- This is the type of fishing I love, Where you can fish really simple rolling meat and catching fish that get your reel screaming! I hit this river this session is search of some more barbel! The torpedo of the river. This session the bait of choice was MEAT flavoured with Garlic. The idea was to roll the meat through the swims, under trees for these hard fighting fish. Hope you enjoy!

I've never been river fishing but barbel fishing looks amazing, I was always a Carp man, but lost my job and motor which stopped my freedom, and depression and anxiety stops me doing pretty much everything nowadays, even getting out of bed for work is a very hard task. Watching vids like this really do help me to forget all my problems!

PEK and curry powder worked a treat in the early/mid 70's, no hair rigs, chunk of PEK or luncheon meat of choice, quick dip in curry powder on a No6 hook with a bit of grass to stop the bait flying off on the cast. 15lb prime river seven barbel thanks very much.
Still works well now . And I fully agree no hair rig .

Now then Chris, I know you told me the water level would drop once they'd been through with the weed cutter, but fook me!!! The swim I've been fishing has dropped a good 18 inch at least! Managed a Barbel out of it fairly quickly and then the weed cutter came through again! 😡
Another great vid Chris. Simple and effective tactics and excellent watercraft equals a fine catch of Barbel...oh and the "throwing the rod" in moment was just great. It wouldn't be a sesh with you without something going a bit wonky. 😂 You should do a bloopers reel of all your wonky moments, mate. I'm sure your subscribers will love it.☺

Beautifull fishes and a nice stream. Cant expect more. The wound on top of the head could also be caused by a lamprey. Got the Ceymar XT 40 and 55, great reels for a reasonable price! Greets from germany

Well worth repeatedly rewatching the moment of you punching your rod into the river for a while
Eva try using chicken hearts and gizzards or beef heart pieces? I use these types of meat on straight circle/octopus hooks because the hookset is better and the meat doesn't come off as easy.
Ever tried Pepperami?? Down my neck of the woods the fish used to go absolutely MAD for them 😂😂
Pepperami has been heavily over used though so a lot of the fish are smart to the bait now and wont touch it 🤣🤣 But you get the occasional one.

ive used chicken liver for pike and perch with some success. spam works for pike too, but the perch dont seem interested.

Spicy peperarmy works a treat.
Certain types of polony (polish spam) are neutral. They neither float or sink. Personally I've used it for carp but I'm sure it would have an application for barbel.
Caught my Pb barbel at 9lb as I started watching this video was 2:08 when my rod burst into life!

Make your own garlic meat just cube a tin of meat and shake garlic flakes into a plastic bag give it a good shake and put it in the freezer.
Needn't be buying already flavoured bait, easy enough to do it yourself and cheaper, I've only ever used garlic luncheonmeat for the majority of my fishing especially for carp. What I do is I buy spam or cheap luncheonmeat cut it into cubes and coat it in garlic salt/granules then microwave the meat to give it a skin so it doesn't fall off the hook/hair rig. It's incredibly cheap and works a dream for all sorts of fish . I've caught some large carp, chub, tench and some lovely roach
