What is a better app to use ir blast ,instead of the stock PEEL remote control App, i have to constantly reset the remote when peel updates, smdh??????? Just recently uninstalled and back to the physical remote controls!
I haven't tested many recently .. I will suggest you just search in playstore.. try a few and see which one works best for you .. or maybe someone else can suggest one
For me note 4 fullfilled the 5 pillar that mkbhd channel said,i love this phone,i really love the display and camera, hopefully my note 4 will be normal again, are u running marshmallow on your note 4.? Is it more better than lollipop.?
I agree it was/is a good phone, but better than the note 8. ? Idk bro. Maybe if it came with wireless charging & water proof, but the ir blaster & that s pen def made it a beast of its time. Def better than any iphone.
The note4 has lots of known hardware issues. Between emmc failures and another problem that causes the phone not to correctly identify the amount of power in the battery.. you get dramatic drops in power and even the inability to charge (NEW) batteries to capacity. it should also be said that new official note4 replacement batteries do not all come with nfc antennas on them as well.. Its a great phone if you can get them really cheap, but expect them to have issues in a few years. (I've got a shoebox full of note4's that have all had these issues)
MayitoTek Yes, it's true that Note 4 is now more vulnerable because Samsung is not supporting it with any security patch but there is a solution for it. Buy a good antivirus app (some free could do the job too) from Norton, McAfee or many others and you are pretty much covered .
in your opinion, what do you feel Samsung stop doing after the Note 4? For me the biggest change was the removable battery, which is probably a way to bring in water resistant feature. I really hope in the near future we are able to easily swap the batteries, I usually hanged on to phone for a long time and changed to a new battery every year.
MayitoTek First they removed the removable battery and the IR blaster and MicroSD. They brought back the microSD, but then the dual core only phones burst into flames. The Note 8 is exclusively a long aspect phone with dumb curved glass. I understand the change to a sealed battery, but it should have been done in a way to make the Note 5 waterproof, which it wasn't. The Note 5 could have been great, but it wasn't and I was so annoyed by the removal of features, I kept my Note 4. I don't like the direction they've taken since then, and a newer Note will not be my next phone.
Yep! Curved screen!? Awful. No good screen protector works on my N8...easily scratched. The body is glass... I’d take the N4 plastic and removable battery any day. Still love my Note 4. Samsung also simplified the note app too much. They went in the wrong direction...
The removable battery is the main point. It is a civilisation level scandal You ll maybe think im joking, but i believe people who have decided to make all flagship samsung phones with non removable battery, must be condemned to death penalty. I am not joking at all.
if you love the Note because of the stylus pen or the Samsung's user interface it will be hard to find another phone. Hopefully the latest Samsung phones will have a better battery
@ After 3 years of intense use, my current note 4 is almost failing (constant bugs when restarting etc, constant intempestive restarts). I have searched all alternatives and there is NO other phone of the same size with oled screen and removable battery still available. The J7 and the J4 and J5 are the only alternative but they are all smaller. The s5 is smaller too. I think i will purchase again one or even two note 4s, but in my counrey in France, the note 4 available on amazon begin to very suspicious. people complain that the phones they receive are used... when it said they were not used etc.. Dumb question but, does anybody know know if the note 4 is even still produced?
@@dempart5558 Could it be that you just need a couple of new batteries? Unfortunately, most of the ones that aren't actual Samsung brand batteries on Amazon are inferior quality and may not work well for long, if at all. And they stopped making new batteries a long time ago, so even the actual Samsung ones you might find NIB are old and won't hold a charge well either, even though they're new. I did an extensive search and the only ones I found that might be worth buying at all are offered by BatteriesPlus. I am not affiliated with them in any way (no investment and not my employer, etc.). Their batteries aren't inexpensive ($40 each), but they have a good exchange policy if you have any issues. That's where I'll be buying my next batteries from. Check their website to see if you have a store nearby that has them in stock (search for CEL11544). My local store does.
@@pictishwolf7 Hi pictish. My note 4 finally totally bricked end of last may. I had a spare samsung J7 2016 that i bought a few years back and that i didnt use. I incredibly satisfied with the J7. Its still one of the few, if not the only modern smartphone with Oled, and a replacable battery and 5.5inch+ screen. There is literally no other phone with these specification combination. except the 2018 J7 duo (the j7 2017 does not have removable battery...!) as for my note 4, i keep it carefully and one day ill ty the freezing method, to power it up a last time and try to salvage the data in it. If that does not work, ill try the technique that is available on youtube, that consists of applying some filling material between the case and the defective part (which overheats because of the android update). cheers. edit: even if the j7 is way less feature rich, im blown away by the battery life. I genuinely do not even desire any flagship with non removable battery. Im so happy with my humble J7 , its incredible. 👍 as for the note 4, its a real shame that it has this defect. I just wish samsung was at least admitting the issue. but anyway...
This phone still rocking even in 2018, 2k screen, 4k recording, 16mpx cam, 4g, 3gb ram, s note, Samsung health pulse sensor and ultraviolet sensor, finger scanner, love this phone!!!
I've had my note4 for over 3 years now and it's a brilliant phone. I had to replace the battery a few months ago, but apart from that no problems! Awesome phone!!
Awesome!! Do you mind sharing which battery you got? I had alot of people ask what is the best battery to get in 2018, many people have recommended the Anker..
It's guys like you that make me decide not to do reviews. I don't see myself as being to look or speak as well as you. Thanks for the well-thought-out, well-ordered, to-the-point, no-fluff review. That was a everything I needed to know, and bought one of these just now.
Hi Jack !! Thanks for the compliment !! I still have long ways to go as I few i am below average, but I just keep pushing to get better on every video . If you want to do reviews, you should give it a try, you just need a phone which you already have. I actually started the channel using the Note 4 to shoot the videos. keep me posted on how the Note 4 works out for you . I get a lot of feedback from people who feel the Note 4 is still performing good for them .
MayitoTek yes, i'm planning to get myself LG G6. but i'm gonna missed samsung note features (s pen, scrapbook, s note, because i used it a lot). what do you think bout G6?
