I agree…. Although I don’t have any interest in the 24, my 18 was completely transformed with a textured ti scale installed! I prefer it over my Morpheus, my Arius, my half dozen CRKs. When i got the Demko AD20 in textured ti, I finally found something I prefer over my 18! For me, that says a lot!
My 2 dream knives would be the Xm-18 3.0 harpoon spanto or Bowie with fuller all titanium. And Ad20 just like yours in all titanium. I have the Demko just need the scales.
You made the right choice. I love the trinity and the AD20 but the latter came through with so much innovation and testosterone. Best hard folder. AD20 > XM 24 > Strider SMF > Sebenza 31
Great vid with awesome knives on the table, fyi demko is coming out with a grivory AD20 knife for 350 I have heard through the grapevine. Should make alot of people happy If you can get one. And I agree with your decision, but if it was just aesthetics god I love that harpoon 24.
I have my slicer on the pb washers and then my Bowie on the Teflon washers. I love them both. The Bowie closes easier and takes a lot less force to slap shut it than the slicer on pb washers. I get benefits from washers because of the amount of saw dust I see daily as a cabinet maker and I literally cut on the table saw all day long mon through Friday.
That's a great looking lineup. AD20 is just a sold all around blade, I really like the ergos on the handle. Very comfortable in both hands blade up or down. The XM-24 I'm loving a lot, lots of handle to grab and amazingly smooth for such a heavy bruiser. Now where's that custom?! 😁 👍
I wonder how many people run their Hinderers on washers. I tried switching to washers for “reliability” sake but immediately had trouble getting it dialed in. Went back to bearings.
I like the XM-18 and I think G-10 on all of them would be a nice feel and fit. The lock is strange on the AD-20 to me but looks really comfortable. I would pick a Mick Strider or a Microtech over a Hinderer lol they just seem heavy, it’s definitely a lifelong Knife though. Cool Video
Fidget factor has taken a weird turn for me. I have found myself enjoying fidgeting knives that take more steps to close rather than less. The Banter might be my favorite to fidget at the moment.
Have they ever made an XM-18 skinny with no flipper tab and no choil? Any blade shape really though slicer or spanto would be preferred. Otherwise, it might be a no choil skinny and a grinder. 😁
The thing I have noticed, and I may be wrong about this. It seems like people buy knives and immediately flip them over in the secondary market. Maybe it’s their buy a bunch of knives and they just sell out quickly and turn them around on eBay four more money.. I’ve had to dig really deep to find a Chris Reeves knife from a retail store. I can find them on eBay left and right for $100 above retail sometimes even more. Same way with a lot of other high-end knives.. Like trying to find a Protech Malibu right now that is a one to $300 more than the retail is impossible.

@@metal_complex I just watched a disassembly and and found the frame itself is the scales, so you would have to buy a second knife in order to customize it. I wonder if all the parts including the blades are interchangeable or if the tolerances are adjusted for each individual knife.

It'll break in but honestly you're more likely to just adapt to it. Using the thumbstuds to deploy it will always be next to impossible. The flipper tab will bother you less over time.
@@metal_complex no one has head to head durability videos. You could be the first one to do so if you wanted. You hit a lot of areas of importance but some of it is your opinion after all. We can’t see how it translates to real world carrying without some demonstration. Don’t be afraid to use those bad boys. You don’t need to destroy them either. Maybe some cutting maybe some stabbing I don’t know? Would have been really great to see. Cheers.

Oh ya thats been happening forever. It'll always be that way. Periodically knives come back in stock. It's just a cycle 👍

It needs to be purchased that way. There are no parts available for a scale swap currently.
