Wow, out of all the TH-camrs I’ve seen react to this movie, you seem to “get” it more than any of them. I saw this in theaters and it immediately became one of my favorite movies. There’s so many geeky details it’s hard to catch them all, like the two instances of Zelda music (at the beginning you hear the intro for Link to the Past, and during the locker room dream sequence you hear Zelda’s Theme), the fact that the bands are named after NES games (Clash at Demonhead, Crash ‘n the Boys), and that the twins literally fight using Double Dragons.
i watched the cinema wins video after this and i saw the legend of zelda thing he caught and i was SHOOKETH i didnt get it the first time. sucha good detail
FUN FACT: The original ending of the movie had a more dramatic farewell between Scott and Ramona, then Scott getting back together with Knives. Bryan Lee O'Malley hadn't finished the comic yet, and an alternate ending was made to better reflect what the ending of the comic became (which of course became the theatrical ending). Both endings were shown to test audiences, and, in the commentary, Edgar Wright notes that older age groups tended to prefer the original Knives ending, while younger ones tended to prefer the Ramona ending.
I would definitely not have liked to see him end up with Knives because she's still 17 and he's 22. I think I agree with the people who said they'd rather he not wind up with either because I don't like the idea of Ramona being a literal prize to be won after Scott fights all those people. I mean, he earned the power of self-respect, but what about respect for others? But better Ramona than Knives.
@@kateiannacone2698 The age difference is a big deal at that point in their lives, because she's still in high school, but she's also legal...in Canada. Of course their relationship wasn't sexual at that point anyway, but it's only a 5-year gap. In 3 years, no one would think anything of it. Having said that, it IS made clear that Scott is just using Knives as a rebound...but it's also made clear how much he and Knives have in common, and how compatible they are ("You two make a good combo."). I see it as Scott failing on 2 fronts. Putting Ramona on a pedestal without considering her feelings, and neglecting Knives without realizing how good he has it with her.
Ange: the transitions, the style, the music. everything is so great in this film! 10/10!!! Chris Evans: *crushes perfectly good cup of coffee* Ange: 4/10
The whole "Nega-Scott" part is REALLY important to Scott's personal arc. He's litterally accepted his negatives, the doubt he has in his heart, and all of the mistakes he's made in the past. Him not defeating his negative self is not a sign of weakness, him befriending it is a sign of self-acceptance.
Not to mention it's a reference to the Legend of Zelda, which has a ton of references in the movie. In Zelda II: Adveture of Link You have to fight Dark Link at the end of the game, which is a completely black sprite that's just a silhouette of Link. In later games he has red eyes.
@@hiroprotagonitisI don’t think he’s a trash person. I think he’s just a nice guy who got thrown into a bunch of trash situations, and he doesn’t really know how to cope with that at all. He’s also kind of oblivious to stuff happening around him which only makes situations worse for him. I personally view nega scott being nice in the complete opposite way you do. I view it is a sign that deep down scott is just a really friendly guy and even the most negative part of him is kind of nice.
22:00 Funny detail from the comics to answer that question: The evil exes weren't started until after the seventh got dumped by Ramona. Gideon ranted about her online, and the other exes joined in. And that's how the League was started. A bunch of people Ramona broke up with ranting about her in a chat room and vowing to ruin her love life to make her get back with Gideon.
Hands down to one of the best movies made in 2010. And they filmed it here in my hometown of Toronto. Also Chris Evans and Brie Larson starred in this movie before they worked together again in Avengers Endgame.
