite but it's still remains a mystery to me. Cheers!

I think it's a good feed any season, but the shift between winter and spring is probably the best for some reason. Cheers Mate!

This looks exactly like my definition of fun! If you do not mind me asking, can you give me details about the mini? It looks lightweight and like a good choice for hiking, camping, or just wandering about.

try a Scottish fried breakfast. stornoway black pudding, haggis, square sausage, potato scone, fried egg, beans, fried mushrooms, fried tomatoes

I've had it in Edinborough years ago Andrew. Unfortunately both black pudding and haggis are hard to come by over here, and I really don't like baked beans the way the come from the can, I'd eat them any other way or bake them myself if it come to that. Cheers!

Jag brukar koka potatisen med skal på även till mos. Det blir lite skal i moset förstås men jag tycker det är ganska ok. Favorit korven är hemgårdens snickarkorv, rejält röksmak 😊

Is there a samba band practicing near you there? I can hear faintly in the background. Oh yes, Bangers & Mash are a very old popular dish with peas or beans and a god thick gravy - an ale gravy is preferred. Bon Appetite.

You're close to the truth, there's a band playing at the marathon and sometimes you can hear a speakervoice. I think there's aproximately 2 km to them but the sound carried all the way to my site. Ale-gravy, that sounds like something I want to try. Cheers!
