What's the use of comparing a word like broccoli? It's such a newly introduced vegetable. The name had no time to diverge. I would have been more interested in leek or parsnip.

Eerily similar to _col._ 😮 _Onion_ in some Slavic languages is _cebula_ (with minor regional spelling differences). Pretty obvious where that word came from. 😊 _Cauliflower_ in Scandinavia is _blomkål,_ literally "flower cabbage". So basically the same word, only with the compounds inverted. 😊
On the video, the Portuguese flag is shown, so I assume that you are referring to the language spoken in Portugal. Being so, in Portugal we say and write "brócolo" (singular) and "brócolos" (plural). If you want to refer to the Portuguese language spoken in all countries, I would suggest that you display "brócolos/brócolis". I just think that the information displayed about this vegeatable is misleading. Thank you.
In Romanian we have also "ai" from "allium" for garlic, it used mostly in Transilvania and " lăptucă" from "lactuca" for lettuce

Actually, onion in Latin is "cepa". Cepulla is the diminutive form.
Usturoi ( garlic) comes from "ustura"/ itches the eyes.