MayitoTek I don't find too many new features in note8. It looks better and that's it. Also 12mp camera is not enough for me. Non removable battery is not ok also. What else.. more internal storage not emmc type. Still not going to change for note8, maybe will think about Note9 if it has changeable aperture as on S9+ series. Low light camera performance is a nice feature, but actually I prefer daylight
Still using it, and still my favorite phone! Has every feature I want, and even some more features that Note 8 doesn't have, like IR. Love the S Pen. Unfortunately, the battery drain is real though.
have you tried with a new battery? I basically had to get a new battery every year for this phone.. I am on my third one. After using the battery for a while it will not hold the charge.
You must give it a new software if still same problem then repair the charge port if still lose then change motherboard for N910C is the best it have 8 core exynose CPU better.than N910F which have 4 core snapdrsgon 805 CPU
I changed my battery for new original one a year ago and it still runs very good. Main thing - don't let it often drain to minimal 0-25% and keep it charged wherever possible and it will work long time
It's better than have to use non swapable battery phone. (like Note 8) And you have to wait another hour to use it. Using note 4 is really convenience, if you got low battery notification, just swap it in seconds. and 100% battery for sure. You have spen to draw something, every good features are in note 4. I use it until now, and didn't plan to change anytime soon because it's still run every single software that I want in playstore.
Still use the note 4, had the chance to get a new phone with mij contract, but chose keep mij note 4 and just bought a new battery for 15 euros, love it.
I don't have a Note 4 but I have a Note 3 since 2015. And I am still using it until now. It still works really fine. I love it so much best phone I had so far. I love the Note series.
I'm still using my 4 year old Note 3. I've dropped it a bunch of times and finally a couple weeks ago the screen cracked for the first time ever. So I think I'm going to look for a refurbished Note 4 to buy or a new one if I can find it. I've done a bunch of research on the Note series and I too think the Note 4 was the pinnacle of Note success. As an added bonus, they don't cost $1,000, which is just too much for a cell phone in my humble opinion, at least for me. Thanks for the video.
I still got the note 4 also because i can change the battery when its low for active days and it is still very fast to this day i'm still happy with it and won't change till it's broken i got it a long time now. Thanks for the video😎
I just ordered this bad boy with multiple extra batteries and an external battery charger. No need to hug the wall or connect wires to charge my phone ever again. FREEDOM :D Great video :)
I still use note 4 and no plan upgrade at all as this phone is so cool and I don't have single problem with this phone and I use this for run my TH-cam channel as well including record some of my video and this phone doing amazing job I think I will use this phone another 2 - 3 year
Use it another 2-3 years * cough cough * if the dying emmc problem is not happening in which case -you don't use your phone often -you're just lucky as hell
Loved my Note 4 until it bricked out of nowhere last week. Tried everything. Different batteries, different chargers. Nothing. Wouldn't even boot into any recovery mode. Just 100% dead. I was so bummed. I wound up getting the new S9+ which is amazing of course...but I'd still happily be using my Note 4 right now if it didn't die out of nowhere :( I adored my Note 3 too! I'd still be using THAT if it didn't get thrown into the pool last year!
oh man!!! that problem seems to be popular with the Note 4, I actually had similar issue you described above with my first Note 4. Even after that I went back to the Note 4 and find it hard letting go even after getting the Note 8. Just remember that the Note 9 is around the corner and those prices of the Note 8 may come down in price. I used the S8+ for several monthsand is very similar to the Note series, so even if you go for that one I think you will love it , just minus the Spen
Geek Therapy Radio ...totally dead black screen...lol..put it in a zip lock freezer bag fr 20 mins..i did mine fr 30mins..took it out.popped in the sim..sd card.battery and cover on fired up superfast..then i added wakelock..works a1...
I currently am still using this phone. I love the interchangeable parts (battery, sim card,etc...) the ir blaster I still use. I love going to my brother's home and changing his TV with my phone. He always gets a kick out of it. I am an avid note pen user so I won't give up on the note series anytime soon. However I will upgrade to the note 8 this year finally after all the disappointing note phones after the note 4. Just hate that I can't change the battery. However I will keep my note 4 as back up. Thanks for showing this video. I was beginning to feel outdated in my phone choice and logic behind keeping my note 4.
I am also amaze how many more people still love their Note 4s.. I also felt it was just me hanging out to it. I got the Note 8 a couple of weeks ago and I think you will love it.. The battery will be a disappointment, I had the S8plus for < year and the battery was starting to perform poorly.. I feel the Note 8 will have the same issue and it will cost alot more money to replace the battery compare to the Note4
I love my Note 4, I actually bought it for the camera because I was going oversea at the time and didn't want to bring a bulky camera. I also bought a spare battery and micro sd cards and loves the ease of travelling light. It's true, night shots are not the best but still not too bad if there's lighting around. 😊
I still use it sometimes to record some of the clips for my channel. I have compared some pics from the Note 8 and the Note 4 and there are times when I cant see much of a diff. With the right lighting the Note 4 takes awesome shots! Thanks for sharing!!
We have three! Running LineageOS15 (Android 8.1) on all of 'em. Great phones! When Samsung made the battery in the Note 5 non-user-replaceable, I stopped 'upgrading'.
very nice!! I wish I could root my model , but sadly is locked from the carrier. i actually Started using the Note 4 this week to make a video update for 2019 .. I am very impressed on how well is still holding up , I was expecting it to slow down since I last used it as a daily phone
I'm not the most phone enthusiast ,but note 4 was one of the best purchases I have ever done. I bought it in November 2014 and l used it until earlier this month when l bought note 8 (had note 7 as well but we all know how that ended up). It is very durable but the battery has to be replaced every 2 years on average.
Thanks for the video, good job. Just an FYI: Galaxy Note 4 was released on 17, October 2014 (not "a couple of years ago"). Also using Samsung's Knox you can actually disable a lot more than that, and can even shut down background processes you don't need. Knox also allows for a killer ad blocker (this works on just about ANY Samsung phone with Knox).
