Rees - บันเทิง
I love how Nick and Simon each played a waste, an under achiever, and a hyper successful character.
I like how the movie is kind of a translation of how Gary sees adult life. The people he knew and loved were replaced by "robots", and they're trying to convert him too.
Ah, I never thought about it like that before. Yes you're right.
I'll always love the progression in the Three Cornetto protagonists' arcs. Shaun is a young-ish man who has to get serious about his life, Nicholas has gone too far in that direction and needs balance while Gary /never/ grew up, and now just wants to achieve one achievable thing - the Golden Mile - before opening his wrists for a second and final time. The intricate web of set-ups and pay-offs are more than punchlines, here. Pegg's performance is heart-rending, and I really hope him, Wright and Frost work together again, some day.
Before watching your reaction... I hope you got the deeper meaning of the entire reason why King was so desperate to get this quest done... I only say look closely on his wrists when he talks about his time in the psychiatric ward. This is by far the deepest and darkes movie of the trilogy!
I'm almost positive she'll get it. Its not necessarily subtle lmao
@@wisp3936 I've seen tons of reactions where it went completely unnoticed. So...
@@wisp3936 See... she sadly didnt notice it! 🥺
@@Smido83 lol damn, I haven't tuned in yet. That's unfortunate
@@Smido83 Its sad people rarely see it i agree buddy
As you love Simon and Nick's chemistry, I'd highly recommend watching 'Paul" too. 😊
Paul, lets goooooo. Another one of my fav's because of the duo.
@@Kraev369 Oh crumbs, that one's so good too! Definitely check it out.
@@DarkPatu lol 🤣
I've always been a bit sad that they never starred in a film of Asterix and Obelix, since they basically played those two characters in a lot of their work together...
Yesss PAUL!!!!! 🙃
The film was openly advertised as a sci-fi alien invasion film when it first came out, so it's always great to see people go into this film without knowing that and then seeing their reaction to the kid's head coming off in the bathroom.
I love this film, Hot Fuzz is still my favourite of the trilogy but this is definitely a really close second for me. The performances are great, the action is phenomenal and the script is so clever and full of loads of details you probably miss on your first viewing, such as how the names of the pubs coincide with a key element of the plot that happens there, or Gary's monologue at the start summarising the plot of the entire film going forward, or this key line of dialogue before they set off for Newton Haven:
"I think they missed a trick only having three [musketeers], five sounds much better. That way, two could've died and there'd still be three left."
Yeah I'm sooooo glad I never saw a trailer. What a crazy experience.
Yo, Edgar Wright *Loves* foreshadowing in his stories. I mean, the whole opening on the 1st go of the Golden Mile is a perfect parallel to their 2nd attempt. They drop off after the same pubs, Gary punches the same wall...
And to show it's not just in World's End, in a completely different film, Baby Driver, look at the coffee sequence - you see Baby get Coffee and there's grafitti of a heart that changes colour from black to red in the same shot (after he sees Deborah). As he leaves the shop, he comes face to face with the police and a preacher starts shouting at him, not to mention that he almost gets hit by a car.
Edgar Wright is an actual genius, and I don't use that word lightly.
Shame. The twist is absolutely incredible when watching it blind.
Some studios just don't understand the value of a good plot twist. Imagine if the Matrix trailers were like: "IN THE FUTURE... THE MACHINES RULE ALL!"
In case you were wondering, Bill Nighy does show up in this movie too. He plays the 'Big Lamp'
To explain Gary's ending (probably badly) he basically gets his happy ending of being with his friends even as blanks but the past version of them from the original night if that makes sense the blanks are the young versions of the friend group
There's also an element of the King Arthur legend at play where he's the Once and Future King and the others are the Knights of the Round Table. The whole film makes little references to legendary quests the whole way through. There's references to Greek stuff, Norse stuff, Arthurian legends etc. So it's deliberately staged that he gets to become the legendary hero of his dreams at the end. Thats also why he isn't drinking anymore because he's actually achieved something in life.
