For several weeks after this concert the world experienced the biggest shortage of reverb since rock n roll was invented. Reverb suppliers from around the globe scrambled to produce enough product to supply the rest of the summer tours for 2018. First heard them on the late morning 30th of December 2023. Waiting for my wife to meet me in a bookstore/cafe. The overhead speaker in the cafe section’s playing a catchy tune overhead. “Shazam” app reads out “People Everywhere”, Khruangbin. Life Changing.

The medley in the middle of their set just got to me. I recognized everything they played from the Isley Brothers Footsteps in the Dark, to Kool and the Gang's Summer Madness. Beautiful. Just beautiful. I came across this trio a few days ago and I've simply fallen for them.
Seriously, I could watch them play live all day long, in fact, I think I have. Mark is probably the first guitarist in nearly 30 years that's literally blown my mind and has made me want to pick the guitar back up.
By far my favourite live session from these 3 amazing artists. The complexity of their sound is masked by the simplicity it appears to your ears as. I first heard Maria Taben on our national radio broadcaster one evening I was tuning in which was the first time in years. I was hooked the moment I heard the sound. Maria Taben is still my favourite followed closely by the opening track of this set. Mark can make the axe sing and scream. And to think the influence of Thai music that got them noticed was because they missed their original flight or it was cancelled and Mark and Lisa were like "where's the next flight to".........Bangkok. BOOM.
Just a little music history for all. The original songs in the medley they play are - The Edge by David McCallum - Footsteps in the Dark by The Isley Brothers - I keep Forgettin' by Michael Mcdonald - I Want to do Something Freaky to You by Leon Haywood - Summer Madness by Kool and the Gang. Also in Maria Tambien we mix in a little of some Apache by The incredible bongo band. Such a great show listen and feel all the love they are sending you!
All of my music - analog and digital - is almost strictly punk rock. Somehow, this band popped up on my TH-cam, I had to look because the guitarist looked at first like an early 70’s garage rock/proto-punk frontman, and very cool at that. Well, long story short, it’s three days later and I’m still listening to this band. Loving how simple, tight, melodic, balanced, and sublime this trio is!
I just saw this band on Austin City and I fell totally in love with them. Laura Lee and D.J. are such an incredibly locked down rhythm section. They're both great players. They provide the foundation for all of Mark's atmospheric Statoblaster derring-do. You can hear tons of influences but they turn it into something totally original. Can't wait to see them live!!!
for about 2 month i listen to this beautiful set everday at work. this is the only reason i dont get crazy. brothers and sisters dont let the bastards grind you down.
that these cats only have 7,752 views is the biggest crime - this is such great music. And they are all great players with some humor in each one of them as well. I keep posting to my FB - I hope they come to DC cuz I would be at that show in a heartbeat - God Bless and Rock On Khruangbin!
@ongakuhaze maybe boring for you, but not everyone else. It's not khruangbin sounds if it is played differently. They must be thinking and brainstorming about what sound they want to create when they started the band.
Joe SGBKU me too! Deployed in Afghanistan and we have a specialist in our battalion that is a literal musical genius and we've been hitting this concert for 3 weeks and man he gets into it , jsut has a hell of alt more rhythm than me lol. We had a convoy ambush where he took some shrapnel from a Russian grenade to the left calve and while waiting for the bird to come get him we were out of the good stuff so my brother turned on this concert to get his mind off it for the 90 minutes and he was jamming eyes closed and rockin his head , hell fuckin yeah! At first I was bored but after 15 min. I noticed how relaxed I was feeling it started to really grow on me. It is definitely different than any other music I know of.
Ridiculous talent. That’s all you can say. Every song is a trip through about 7 different genres. Seen them live in Manchester & it blew me away. ❤️🇹🇭✈️
Possible signs of Khruangbin addiction: 1. Listening every day 2. Buying vinyl records 3. See point 2, even if you still have to buy a turntable 4. Buying a vintage SX jazz bass guitar, the same model as Laura is using, because you just feel that burning desire to experiment with those buttery-smooth sounds 5. See point 4, even though you can barely play any (bass) guitar at all I'm 1.5 years in and guilty on all the above acounts. :-S What is your story? ;-)

