I havent seen the cheap ones you mention so I can't compare them. I was planning to buy Trangias Mess Tin but then I realized that I already had a good tin at home, so the only thing now is to get myself an extra handle. Cheers!
👍👍👍 Nice and simple .. and, from own experience, yummy (as it should be 😏). Takes me back to the 60's, sitting with my late Mom at the Kitchen Table, 2-3am on a Saturday Morning (no School that day .. first day of the school holidays from boarding school or in the later 60's, having just hitch-hiked the 560-odd km from my Military Base in Bloemfontein down to Pietermaritzburg on a weekend pass) .. sitting eating freshly-made egg and bacon / polony sandwiches, washed down with hot, sweet tea and 'catching up' on events. Thanks for sharing .. and re-awakening those memories, long since filed away. Take care ..
Your video came at a great time as here in the eastern states we have rain.Whats better on a rain day then watch a great camping -cooking video. Thanks for sharing 😊
Have you seen the new Trangia micro 500ml pot/cup that's just come out? Ive ordered one for my Trangia Mini, as it's meant to fit in that, or stand alone with the mini stand, which nests inside the cup. Your food looked delicious by the way, tack!
I've seen it but from what I can understand the micro cant fit inside a mini. It will fit the mini stand though. If you're only need to boil ½ liter of water it's a light wheight alternativ but for now I don't see myself getting one. (I might change my mind later on...) Cheers
I hope it fits, but now you're making me question that! It'll need the handle and lid taking off to fit inside the mini, but I'll see when it arrives and let you know. I'm planning to use it as a mug for tea when I camp, and then use the pan and frying pan as normal. It's meant to fit on the triangle too, but like you say, you maybe don't actually need one.
I must confess that I have way more mess kits than I actually 'need'. I'm more like Gollum: "We wants it!" ;-) Please let us know if it fits, it would be a pleasant surprise and maybe I release my inner Gollum once more. Cheers!
So, whilst I'm not trying to encourage your Gollum tendencies, this is my run down. The micro trangia pan comes with a handle and a lid, and the lid is the same size as the 25 kettle. You can also buy the pan with no handle or lid. The burner and base to the mini fit inside nicely, and make a tiny stove, suitable for making a cup of tea, or boiling water for a dehydrated meal. I think you'd struggle to cook anything more elaborate in it. The handle folds over the top of the lid and keeps that on when it's in your bag. The micro pan sort of fits inside the mini pan, but you need to take the handle and lid off, and store them loose in the bag. The lid won't fit inside the mini. I have copied your tiny chopping board idea and added that between the frying pan and the micro and mini pans to stop them scratching the non stick. The mini handle doesn't fit inside the mini if the micro pan is in there. I also tried the micro inside my 27 and it didn't fit in there at all, unless I removed the kettle. So if you want a tiny stove and pan, it's great, but it only sort of works in the mini if you dismantle it a bit.
@@sarahs784 It would have been very good if everything would have nested in the mini pot but I recon it isn't too bad keeping it on the side. One can't win 'em all I guess. Thanks for the run down, I really appreciate it. For the moment Gollum is keeping his peace. Cheers!
The international varieties that are most similar is probably lyoner wurst or bologna sausage, but you can use any type that you have handy. This is just the tradition in Sweden, I'm sure your choice will be fabulous. Cheers!
Nice one Redswede! I love the little spice divider thing too, that'd be really useful. I found one that's similar but not quite as good as yours, it's not refillable either. Thanks for the upload! Tips and advice, hmmm, be yourself, you're excellent mate. Cheers
fin film.
Simple but good. Love it :D
Thank you, Erik. Cheers!
Tackar!
Thanks! What do you say to a super thanks? "Super you're welcome??" Cheers!
This brings me back to my childhood.... fried egg and falukorv on a sandwitch.... :)
Yes, I would say that it's a classic of our generation. Cheers!
Great use of the old lunch box! I think the folding windscreen might find a place in the mess kit.
It would be really good but unfortunately it won't fit with the gasburner inside, so a makeshift windshield from tin foil it is. Cheers!
Yummy I used spam in my version
I can see that it would work very well too. Cheers Tony!
Another tasty video my man and yea I remember having to reheat things in the oven before we had a microwave, yeah I am old too bro lol 😆
Right on, thanks for watching. Cheers!
You made me hungry.
Carry ghee vs butter
find flexible cutting mat
use carry out salt & pepper, ketchup, mustard.
Thanks Don. I hope you get a pleasant meal. Cheers!
👍🏼
Thanks Scott!
I really like that tin! It is much better than the cheap japanese aluminum ones i can find. Great lunch as always, sir.

@@RedswedeOutdoors the cheap ones are essentially just clones of the Trangia mess tin, but are so cheap the aluminum wraps easy
Oh, that's to bad. Maybe you can find an oldie cheap in garage sales or flea markets. I have no idea if they still manufacture them...
👍👍👍

Glad you enjoyed it Jack. Cheers!
Great little recipe. I was very surprised that the egg never stuck to the aluminium. Were you just lucky or is there a secret tip I don't know.😊
Just lots of butter and wait until the egg is done, it will let go by itself then. Cheers!
Exactly how I've made them! Thanks for sharing
You're welcome Dale. It is a good sandwich, isn't it? Cheers!
palm oil.... does not burn the food so quickly
I prefer rapeseed or peanut oil if I need high temp oils, or butter for the taste. Cheers!
Good recipe Red! I like this simple but tastefull meals in the outdoors. Gonna try this some day. Thanks for sharing! Henk
Hope you enjoy it Henk. Cheers!