@@alphaomega7191 i did know of the whole King Arthur side but not the rest quite interesting, love how there's always more to find out and notice in Edgar Write's movies. Thanks for the extra info
The larger issue is that Gary found purpose to "fight for what is right, because that is how we survive" and didn't need to hold onto the past anymore. That's why he's all cleaned up and ordered water instead of beer.
Steve is played by Paddy Considine who plays King Viserys I Targaryen on "House of the Dragon" and just kills it.
Paddy Considine is one of the greatest actors in the world. Just watch a movie called DEAD MANS SHOES.
You got a mustache
@@yaqubebased1961I know
Paddy’s lines and delivery in this movie are incredible!
Lots of this & parts of Hot Fuzz were filmed in & around my town. I prefer HF but The World's End was one of the first films I worked on so it's pretty special to me.
That's awesome! What was your job on set?
Fun reaction but one thing:
Gary tried to end his life, that's why he was in therapy. He didn't shave because he wasn't allowed to have a razor and that's the reason why he didn't want to show his arms. He desperately wanted to recreate the best night of his life before finally ending it.
After the end he overcame the depression, that's why he shaved and ordered water at the end.
Really dark once you know it. Sadly that's how really depressed people act many times, they want to relive their greatest times once more and act all happy/hyped.
At the end, Gary is hanging out with the blank versions of the groups younger selves and is doing the mile again this time with water,
Ah - you know what - I've seen this film a few times and never quite got that. It makes a lot more sense, now - and is way more hopeful, 'cause presumably he'll complete it ///then/// be able to move on.
@@karlkoley - Watch it and consider that Gary is King Arthur and a lot of things fall into place too, Andy is Merlin, Steve is Lancelot etc. They are borrowing from quest legends a lot "The Mermaid" is full of Sirens trying to lead them to their doom for instance. So that ending is showing that he's better (not drinking) but also that he's sort of become the Once and Future King - the hero that he always wanted to be. It's a really interesting mix of Grandiose Quest story/ Sci-Fi Invasion film and talking about the need to grow up eventually but not lose your individuality in doing that.
In my opinion, this one has the best writing of the trilogy in terms of story and characters, but I do not think it is as funny.
I was just gonna write this. It’s so underrated. This movie is hilarious imo. The other 2 are perfect movies. This one of the best trilogies imo. I can’t pick a favorite of the 3. My favorite is the one I’m watching at the moment if that makes sense
it's interesting that you said "wow, nick frost!" because he's in the later seasons of the post-apocalyptic martial arts series _into the badlands_
Love your personality. You’re always fun to watch and your videos always improve my mood. Love this trilogy too.
Buy soundcore Liberty 4 on Amazon: soundcore.tech/jbaPcY
Which one of the three Cornetto movies is your favorite? Mine is Shaun of the Dead! (all three of them are VERY good and still some of the best directing I've seen)
Mine is The World's End, which I think is a reflection of my age(40s) and my past struggle with addiction. I found this film profoundly moving.
Hot Fuzz for me, Simon playing a straight guy is the funniest thing 🤣
This movie definitely needs a rewatch, there's a lot going on, Nick Frost fighting was great like in Tne Badlands
the badlands? the 70s movie with sissy spacek and martin sheen?
Frost Foo
@@mikemath9508 Into the Badlands, the TV show. His character there gets fight scenes too.
I love watching u enjoy these movies and listen to what u learn from this film. That’s why I love movies and watching ur reactions they are so pure
That ending scene with Gary and Andy at the last bar is so good
"Fuck off you big lamp" will ALWAYS be the best line in films, EVER.
Recommendation
This doesn't have to be a reaction (I don't even know if you do reactions to other youtubers), but CinemaWins is a great channel that does deeper analysis on the films he reviews, and he's done the whole trilogy. If you feel like you missed anything, Lee probably has you covered.
I don't know if you caught it, since this is edited down, but Gary is a really tragic character at the end; dude's whole plan was to drink the night away...to wrap up his life. He never planned to go home after this night.
