Thank you Khruangbin for making me look up the Isley Brothers and Kool and the Gang's Summer Madness..... I had no idea that's where some of these samples came from......
I REALLY need their version of Summer Madness on an EP, particularly the version where Mark plays the lyrics to I've Got Five On It, transitions into Mary Jane, and rolls right into What You Won't Do For Love. It's perfect.
find a MP3 downloader and use it to scrape the audio from these YT files .. Ive done that to everything i can find from them so I can load into the phone & JAM KB on my 3-5 hr long Mtn bike rides in mtns with no service ... ;- )
During Electric Relaxation he plays the riff from Award Tour, also by A Tribe Called Quest. The chords are sorta similar actually, never realized until now lol
Found him from Best Kept Secrets few months back..Man I love them..Soo much music flows through them..Maestro's like him are getting extinct these days..Hope to see you live some day...
Don't be forgettin about Dre... They do Nothin But A G Thing around the 3:40 mark. This kicked my ass when I saw them in Raleigh last year. They also did Jump On It at that show, so sick. Can't wait to see them again!
Frankie Knuckles could have been a 4 minutes longer and nobody would have gone anywhere. Check out the original. I had never heard it and graduated in 89, but we didn't really have ANY clubs within 100mi in any direction. We had a roller rink in the next town though. LOL
@@powderedtoastfacekillah734 Sorry, that makes zero sense. JUST BECAUSE they were sampled, (which btw is just another word for stealing or taking advantage of others talent, smfh) by hip hop ripoffs doesn't make this a fucking hip hop medley.

They reacted a little bit when ATCQ came on, so I would think they would know Frankie Knuckles, but they didn't react when Dilla came on. A weak crowd if you ask me.
Great video of a great performance, thanks for posting. I'm making an "annotated" video with clips of the original tracks cut into this video, would you be up for taking a look at the current version and providing any feedback/letting me know how you'd like to be credited? thanks

khruangbin playing a j dilla beat is an incredible musical moment for me
That moment made me really happy
That j dilla bit hit me instantly. You know.
I absolutely lost it.
Not only for you khruangbin is dope
Did anyone else hear him playing parts of the McGilla Gorilla intro? What a fleeting, momentous moment!

I love seeing a great guitar player who displays good taste and restraint. Love these guys.
He also plays ridiculously cleanly.
Summer Madness is beautiful
I can’t wait for COVID to be gone so I can see these dudes live again 🤩

That Kool and The Gang was smooth AF :o
Thanks for posting, heading over to see them tonight…Psyched!!
Pretty good sound, live is good, one of the better versions, as usual Laura is swaying . . . Poetry in motion. Love this trio.
Love that Dilla joint

It’s actually ‘I wanna do something freaky to you’ which is listed in the video description. Dre sampled it.

This is funk medley, not hiphop if you really think about it.
However these are funk and jazz songs sampled in hip hop tracks
So the unifying theme is their use in hip hop making it a hip hop medley
Thank you! Hell "hip hop" wasn't even around when those songs were hot.
