Best is my pre-facelift 4,0L V8 Touareg TDi from 2020. It is about 200 KG lighter than this hybrid weight monsters and delivers instantly power (310kw, 900 Nm beginning from 1.250 revs) every time I needed. And not only for a little time when the battery is fully loaded. For example : with empty battery the Touareg Hybrid has only 450Nm instead of 700NM with full battery. And both are miles away from my 900Nm.
SQ7 Diesel owner, 3 children, here. Wanted to replace it with a full fat Range Rover Supercharged but didn’t like the ride. (My SQ7 has active roll bars and rear axle steering). So sticked to the Audi. Honestly no idea which car to get next, there is no reasonable alternative which checks all the boxes. Maybe I gotta try an X7 M60i
My dad has the pre facelift X5 (45e with M package like this one) and it is such a great car. Comfortable, even around corners and suspension is good over bumps in my opinion.
I used to be a benz tech and the newer GLE is an amazing car to drive. Iv taken them on multiple hour trips to short grocery trips and there's nothing like how comfy and quite it can be on the road. Here in Arizona the roads are either garbage or ok. And these cars make it feel smooth as hell
When you copy and paste so many times, sometimes you make a mistake. Since all 3 are basically the same car (Porsche, Audi, VW), I guess VW put the wrong price on the wrong copy :)
I owned a Q8 and did a similar evaluation in Q1. The new Q8 is basically the same as the old. Same with the Q7. The Touareg is OK but to expensive for what it is. The Cayenne was also very expensive and not the best car to buy in my line of work. I also wanted a diesel. The GLE and X5 remained. After testing both, the X5 turned out to be the best luxury SUV on the market (for my budget at least).
Personal opinion I really like the gear shifter on the touareg. I think it's very nice to rest the hand on it. Not a fan of the new trend with buttons or little nipples to change gears

£90,000 for a VW. This is ridiculous. Unless you earn over £100,000 you have no business buying any of these cars. People who buy these on their £40,000 wage will always be poor. Seeing the 50% deprecation after 3 years is amazing.

In our current climate where food prices are through the roof, first time buyers can’t get on the property ladder, landlords are putting rent close to minimum wage, and cost of fuel is giving billions in profit to fuel companies. Who on earth can afford 90K for a base level VW
I have a golf mark 7 estate 2020 probably worth about 15k and to be honest I think parts of the interior are superior to this 90k Tourareg. It has proper buttons on the wheel for a start! VW quality went down with the mark 8 golf which is bad enough but to have cost cutting on a 90k Tourareg is going too far. Overall it's a better interior but not by enough. Needs to be leagues above a golf to justify that price. The previous generation X5 interior lovely. Luxurious and all the buttons easy to use. Why put everything on the screen. That's a step backwards for BMW which aced usability for so long.
Audi would be my choice of car. Practical, comfortable and well built. Second, be the VW. Then the Porsche. I don't see myself having the Merc nor the BMW.

I got a porsche because it’s the most nicest (calm) drive. I did a test drive on mercedes, lexus and porsche. Nothing came even close to how well it handled bumps on the road. Don’t need space, so I even got a coupe. It goes fast when it needs to, overtaking on motorway never felt safer. But it’s objectively the most luxurious of the set, despite the common notion that it’s sporty. If I had more money to spend, I would look at Bentley, and if I had less I would 100% go for RX. Oh…the $25k hybrid tax….

Probably 5 VW Touareg s considering how similar the merc and bmw are with the 3 vws
Maybe I gotta try an X7 M60i
Finally i got all cars that im intrested in one video. Thank you Matt
BMW's 40d is the best I6 diesel at the market no doubt, 450d is really nice, but BMWs is just ever so slightly better

Why does the Touraeg cost more than the Q7? They are on the same platform and Audi is a premium brand and VW is mainstream
When you copy and paste so many times, sometimes you make a mistake. Since all 3 are basically the same car (Porsche, Audi, VW), I guess VW put the wrong price on the wrong copy :)

Matts spot on about Merc interior and cheap leather! Owned one and done my head in
I owned a Q8 and did a similar evaluation in Q1.

This is ridiculous. Unless you earn over £100,000 you have no business buying any of these cars.
People who buy these on their £40,000 wage will always be poor.
Seeing the 50% deprecation after 3 years is amazing.
You've said it. 30k for one at 3 years old will be a much better buy.

Why didn't you test these expensive shopping trolleys for how much shopping you can fit in after you drop the kids off at school? That is their intended purpose afterall.
And once a long time ago, they used to take these things off road. Would have been interesting if they found out if they still maintained those abilities...
Why never use an x5 e45 or e50 hybrid instead of the 30d??
That's a step backwards for BMW which aced usability for so long.
it's not entire world by the way, it's mostly the UK and europe.
Audi would be my choice of car. Practical, comfortable and well built.
Second, be the VW. Then the Porsche.

@@velidhadzic3011 nope, not really , anywhere in North America it will be down to about 70 percent of its price . You can check out the current deals on autotrader, craigslist etc for Western Canada or West Coast USA. Maybe it costs more in Europe.
Every time I read like this comment I go searching to get a gle sold at 50% after 3 years but I can't find. Maybe at 15% or 20%. But to get 50% the car had to have at least 10 years
Now I can finally conclude: Mat Watson and Carwow have completely lost their minds. The BMW won, even though it has gotten significantly uglier with the facelift (which is remarkable, because it was already pretty hideous to begin with) plus they ditched the easy-to-use IDrive Infotainment for an insanely complicated one. Everything that comes out of Bavaria nowadays is disappointing beyond capacity. Good thing Carwow boosts their ego with tests like this👍
(And to get rid of any doubts: I don't think the Audi should win the test either)

@@paultasker7788 fr
@@paultasker7788 Honestly, pretty sure at this point expensive VWs are taken often based on the fact that they are rarer than AUDIs. These are mostly intended for company lease. Audi - it's the best, and the most affordable to boot

The air systems that allow these SUVs to lower for "easy loading" have never been a sell point for me. If it's not lowering the vehicle by half a foot (or proper measurements like you all do throughout the rest of the world) I don't see the point.

Don’t need space, so I even got a coupe. It goes fast when it needs to, overtaking on motorway never felt safer.