Paddy Considine (who plays Steve) is an amazing actor. He's absolutely chilling in a film called "Dead Man's Shoes" which I'd recommend as a watch for anyone.
He killed it in this season of "House of the Dragon" too.
I was actually kind of worried you wouldn't do this one; I've seen a lot of people only watch Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz and then never this. Hot take, but this one has got to be my absolute favourite of the three, and I'm glad to see it on your channel!
ANT-MAN was a fairly decent movie, though very formulaic and predictable
But if EDGAR WRIGHT had done it, it would've been groundbreaking
Yeah, you can tell there are moments that Wright definitely wrote (e.g. Luis' storytelling), but it's unfortunate that we didn't get to see his vision. Honestly this might be the MCU's biggest mistake. You don't hire a director like Wright and than micromanage him. They should've just trusted him to make whatever he wanted
@@nolanrussell6326 interesting is that the montages where actually not by Wright BUT they were fought of by the actor(s) which Wright was involved in with casting heavily (like all of his movies) so indirectly they were still because of the framework Edgar Wright gave.
There is one specific video I always find very interesting about what he Ant-Man could have been under Wright, unfortunately it is in German (I am from Germany) but I will leave a link here non the less...
th-cam.com/video/4vGMlISShuw/w-d-xo.html
I recommend attack the block. It’s produced by Edgar wright. It’s one of John boyega’s first roles. Nick frost has a small part in it. It’s about A teen gang in South London defend their block from an alien invasion.
Not done yet, you've still got Attack the Block (2011). It's like a bonus addition to the trilogy, spiritually very similar.
Attack the Block is definitely a more worthy spiritual bonus addition than Paul was.
@@thepanpaladin1043 I forgot about Paul, did Wright also work on that one?
@@petrinafilip96 no, Wright did not work on Paul.
This is my favorite of the trilogy. It's also the most mature of the three, but that's just also by nature of Edgar Wright and and co. working together for so long by now (especially if you've watched their great comedy series, Spaced).
26:56 - Bill Nighy (again) as "The Network" (the big lamp).
AKA: Stepdad Philip, from Shaun Of The Dead.
I quite like it when Directors use many of the same cast in other movies, although this is the world of Cornetto.
Weird extra trivia: Bill Nighy also played Davy Jones in... "At World's End". lol
The fights in this were choreographed by Brad Allen's stunt team. Allen was an Australian gymnast and martial artist who was the only Westerner to ever be hired into the ultra-exclusive Jackie Chan Stunt Team.
Sadly, Brad Allen died last year. But he helped pioneer a new style of screen fighting, that can be seen in movies like KINGSMAN.
You gotta watch spaced... Edgar Wright directed, Simon Pegg stars and co-wrote, Nick Frost plays his best friend... it is basically part of the franchise
Worlds end is my favourite movie ever, there's so many small details, I've seen it about 20 times and every time I'll spot something new
Watched ‘spaced’ 90’s tv sitcom from the same people. Amazing
Really good series, Your commentary is always so good
i loveeeeeee itttttt, excited to watch with you 💜
3 movies. 2 different James Bond actors. Classic!
Best line in the whole movie "To err is human, so... err..."
A. I love how Martin Freeman's (Oliver) earpiece stays in the entire movie. And ...
B. I just realized that Steven is played by Paddy Considine, who modern audiences will better know as King Viserys in House of the Dragon.
Also notice that after he comes out from the bathroom as a blank, his earpiece is constantly blinking, as if he's continuously taking a call (connected to the network).
Also also notice, only Oliver and Peter wear blue, and are the only members of the group to get turned into blanks.
Thank you for the video! I love your thoughts on it.