You are right!! The devil is on the details and the wording. I use secure folder on the Note 8, haven't messed with it on the Note 4. Someone mentioned the Knox went away after marshmallow on the Note 4, but never went back to verified. That is a great feature to have, is like having a phone within a phone. Thanks for the feedback and additional info!!
I've had my Note 4 for about 4 yrs now and still love it. I was confused by your comment regarding updates, though. I still get software and security updates all the time. It's never been an issue. Am I missing something?
Hi Don, the last security update that I got from Samsung is from August ( I actually took my phone to a Samsung's Experience store and they installed the latest updates about a month ago) . The concern is that Samsung may not continue to push updates in the future, as I read in several online sites, blogs, and articles. Do you have a security update that came for the Note 4 after August?
MayitoTek Thank you for the explanation. You're right. The laser security and software updates were Aug 2017. Do you think this is a push by Samsung to phase out the Note 4 and get people to buy new devices?
I work in an IT company and simple software updates can cost a lot of money .. I feel that Samsung determines when is time to cut the cord on updates for a phone based on return of investment . There is always that possibility that the companies want to lean towards making the consumers go out and buy the latest phone..
I been having problem with my note 4 ever since I updated it.its cutting of and then I have to take the battery out and put it back in. Sometimes it takes 2 days b4 it comes back on...is this a software problem
that def doesn't sound right . I would suggest you try to determine if if is a software , battery , or hardware problem. Sometimes after a major update some people have recommended doing a full data reset, also try testing it out with a diff battery just to get that factor out of the way . If that does not solve the problem, you may have some issue with the hardware itself.
Same issue. I downloaded the wake lock app and it helps a bit, but it will still turn off at around 30-40% charge. I have to then take the battery out for about 15 min, charge it back up, then turn it back on. Still trying to find a total solution.
many people have suggested using WakeLock for similar issue. Lisa- this doesnt happen when battery is at higher %? Some people have suggested calibrating the battery or testing the phone with a diff battery.
very nice, I didnt know the V20 had it .. I guess the IR blaster is not advertised as much.. I started using it before when it was my daily phone, but never really looked into why this phone could do that .
V10 have an IR blaster as well but I think most companies are moving completely away from it..LG have stopped using the IR blaster on their newest phone..the only company I think that have it currently is a couple of those Huawei phones
I had an older phone with different ir system that would learn commands. literally press up on phone then up on new and it would copy the command. It was greater than ir blasting
Ho Honey!! Well that is a great question .. My Note 4 is the At&T version , I currently have T-mobile in the US so it would not allow me to get the latest update, I found out that I could go to Best But store that had a Samsung Experience store and get it from there . I walked into the store and they did it for me and it was free. Not sure where you are located and if there is a Samsung store in your area..
Still use my Note 4 for filming our TH-cam channel. I hook it right up to my Gimbal extra batters and I can last 24 hours;) I use my LGV30 just for cinimatic shots. I'll never give up my Note 4. I got the LGV30 for the filming capabilities but i was dissapointed when they decided not to make the battery replaceable.
very nice!! I still use mine to get some shots here and there, was the phone I used to start my TH-cam channel! Replaceable battery is a deal breaker for older phones, so expensive to replace a non-removable battery
MayitoTek also thank you for the info you shared. It's nice to see others really see the value of the Note 4. Yes a lot of mobile phone providers want people to turn in the Note 4 with big trade in values. I believe it's because of the replaceable batters. I don't think theres another phone currently on the market with replacable batteries? Keep up the awesome vids. We subscribed.
I really liked the video. I just hate that Samsung stopped the Security Updates because the phone is still relevant and one of the best they have made.
I think the Note 4 is one of the few phones that many people are still using after so many years. Usually companies will stop investing money updating software on the old devices
unless you are having some hardware issues.. Try formatting and reinstalling the OS, disable and uninstall all the apps that you don't use. That made a huge difference for me .
If you own a Note 4 consider watching a video I did for you guys on how I was able to make the Note 4 a little faster . Thanks!! 👍 Link : th-cam.com/video/-gyZHeStBLI/w-d-xo.html Also , don't forget to let us know what do you like best about the Note 4!!
I still have my note 4 for 3 years now. It still holds up very well. Only issue I have now is the battery percentage being off so I keep it in a 10,000 mah battery case.
I have replace the battery once a year . Usually after a year battery starts performing poorly. I actually just got another battery from Anker last week. Thanks for sharing !
Thank you for confirming why I love my Note 4. No plans to change either. Was using remote and perhaps I'll add it again. LOVE MY 4! I use heavily for group text for church team of 21. A mini pc in my palm, cut/paste music vids, pixs etc.
Try doing a master reset.. sounds like you may have a hardware issue or motherboard issue. Only thing I can imagine doing is trying with a diff battery and doing the master reset
sounds like the hardware issue many users have reported. I had that happened to me a few years ago on my first Note 4. Some people have suggested using an app called wakelock that keeps the phone from restarting
Hi Wildried, I actually just got the Note 8 last week. Still using the Note 4 as a backup . I agree, if you are not using a case.. your finger will be blocking the edges. Since the back glass panel is so fragile, I never have it with out the case, so that helps getting a better grip and keeps my fingers from blocking the edges. Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for a nice video. The Huawei P20 pro has an IR blaster. Also a request i I may? How about an update to Oreo where you try what works and what dosent? Thank you
you are right, many people were happy they put the IR blaster on the P20 Pro, I wont understand why they didnt add it to the other version aswell. I already tried rooting this note 4 but was not able because is ATT carrier lock. I would need to get my hands on another version of the note 4 to to a custom ROM. Will keep it in mind!
I was also not able to get the latest update. My phone has the AT&T software. I was able to find a Samsung Experience Store in the US.. took it there and they did it for me free of charge.. Not sure where you are located,, but they are in some of the Best Buy Stores
I had to get my degitizer replaced recently. A bit pricey but totally worth it for essentially, in my opinion, the best Note Samsung has ever produced.
