    I’ve tried both lasagna and cottage pie in my Trangia. Can’t wait to do it out on the motorcycle trails. I didn’t have foil so used 3 stainless steel nuts. Did a fab job.

    Hello,
    What a delicious dish you made 😊
    Indirect heat that heats up the inner bowl does a good job and reduces the risk of burnt food.
    Wouldn't it work with water between the bowls and suitable spacers, when the ingredients are already fried? (Steam cooking/ steam heating)
    I'm a bit worried that you will damage the outer pot with dry cooking. Aluminum cannot withstand high temperatures. Have you seen any overheating damage to the outer pot?
    Following your trangiarecipe with great pleasure.

      @wildernessnomad3785  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there, glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the kind words, I did try a meal with water in between the pans but it over boiled out the sides even with a little bit of water but am still going to explore this option, and so far the pots are still going good and no damage occurs as of yet, but these are good points to bring up, thanks again and appreciate you support 😊 👍

    ... Using the tin foil spacers is great idea👍.. Prevents hot spot in the middle.... This could be applied to baking bread (with lid on) = mini oven😋.

    The mash on mince won't brown and crisp on top in a steam environment need dry heat of an oven. When at home chefs trick is to mix 1 or 2 egg yolks into the mash which will crisp up a treat and slight colour your mash. Nice recipe to have both elements hot rather than setting one pan to the side while cooking the other.

    Great video and realize I am late to comment but have a question: Seem to remember Trangia stating not to heat vessel without food/water in container. The spacer idea rocks but should one consider adding water to spacer vessel. Brilliant idea on foil spacers.

    • @wildernessnomad3785
      @wildernessnomad3785  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes thay probably do as its aluminium as prone to damage if super heated, so far I have seen none and its in good working order, I've tried water but it either bubbles over even with a little or it evaporated very quickly but I haven't really spent much time in figuring out the right qualities lol, good question tho, anyway appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment its very much appreciated 👍