I loved the comic series and couldn't wait for the film (this was peak Michael Cera and Edgar Wright era). But the marketing and exposure was terrible. I literally had to drag a couple friends to the theater because neither knew what the film was (they're both huge video game nerds, so they ended up loving it). I'm so glad the movie has worked its way into cult classic status, but I kind of wish it had hit the ground running at release. Also, cold >>>>>>> hot
Exactly. I was in Highschool when this movie came out on DVD. And because i LOVED that movie, i told everyone about it. But nobody even heard of that movie before. Then one day we had time to watch a movie at school and i suggested Scott Pilgrim straight away and was allowed to bring the DVD. It was so cool to see their reactions while watching the movie. Nobody expected it to be good, but they all loved it in the end :D
Ah yes, I remember I kept seeing it on the promo shelf in Barnes and Noble, so I picked it up and read it. Her face at 14:32 was my face during those last 15 pages of that first graphic novel. It came so out of left field. I decided to look it up online and TH-cam to see what people said, but all I got was a book review and a Plumtree music video. Then I saw they were making a movie, which was coming out in a year by the Shaun of the dead director. And Starring Michael ceramic, so. I figured it might be in good hands. It was 2009. Sad part was I had to wait a whole year. (2010) I avoided any news on it due to trauma from following the Dragonball evolution movie development news in 2008 🤣
If you noticed every ex does something that coincides with their number, like Patel covers 1 eye cuz he is ex number 1, Scott wore a shirt with Zero to symbolize he isn’t an evil ex, and the fantastic four 1/2 shirt Scott wore was after Roxy ex number 4 cuz Ramona said that he was an evil waiting so he was going to the dark side a little bit.
Lucas Lee pointed using two fingers. Todd wore a shirt with the number 3. Roxy fought Scott in a club called 4. Also four X chromosomes make two girls. The Katayanagi twins turn up their volume to 11, the sum of 5 and 6. Gideon complained about swallowing his gum, which he said would be in his intestines for 7 years (a myth.) Also, G is the seventh letter in the alphabet. Honestly, there are so many nods to the graphic novel in this movie that it's worth rewatching a whole bunch.
I still listen to the Brie Larson song every now and then. All the music is so good. Also there are hundreds of visual easter eggs about the exs like how they all give a different amount of points or that the third ex has a 3 on his shirt. Overall a great movie with a lot of love in it.
That song is called Black Sheep, by Metric. The original is awesome. My wife has the album. Which is another layer to the film. Because the Clash and Demonhead is a band signed to a label, and it's the song that is from a real band.
oh, we about to go on an edgar wright binge? cause this was his style all the way through, the cuts, transitions, editing: all quintessential edgar wright
omg I been waiting for this my entire life, just to talk about this movie so... here you go 1. When Scott meets Ramona for the first time you can see the light switch so uncomfortably high as a way to visually show how uncomfortable the situation is, the same way that it would be really uncomfortable to turn off that light. 2. As Angelina falls in love with all this "swoops" and scene transitions, thats Edgar Wright's way to show love to the comics created by Bryan Lee O' Malley the original creator of Scott Pilgrim. 3. Edgar Wright is the type of director that's in love with details he dosen't care if you get to see them or not he will put them there anyway. 4. Michael Cera was the only actor at set that actually knew how to play his instrument, the bass, all the other actors had to learn how to play their instruments. 5. Famous artist Beck created a lot of Sex Bob-Ohm songs, the actors mention that they felt nervous to play the songs infront of Beck. 6. When a secen transition motions to the left, right, up or down you well very much, usually see the characters look or move to that direction as the transition is made, to make it feel like a comic. 7. The secen where Scott goes to pee wasn't made with any editing that's just one shot, the bathroom set was on wheels as Scott enters the bathroom they rotate the room to the next scene. 8. The scene where Scott signs for his package and throws it into the dumpster took like 50 something retrys to make, as Michael Cera kept on missing the dumpster. 9. Edgar Wright has a great love for music, you can also see it in Baby Driver, and you can very much see it here aswell the song that plays as Ramona and Scott kiss for the fist time is called By Your Side by Beachwood Sparks and if you read the lyrics of the song it very much talks about on what's gonna be the future for Scott and Ramona. 10. hmm... Scott's a menwhore and he has been a dick to pretty much everyone he has dated except for Envy. 11. And this is a long one maybe. But every single one of the members of the Evil League of Exes they all show characteristics that belong to their number for example: Matthew Patel is the first ex, he wears just one patch on his jacket and covers only one of his eyes. Lucas Lee being the second one has a tattoo with the number 2 on his neck and his shirt and merch has only 2 strips. I'll leave it at only those two but you can notice this type of stuff on every single ex. 12. Like every movie we have doubles for the main cast so they won't get hurt, but still Edgar Wright had the whole cast working out every morning so they would be limber, ready and in shape. 13. The doubles that you see on secen for Lucas Lee are actually Chirs Evans doubles. I'll leave it at 13 this is a great film and from great films like this and great directors like Edgar Wright you can get a thousand fun facts, I love everything that graces Edgar Wright touch, watch Baby Driver or any of the cornetto trilogy. I'm sorry if I had any typos english is very much not my first language, but I really love this film.
