  • From the loudness to hairiness to the laziness... Greeks react to some of the most common stereotypes. (Oh and second-generation Greeks as well)

    I do say “opa” a lot but not in the way most foreigners would think. I usually use it as “oops” when I trip or drop something. I’ve never in my life said “opa” in the sense of “let’s drink and have fun”, ever.

    Literally Greece has the most working hours in whole Europe but the people get a few money and everyone says "Greeks are lazy".
    Germany is the absolute opposite.It has the least working hours in whole Europe but the people get a lot of money and everyone says "Germans are overworking"
    That's really unfair if you think about it.

      Whatever they say, the whole of Europe and frankly the world owes so much to the Greeks. Without the Greeks we wouldn’t have had the Islamic golden age, and in turn the Renaissance and reformation in europe wouldn’t have happened and Europe would still be in a dark age. Also Rome based most of their culture, literature, highlife, building, academics, etc. on Greece. The Greeks were many a time great, but now they’re just resting.

    I think that all these questions can be applied to any southern European country (replace "OPA!" for "Mamma mia", "Joder" or "Caralho" and is the same question). We're all very close to our families, the moms and the grandmas are gods, it's normal to live with our parents until we get married, we're hairy (but we also take a lot of care for removing it), beautiful women and the Mediterranean cuisine is great. I loved this video and I love Greece, I think it's a paradise on earth. Hope I'll be able to go there soon and stay as much time as possible. Hugs and love from Italy ❤

    As a Greek, i have to say that i agree with almost everything except the fact that we like to live with our parents until our 30s. It's not true.
    Only a few people that i know still stay with their parents and its due to economical problems. I'm 21 and i left my house with the help of my parents when i was 17 and of course i'm not planning to get back or anything. And almost all of my friends they're planning the same thing.
    And guys, we are not lazy. We work for at least 10 hours per day for 2-3 euros per hour. And some people they don't get payed for every extra hour that they work. And they don't complain cause they don't want to lose their job. And some of them do 2 jobs. It's bad. So don't say things like that.
    I think that the new generations of Greeks in Greece are way more progressive and live by European standards and are much more open-minded.

They just start to work and hope to come to a good end - maybe. This is not true in the hospitality business, but show me some industries in Greece which are working efficiently and deliver a good quality in the same time. Casie Jms. Actually I know too many! They are not only stunning, they can be very strong, but also very gentle, warm, soothing and kind. They are great.
      The beauty in Greece's culture is that women and men from regions all over Greece from Crete in the South to Macedonia and Thrace in the North, from the Dodecanese in the East to the Ionian islands in the west, the have all the variations there are from black hairs all the way to light blonde, to black eyes, hazel, green, blue, light and other color eyes.
      Very diverse and absolutely gorgeous. I have traveled to many countries and most continents, and I have concluded that.
      You want me to be fully open chart? Yes there are also a part of girls and guys that are overweight, but underneith I have always seen alot of baeuty as I can see that in people's faces. I know one personally. A girl called Artemisia a beautiful name. She was a bit overweight. years later I met her again. She was smoking hot. I have always said years before she was very beautiful. And bam. She came with sheer elegance, and great beauty. So when I say that I love Greece and that Greek women are gorgeous, I mean that based on 30+ times having traveled there, having met countless of people, been in all the cities, in many hangout spots where Greeks party, and so on and so on. Greeks are one of the most beautiful people there are in the world. And that is not only my honest opinion, many articles, charts, and so on say the same and ofcourse the definition and essence of what we hold beautiful today all started in Ancient Greece with Aphrodite that influenced history over the world.

    • @Ptolemy336VV
      @Ptolemy336VV 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I already knew that. Same goes for me. I traveled all around Greece. I have been there many times 3-16 weeks, which I can perfectly conclude based on observation how things are. I don't need you for that. Also I don't know who you are or where you came from. But if its an Asian country like China, South Korea, India and so on then I can also say that the average beauty there is way lower than that in Greece, based on again many travels and observation. With lower I mean. way wayyyy lower. But then I do feel more sympathy and understanding for your opinion if you where Asian.
      Many people there have besides from 99% black hairs/black eyes, depending on the region facial morphological features that are for me not something I find exciting. And some regions have on average facial features that I find more exciting as in beautiful. Also the bodies miss many great beautiful curve features while Greek women have in a perfect form. Great ,genuine, not too big in great harmony and balance. I don't like massive curves at all. But I don't like flatness either that you see alot in regions in eastern Asia. Or the somehow strange regions in eastern Asia where women despite being small had massive legs and calves that are way out of proportion. So there are many factors of beauty comes in to play. Then if I would talk about warmth, and inner self of Greek women I could make the most beautiful ode to them. But my point is clear.

    • @cassiejms5431
      @cassiejms5431 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Ptolemy336VV Lol I'm not Asian, I'm Greek. Also I see you mean that the Greek women have the 'perfect body'. This is very wrong. As you may know Greece is one of the countries with high percentage of obesity and it can really be seen even while walking down the street or when observing the nutritional habits. Also I agree that Greeks don't have ungly faces but you can't call them extremely beautiful, perfect, and all those things. And only because of the fact that I am Greek I am not going to say that we have the most beautiful faces.

      Everybody confuses the lebaneses with the arabs, but we have a bit of lebanese, because you know, phoenicians were our best buddies all those years ago. Still, genetic studies showed that the famous greek gene is stil quite prominent.

    My Mom is a sweet and quiet person but when one of her sisters calls its like 500 db scream talking. Well I exaggerate but I really felt it from the beginning when the lady on the right said her Mom was loud.
    I also remember my Yiayia drinking beers btb easily even at the age of 90.
    Also wow, even the very very slight accent from Alexandra reminds me of how some of my family sounds. It might just be a placebo but I find it very heart warming, in a nuanced way.
    I love it, subscribed.
    Edit: Im canadian/greek as well. My parents and extended family are native to Greece. Northern and southern.

      Actually, Greece got it all from Egypt! LOL. Egypt and Greece share a long history of interaction but Ancient Egypt was there far before Greece reached its height of power. They took all knowledge mostly from Ancient Egyptian (Coptic, now) which in turn borrowed from Greek.