Ive had a note 4 moving to the note 5 was hard. Got a note 7 was so happy they took it from me now im using a note 8. My mum now has my note 4 and i recently added a custom note 8 rom on it runs amazing
Thats awesome!!! Same here, I had the Note 7 and really hope I could get it back . I was able to keep the box and the Spen for the Note 7. I tested the Note 5 last week and it was a little diff, I mainly didnt like the battery performance, but overall was a stylish phone even in 2018.
I love my Note 4, however one issue I have is the voice to text now only takes 4 or 5 words and stops. My son had the same issue on his and went to a newer model. Does anyone have any suggestions to improve the talk to text?
good to know!! Thanks for sharing !! Seems this is a feature that many other companies are still using , is just not always advertised, but I see how much people love it .
I just git mine from Amazon , it as an Anker battery.. Many people have also recommended ZeroLemon batteries.. There is a comment on this video where people are discussing and recommending diff apps for the IR blaster. Peel Smart Remote app seems to be the most common one used
Yeah, I guess it may slow down the overall performance since the hardware is not up to today's UI standa rds.. I just hope they keep supporting at least the security updates.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 has an IR blaster also. My wife has the Note 4 and I have S5. Paragraph We will not upgrade because we refuse to give up our removable battery handsets for privacy reasons
you are right ! Yeah, many people still need to have the removable battery, now that I started using the S8+ and the Note 8 I see know this will impact the phones over time. I tried to replace the Battery on a Note 5 last wee and I broke the back glass
Hi, love your tutorials on the note 4. Would you no how to get rid of the brown tinge that takes up 2 thirds of my screen ? So happens my phone colour is brown also. The other 3rd of the screen is white, its so annoying you can see the subtle line when watching a video or even just scrolling etc.. Cheers
not sure what do you mean by the brown thing , but I am thinking you have an image burned in your screen? Made a video talking about getting an image burned, hope that helps you determine if that is what your phone has Link: th-cam.com/video/IVoL8TdC4ao/w-d-xo.html&lc=UgzRjJqETgZkO2pP8D14AaABAg
Tom Douglas I have a s6 edge that I use going to the gym that's become a little laggy, will this Wakelock app help stabilize it? just asking. I don't like taking my Note 8 or OnePlus to the gym because I'm always sitting it down. It still works, but I can tell sometimes see hesitation on some apps. If no answers thanks anyway
MayitoTek ...certainly, but im sure there are individuals whom maybe unfamiliar. The Note Edge was obviously an "Edge edition" of the "Note 4" for which the release-date was the same. I simply stated Note 4 "Edge" as reference to this video... Too complex for you? maybe? 😉
not at all brother!! I didn't ask with the intention to correct you , I was actually wondering .. When it comes to phones, there are different versions world wide, that for a second I believed there was actually a Note 4 edge. You will be amaze with everything I learn with the feedback I get from people around the world. Thanks for sharing !!😀👌
MayitoTek You have my absolute apologies for misinterpreting your sincerity. But yes, the original (experimental) "Note Edge" was released with the Note 4 and cost almost $1000 way back then, nowadays a thousand-dollar phone is commonplace lol smh. Good video!
no need to apologies, is all good ! Is part of engaging in conversation! I agree, this prices on the new phones are crazy.. I remember back in the day when I would not want to spend $300 on a new phone.. I know they have come long ways on technology, but my biggest concern is that there are not that much improvements on the past two years to really justify the crazy prices.. Thanks!!
I can't update the android version of my note 4 lte Current version is 5.0.1 Whenever i download the update and click install, the phone rebooted but after few secs,it says error occurred I have tried this many many times but no solution yet...:(
I would suggest you do a full restore first and try to download to the update after.. There may be some app/ setting causing the update from getting installed..
I use 2 phones, the Note 8 and the Note 4 & the Note 4 is still a great phone. I'm on my third batery & it still works perfectly. By the way I still use my Note 3 as a tablet! Its still working perfectly with the original battery! One of the best features of these phones is that you can connect all three phones to your tv using an mhl adapter & hdmi lead for a proper wired connection.
ha! I also use the Note 8 and Note 4 as my backup .. Except , I also got the Note 5 last week !! 😂.. Looking forward to testing it out since I have never used it . Hope to get the Note 3 soon as well!!
oh man!! That happened to the first Note 4 I had... It started happening after I used the VR headset , I think something got damaged in the hardware because it got really hot and started restarting right after that . One day it just never came back on .
Was it basically a brick after that? Mine gets hot and shuts off, but will come back on after it cools down. I take the battery out and let it cool, then charge back up and it will turn on again.
I bought my note 4 on December, 2015. Still working perfectly, even though I use it way more than my laptop and have more than 40 third party apps!! Total beast!! Great video btw!!
that is good to know!! Hopefully you already got a new battery. I just got a new battery from Anker and looking forward to test it out . Thanks for the feedback!!!
MayitoTek Yeah, actually I had to change the battery that came with my phone after the first seven months. Propably, I messed with the way I was charging it. I bought a new one though and till now I have zero problems.
Yeah man!! I have 4, just got a new one from Anker a few weeks ago.. I go through one every year. Keeping the rest as backup and charge them with portable charger
Dominic Krau .. Get an extended battery. I found a 10,000 mAh battery for about $30 bucks.. It lasts me all day. Small downside is the additional thickness and weight.. But for me.. Best trade off for my phone not dying before i get off work.
Unfortunately my Note 4 has been acting up a TON on me the past month or so. It's constantly locking up on me, freezing up, randomly shutting down etc. I've changed the battery about a year ago, because the factory one eventually started to die on me. After I changed the battery the phone was working just fine, but that was sometime last year. I've done a factory restore on my current Note 4 twice in the past 2-3 weeks and it's still acting up. Once a phone starts crapping out so bad that even a factory restore can't fix it is the phone just completely done?