Man, I love this film so much. It shows how incredible Edgar Wright is. I saw this twice opening day, and thirteen times the first week in theaters. I even convinced the theater to give me a giant 10 ft standee for it.
So the whole cast reunited online in the middle of the pandemonium to do a read along of the script and it was amazing! (Almost the whole cat, sadly Kieran Culkin and Brie Larson weren’t there but freaking Chris Evans was), they included the songs and everything. It’s here in TH-cam if you’re interested.
Yeyyy!! Ange is cultured now 😃 Scott Pilgrim VS The World is definitely a movie that everyone should watch at least once so I’m really happy you finally got to watch it. And ahhhhhh, you really liked it too!! I knew you would. The film screams Ange- and I say this not just because of Ramona.
Everything in this movie-- Every cut, every edit, every sound effect is polished to shine. All of those transitions could have been boring regular cuts, but instead they went the extra mile to make them dynamic and unique and super expressive. I love this movie, I love Edgar Wright, and I love watching people see it for the first time and get blown away by the style. This is one of the best reactions I've seen. Thanks and I'll be back.
Edgar Wright is easily my favorite director, he's so good at what he does and all of his films are such a joy to watch. This girl made one of the best decisions of her life with watching Scott Pilgrim 😁
The cuts and scene changes were specifically designed to mimic the panel transitions of a comic book. Thus why characters seem to "jump around" in the scene.
@@Ambaryerno Even more than that, they're trying to demonstrate that Scott is floating through life while barely interacting with it. ("You only played one note for that entire song.") The jump cuts are jarring, but feel cohesive. They're tied together by cool tricks like conserving direction of camera pan, hijacking the 180 rule, creating connecting lines of dialog to link the cuts together, etc. There's an illusionary through line to them, because Scott imagines he is actually living his life. More than just replicating the source material, these edits are here to specifically tell us about Scott, his mental state and his world.
"It reminds me of a video game, or a comic book, or a graphic novel or something." The movie was based off of a series of graphic novels, which also leaned into all the video game tropes. There was also a video game. I always liked to play as Kim Pines.
Edgar Wrigth is truly a master of editing and scene transitions. Some are on sound cue, some are on camera movement, some are on dialogue and everything just flows so perfectly it actually helps tell the story instead of being just flashy or for show.
I like that the gorilla was _literally_ a Green Eyed Monster, and that the pedal that Scott pushed to summon it was labeled "G.E.M." 😁 (Also, that he said "Ciao, Knives" to Knives Chau.)
This is hands down my favorite movie of all time, the first time I washed it back in 2010, I legit watched it 3 times in a row. Now I can quote it word for word in it’s entirety. Weird flex, I know lol.
WTF, I literally just finished watching Scott Pilgrim, went to sleep and I wake up finding out you put this video out exactly while I was watching it. XD. Life is full of funny surprises.
This is a movie that may not have done very well in the box office, but will be discussed in film school for decades to come. The cast did a 10 year reunion table read (over Zoom, because pandemic) not too long ago, which shows just how impactful this movie was to those actors and Edgar Wright.
I accidentally bought it from a video rental place nearly a decade ago by renting it, leaving it on Replay in the background with me and my roommate gaming on our computers, watched it maybe 140 odd times over a couple weeks and never returned it. I think it cost me $85 or something like that, after all fees and charges.
It's funny actually because the actress who played the teenage girl (Knives) is actually like, 4 years older than Michael Cera (Scott). She's 37 now and he's 33
I saw this in theaters and it blew my mind! I liked it at the 8-bit Universal theme and was flat out in love by the time of the first musical number into the title card. I love seeing other peoples' first reactions to it. There was a recent 10-year anniversary round table stream on here, where most of the original cast read through the script and the creator Bryan Lee O'Malley had original art as well. That is a good time to see (almost) everyone 10 years later.
