Same price, true $99. But, you get USB-C for charging, up to 3 devices, backlighting and you can program many of the function keys with the software which the Apple keyboard does not offer.
Hi Oliur. If you didn’t know already, Satechi do a keyboard called the Slim X1 which has all of the features you’re looking for. It is space grey (they don’t do a silver one I don’t think), but it’s Mac layout, usb-c, backlit and well built out of aluminium entirely. Also connects to 3 bluetooth devices, looks just as smart as the apple magic keyboard if not better looking with the backlight, and it’s also cheaper I believe. I’ve got it and I love it, so do look into it- it’s literally the perfect office keyboard imo. Also a lil bonus tip for your monitor, use a program called ‘monitor control’ which lets you change the brightness of any monitor using the brightness function keys, with the correct animation pop-up as well. Very convenient for my Viewsonic. Hope that helps, love your channel mate. Peace!
Oh, few hours ago I got Satechi Slim X1!! It's really awesome and I'm using it on windows desktop via Bluetooth dogle. Can I use that 'monitor control' program on windows 10 desktop computer too?
I had Satechi Slim X1 keyboard. Sadly I did not have a good experince. First keybaord start having problem after 1 months of use, double press key. Send it back and recevied a new one same problem again couple of months after using the keyboard. Now Satachi refunded me completely so their cosumer serivice is good but their product lack reliability been using the MX keys mini now and it's been great so far. I also pefer the material that logitech using a lot more than the one on Satachi and magic keyboar cause it does not get figner print on them. With the Satechi keybaord I had to clean it very often cause the keys were oil/finger print magnet.
I got the mx keys mini yesterday and I definitely prefer the typing feel over the magic keyboard, personally. I find the function key choices a bit strange because I would much prefer media keys over emoji and dictation, since those are easily accessible with shortcuts on any keyboard. loving it so far!
I am pretty sure you can customize what the function keys do using Logitech's software. You don't have to use the default configuration. I think you can even create macros.
I use the full size MX Keys and I absolutely love it. The one thing that I would change though, is having the keyboard light stay on at all times. Hate how it turns off after a few seconds :/. I actually prefer to have a number pad as well! But I can see how the mini version is definitely going to be more portable
Hey there, thanks for sharing your thoughts! While your comment isn't directly related to the article, I appreciate your enthusiasm for keyboards. If you're looking for PC cleaning tools, I'd recommend checking out the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule. It offers both powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, making it a handy tool for maintaining a clean environment for your desktop and beyond. Plus, it's reasonably priced compared to other options in the market. Hope this helps!
i wish to do same but my job requires a full size keyboard with numberpad don't know what to do about it as the full size keyboard makes the mouse into a weird place
I've tried different Logitech keyboards.. specifically for the iPad and then connecting it to my monitor, and in my opinion nothing beats the clickiness of the apple keyboard. The only thing I wish apple made was a button to switch devices as I go back and forth pretty often from Mac to iPad

Its powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, along with its compact size, make it perfect for maintaining a spotless environment. Plus, it's great for cleaning keyboards too! Have you given it a try yet?
i can see why people would chose mx mini over the magic keyboard. i am currently using both windows and mac, one for work and the other for personal usage, while both are connected to my monitor and located on the laptop stand. Placing the laptop on the laptop stand means the laptop needs an external keyboard, and because i use both mac and windows, the keyboard needs to easily switch from mac and windows. Precisely with this function, magic keyboard does a horrific job while the mx keys mini seamlessly switches between the two. For the reason why i want mx keys mini, all my other set ups, such as the magic touchpad has the aluminum and minimalistic design, a design that is similar to mx keys mini. Thus, functionality and design considered, mx keys mini is the winner for me
I had this keyboard and returned it. Loved the typing feel, but since this is a "low power BT" device, it will not recognize the pre-boot keys, such as safe mode or recovery. I had to hook another keyboard to accomplish this. Otherwise, Logitech said to use the dongle, but it is optional and I was not going to pay for it. Heads Up
Use the MX keys for a good amount of time now, hands down the best keyboard I've ever used. Same for the MX master 3 for a mouse. Simply said, these devices are the devices that apple should have made for Mac. Looking into the mini version now for on-the-go use because the bigger version is heavy too. If only the mini and anywhere mouse where available in space gray for Mac.
Ah! You just saved me from ordering the wrong version in graphite. I’ve been trying out the white one and would prefer a darker keyboard, but I‘ll keep it anyway. It’s really nice to use.

Frikin' thank you, a million thanks! One of the main things for me is key noise and key travel, you're one of the first that has compared them side to side, wonderful review! I'd say one of the reason that's so noisy is because it has an "empty" space below it. But I'll have to try.

I love my setup very much. For my workstation and movie watching. By the way, as I don't always use my MX Keys Mini, even with the backlights fully turned on at it's max brightness, it can still last me for months though. It's an awesome keyboard and I really love it!!