That usually means the phone has a hardware issue, if you already tested the phone with a diff battery, it is possible that is has the common issue with the motherboard. My first note 4 had this issue, it constantly restarted on its own.. one day it never came back on. Many people have recommended using an app called wakelock which keeps the phone from restarting
Could this have anything to do with the Note 4 Class Action law suit? People reported having issues with their phone after the 6.0.1 OS "Marshmallow" update.
so.. many people have mentioned that their phones started acting up after they upgraded to Marshamallow.. I have used Marshmallow for several months now and no issues on this latest phone. NOW. ( The first Note 4 that went bad) I used it for over a year and had no issues, I used to play clash of clans for hours in a day . One day I used a VR headset for the first time. I used it for about 30 mins, phone got very hot. I remember it just froze and restarted on its own. After that, it started restating through out the day . At the time I still had lollipop.. after several weeks, one day the phone never came back on . After that I have used three other Note 4's and was not able to replicate the defect.
I'm still using mine today, I still love it see no reason to get rid of it, the only problem I've ran into is with the new VR headsets I can't seem to get non blurry video with my Note 4
so.. I have owned several Note 4's.. my firs Note 4 got messed up after using a VR headset for about 30 mins.. The phone got real hot and it restarted on its own...and it just went downhill from there.. the phone kept restarting several times through out the day , one day it just never came back on ...
I saw articles on Samsung being taken to court over knowing that the Note 4 mcm's would die prematurely. What do you know! Mine failed 2 months ago, and now it keeps freezing restarting lagging becoming utterly unresponsive at times and unreliable. What makes me more suspicious is that I'm now forced to use an old S 4 ... yes a 5 almost 6 year old phone lasts longer than this 4 y/o. Now if I want to fix it I'd have to buy a new motherboard and at the prices I've seen it doesn't seem worth it - is 55 USD (73 AUD) worrh it? And I'm worried it might give out too soon after.
I had that issue with my first note 4, I have used a couple of other Note 4s after that and issue was not replicated. But you are not alone, many people have mentioned the same..
I certainly think its a conspiracy to force customers to upgrade. The Note 4 is an AMAZING phone. Having had the motherboard changed on my phone once (luckily a couple of weeks before the warranty ran out) the same thing happened... funny enough the first motherboard died when the Note 7 was released... and this time as soon as the Note 9 was released it was only a matter of time... alas it died on Friday and today being Wednesday I am totally lost for direction... I LOVE my Note 4, but its not worth the hassle of repair... not sure I can get on board with the new curved screen, lack of IR blaster
I love mine and don't want to have to buy a new phone but while charging it got extremely hot and now it will not come on period. The battery kept draining for months I seemed to be charging more so than not then wham it wouldn't come on after being charged so I put it back on the charger thinking maybe it didn't charge that's when it got extremely hot but still has yet to come back on. Any tips with this anyone? I ordered a battery bt it wasn't a Samsung one and thought that was all it was maybe but didnt wanna spend much since I wasn't sure what was wrong exactly and it still wouldn't come on and I even tried charging it.
you may have a bad battery or a bad charging port . It is not normal for it to get super hot while charging . It is known to overheat causing the hardware to go bad, as result the phone will restart on its own and eventually it would not come on at all.
Samething happened to me. I have been chatting with technical support... I basically think the problem is the latest updates. Mine died on Friday and I really do not care much for the Note 9 as I do not like the curved screen. I believe its the motherboard. Mine has already been changed once by Samsung Repair and it just doesn't make sense to do it again as I feel like its just a disaster waiting to happen. I was flabbergasted when I saw the Note 9 take up 32GB of memory for the system alone!!!! Its a conspiracy guys
I have mixed feelings on that.. I have owned 3 different note 4s in the past 3 years and only one had that issue.. that happened to me after pushing the phone to the potential while using the VR headset.. but you make a point! 👍
I'm always writing much data on internal storage - downloading from youtube, tons of screenshots, etc but still works fine. I know that mmc driver technology has some features to eliminate bad blocks like ssd does.
How do you buy the led and replace the one in the phone. Mine broke. Cant see anything on the screen. I have the new note 8 but I love my 4 so I kept it.
I have the note edge....just puchased in feb 2018.....at times i get very poor reception due to using a sim card for.service....at sprint they told me the service gets bad because the chip sits directly over the antenna.....any tips for better service??
I can tell you , I used SPRINT for many years .. used to have that issue all the time.. After I dropped them and switched I have never had that issue as I used to . My brother just switched from SPRINT to another network after so many years of having issues with reception and dropped calls... I think their explanation is completely garbage, I never heard such thing ... .. Let me check with other people and get their feedback
Thank you!!! It wierd because my two.phones before this.....galaxy s4 and note 5.....didnt use the chip for service and i jad flawless service.....always a strong signal pretty much anywhere
MayitoTek figured that,lol
Guess im gonna have to search :(
Sorry 😔
I pin your Q.. hopefully we can get some feedback from other people
MayitoTek trillz!
Amazing how many people in the comments here love and are still using the Note 4
see, you didn't believe me :)
I'm still using a Note 3
Candid Tech TV yea
still have mine
I still love it. I am thinking of getting the S series.
I'm using the Note 4 in 2019 with zero issues.
Very nice!!
For me note 4 fullfilled the 5 pillar that mkbhd channel said,i love this phone,i really love the display and camera, hopefully my note 4 will be normal again, are u running marshmallow on your note 4.? Is it more better than lollipop.?
I'm still using galaxy note 4 [2019]
Yes i am considering buying one
Still in 2020
NOTE 4 IS THE BEST NOTE EVER!!!!!
it sure is man, def was the phone to start making a diff in the Note Series!
I like it better than my Note 8.
Jesus Bautista agreed!
I agree it was/is a good phone, but better than the note 8. ? Idk bro. Maybe if it came with wireless charging & water proof, but the ir blaster & that s pen def made it a beast of its time. Def better than any iphone.
I'd trade off water proof for expandable SD card and removable battery with the IR blaster any day :-)
Do you own a Note 4 in 2018 or you thinking about getting one? Let us know what do you like best about the Note 4!!
MayitoTek
The big screen and the removable baterry
Y have a zerolemon 11,700 mh
MayitoTek Battery replacement. My 1# reason. Everything works no reason to upgrade till 2019
Still a great phone !!!!
MayitoTek Yes, it's true that Note 4 is now more vulnerable because Samsung is not supporting it with any security patch but there is a solution for it. Buy a good antivirus app (some free could do the job too) from Norton, McAfee or many others and you are pretty much covered .
