As a woman, people make a lot of negative assumptions about you living alone, but now I am sixty I no longer care what people think. No life is perfect, make the best of yours.
I’m mid-60s. Been living alone for 25 years after a 12 year marriage. Retired. I don’t know of anyone shaming me for it.. in fact, many married men envy me. Lol. I read, I walk, I love my cat, I play piano, I home-gym every day.. small goals each day.
I am 57 and live alone. Living alone depends on the individual. Some people are very independent and don't mind it. Others like me really need to have someone because I have severe anxiety and depression and I could use a co-pilot, but I don't have anyone.
I'm 72, retired 15 years. Been divorced since I was 35, so for me, in my old age, living alone seems quite natural. I get out every morning for a 2 mile walk with my dog, and then like today, I worked on autumn-trimming-the-bushes in the back yard. A great day to be out in the sunshine and fresh air. I don't care how society views me.
It's fine to live alone providing you remain able to look after yourself without causing issues for others. If it's causing you to be self destructive then maybe you should rethink your ability to live alone.

Another great Video Phil. I spent my whole life living on my own or it seems that way! I was born with a brain defect that led me to be sheltered by my Family. Not a great idea when you have to go out in the Real World and educate and work. Had two relationships ..the last one 32 years ago…got very ill around that time. Anyway I am in my 60s now and would urge Parents to wise up their Child if that person has any problem..best over teenage years to get them ready for Society. Best thing I did was read a lot of books as well…great way to educate yourself. Audio Books are great too. Read the classics especially.
what you're saying is practical and encouraging -- balance is important, so is optimism and there are people out there who will attempt to drive you nuts -- this is probably their purpose in life
Good gosh! You are one of those people who goes through life worrying about what will people say, what will people do? I have been widowed for 37 years! If people want to think negatively about me, I don't care.
I prepare seasonally for what may come in that season. I already have my snow shovel, snow melt and snow broom ready for when it snow's. I have an old fashion can opener, battery lights fixtures, etc. in case electric goes out. I even have cough drops and cough medicine on hand if I get sick and can not get a dr's appointment soon.
I'm 65 and live alone . My girlfriend passed away of cancer. If I meet someone fine. It's not a priority and not realistic. I don't care what people or society think about me, I think they should be worried about what I think of them .
Pros and Cons... Depends on who you're with. If stress (arguing, financial, trust etc etc). is brought out with due to your relationship then it's not healthy, but if you have someone in your life where it's solid in all aspects and communication, trust, financial and even religion can play a factor. It's rare to find a unicorn but I suppose they exist.
I've had MANY guys tell me how lucky I am to be single. But I know from experience that many people take a dim view of a man who isn't being controlled by a woman.
Who cares what society thinks. Society gives no shits about you. It is healthy if you are enjoying your life. Life is what you make it not what others think you should make it.

not all of us need the company of others. i am an introvert and prefer to not be around people. Being around people drains me. I have hobbies, activities, and like to travel. i can do this alone and am quite happy.

@JackLopez-e9k just like you are a bitter, old man with anger issues around women?

I hear ya Phil. So glad I was a boy scout. Their motto is be prepared. That has served me well for 61 years.

Better to live alone than be in an unhealthy relationship, and who cares what Society thinks?
When "society" is trying to kill you, it matters what they think.
I am retired, so I don't have to give a crap about society anymore, life is good👍
A cranky old man.
Very well said.
Don't know what society says about living alone and don't care! 😂
Living alone is fine, but always living without love is not fine. I feel it the most at this holiday time of the year
