I had the Eklipse 3.0, and it was a bit too small for my use but the liner lock was GREAT! I would also love love love to see a countersunk liner lock on the xm 18 as well.
My first Hinderer was back when they were extremely limited (circa 2009?) and I paid over $700 for an XM-18. Back then everyone complained about the detent and the Teflon washers. Coming back to one all these years later and I’m reminded of Porsche, the design is the same but the function has been greatly improved. Detent is strong but perfectly tuned, pivot that allows whichever friction surface you prefer, non flipper versions, no choil versions, many additional blade shapes, etc.. it’ll be great to see where Hinderer is after another 10 years of development
I'd be interested in a video on serrations. Good/bad? Different types/different geometries. Serrated only on 1 side of the blade edge or both? Uses, wear and tear, sharpening.
Well, USA Made Blade, just dropped a spanto harpoon on tri-way, I instantly ordered, I'm gonna dig it, they look so cool... Probably sell out real quick, seems they drop in very small batches, I'm guessing other dealers will get small batches as well...
I am new to Hinderer. I have just one, a DLT no choil XM-18 in M390. And my only complaint is how painful the flipper tap is. I have tried using the external stops as thumb studs, but it doesn't deploy reliably. Is the detent really refined enough to deploy well?
The XM - 18 3.5" is near perfection but the ZT 0562ti 3.5" is perfection. They are both great knives but for the money I choose the ZT that's actually available for purchase.
I don't think we'll see any functional changes to the XM-18 any time soon. For its intended purpose it is complete. I do think there may be some grind variations. For me, both the XM-18 and Eklipse feel perfect in hand. I'm a steel worker and a mechanic so the jimping doesn't bother my hands. (I get so tired of people complaining about knives designed for a purpose other than cutting cardboard, strings and tape.)

I like to use the fuller on mine to slow roll like a Medford. Feels really good on washers