Still rockin my note 4
Great to hear!!! Thanks for watching!! 😎
watching this from a note 4
awesome man!!
Me too :)
and me too.
me too
Mee tooo
Still rocking the Note 4. Samsung lost its way after this phone.
in your opinion, what do you feel Samsung stop doing after the Note 4?
@S Great point to consider.
The removable battery is the main point.
It is a civilisation level scandal
You ll maybe think im joking, but i believe people who have decided to make all flagship samsung phones with non removable battery, must be condemned to death penalty.
I am not joking at all.
I was thinking of upgrading but I can't find a phone that is actually an upgrade on the note 4 that still features a removable battery
if you love the Note because of the stylus pen or the Samsung's user interface it will be hard to find another phone.
There is literally no other phone with these specification combination. except the 2018 J7 duo (the j7 2017 does not have removable battery...!)
as for my note 4, i keep it carefully and one day ill ty the freezing method, to power it up a last time and try to salvage the data in it.
as for the note 4, its a real shame that it has this defect. I just wish samsung was at least admitting the issue. but anyway...
That's the phone I'm currently still using!
I remember!! Thanks for supporting all the videos!!
MayitoTek thanks remembering. Your very welcome.
Ditto that! It's a great workhorse.
Me too its a brilliant phone
I'm using a note 4 (n910G) running android 7.1.1 Note 8 Custom Rom
This phone still rocking even in 2018, 2k screen, 4k recording, 16mpx cam, 4g, 3gb ram, s note, Samsung health pulse sensor and ultraviolet sensor, finger scanner, love this phone!!!
it sure is!!
1080/60 with stabilization is another feature they did I love. That camera and screen killed most of my dslr needs.
watching on a Note 4 😂 this thing has survived a freaking 25 meter drop on concrete 😂😂😂
auch!! That is good to know!!
Mines to
This phone is the new Nokia. I call mine "my tank".
Lol ive dropped mine so many times and there is bo problem only a tiny crack at the top which is barely noticeable
Yes please, what is the best replacement battery for Note 4 available out there? I got one replacement battery, but it is no good.
I'm the exact same! The official Samsung site had replacement battery for £20 and was like my phone was new again!
Steve Davies - plus you can replace the battery yourself unlike the newer phones. I'm not paying a huge fee to have a battery replaced.
I have note 4 I think the best phone everrrrr. :))
One of the best phones of all time for sure!!
Daniel I. The 1st phone with fingerscanner
Keith Matlock Maybe I don't know but I loved this Phone ! ;)
Keith Matlock nah it was the 5s then note 4
Was it not iPhone 5s then s5 then note 4 🤔🤔🤔🤔
I'm using note 4 for 3 years. still good. little bit slow but fine for me. Love it.
very nice!! Great to hear !! are you considering an upgrade?
MayitoTek yes, i'm planning to get myself LG G6. but i'm gonna missed samsung note features (s pen, scrapbook, s note, because i used it a lot). what do you think bout G6?
Yeah exact same for me! Except i regret buying it but it still works really well. I wanna get a new iPhone but they are really expensive...
@@laelisa_ de activate s voice on your note 4, and the speed will double. You will see, its incredible.
I went from Note 4 to Note 8 and can see very little benefit except the increased internal memory. I should have just reset the Note 4.
Hi Dennis, if you are not looking for all the new features from the Note 8, I agree with you . Note 4 still performs very well !
Does that mean you've got a spare Note 4 or Note 8?
Sooo...how much ya want for that Note 4???
Don't bother with the note 4 :( it'll glitch beyond repair soon...
I did try a few new batteries. It seems to get a little better if there's no SD card in it, but it still drains quite fast.
Still use the note 4, had the chance to get a new phone with mij contract, but chose keep mij note 4 and just bought a new battery for 15 euros, love it.
good to hear! I also just got an Anker battery a few months ago.
I don't have a Note 4 but I have a Note 3 since 2015. And I am still using it until now. It still works really fine. I love it so much best phone I had so far. I love the Note series.
Great to hear. . I really want to find a Note 3 to add on the collection
Thanks for the video😎
that why I am still hanging on to mine. Thanks for the feedback !!
I'm watching this video on my Note 4.
And yet the stock battery still works perfectly fine after a few years. I just love the Note 4 😍
that is great to hear !!
I just ordered this bad boy with multiple extra batteries and an external battery charger. No need to hug the wall or connect wires to charge my phone ever again.
FREEDOM :D
Great video :)
Thank you !! I started using a battery charger to charge the extra batteries. working out pretty good for me so far .
Thank you, that was very helpful...I got mine 3 years ago, still as good as new...it does it all..just can't think of any better
awesome!! Great to hear!! Still hanging on to mine as a secondary phone
so happy to see your channel doing so well bro!!
thanks!!
I have had my Note 4 for years and I will NOT replace it. It does everything and more than some of these new phones.
Great to hear is also working good for you after all the years!!
Just bought mine and I'm going to school. This phone is extremely useful and i love it.
That is awesome!!!
I still use note 4 and no plan upgrade at all as this phone is so cool and I don't have single problem with this phone and I use this for run my TH-cam channel as well including record some of my video and this phone doing amazing job I think I will use this phone another 2 - 3 year
very nice!! I also shot some of my initial videos using the Not 4 when I started the channel!
MayitoTek ye I have 3 camera with I use but as I make many video in my work I use my phone for that
Use it another 2-3 years * cough cough * if the dying emmc problem is not happening in which case
-you don't use your phone often
-you're just lucky as hell
kStor2poche I use my phone 10h a day nonstop for work, youtube and more
Frog - Tech - Tips then I can almost assure you that it'll die before these 2 to 3 years unless you're very lucky...
Loved my Note 4 until it bricked out of nowhere last week. Tried everything. Different batteries, different chargers. Nothing. Wouldn't even boot into any recovery mode. Just 100% dead. I was so bummed. I wound up getting the new S9+ which is amazing of course...but I'd still happily be using my Note 4 right now if it didn't die out of nowhere :(
I adored my Note 3 too!