One of my favourite movies, and huge 90's gamer vibes. Most of the shots in the movies were 1:1 adaptations cut straight from the original comic the movie is based on. They did an awesome job with this, and most of the actors - who are huge now - were only up and coming around the time of release.
Things you do when it's too cold: Bundle up in comfy layers. Eat hearty foods. Snuggle with somebody cute. Things you do when it's too hot: Dehydration. Delirium. Death. Cold wins.
14:30 I love the way he says “Mr PILGRIM!!!” it makes me laugh everytime 😂😂😂 this movie is basically a live action anime to me like the way people act and fight is very anime like
You gushed over this movie the way Knives gushed over Scott for most of the movie... You're not wrong, this movie is just so good. I can't believe it didn't do better in theaters. Lost out to a brainless action movie if you can believe it. PS: I love the name of the song they sing when Knives first shows up to watch, Launchpad McQuack. I love me some Duck Tales reference.
The kung pow chicken line? He's a bad guy you're not supposed to like him lmao, hollywood has already sacrificed enough comedy in the name of being politically correct, even bad guys can't say bad things so everybody is just gray and boring
man it's an amazing feeling to watch someone enjoy this movie as much as i would want someone to enjoy it. one of my favs of all time that i feel like people haven't given a chance
This is very off topic but, me and two friends were deciding on a movie and picked this. Not even 30mins after I saw you post this. It was such fun timing 😂
For sake of clarification, the legal age of consent in Ontario, Canada, is 16. Legally Scott is in the clear, as to the ethical/morality of the situation, that would be for each person to decide for themselves.
You know this movie is based on the web-comic of the same name! Both are fairly good, but Scott in the comic is more satirical in his depiction of being a bit of selfish nerd where-as in the film its a lot lighter and more nuanced. I like them both a lot and I'm so glad you're reacting to this masterfully edited film!
I heavily recommend the comic series. Love this movie but there is a point where it diverges from the source material quite a bit cause it's only 2 hours long.
I just watched this for the first time a few months ago and fucking loved it. Incredible imagery, the storyline was great, the line delivery…. *chefs kiss*
Saw this three times in the theaters, bought the soundtrack, and pondered a Knives Chou cosplay. As soon as I saw you react to the opening scene, I knew you were going to love this. You earned yourself a Subscribe
My favorite fun fact about this movie - In the title sequence, the actor's backgrounds give you a hint of who they are or a trope in the movie: Scott: 4 strings like on a bass guitar Ramona: The colors her hair goes through Wallace: Phone battery draining Lucas: Skateboard/his company logo + 2 X's Stacey: Coffee drips and stains Envy: Broken Heart Kim: ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR! Julie: Censored boxes Todd: Bass guitar + 3 X's Gideon: G-Man logo but drawn in a way where the number 7 is very distinguishable Young Neil: someone told me they were game cartridges Stephen: Guitar Roxy: Razor blade (to signify her weapon) + 4 X's Knives: The Sai (weapon she fights in the end with) Patel + Twins: A bunch of X's
I was so obsessed with this movie when it came out but a lot of that was because I'm from Toronto and enjoyed the graphic novels so much. Seeing it years later, I know now it truly is a masterpiece beyond the setting.
They did a rerelease in theatres back in May. I went to a matinee showing with only a handful of other people in the auditorium and it was...totally badass 😎 Hopefully they’ll do another rerelease in the next few years so you can get that experience.
Edgar Wright is the master. And yet for some reason his movies never sell big, they always become cult classics after the fact. Someone give him ALL the moneez! This movie in particular is my spirit movie, it hits so many nails on the head for me :)
What they never mention in the film is that Scott is actually really good at fighting. He fought off something like 100 dudes and a giant robot for Kim back in highschool.
Since you enjoyed the stylistic elements, dialogue, and cartoon intersitials, you might enjoy the original comics by Bryan Lee O’Malley-the movie draws heavily from them (except the last section with Gideon, which needed to be made up by the film team bc the series wasn’t done.) I think the comics also do a good job of rounding out secondary characters like Kim and deal more with Scott’s underlying jerk behaviour.