Reverb suppliers from around the globe scrambled to produce enough product to supply the rest of the summer tours for 2018. Zenheiser Focker, from Reverb and Groove Supplies in Sweden said "We had to open our reserve reverb mines in Croatia and Funkistan just to meet the demand!"
No way! Does that include the ample supply of springs at the bottom of the ocean that were flushed down the toilet by Homer Simpson?
In related news, the tone world was flooded by the wet sound of this performance. I'm still hearing the drip.
Jack Humphrey Dude uses an Electro Harmonix Holy Grail for reverb.
Greatest. Comment. Ever.
This comment would have deserved the nobel in the last century, but he has put a serious mortgage on the current one.
This is the longest song I have ever heard
But... Grateful Dead ;)
and kinda changes beats a few times,
@@whitebirdification LOL!!!!
Yes
Perfectly long.
You can't listen to Mr. White and Two Fish and an Elephant without playing one into the other. Such a great transition. This band is a real gem
August 10 will always give me chills! One of the song that came in my life when I was so down but it keep me moving forward and achieve what I have to do! Thank you Khruangbin!
One of there best songs yea
Great song. I've been playing that on my strat daily. I bought a cheap bass just to make a backing track to play over.
my absolute favorite song
Same here! I feel you
Man, those drums. Love how they all support each other in their playing.
100%!
First band I've fallen in love with in quite a long time. Maybe decades.
Same here.
Me also.
Same. At age 55, I'm stoked on this amazing music.
@@bryanferguson4927 57 ;) I have a wide range of music I appreciate, but also picky.
This group that never gets good recognition should receive great recognition because this group has great uniquely creative style of contingency music that's so blended with a great feel vibe.
31:49 Dr. Dre, Next Episode
32:08 Ice Cube, Today was a good day.
32:33 Warren G feat Nate Dog, Regulate

That was slick and smooth what they did there....
Thanks bro' all I needed
what about Summer Madness?

Every single time I listen to Khruangbin, I automatically become better. Maybe this is the cure😅
Blending Africa, Middle East, Southern, Eastern Asia to generate bliss. Thank you.
retro and futuristic at the same time; so glad my daughter moved to Texas so I can come see this band!!
this whole video is a guitar lesson... Khruangbin out here pushing music forward, thank you guys for the example
... her stage presence is hypnotic... 😍
lol, that is what the bands mostly relies on; pretty face and boos, musically its really not crazy, to say the least.
@@lo2740 Wow u are mental :D Imagine saying that bands rely on looks.
Just discovered this band by accident on you tube. They're awesome, i'm a fan!

The medley in the middle of their set just got to me. I recognized everything they played from the Isley Brothers Footsteps in the Dark, to Kool and the Gang's Summer Madness. Beautiful. Just beautiful. I came across this trio a few days ago and I've simply fallen for them.
The old-school hip hop part is just magical.
VPCyd yeah not a lot of people were familiar with the songs though, just a few cheered.
VPCyd aa ooo
Notice: not one cell phone in the sky. This is how it it works. Respect