At the moment, you can find the magic keyboard for $30-40 and mx mini for $60 on ebay. I have 2 magic keyboards and looking to switch over to mx mini with unifying adapter for easy work/personal computer swap.
MX mini feels different from the regular MX in a bad way. Also, the power button feels cheaper. One of the rubber foot came off in just 3 weeks. In my opinion, Logitech clearly spent less money to manufacture than a regular MX but charing the same street price.
So how is the brightness controls? Can you map the MX keys to control the screen brightness on your external monitors? And how about the bluetooth connection to your Macs? Is it stable? Or you have to use dongle? Great review btw!
Just got it today, and its a bit of a learning curve if you're used to a MacBook keyboard, but its very nice that it can switch between 3 devices at the push of a button. The reason that I opened TH-cam at 3am is to watch a review of MX keys mini & this video is the first video that was shown on my home page. Well, i guess i need to buy it then.
Howdy there, I recently bought the MX Keys Mini about a week ago now and I love it! As you said I agree that maybe it should have been priced a little lower, to be more competitive, however, I personally think the angle at which the MX Keys Mini is better than the Magic Keyboard and enjoy having Mac specific keys that just seems more familiar. I was always deterred from the standard MX Keys due to the larger size due to the number pad. Having this keyboard is great when I want to type non-stop, I do also own a 84 key, mechanical keyboard I use in conjunction but having the slimmer keyboard and the keys to light up when in proximity to the MX keys and not continuously on is phenomenal, and you won’t realize how nice it is until you switch keyboards and are wishing you had it. Sorry for my long rant, keep up the great work I enjoy your vids! 😁👌

I wish there would be a possibility to attach the numbers when you really need them, (the dreaded tax returns, for example) and be able to use in the mini size for when you don’t want to give up crying with neck and arm pain at the end of long editing sessions.
Hi! Thank you for the review! Do you know if the mac version can be connected to windows? I know it seems silly but I prioritize the mac layout since this is what I use more often but sometimes I might use with my windows work corporate computer. Thank you!
Question: is it possible to put it on top of a laptop(e.g. Macbook pro)? Does the rubber stand at the bottom stand on the frame(of laptop keyboard) instead of triggering any keys on the laptop?
Amazing video! But I've question about the delete. Oh magic keyboard to erase the archive, Command + delete. It's the same thing on MX mini for mac or needs press the fn key too ?
Just had mine arrive today. The graphite grey version though. On the whole I like it but I’m struggling to believe this is an aluminium case, it really feels like plastic to me. I’ve had a magic keyboard and an aluminium mechanical (keychron k1) before and they both felt cold to touch. This just feels like plastic. Feel like it’s a little bit expensive if it isn’t actually metal.
Well any keyboard that doesn't have the standard layout or the 75% layout is a no go for me. I made the mistake of purchasing a K380 and it's a pain to get used to because just SO MANY keys i use for work is not available in it. No End, Home, Page up, Page down, context menu icon.. And F keys are secondary by default.. I mean why would they do that? I had to plug in my older full sized keyboard and record some macros for my mouse to use the end and home keys. Plus the there's ONLY 4 programable keys and ALL 4 OF THEM are in the top middle of the keyboard!! The K380 was released SO long ago and STILL they do the same shit with this one. And WHY do they have two different software? Logitech Options and GHub... It's a shame really. Specially since this is SUCH a well built piece of hardware. They really need to rethink the layout and prioritize functional keys.
Hi, Something strange is going on here... I wrote to Logi support asking about the frame material. He replied to me: "Thank you for your interest with our MX keys Mini for Mac. The Logitech MX Keys Mini for Mac feels very well-built. Its chassis and outer frame are made of a high-quality plastic that looks like metal." How is it in the end and who is right, because everyone writes and says something different?
This looks great. I need something to go with my Chromebook and monitor. Do you know if this keyboard top row keys can be mapped the same as the chromebook keyboard top row keys?
I don't get it. I see it has the same price of the Magic Keyboard. Why go left when you can go right? With Apple you wanna minimize the "fake" stuff... I already bought 2 alternative keyboards (half price give or take) and I can say - JUST GET THE ORIGINAL.
I prefer low-profile keyboards like these even after using a couple of mech keyboards. But I think I prefer the Logitech keyboard in the same size (the one with the round keys). And there’s a dupe BOW keyboard that looks exactly the same but with rechargeable battery. I’m still not sold mainly because of the price.
Seems nice but I use the Magic Keyboard with touch ID for my M1 Mac Mini. Love the convenience. I doubt we'll see any 3rd party boards with Touch ID though.
Yeah it looks nice, but why would they add that uselss bar at the top? or have it always rised? i like the design a lot but i rather use my keyboard flat to my desk.
