Really well put together. Great tips and some good fishing. Good to see an approach from the bank as many go for the boat on this venue. Watched from start to finish and really enjoyed it. Thank you.
Lovely video. Thank you for mentioning the beginners. It useful to hear a professional say what you did “Rod, Reel and Line and a few flies” and then ask the guys. Sometimes beginners like myself can feel very intimidated when starting out on waters like this. Thanks Hwyel.
Great video Hywel …strong/good condition fish…thanks for all the tips too👍🏿never heard of a spartic trout before - a rare cross breed between Brook trout and Arctic char ( thanks to Mr.Google 😊)
Awsome film Hywel….it was on my bucket list this year to fish Clwedog but didn’t get round to it sadly. Glad to see it looks as good from the bank as most videos concentrate on boat fishing up there. Thanks for moving around to show us the full range too….i don’t think I’d have moved from Biga to be honest….what a spot! 👍🎣
Reservoir fishing is ok if that's your thing but not a patch on dry fly on the river for wild brownies of grayling, I live 45mins from there but to be honest when I've had a look at the so called flies people use it seems to me you could just as easily put a fag end on a hook and something will grab it.
Each to their own, I love drifting around Clywedog in a boat, it's an amazing place. As for your "fag end" comment, don't agree. At the right time, dry fly fishing at Clywedog is superb. The dry fly method was working extremely well Thursday afternoon. Earlier on, the fish were quite deep.

Thanks Shaun, really appreciate the feedback 😀
Reminds me of stocks reservoir in the good old days of the 80s bank fish because I couldn't afford a boat.finding all the hot spots by foot.
Diolch Shaun! The bank fishing is superb on the venue, very underrated!

Indeed, it doesn't have to be complicated, keeping it simple to begin with is the way to go.
Superb video with loads of helpful tips and some stunning fish, from a legend. Thank you for sharing. Tight lines.
Thanks Chris, glad you enjoyed.

Thanks Terry, they are stunning fish
Superb film - thanks Hywel
Diolch Paul!
Excellent video, I’ve been on a reservoir this afternoon and blanked, level was down. Wish I had seen this before I went.
Thanks Alan!
Great video. Great fishery. I always fish Clywedog from the bank. Access to deep water from the bank makes a boat unnecessary even in mid summer.
Diolch Geoff! The bank angling is superb on the venue
Hywel, y'know Clywedog is within a 'long day's' range for me, but I've never fished it. It's on the list now!
you should, its one brilliant venue. And open until 30th November.

Diolch! Glad you enjoyed. You still have time, they are open until 30th November and the weather looks good!
I fished by the same gate up Biga arm in June, a week before the beetles started. Curious what make that short handled net is ?
Its a brilliant spot. I believe the net is a Diawa floating pan net.
Hi was wondering what line you used and were you only fishing one single snake or did you have a dropper fly
It was a Rio Aqualux intermediate. With dropper of Diawl bachs 👍
What back pack is Hywel using please?
The Daiwa fishing rucksack
@@FishingInWalesthank you! Just got last one from Garry Evan’s on sale
Jees its dropped a fair bit since i was down late september
They do drop it in the late autumn to make some extra capacity for the winter floods. Which opens up a lot of bank fishing opportunities.

And on the other hand on occasion there is nothing less choosy than a hungry river brownie
