    If you cannot stand the spicyness. Just don't mix too much sambal into your nasi lemak. Put it on the side and just take a small portion of it when you eat. That's why it is served unmixed, so you can customize it according to your taste and spicy level of tolerance

      @MalaysianTropikfusion ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@penarahsia7730 Ada betulnya apa yang dia katakan tu. Susah nak cari sambal yang betul-betul pedas. Orang yang dah terbiasa dengan pedas cili padi dah tak rasa pedasnya. Bila nak pedas, dia makan makanan macam Mamee Daebak Ghost Pepper Noodles, Maggi Pedas Giler ×2, & Samyang Haek Buldak Bokkeummyeon. Saya sendiri lebih suka sambal-sambal pedas dari seberang, macam sambal Cibiuk, sambal Warung Padang Jawa di KK, dan sambal Ayam Gepuk Pak Gembus (Tahap yang paling pedas). Sambal Melayu Malaysia zaman moden ni kurang cili, lebih gula. Agaknya pengaruh tukang masak Patani-Kelantan. Masa PKP dulu, saya ada pesan mi hailam pakai Grab. Pertama kali seumur hidup saya merasa mi hailam manis. Teghok bebenor lidah tukang masaknya, bak kata orang Perak. Pengalaman peribadi: Selalu saudara-mara saya tegur bila saya tuang sambal banyak-banyak atas nasi. Kata yang memasak, "Eh, pedas tu. Rasa sikit dulu." (Ini bukan cakap berlapik untuk suruh saya jangan habiskan sambal, ya). Bila saya dah rasa: Hmh, tak sepedas mana pun. Gitulah, selalunya. Kalau sambal tu tak dapat buat saya selesema atau menangis, itu bukan sambal yang pedas, namanya.

    Alivia is amazing, she is kind and respectful even when the food isn't her prefer taste. Us man we have a survival mentality that we carry. This video show us a perfect example of how different man and woman are, I think its more of the mentality, we man don't really complain as much when we're in unfamiliar territory or when we're vulnerable, we're faster at adapting.

    If the drinks are hot below, that means we know the drinks are using cooked water (as our tap water are normally only treated but not filtered, so we dont drink from the tap). It is actually a sign of an honest drink maker. Pull your straw to the top where the ice are and you'll sip it cold ;)

    You should get different sides each that way you can try more. Nasi lemak traditionally comes just with the anchovies, peanuts and cucumber. But you can always add your choice of protein with it.
    The normal suspects are
    - fried chicken
    - chicken rendang/beef curry
    - beef rendang/beef curry
    - ayam masak merah (chicken with tomato sauce)
    - beef lungs
    - cockels
    - squid
    - fried eggs

    Malaysians usually mix with each bite instead of mixing everything together all at once. And that goes for all meals where they serve you condiments like chilli or soya sauce.

  • @Mimi-we9jv
    @Mimi-we9jv ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Normally malaysians don't mix all the sambal or other side dishes (normally at a mixed rice shop where there are a lot of side dishes to accompany your white rice) at once like you would a fried rice or korean bibimbap..we would take bit by bit including little egg, anchovies, chicken/beef until you are OK with the spice level or the taste. For first timer especially try mix it a spoonful at a time...so if you don't like the sambal or gravy at least there are some plain rice left for you to eat. Enjoy your stay in malaysia!

    Guys, actually the star of the show in Nasi Lemak is the rice. Ive been watching many first time Nasi Lemak eaters/tourists drenching the rice in Gravy and Sambal on TH-cam & Tiktok..haha...How are you going to appreciate the rice? Moderation is the key.
    Best thing to do when ordering.
    Order a plate of Nasi Lemak.
    Get the condiments - cucumber, peanuts, (skip the achovies if you dont like it)
    A fried egg or a boiled egg.
    A bit of sambal.
    Then 1 main protein that you like. Even this, is not compulsory.
    But if you do, try either a Squid Sambal, or Beef Rendang or Fried Chicken. Of if you really want to go local, the chewy beef lung (or Paru - pronounced pa-roo)
    Use fork & spoon!
    Malaysians only eat Nasi Lemak with their hands at home. But most of us use Fork & Spoon for this at home anyway.
    First bite, mix some rice, with a piece anything crunchy (peanuts or achovies) for texture, & a bit of sambal (like less than a quarter or your spoon).
    2nd bite, if youve decided the spice level is not too much for you, add a bit of your protein.
    if it gets too spicy for you, eat a bit of cucumber to soothe your tongue.
    Experience the rice! It's called Nasi Lemak not Egg/Meat/Chicken RIce. A popular nasi lemak place, will have a rice that is fragrant with the smell of pandan leave, savoury with the taste of coconut milk with a hint of ginger. With that kind of rice, a simple humble sambal to go with it is already beautiful.
    Hope you consider this on your next Nasi Lemak trip :)

    If you cant take too spicy, try Village Park nasi lemak. Its a bit out of the city in a place called Damansara Utama. Accesible by Kelana Jaya LRT line to Kelana Jaya LRT station and then take a shuttle bus to Damansara Utama (tell the bus driver you want to get down near Starling Mall) or the easier option would be the Sungai Buloh MRT Line from KL and get down at TTDI MRT Station and then take a shuttle bus from there to Starling Mall Damansara Utama. The shop is across the road from the Starling Mall.

    This nasi lemak stall is next to my children's school, you walk past at the last part of the video. This nasi lemak is very popular among locals.

    You should try nasi kandar. In KL the best is Nasi Kandar Ibramsha 68, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, City Centre, 50100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur. Go guys! Tips : let them put all the gravy & eat with the ayam goreng (fried chicken)