I'm still using my Note 4. Even right now as I type this
Good to know!!
I am with you on that !! I actually replaced the battery every year, but I can see it lasting up to two years while charging it through out the day .
Love my Note 4, finally got a new battery, still using it and watching you on it LOL. Use my S7 as a backup.
Very nice!!great to hear!! I am still hanging on to the n4, hard to let go of it
Thanks for the video, good job.
Great points, as always, Mario.
It's amazing how well older technology still holds up.. from laptops to cell phones.
no kidding , some of that old tech that was well made is still rocking in 2018. Thanks!!
I still using this phone and i love note 4!
very nice!!
Still rocking the note 4! Recently bought a new battery and replaced my old one, works like new again! I get a full day charge.
good to hear !
Nice job. My LG V20 has an IR blaster and I know people love it but I personally never used it. Maybe I need to give it a try.
very nice, I didnt know the V20 had it ..
The IR Blaster is great!!!
If you want to use it I recommend getting the paid version of Anymote by Color Tiger from the Play Store.
Fun With The Bugs was gonna say the same about the ir blaster, I'm rocking a rooted v20.
I had an older phone with different ir system that would learn commands. literally press up on phone then up on new and it would copy the command. It was greater than ir blasting
I'm a note 4 user and i just want to ask, how did you update your software into marshmallow? I'm stuck with Lollipop :( thanks! :)
MayitoTek I'm from the Philippines, haha. Thank you! And yeah, I would try to ask some samsung stores here. Hihi. Thanks again :)
awesome!! Let me know if you figure it out ! Pretty sure this will come handy for someone else and I can share the same ! 😀👍
dont update lolipop to marshmilow thrs bug
go to xda forum. Install custom rom
We subscribed.
yeah, I was amazed on how many people around the world are still rocking the Note 4. thanks!
I really liked the video. I just hate that Samsung stopped the Security Updates because the phone is still relevant and one of the best they have made.
I think the Note 4 is one of the few phones that many people are still using after so many years. Usually companies will stop investing money updating software on the old devices
I love the Note 4 and I'm using it now but I can't use it the way I want because it has so many issues. Now I just use it as basically a tablet.
unless you are having some hardware issues.. Try formatting and reinstalling the OS, disable and uninstall all the apps that you don't use. That made a huge difference for me .
MayitoTek thank you I will try that.
Let me know if you have any questions.. I was actually thinking on making a video on how to do it
MayitoTek if it isn't too much trouble please do that would be a great help to me because I love my phone.
I will try to get it in the next couple of weeks ! 👍
If you own a Note 4 consider watching a video I did for you guys on how I was able to make the Note 4 a little faster . Thanks!! 👍

Also , don't forget to let us know what do you like best about the Note 4!!
I own one
my one is very fast. but i swap phone cuz note 4 does not shoot raw file.
The IR is not working since a couple of updates 😢
I really miss it as it was very handy
NOW,I HAVE NOTE4 WITH BROKEN GLASS,BUT WORK...
MayitoTek hi, i agree with you. Very well said, Note 4 is still a great phone and is my favorite
I miss this phone!!! I loved this phone.. Great video.. Killing it.. Keep up the awesome videos.
Yeah man, I had to go back and buy another one just to have on the side after I sold my original Note 4. Thanks!
I was thinking about getting this phone this video helped me. Understand it alot more thx so much.
awesome!! I did a video on what I did to speed mine up in case you get it , check it out . Thanks!
I use this Smartphone from 2014 and Still is Working Perfactly!! The Note 4 is GREAT!!! Mine is scratches but no matter that, works like a Champ!!!
that is great to hear !!

-Super AMOLED
-S Pen
-Big 5.7 Inch Display
-Heart Rate Sensor
-Removable 3250mah Battery
-Fast, No Lag (Snapdragon Variant)
Cons:
-Many Hardware Issues (Faulty EMMC)
-Battery Drains Very Very Fast
great points!!
I'm suffering from the faulty emmc sadly
Note 4 here. Still alive.
It sure is!!
Thank you for confirming why I love my Note 4. No plans to change either. Was using remote and perhaps I'll add it again. LOVE MY 4! I use heavily for group text for church team of 21. A mini pc in my palm, cut/paste music vids, pixs etc.
def is a great phone! Thanks!!
I love my Note 4. It's been years now and it doesn't feel old.
Works fine with new apps, battery is good.
That is good news!!
Every time I turned off my Note 4 I can't turn it back on. I have to remove the battery & reinsert it before I can turn the phone back on. Please Help
Try doing a master reset.. sounds like you may have a hardware issue or motherboard issue. Only thing I can imagine doing is trying with a diff battery and doing the master reset
MayitoTek I did change battery & master reset. Didn't fix the problem. Any other suggestion?
sounds like the hardware issue many users have reported. I had that happened to me a few years ago on my first Note 4. Some people have suggested using an app called wakelock that keeps the phone from restarting
That's what I am using now, thanks
👍
The readability of lettering is much better on the Note 4 than on the Note 8. The curved edges of the Note 8 limit the usuable width for words.
Wilfried Rigler i agree I'm thinking of selling my note 8 and going back to my note 4
Looks like some good points considering the age

Thanks for a nice video. The Huawei P20 pro has an IR blaster. Also a request i I may? How about an update to Oreo where you try what works and what dosent? Thank you
you are right, many people were happy they put the IR blaster on the P20 Pro, I wont understand why they didnt add it to the other version aswell. I already tried rooting this note 4 but was not able because is ATT carrier lock. I would need to get my hands on another version of the note 4 to to a custom ROM. Will keep it in mind!
Hey man, great video. I recently brought a new note 4 but it won't let update. Can you please give me steps on what to do in order to update
I was also not able to get the latest update. My phone has the AT&T software. I was able to find a Samsung Experience Store in the US.. took it there and they did it for me free of charge.. Not sure where you are located,, but they are in some of the Best Buy Stores
I have this phone, planning to get lineage OS to run Nougat on it
nice!!! Let me know how it works when you do it pls!!