This movie is really interesting when you consider this was inspired by Edgar, Nick, and Simon's distaste for how when people see them they see the other films they did in the trilogy. In fact they even got letters saying "Hey I'd love to go on a pub crawl with you!" but it was clear they meant Shaun, or Ed, or Danny, or Nicholas Angel. They aren't the people who made those films anymore, they'll never be those people anymore, and Simon in particular had a bad bout with alcoholism. Something so bad that even the birth of his kid didn't bring him out of it, which is a terrifying experience. He even admitted quite a few things in this film were a cry for help. This film is an expression that the three men have grown and matured out of being solely like the people their younger selves were.
I think that makes it the best one from an outside the story context because it's about how being trapped in that nostalgia can be incredibly unhealthy, especially if you let it entirely consume you like Gary has. The film even ends with Gary still being a loser, but he also changed for the better by a noticeable amount.
Best twist, a long with the fact that the events are all laid out in the intro. Great film.
Ooh there are new Soundcores? I like their Liberty Pro line. I'll have to keep an eye out for when they release the 4s of those.
You’re right, it is about time I subscribed.
never teared up during this movie. now I did. wtf. good reaction.
There are a lot of things to catch on a second viewing of this movie....
It was also fun getting some Easter eggs having been a Sisters of Mercy fan myself from the '90s. It was fun watching this in a theater and being the only one to laugh while hearing the musical cue on the appearance of Blank Gary.
LOVE THIS SO MUCH
Simons character represents people with depression very well. But mostly only such people get this. For all the others the movie is just funny.
It definitely does need a rewatch. Take note of the small stuff going off in the backgrounds. The pub names and notice boards found within for example.
My favorite of the trilogy! Thanks for the reaction 🍿👏
The ending is Gary becoming Gary King... of the Humans.
The whole film borrows from classic quest stories and if you watch it and see him as King Arthur a heck of a lot of things suddenly fall into place. He's literally become the Once and Future King at the end, the hero that he's always wanted to be and is re-united with his Knights of the Round Table (the Blanks of his friends) and for the first time in the film seems truly happy.
*Shawn of the Dead*
-Nick played as a loser
-Simon played as average Joe
*Hot Fuzz*

-Simon played as a professional
*The World's End*

Ive been waiting for this one
The best news is that recently Simon Pegg said that he and Edgar were "circling an idea" for another movie.
I love your reaction videos 🥰
Awesome job, its been a minute since I've seen the movie.
nick frost was in the TV series " into the badlands " with daniel wu. it was a pretty cool marial arts series and he had plenty of fight scenes in there.
I like how she talks about this world needing to be a better place, not realizing that civilization just crashed. For me this is the best movie of the series. Very relatable.
I've seen this movie when it came out, then I've watched it again two or three years ago. It got darker through those years, and I've noticed a lot of details that I wasn't aware of at the first time. Like that the 12 pubs are 12 steps in the AA program (each step requires doing something; I remember one requires to apologize to the people that were hurt, right?), and if you pause at 2:58 ... there are 12 people sitting in the circle.
The other thing ... the story Garry is telling at the AA meeting ... it's the summary of the whole movie. Almost, because he put some more details at the motel, where they've left the luggage. History repeats itself, I guess ... right?
I think the history repeating thing is deliberate in that the whole film is just another epic quest tale like Arthur or the Greek tales, the details might change in these stories but the core behind them remains the same. Each of the pubs names has significance in the events that occur in or around them ,the Mermaid has the seductive greek style Sirens trying to lure them to their doom for instance. They have taken a ton of different sources and referenced things all the way through. The Arthurian references are plentiful, things like Steve being Lancelot in love with Sam (Guinevere) and going away only to appear again in the final battle are nods to those legends . It's such an amazingly densely layered work that comes off as something a lot deeper than expected.
2:24 In the U.K the legal drinking ag is 18
Now that you've gone through the trilogy, I think it would be cool to see like a video discussing it as a collection. Just a thought! You do you
Good film and an even better review and reaction .
You are my new fav 4 reactions ❤❤❤
It’s not that you are too loud, it’s that we have to turn up the audio to hear the movie and then turn it down when you talk… it’s about balance.
