    Hi guys, keys are indeed can be assigned in the OS. But, for me, the fact that bluetooth keeps disconnecting in between os and no wired connection as backup is a killer. Otherwise, this is a FANTASTIC keyboard. The search goes on...

    I have been a Mac user for the past 15yrs or so. I recently purchased the MX Keys Mini and a MX3 mouse because my work issued me a Windows laptop and I needed a keyboard/mouse that would work with both laptops. I can't believe how much more I like the MX Keys Mini over my Magic keyboard. I swear I can type faster and more accurately with it and the keyboard feels amazing under the finger tips. I don't miss the Launch Pad key as I have never used Launch Pad in all my years of using Macs. I didn't think about the ability to hardwire being as I have only used laptops for the past few years but I have been considering a Mac Mini so may use the Bolt receiver on it if I buy one. Thanks for the great review!

    Just found out last night the MX Keys Mini exists. I've had it for about 2 hours now and it's 100% perfect for me on two Windows PC's (laptops). Everything is exactly where it should be, fn+arrows work for home, end, page up, page down, function row can be toggled and locked out to media buttons or function buttons (although there is no indicator light to tell which mode is active that I can tell), dictate and emoji and other function buttons can be re-mapped to much more useful buttons (people complaining that emoji button is stupid and won't buy this because play/pause and next track are missing - just re-map them people), typing feel is fantastic and super quiet, proximity white backlighting is perfect, build quality is next level, bluetooth is working great so far. Zero issues to report and I am extremely happy with my purchase. For the price, there is no excuse for not including the Bolt dongle. And here, have an emoji from the included button nobody seems to like. ✌

    I have one and love it. I had an old Universal receiver that came with an old mouse plugged in when I first turned the keyboard on. It connected without me having to do anything so I didn’t need to get a Bolt receiver. And the Universal receiver works with my new MX mouse.
    That said, I decided not to get rid of my almost twenty year old wired keyboard - truly wired because it has an annoying cord - just in case.

    I think the point of this keyboard is that its compact and portable. I don't think having a wired connection option is something necessary for the market Logitech is striving to appeal to. This is more likely for those who work with ipads/tablets, and or travel a lot and need this size with primary bluetooth capability.

    • @benadamsondxb
      @benadamsondxb 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For me, it's not just about portability. The optimal position for a keyboard if you do a lot of typing is dead-centre to your display (i.e., the B and N keys lined up). With a full size keyboard, your mouse is uncomfortably far away if you do that. I have a Keychron K2 V2 which is also compact (albeit 75%, so a touch wider than this one) and that supports Bluetooth and wired connections. (The Bluetooth on the Logitech seems to be better, though.)

    • @FireMunki63
      @FireMunki63 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly, I use this when I travel or just take an iPad pro with me. I use the MX Keys full size keyboard at home. This video is a case of thinking of the MX Mini as a main replacement keyboard and a do it all keyboard.

      I'm a developer.
      I seldom use my Mac outside.
      The size is perfect. I don't need the num keypad. I place my magic trackpad where the num keys would be.
      And the half sized left and right keys make me locate those keys (along with the up/down ones) with ease.
      Very ergonomic.

    Thanks for making this video! I recently purchased the Logitech K380, and although I've been enjoying it I've been wondering about the MX Keys Mini. It seems like they're both approximately the same size, and the layout look somewhat similar. K380's keys are bit smaller if I recall correctly. Indeed, there is a big price difference even without the bolt add on reciever. If you are happy with what you have now, then no need to change. my opinion.

    What I, as a Linux user, want is an additional vertical key column (either on the left or on the right) that has the four keys (PgUp/PgDn/Home/End). I use those keys very often when editing text. I know under macOS, those keys are not used often, but Logitech could allow key remapping and Mac users can use those keys as Mission Control, Launchpad, and other features they use often, so that would solve this man's problem too.

Whenever I put the PC to sleep and wake it up, the keyboard loses connection and I had to smash the keys and wait a few seconds to be able to use the keyboard. And the keyboard does not work under BIOS (UEFI) or in the Linux login screen after booting. I prefer wireless mice, but I see no point of using wireless keyboard with desktop.

    After trying out both on windows, I returned the MX Keys MIni. The typing experience on the apple keyboard is just better. It has slightly shorter travel, the keys have less 'mush' feeling when pressed, and there is less resistance all the way through the stroke. If you do a lot of typing , the resistance isn't noticeable until you need to rapidly press the same key. If you type with less than 95% accuracy like I do you're going to be spamming the delete key, and this is where the resistance is notably less on the apple keyboard.
    Feature wise the MX has more to offer; the apple magic's Fn doesn't even work on windows, and if you don't have Bluetooth on your computer, you'll have to plug it in. So if you care more about features then the mx is for you, but if you are about raw typing enjoyability then the apple magic keyboard is the way to go.

    Great video. While I agree the keyboard should work wired while charging, in a regular Mac the bluetooth does work on boot right when it's powered on, not after login screen.

    • @unusuario5173
      @unusuario5173 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not true.
      I had two Bluetooth Acteck keyboards (crappy brand, do NOT buy) and they would work during boot time
      But I had to replace them because they broke.
      This keyboard is ALMOST perfect.
      The only thing missing is this thing precisely: I have dual boot on my Mac, and it's quite annoying that I cannot use the keyboard during boot to enter the EFI password.

    I disagree with your wish to move the device switch, because Mission Control can be conveniently mapped to mouse buttons.

  • @sedesvideo
    @sedesvideo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I disagree with your desire to change the shortcuts. Switching between devices quickly is my main reason for this keyboard. Microphone off as a shortcut is great. The variant with a number pad also has the shortcuts you are looking for integrated. Please leave MX Mini as it is. 😊

    No wired connection? I don't need (or want) wireless, bluetooth, or a battery...I'm on a desktop. Wired is simple & reliable, and should be an option if you want to use it.