@@delphilungwyn5308 sorry, I came across your comment at that moment, couldn't resist.
Someone help. Been listening to Khruangbin everyday for two weeks now... Can't stop...
The unequivocal irony in me reading this comment and I look at the video at exactly 2:06. Hilarious.
Thank goodness for TH-cam. I first saw them on TH-cam, I went to see them in concert. They were fantastic!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
The high quality of this recording is highly impressive!!
Guitarist cool af, bass hot af AND DRUMMER FOKIN INCREDIBLE MATE
Well said cinnamon mate ;- )
Seriously, I could watch them play live all day long, in fact, I think I have. Mark is probably the first guitarist in nearly 30 years that's literally blown my mind and has made me want to pick the guitar back up.
They are genius. One of my best discoveries in 2019.
I just discovered them about 3 months ago, love them. I just got there con todo el mundo cd. And I'm a metal-head.
I'm a week in and I don't think I've listened to anything else since I found them.
DJ is a god, playing keys with one hand and still keeping the beat tight. Amazing.
DAMN RIGHT
By far my favourite live session from these 3 amazing artists. BOOM.
Laura is so beautiful and the band so chill ! Love them
Yikes
This band never ceases to amaze me. Every video I watch of them I find new and exciting moments in their music to love over and over again and again.
Pedro, you’ve hit the nail on the head👍
I freaking love this band
Just a little music history for all. The original songs in the medley they play are - The Edge by David McCallum - Footsteps in the Dark by The Isley Brothers - I keep Forgettin' by Michael Mcdonald - I Want to do Something Freaky to You by Leon Haywood - Summer Madness by Kool and the Gang. Also in Maria Tambien we mix in a little of some Apache by The incredible bongo band. Such a great show listen and feel all the love they are sending you!
You mean some Apache by The Shadows? Hank Marvin's influence on Mark is obvious. Check it out.
Ђовани Јоцић - Righteous! Appreciate the knowledge!
you rule
Henry Capps no regulate??
andres bermejo - That one is originally i keep forgettin' by Michael McDonald
Just discovered them a week ago, cant stop watching.
These are definitely gonna be one of those bands that get way more recognition years later, like classic music idols of the 60's 70's and 80's.
Just discovered them today! Great band! Love from Bulgaria!
I love Khruangbin so much :) THE UNIVERSE SMILES UPON YOU!
I BARELY CAME ACROSS THIS GROUP ON SPOTIFY AND MAN IM BLOWN AWAY WITH THEIR SOUL AND SOUND. LOVE IT. CHEERS FROM LOS ANGELES CA
This is the best Khrungbin experience on TH-cam, surpassing even KEXP.
i put on my headphones, close my eyes and let my mind wander to a groovier place
The sound immediately caught me. It's so freaking unique...but also so good too.
In all my life, I've never seen someone so comfortable with an electric guitar. It's like he doesn't even know it's there.
Reminds me a bit of Buckethead. You might enjoy that too if you are all about the blurry fingers.
The whole bands like that!
If I was in the audience I also would not realize it was there.
for about 2 month i listen to this beautiful set everday at work. this is the only reason i dont get crazy. brothers and sisters dont let the bastards grind you down.
August 10 is so fresh, it feels like a summer evening
can`t help but playing this over...and over...and over...and over again!!! ;-)
Sound tech: "Yo, How much reverb you need fam?"
Khruangbin: "Yes"
Drop Bear 🐐
Evan finds the third room moment
"all of the reverb"
YES
Oh man you’ll love SLIFT
I just love August 10. I now have two of their albums and want them all. What a talented trio!
This band vibrations are so awesome that words can barely describe it! I love to fly in Khruangbin's sounds! :}
that these cats only have 7,752 views is the biggest crime - this is such great music. And they are all great players with some humor in each one of them as well. I keep posting to my FB - I hope they come to DC cuz I would be at that show in a heartbeat - God Bless and Rock On Khruangbin!
Chill bud, it's a new upload. Most of their other live performances are pushing half a million or more. They're getting there!
They are coming to DC on October 3rd with Leon Bridges!
Wow, thanks so much for the heads-up - I cannot wait!
I was high as balls when I saw them live last year - tunnel of purple stars for an hour straight.
Ran across this group on Austin City Limits last week, what have i been missing…. WOW
Me too, just fantastic!
The drummer is the king of pocket. One day I wanna be as cool as him hahaa
@@Glock_Nico it's suppose to be played like that
Bonita Cure He purposely made his drum parts uncreative and boring?
That's music!!! 👌👌
Nico Glock wow your weak dude
This guy uses one guitar, the same set of strings and carries one pick with him all tour. Amazing.
th-cam.com/video/_m7OFp2Uv-g/w-d-xo.html
hes also has that same guitar since 2002
I see no pick.
@@dozer1642 You see yes pick at th-cam.com/video/hr7ScpVj1QY/w-d-xo.html (after 7:42)
The guy has used only one(!) goddamn Dunlop pick for performance over the years, wearing it down to a nub -- not to worry, he has *another one* as back-up in case of emergency. ( ಠ ͜ʖಠ)
26:49 Cameraman FAIL: manages to pan slowly over bassist's bottom during the *only* few seconds of the whole concert that it's *not* sinuously swaying and dipping rhythmically. Sigh.
Do you think their parents are proud of them?
I have determined this more precise timing for audio CD.

Ms Laura Lee, the ultimate reason to pick up a bass and learn to play hard. Great band! Thank you for posting this.
Found this band on Tiny Desk NPR….Absolutely Loving this Masterful trio!
Mark plays that guitar like he is going to levitate over the crowd. DJ is so tight in the pocket, I owe him change. And Laura Lee, I think enough had been said already in the commemts, she keeps the groove with her sway. ✊
Such a great musicians!! Obsessed with Khruangbin ✈️ love all the songs!

Good vibes 🎶🎸 Khruangbin ✈️

Absolutely genius! The best live performance I saw in last 10 years.
Man, they're making so many people so happy!
I just love how Mark acts as if he KNOWS how fuckin badass he really is. Being an OK guitar player myself, and having studied music for 40 years, I can say this guy isso fresh and new & interesting. His style is ORIGINAL, people... Original. Like this comment if you know what I mean, dammit!
Yep ORIGINAL thank God!!!
I liked only because you said Dammit.
At first I was bored but after 15 min. I noticed how relaxed I was feeling it started to really grow on me. It is definitely different than any other music I know of.
Evans Find the third Room.
That melody of the men voices and how, I think the drummer is singing falsetto.
Ridiculous talent. That’s all you can say. Every song is a trip through about 7 different genres. Seen them live in Manchester & it blew me away. ❤️🇹🇭✈️
Everytime I listen to this it always feels like the first time. It keeps getting better and better
Can't believe I just impulsively watched this today. and it's August 10 today.
Possible signs of Khruangbin addiction:
1. Listening every day
2. Buying vinyl records
3. See point 2, even if you still have to buy a turntable
4. Buying a vintage SX jazz bass guitar, the same model as Laura is using, because you just feel that burning desire to experiment with those buttery-smooth sounds
5. See point 4, even though you can barely play any (bass) guitar at all
I'm 1.5 years in and guilty on all the above acounts. :-S What is your story? ;-)
trashmail8
I was having similar feelings but haven’t acted yet😬
Lol!! Definitely started looking into the vinyl and of course a record player
I look at women and wonder why they don't dip their hips, say yes all the time and emit basslines.
I skipped number 2 and 3. Directly to 4.