I saw this movie on opening night @ the Arclight here in Hollywood. Full house. The trailer for Devil came on before the film. Great trailer... then the director's name came one and there was a LOUD groan from the audience. This was around the time of The Village, and The Lady in the Water...
Scott is lowkey the villain - for his treatment of Kim and Knives in particular, among some of his other toxic behaviors. It is reinforced three times in the script. Kim "or are you just evil?", Ramona "you're just another evil ex waiting to happen", and Scott himself (Nega-Scott, his opposite, is a 'great guy'). Doesn't detract from my enjoyment though and I love the style of this movie! Edgar Wright is one of the most creative directors working today. When you rewatch, pay attention to the number symbolism. Scott is always a 'zero'. The in movie comic scenes are done by the creator, Brian Lee O'Malley, and the whole series is done in that cute, almost chibi style. I recommend checking it out.
Yeah just because a character is a protagonist doesn't mean they are good. Although Scott does learn how to be a somewhat better person at the end of the movie.
The comic actually does a much better job of showing that Scott is not a good guy and a much better job of developing him becoming slightly better, but it still makes it clear that Scott is not a good guy.
Edgar Wright is like Stanley Kubrick... But like... 13 years old, on acid and far more fun... He has a way of working that it seems he travelled to the future to see his own movie. The level of planning that goes into shooting his films is insane, he knows what shot is this, how does it work with the scene, what effects it needs and exactly what minute of the movie he's gonna use it in.... Doing all of it very nonchalantly, he's the Man... Or well, more accurately, the Kid.
@22:30 did you miss that Brie/Envy materializes out of her poster, with exactly the same outfit? This movie is amazing to watch and even better to rewatch. It's straight out of the comic. Since in comics characters very rarely are drawn with closed eyes, the director asked the actors not to blink during filming. Pay attention to that next time you watch the movie again.
Great reaction, You get this move!! When you have the spare time, I would recommend watching "Cinema wins, Scott Pilgrim" ( 2parts I think) There is so much going on that you miss the first time watching. Plus he covers how the cuts are done, and some of the why it works.
Is it really? :/ I watched like 75% of the first one and i disliked the writing and most of the characters so much. The first few minutes with Maya Hawke (love her) were great. But then it only got worse for me :( I've seen that Sadie Sink is in one of the other Fear Street Movies. Love her too. Does she have a more important role than Maya Hawke in the first movie? Are the later movies better than the first one?
Wow, yea when I first saw it? I didn't think much of it, but when my best friend gave me the trailer first? I was blown away, we bought the PPV that day and I couldn't get enough of it! And I can't believe no one ever noticed the stars in knife's chow eyes when she witnessed the band play at the beginning!
This might sound a little odd, but if you have a workout regimen I totally recommend getting your hands on the audio commentaries of this movie. There's at least 3 of them and they're all great. Some of the most fun workouts I've ever had. haha
Brandon Routh played Todd Ingram. He aslo played Superman in Superman Returns in 2006. Brie Larson played Envy Adams, but also is Captain Marvel. So in this movie ..... Superman is dating Captain Marvel. Well before he was head-butted into vegan oblivion coins! lol Welcome back, Angelina!
I never knew this would be recommended to me but my smart phone knows I love this movie lol Your commentary was worth it love. 🌠😌 Your hand over your mouth when he said "KUNG PAO CHICKEN" LOL that was cute but it is a comedy, I hope that joke isn't a real life racial slur but we all laugh at random racial jokes or the privelged white dude in a comedy. It depends on the person it offends but you are awesome love, you should never feel belittled amongst any words. 🙏🏾🌻

Fun fact: "Todd the vegan" (played by Brandon Routh) had to eat three whole chickens a day during the filming of this movie to maintain his bulk because he was still on retainer to reprise his role as Superman in a potential sequel to Superman Returns that never ended up happening. Although he later did in Arrowverse crossover event, in which he also played Ray Palmer/the Atom.