I just noticed at 13:41 that Simon Pegg was gonna say “did you see his head go?” Lmao callback to Shaun of the dead
That was a fantastic trilogy commentary. “Spaced”, I still recommend it, even if you don’t add it to the channel. As for which of the three I like the most, it would be Hot Fuzz for me.
I've seen this before and totally forgot about everything else but them going pub to pub. So weird 😂
Great reactions to your final Cornetto trilogy film, Ange!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Definitely not the movie you thought it was going to be. The movie took a sharp turn into sci-fi. The blanks Gary was with at the end were the young versions of his friends. It is hard to tell as they are very beat up.
thanks for video )
I absolutely love this film, I think it's severely underrated! Also, fun fact, I'm drinking out of that same mug! I guess we have to highlander fight for the title or something.
Many of the pubs are buildings in either Letchworth Garden City or Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire, England. I do my weekly shopping there in the Morrisons opposite the Broadway theatre and cinema that was one of them, I half expect to see Nick Frost and Simon Pegg to walk out.
Nicely put Angelina.
I have to watch this full movie now!
This might be the best reaction video I’ve ever seen (I’m biased though it’s one of my favorite movies)
The third and final film in the Three Flavors Trilogy.
The name of each pub represented what was going to happen in each scene; the monologue at the beginning spelled out the plot of the movie.
Watch the movie again, knowing that information, and things will click into place.
The fact that you dont know where this is going is hilarious. I wish i went into this film like you did.
This is my favourite of the trilogy, and was filmed in my grandmother's town
I love this movie because just the friends getting together would have been enough. Add in amazing fight scene's and 👽 amazing.
Edgar Wright should direct KINGSMAN

I feel like Angelina will love hitch hikers guide to the galaxy! If not Yes please
Whenever a movie has a crazy and sudden change(i.e. Parasite) my best friend and I call that a "Worlds End moment."

One Of My Fave Simon Pegg Movies Is Hector And The Search For Happiness!🤣🙆♀️🥰🙊🖥❤️
Soundcore is actually a headphone brand I like. My last two sets of headphones were soundcore. They're basically just a good as raycons but less than half the price.
I love watching Nick Frost & Simon Pegg films. Shaun of the Dead was class, and Hot Fuzz was great too.
The Worlds End pub is in the south of England. Past the sign a couple of yrs ago, but never got to visit. Planning to be there next year, so hoping to pop in for a beer, lol.
Great movie. So much action.
Hot Fuzz will always be my favourite of the trilogy, but every time I watch this film, I like it more and more to the point where it’s on par with Shaun of the Dead as second favourite
This is honestly my favorite Edgar Wright movie ✊😭 It's both fun and real and wild and a lot
Fun fact, there's tons of hidden easter eggs that hints what happened to the town. In the intro when they are outside on the hill look closely at the sky. Also notice the names of each pub.
Love this one
I just realised there's a jump/fall over a hedge in this movie too.
This is my all time favourite movie🥰
One movie that I think you would like is Robin hood men in tights. Then you could get into the Carey Ewles movies. He is a great actor in that as well as the princess bride
One of my favorite movies of all time
Still love the Sisters of Mercy Shirt, that Simon Pegg is wearing
Also, you need to see Attack the Block.
Best movie of the Cornetto Trilogy and best Simon Pegg movie ever, i don't care.
I always love that subtle new york accent
If you enjoy Nick Frost fighting, definitely check out Into the Badlands! I'm not sure when his character is introduced, but the show has some incredible fight scenes in it
First episode of season 2.
this movie is life
This is the rule I was told when I was about 15 and the concept of drinking alcohol was first properly explained to me. Ok? So - "Licquor then beer, never fear; beer then licquor, never sicker." Clear? If you're going to do spirits, do it right at the beginning when you are fully intact, then stick to beer which is low enough alcohol you can keep it under control. If you do the reverse, move on to spirits after many beers, you will suffer badly. It may result in a funny tale for your friends, but you won't be there.