Especially since they need power for backlighting, I would think this is where they put the battery, also, wireless technologies like Bluetooth don’t mix with metal, so they need at least some part of the keyboard to be made of plastic…
Hey there! If you're looking to optimize your desk setup, I'd highly recommend considering the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule. It's a compact device that combines powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, perfect for keeping your desktop spotless. It's also versatile, portable, and boasts a range of great features. Definitely worth checking out!
If the the regular Magic Keyboard was the only competitor, the MX Keys Mini would be the obvious choice. However, the Magic Keyboard with touch ID makes the choice really hard. I guess it boils down to multi device switching vs. touch ID button.
Why would this be a winner over the Magic Keyboard without Touch ID? Yes it looks nice but I’m having trouble understanding why someone would choose this over apples.
@@keviinschannel I think Bruno was saying multi-device would be the only reason to so if you have a PC and Mac, or Mac and iPad etc. With the MX Keys you can pair it to 3 devices and switch between them with a single button press so you could use it for PC, Mac and iPad. Personally still prefer the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and having a dedicated PC keyboard too. Easy enough to just shove one in a draw when not in use.
@@JamesNaden oh i see! Sorry I missed his last part. Yes that does make sense. As for me, I'll be sticking with apple's magic keyboard as I only use apple products.
It’s a nice keyboard, I ended up returning mine, it’s not very ergonomic a little too small for me and extremely heavy to carry around. If this is your main keyboard and your not moving it around a lot then it’s probs a buy for you. Looks really nice and great typing feel to it.
I've read somewhere that the cable is purely for charging? I wanted and was excited to get this until i found you can't use it wired. Can anyone confirm that?
I do legitimately think the apple magic keyboard is one of the best keyboards of all time. I’ve owned the Logitech K780, and that thing was horrible. Gave it away. Circular concave keys 🤮
I think this is a problem with with the Mac mini itself, not the keyboard. I’ve seen people have issues with all sorts of Bluetooth keyboards with the Mac mini.
Why would they stop manufacturing k810 and for some reason keep producing worse variants is beyond me. K810 had all same feautures, better keycaps and it even had backlit keyboard which would turn on and off depending if you had your hands nearby, it would detect your hands capacitively, and it would cost same 80 euros. I dont know what do i have to do to persuade them to bring it back.
Maybe I'm too deep into mechanical keyboards but the price seems steep compared to other more customizable prebuilt options with both mac and windows wireless capability. There are switch options for custom mechanical keyboards with less key travel and various types of tactility. but I will admit that it does take significant effort to find out a personal preference. The thin visuals of this keyboard don't appeal to me as I have a battery powered wireless keyboard that runs on AAA batteries and it shares the same aesthetic. Seems a bit too minimal for me perhaps
MX Keys Mini has such an annoying sound 😬 I hoped it is quieter than Apple keyboard. K380 is still the best sounding external keyboard I've tried so far.
This keyboard's best feature is that it looks cool. It's like a skateboard deck that you tap your fingers on. Mine arrived with three dead keys. This was not such a bad thing, as the mechanical, tenkeyless board that replaced it provides a nicer typing experience and saved me twenty dollars over the MX Keys. The MX is misleading branding IMO.
Same price, true $99. But, you get USB-C for charging, up to 3 devices, backlighting and you can program many of the function keys with the software which the Apple keyboard does not offer.
I use the MX keys right now. I wish I could break off the number pad on the right side D:.
thats incredible 😂 i had a similar thought go through my head when i found out Logitech was selling these minis
Same, i'll totally try to sell mine and get this

Question: is it possible to put it on top of a laptop(e.g. Macbook pro)? Does the rubber stand at the bottom stand on the frame(of laptop keyboard) instead of triggering any keys on the laptop?
Which KeyBoard Do You Recommended For MacBooks Would You Go For Apple Magic KeyBoard Or Logitech Keyboard Mini TKL
does the new keyboard give the ability to go into MBAir sleep mode when working with an external monitor? (just like regular closing MacAIR?)
Feel like it’s a little bit expensive if it isn’t actually metal.
thats because u are right... it IS plastic.
Does all the Extra Buttons work on the mac without installing the Logi Option Software??? THX for an answer!
recommend you look into Vissels LP85
I think it’s priced pretty well considering it can connect to 3 devices with the click of a button, it’s type c, and it’s back lit🤷🏾♂️
Wouldn't it be great if they made the craft mini?
Hi,
Something strange is going on here... I wrote to Logi support asking about the frame material. He replied to me: "Thank you for your interest with our MX keys Mini for Mac. The Logitech MX Keys Mini for Mac feels very well-built. Its chassis and outer frame are made of a high-quality plastic that looks like metal."
How is it in the end and who is right, because everyone writes and says something different?
This looks great. I need something to go with my Chromebook and monitor. Do you know if this keyboard top row keys can be mapped the same as the chromebook keyboard top row keys?