Very nice update on this phone today, it's still a great phone for many people
no kidding!!! I am def keeping it as a backup for a while!
I had to get my degitizer replaced recently. A bit pricey but totally worth it for essentially, in my opinion, the best Note Samsung has ever produced.
samsung needs to bring the Note 4 form factor with the latest specs on a classic edition
@@MayitoTek Where do I sign up! lol
That white look of the phone is so cool to me
white is my fav, I guess with white with black glass doesn't do well since Samsung is not making them
I have a white it looks nice but I prefer black.
The mate 10/10 pro still have the IR blaster. A very important feature that Samsung decided to ditch!!
good to know!! Thanks for sharing !! Seems this is a feature that many other companies are still using , is just not always advertised, but I see how much people love it .
Watching this vid on my note 4 😊😊
very nice!!!
Battery is fairly good. But they do die, at a point (after a year ish) just buy a new battery
where is a good place to buy a battery? and how do I find the IR app? I love my Note 4 and I have no plans to replace it anytime soon
I just git mine from Amazon , it as an Anker battery.. Many people have also recommended ZeroLemon batteries.. There is a comment on this video where people are discussing and recommending diff apps for the IR blaster. Peel Smart Remote app seems to be the most common one used
thank you for replying
🙂👍
Watching on my rockin note 4,no regrets since the day I bought it!
That is good to hear!!
This phones is awesome.. too bad Samsung didn’t update the ui. I still have my note 4.
Yeah, I guess it may slow down the overall performance since the hardware is not up to today's UI standa rds.. I just hope they keep supporting at least the security updates.
I just changed the rom on N910C and I have the Note 7 ui and theme support, awesome experience
The multi window is second to none on this epic ohone
probably the best compare to other phones when it comes to using the multi window
It's a true multi window not split screens....I really hope Samsung brings it back...you turn it on and drag from the top right corner
Devil is on the details and the wording!! You are right , I should have said split screen!
I unlocked mine (US verizon model) and put updated to Oreo 8.1.0 and i couldn't be happier!
awesome!! Sadly I was not able to root mine.. ATT models are setup where it cant be done.. I tried
Made a video talking about getting an image burned, hope that helps you determine if that is what your phone has

you"l have to replace the lcd, a sad thing though, is that it's the most expensive part for note 4.
If your note 4 becomes unstable or laggy you might find that the WakeLock app can keep it alive
Thanks man!! You are the second person to mention that , I actually already download it .. need to go play with it.
DARK VADER I've never had an S6 so I'm not able to test that
Tom Douglas aiiight
I still rock the origin Note 4 (Edge).
Note 4 edge? I don't rememberthat one.. was it the Note edge Maybe?
Thanks!!
I got the Note 8, but I like the camera in the Note 4 better.
The note 4 does have a great camera!
Sawlon Why?
Because of the 16 MP over the 9 MP of the Note 8 while shooting in 16;9 ratio.
Major drop in resolution in newer phones... and 4:3 sensor...
I can't update the android version of my note 4 lte
Current version is 5.0.1
Whenever i download the update and click install, the phone rebooted but after few secs,it says error occurred
I have tried this many many times but no solution yet...:(
I would suggest you do a full restore first and try to download to the update after..
Also the s note app is handy and compatible the Evernote and Windows One note
It sure is!!
Ricco Rich try use SIMPLENOTE. it's amazing
It was a cool phone till it got the re boot loop. Then the green line. Then it got some crazy code then it got the green line. Now it is just a brick.
PonziZombieKiller try changing the battery, I have 4 different battery's and some have this issue
Lol I'm using thus phone right now 😂😎😎😎😎😎
very nice!! 👍
😍💜💙
I still use my Note 4, never changed it since 2014 even if I could. Thanks for this video!
Thanks you!! Glad you like it!!
I own a Note 4 still and it still works great. Just gotta have one or two extra batteries.
Check out the Zero Lemon 10,000 MAh battery for it
Yup thanks, I did check it out, though, didn't like the additional thickness. Will just get two extra normal sized batteries. Cheers :)
👍
I miss my remote thingie
I forgot it had it until people started reminding me on my first video on the Note 4
Aliex Fishing I use everyday!
Me too I have note 4 and remote doesn't work at all !
Can anyone tell us why
Did they stop it or what ?
reuzaki tsu huh that's weird it still works for me have you rooted your phone cause some custom ROMs dont have IR blaster support
Inferno Squid same here I have my cable and 3 TV'S register works really good
I just wanted to buy this phone...
It is still holding pretty good!
Thanks for the super quick response! I'll look into this!
NOW. ( The first Note 4 that went bad)
I used it for over a year and had no issues, I used to play clash of clans for hours in a day .
Hmm...interesting. It's over with now anyway. I just went ahead and got a Note 8 last night. All good things must come to an end, I suppose.
Wathing from my note 4
very nice!!!
I have Note 4 ! From korea LTE A
Very nice!!

Cőòl review I like it I am still note 4 users ű.thanks
Thanks!! That is awesome!! Always good to hear I am not alone!!
Its a conspiracy guys
still better than foxcon iShit x 😁
LOL!! Thats a good one!!
OWN IN 2019
very nice!!!
@@MayitoTek Thanks for this amazing video ♥
Emmc problems with this phone
I have mixed feelings on that.. I have owned 3 different note 4s in the past 3 years and only one had that issue.. that happened to me after pushing the phone to the potential while using the VR headset.. but you make a point! 👍
How to fix it?
I'm always writing much data on internal storage - downloading from youtube, tons of screenshots, etc but still works fine. I know that mmc driver technology has some features to eliminate bad blocks like ssd does.
How do you buy the led and replace the one in the phone. Mine broke. Cant see anything on the screen. I have the new note 8 but I love my 4 so I kept it.
most people are able to find the parts for the Note 4 in eBay and sometimes in Amazon.
It wierd because my two.phones before this.....galaxy s4 and note 5.....didnt use the chip for service and i jad flawless service.....always a strong signal pretty much anywhere
yeah, that is pretty strange.. thanks for sharing