In 2010, I went to the Scott Pilgrim Blu-Ray signing at Amoeba Records. The director and cast were there; Director Edgar Wright, Jason Schwartzman (Gideon, X#7), Johnny Simmons (Young Neil), Mark Webber (Stephen Stills), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Ramona Flowers), Brandon Routh (Todd Ingram, X#3), Bryan Lee O'Malley (creator of the graphic novels), Anna Kendrick (Stacey Pilgrim), Satya Bhaba (Matthew Patel, X#1), and Mae Whitman (Roxy Richter, X#4). They were all fun to meet and signed every autograph for what must be hours. The best films of Wright are Shaun of the Dead (2004), his first movie and part of the Cornetto Trilogy, Hot Fuzz (2007), part two, and Last Night in Soho (2021), one of his best films. Outside of the cinema, a must is the tv show, Spaced (14 episodes), where he built his film style.
10:31 I do remember while watching this film, I started feeling uncomfortable, remembering a relationship where I felt I was very much a Scott to a Knives.
I LOVE THIS! I LOVE THIS! I LOVE THIS REACTION! This is one of my all-time favorite movies and seeing others geek out over it like I do is everything! My first video I've seen on your channel and you got my sub! Hell yeah! Edit: Now after watching your whole reaction, a couple of cool things to note. The drawings during Matthew Patel's backstory (as well as the one of scott when mentioning his haircut) are all done in the style of the original comic book.
Hey I'm also frm Toronto(Scarborough)
@@andythebehemoth9467 I’m from Scarborough too.
@@williamhu6941 Malvern?
That's a really mysterious land you live in
From TO as well. I love the scenes filmed at Bloor/Bathurst
I avoided any news on it due to trauma from following the Dragonball evolution movie development news in 2008 🤣
I think it's just way too weird of a movie to ever really have mainstream appeal. It absolutely screams "cult classic"
Don't say stupid things.
@@Onikame Clash at Demonhead is also an old video game on the NES just so you know.
oh, we about to go on an edgar wright binge? cause this was his style all the way through, the cuts, transitions, editing: all quintessential edgar wright
fuck yeah cornetto trilogy.
Just in time for Last Night in Soho (two months from now)
Shawn of the Dead is fucking amazing
He's called Young Neil as a reference to Neil Young, the musician. Also, the original graphic novels are fantastic, would highly recommend!
omg I been waiting for this my entire life, just to talk about this movie so... here you go
I even convinced the theater to give me a giant 10 ft standee for it.
hahahaha amazing
So the whole cast reunited online in the middle of the pandemonium to do a read along of the script and it was amazing!
(Almost the whole cat, sadly Kieran Culkin and Brie Larson weren’t there but freaking Chris Evans was), they included the songs and everything. It’s here in TH-cam if you’re interested.
Yeyyy!! Ange is cultured now 😃
Scott Pilgrim VS The World is definitely a movie that everyone should watch at least once so I’m really happy you finally got to watch it.
("You only played one note for that entire song.")
The jump cuts are jarring, but feel cohesive.
"It reminds me of a video game, or a comic book, or a graphic novel or something."
The movie was based off of a series of graphic novels, which also leaned into all the video game tropes.
I like that the gorilla was _literally_ a Green Eyed Monster, and that the pedal that Scott pushed to summon it was labeled "G.E.M." 😁
(Also, that he said "Ciao, Knives" to Knives Chau.)
I like to think it's Wendigo
@@motodork yeti
Oh I didn’t even realize the green eyed monster reference! Nice catch! What does the G.E.M. Have to do with it? I’m not a guitar expert…
@@rashaunellis1339 I don't think it's a guitar (or bass) reference, I think it literally just stands for "Green-Eyed Monster"
This is hands down my favorite movie of all time, the first time I washed it back in 2010, I legit watched it 3 times in a row. Now I can quote it word for word in it’s entirety. Weird flex, I know lol.

"Superman dated Captain Marvel". Try saying that over and over in your head until it makes sense.
I've been obsessed with this movie for the last couple months and Ive been wanting a good reaction to it!
Fun Fact:Some of Lucas Lee's stunt doubles are actually some of Chris Evans' stunt doubles in real life
It's funny actually because the actress who played the teenage girl (Knives) is actually like, 4 years older than Michael Cera (Scott).
