Thanks for vlog. I think IB got her tactics right when she stuck to her best fly (and ignored the penalty for not using the others) a couple more on that would have won it (Griffiths Gnat a great fly for Grayling). I've only experienced success with the small Grayling, casting as short as possible with minimum slack in the line, which is very hard to achieve if you are fishing directly up-stream. I think what you both achieved was very respectable and entertaining.
Thank you David for watching and kind words! On another day IB's winning this all day long, what are the chances of me landing a fish in the last minute!
What a showdown! I must say I am really impressed with IBs pinpoint accurate casting... and Andy's inability to hook a fish! Ha ha all good fun. Funny that trout is done for you, it is just kicking off again over here in Pennsylvania now that the temperature is down and the fall stockings have just happened. My 11yo son Sam and I just got back from fishing the local stocked lake and between us we must have caught and released 50 fish. I know, it totally feels like cheating, but it has got him into trout fishing. He caught his first trout on a dry fly this spring, and after today I think he's hooked! I hope you guys can make another video soon, I really enjoy them and have been missing them.
Well guys, now I’ve watched it I have to say it was an absolute joy. My own recent experience really allows me to feel your pain. Great to see the Derwent and that was so close! Great job, you three! I’m looking forward to getting on the Derwent with my new Euro nymphing rod soon!
So happy to see a vid. Sad you probably won’t put one out for 6 months. I declare IB winner. It is not far that you are using TWO nymphs at the same time. I feel if you are nymphing you can only use one nymph. That gives you twice the advantage over her. Again you stacked all the odds in your favor. Plus she is much cuter than you. lol. Please do some kind of vids over the next 6 months.
Really enjoyable video. Thank you both. Interesting that smaller flies appeared to be successful. Over the last few years, I have found that to be the case (at least on the rivers) and now rarely fish anything larger than a size 16 (dries or nymphs).
Great to see you out again, I was on the Derwent further up stream the same day and found the same loads of takes but not staying on should had 30 odd. Still did OK about equal amounts of brownies and grayling all on dry .(#20 Griffiths nats). Tight lines .
Great to see you both back on the river and having fun. What's with the triple-tap of the Hyrdos blank before you make the first cast? Superstition or some 'dark art' we should be wary of practicing? Have a great grayling season...sounds better than wishing somebody a 'good winter'!
Great to see you both on the water again, fantastic fishing, unlucky IB _ Please Andy if you have a free day on the weekend give me a nod for a guided days nymphing for some of those grayling on you fav stretch? I and the lads with me, enjoyed it so much last time even though the weather had other ideas 😃 👍
Feels like it’s been ages! Will there be any grayling videos this winter? Hoping to get a few on the euro nymph setup this winter, will be purchasing a euro nymph in a box bundle 😊great vid again guys
@@IBandAndyFishing oh yea definitely! Will email them if the big grayling does come to the net 😁👊 I think I’ve watched your how to euro nymph vids 5 times each 🤣 if you guys have time this winter please travel up to the river tweed, you will not be disappointed! It’s a long way from you guys though, make a little holiday out of it 🤣
We were planning a trip to Scotland a few times this year, really wanted to go for trout too in the summer, but things kept happening out of our control and all got postponed! Hopefully can get something in for grayling this winter!

Thanks Stephen, we'll try to get some more stuff filmed asap!

Thank you both for a lovely video. Great to see you out together. One day IB you will have your day. Tight lines
At some point... one day.. maybe I should sabotage him pre challenge next time 😂
Thanks Nick! I really thought she'd got me this time, talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!

😂😂😂
We'll try to film more videos, we've both been so busy this summer, it's been non-stop. Thanks so much for watching!
Enjoyed that video. You both take so much pleasure in catching modest sized fish and having a friendly competition between yourselves.
We'd have taken pleasure in catching some bigger fish, too, we just couldn't find them this time! Thanks so much for watching, much appreciated!
Great Game Format guys, you should name it Jeopardy!
Cracking video and great to see you two out on another Challenge - IB, so close!
Thanks so much Robert, I really thought she'd won that one!
great seccion guys love it 🎣
Great to learn that you filmed that session guys! I’m with Ieva on the dry fly choice.
It nearly paid off too, it won't get much closer than that!
There you go!
Well, personally, I think I am the winner and the real Trout Queen. Not taking this defeat lightly, rematch?
*our tune* moment..... play the music 🎶. Great vid gain, keep em coming.
Thanks Stuart! ❤️
Great video guys and fun competition. Been too long though. Hopefully you will get some settled time with good weather this winter to get out more.

Ahhh gutted!!
So close, yet so far 😂

Nice Alan! Sounds like you had a great day, weather was lovely too when that sun was out 😎

Thanks for the watch bud! The triple tap is just to get the fly off the rod rings.. me being lazy and not reaching over to unhook it instead!
@@IBandAndyFishing And there was me thinking I'd learnt something new! 😄

Thanks so much Graham! Drop me an email at andy@abangling.co.uk- I'm sure we can get you in the diary!
I really enjoyed that challenge, liked the penalty for not using all selected flies. Bad luck IB, thought you had him this time 😂
Thanks Zach! I got very lucky, and IB very unlucky. So many missed takes again too!
Nail-biting stuff. I think IB should have won for using fewer flies…..?
I 100% agree with you. I should have won 😢😂
Quote of the season "nymphing for trout, disgusting!" great video guys, cheers
Sorry about IB 😫🤣🤦
@@DaviekFlyFishing that was a laugh out loud moment! 😂😂👍
@@robertalp3878 Sure was! Lots of fun too working out what swear word is being used, just about audible through the beep! Entertainment
You're doing well if you can work out the set of three. I learned some new words there myself whilst editing it!
@@IBandAndyFishing at least it wasn’t ’dang it’ which appears to be a Mr Buckley favourite!
Great job, Andy. For the euro nymphing, you're still using the vision hero rod, and which rod is ib using for the dry?
Hey!! Thanks for watching. IB is on her trusty Grey Streamflex 10' #4 rod
@@IBandAndyFishing Thanks for the answer.
Can I ask what floating fly lines you guys use for a 9’ 4wt

Thanks for sticking around, Mikey! Yes definitely grayling videos (pending how this winter goes, but surely can't be worse than last year??)
Looking forward to it! I know weather last year was terrible as well up here in scotland. Hoping for that 3lb grayling this year😅
Oooh! Now here's something to hope for! You will have to share the pictures when you do 💪💪

The FlashbackHares Ear has caught me a little if fish from the Derwent this season.
It's a great fly Nigel! Works most times in most places 👏
@IBandAndyFishing strangely enough I was talking to Lindsay Simpdon at this years BFFI and said it was one of my bogey flies.😂
They love a flash hares ear in there. Effective pattern in the Wye and dove too!
Andy what dry fly line do you use and is it wt forward or double tapered?
This one is a scierra aerial wf4 buddy 👍
@@IBandAndyFishing thank you mate
They're hard to find these days, I don't think they make them any more. I bought a load of them last year when they were on sale
zoo dat is lang gelden zeg dat ik julie weer zie
It's been ages!! Too long! Thanks for sticking around :)
Need bonus time for IB extra half hour
😂😂 extra half hour for her to swear at the fish?! 😂
Ib needs a secret weapon maybe gun offsider to give advice and spotting new spots to give her the edge for awhile ib superb angler and few great wins.
Rub some salt in for awhile