Can you control how long the backlight stays on? Or is it just auto shut off after 5 seconds?
I have the MX Keys, I'm having issues with the Numpad, I cannot get used to how bit it is and I've had it for about a year probably
Seems nice but I use the Magic Keyboard with touch ID for my M1 Mac Mini. Love the convenience. I doubt we'll see any 3rd party boards with Touch ID though.
The single most important reason i’m still going for MK because of touch ID
Does thhis keyboard have the option for mission control (key f3 in apple keyboard)?
I use the space grey MX Master 3 for Mac and it really sucks that they didn't make a color matching MX keys mini
Can i use this on my PC? I love this layout, but i worried about that mayby not work on not mac.
They need to make this in a space grey type of color
Yeah it looks nice, but why would they add that uselss bar at the top? or have it always rised? i like the design a lot but i rather use my keyboard flat to my desk.
Especially since they need power for backlighting, I would think this is where they put the battery, also, wireless technologies like Bluetooth don’t mix with metal, so they need at least some part of the keyboard to be made of plastic…
Thank you for another excellent video. Are you using the same LUT from your shop?
amazing quality video mate, what camera/lens are you using ?
Best keyboard for typing I've ever had ;)
came for the keyboard, bought the desk mat :D
How to configure the brightness keys🤔
go to preferences - keyboard on the mac. then under shortcuts - display, change the mapping. i changed it to fn+f4 and fn+f5
Here for the amazing content Oliur this is fantastic as usual
The Logitech one goes so much better with your desk matt!
Exactly
Macbook pro 14, 2021 model wont find the mx keys mini as a bluetooth device. What can I do?
It’s a nice keyboard, I ended up returning mine, it’s not very ergonomic a little too small for me and extremely heavy to carry around. If this is your main keyboard and your not moving it around a lot then it’s probs a buy for you. Looks really nice and great typing feel to it.
Extremely heavy? hahahahah
como está a questão de sujeira? e o branco ficou amarelado?
Would of been great if the damn back out light timer was adjustable. The thing turns off and on so much its damn near seizure inducing.
Plz try out and review the Microsoft designer keyboard looks identical to the apple one
I feel the same way about liking smaller keyboards (like the magic keyboard).
Does the MX Keys Mini have a forward delete key?
Sound test: 7:21
I've read somewhere that the cable is purely for charging? I wanted and was excited to get this until i found you can't use it wired. Can anyone confirm that?
vissles lp85 should blow everything out of the water. Basically Apple keyboard profile, but it is mechanical.
Love this keyboard, however the mission control key is a deal breaker for me :(
IT NEEDS A BUILT IN PRINTER SANDWICHED BETWEEN IT'S COMPONENTS THAT IS FRONT LOADABLE.
I do legitimately think the apple magic keyboard is one of the best keyboards of all time.
I’ve owned the Logitech K780, and that thing was horrible. Gave it away. Circular concave keys 🤮
Love apple Magic Keyboard! Simple, minimal! Great!
I prefer the full size
Why wouldn't apple change their laptop's keyboards to the same travel distance as the one in Logitech MX Keys Mini? it will be so comfortable.
Does this Mac version work on Android as well?
But does it have Bluetooth connection issues with the M1 Mac Mini? So annoying
I haven’t had any issues with my M1 MacBook Pro yet. Sounds like you might have some other interference?
I think this is a problem with with the Mac mini itself, not the keyboard. I’ve seen people have issues with all sorts of Bluetooth keyboards with the Mac mini.
Mx keys has horrible connection with my pc
Why would they stop manufacturing k810 and for some reason keep producing worse variants is beyond me. K810 had all same feautures, better keycaps and it even had backlit keyboard which would turn on and off depending if you had your hands nearby, it would detect your hands capacitively, and it would cost same 80 euros. I dont know what do i have to do to persuade them to bring it back.
Has anyone here used the Magic Keyboard here? How does this stack up in terms of ergonomics? I hate how low profile it is.
Seems a bit too minimal for me perhaps
wis h there was a dark space grey version
Can we use this keyboard on iPad Pro
I like your style and experience. Thanks for sharing!
MX Keys Mini has such an annoying sound 😬
I hoped it is quieter than Apple keyboard.
Finally a version not for accountants lol
This is what i'm waiting for
the no midea key is a absolute deal breaker, the fiction key choice is just plain stupid from logitech
I love the new Apple Keyboard with touch ID
Great keyboard. Very good build quality on par wth Apple products if not better. Easy to charge via USB C. Why deny yourself any of the features?
The website is showing a graphite version looks like the MX keys for mac Currently available!
Where? I only see a grey/white version for Mac.
@@Oliur Ah that's my mistake! There is a Graphite model but it's not for Mac only like the one you featured here. Sorry about that!