I knew that through 80% of the reaction she would be:
"Stop, these transitions are AMMMAZING" xD
One of my favourite movies, and huge 90's gamer vibes.
Most of the shots in the movies were 1:1 adaptations cut straight from the original comic the movie is based on. They did an awesome job with this, and most of the actors - who are huge now - were only up and coming around the time of release.

Ahhh I saw this for the first time when I was 11-12 ! It’s such a weird witty classic and it’s so well done. I loved your reaction to it!
Love this movie! Glad to see your still doing the reaction videos!
I love watching people react to this when they really understand the effort that went into it. Edgar Wright is such a beast.
As a teen/student he went to the same cinema's I went/still go to.
“OMG the art is incredible”… and yet another person is converted to the awesomeness of Edgar Wright.
I like them both a lot and I'm so glad you're reacting to this masterfully edited film!
this movie is really cool, but your reactions and comments are even cooler♡
I heavily recommend the comic series. Love this movie but there is a point where it diverges from the source material quite a bit cause it's only 2 hours long.
I just watched this for the first time a few months ago and fucking loved it. Incredible imagery, the storyline was great, the line delivery…. *chefs kiss*
Saw this three times in the theaters, bought the soundtrack, and pondered a Knives Chou cosplay. As soon as I saw you react to the opening scene, I knew you were going to love this. You earned yourself a Subscribe
My favorite fun fact about this movie - In the title sequence, the actor's backgrounds give you a hint of who they are or a trope in the movie:
Scott: 4 strings like on a bass guitar
Ramona: The colors her hair goes through
Wallace: Phone battery draining
Lucas: Skateboard/his company logo + 2 X's
Stacey: Coffee drips and stains
Envy: Broken Heart
Kim: ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR!
Julie: Censored boxes
Todd: Bass guitar + 3 X's
Gideon: G-Man logo but drawn in a way where the number 7 is very distinguishable
Young Neil: someone told me they were game cartridges
Stephen: Guitar
Roxy: Razor blade (to signify her weapon) + 4 X's
Knives: The Sai (weapon she fights in the end with)
Patel + Twins: A bunch of X's
I was so obsessed with this movie when it came out but a lot of that was because I'm from Toronto and enjoyed the graphic novels so much. Seeing it years later, I know now it truly is a masterpiece beyond the setting.
YESSS i love scott pilgrim vs the world❤️ i feel like the more you watch it the more you will love it
They did a rerelease in theatres back in May. I went to a matinee showing with only a handful of other people in the auditorium and it was...totally badass 😎
Hopefully they’ll do another rerelease in the next few years so you can get that experience.

Actually it's so X-men. Havoc's powers to be exact.
No joke, Scott pilgrim vs the world is to me as Sex Bob omb is to Knives
Fun fact: The drawing Style is from the graphic novels done by the artist Brian lee O'Malley that the movie is based on.
There’s an alternate ending where he ends up with Knives
Edgar Wright is like Stanley Kubrick... But like... 13 years old, on acid and far more fun... He has a way of working that it seems he travelled to the future to see his own movie. The level of planning that goes into shooting his films is insane, he knows what shot is this, how does it work with the scene, what effects it needs and exactly what minute of the movie he's gonna use it in....
Doing all of it very nonchalantly, he's the Man... Or well, more accurately, the Kid.
I am a cold person, even though my heart always warms up watching this masterpiece
I’m currently watching anime on Netflix of Scott Pilgrim and I’m on episode three
@22:30 did you miss that Brie/Envy materializes out of her poster, with exactly the same outfit? This movie is amazing to watch and even better to rewatch.
It's straight out of the comic. Since in comics characters very rarely are drawn with closed eyes, the director asked the actors not to blink during filming. Pay attention to that next time you watch the movie again.
She should watch Scott Pilgrim Takes Off next
Great reaction, You get this move!!

Fun fact: "Todd the vegan" (played by Brandon Routh) had to eat three whole chickens a day during the filming of this movie to maintain his bulk because he was still on retainer to reprise his role as Superman in a potential sequel to Superman Returns that never ended up happening.
