Ibraheem Al hadede Both my Note 4 N910H Exynos and my Note 1 N7000 rocking since 2014 and 2011 respectively, I have spare motherboards in case one goes boom, they are pretty cheap parts now tough, the Note 1 can get basic stuff done rather well, Onenote, TH-cam and some gaming, rather surprising for 7 year old tech
Ninten Nol Congratulations, as I have to literally go for my S9+ to get that resolution (if I have that plan in the first place). My Galaxy S4 can only do 720p due to hardware limitations, though it has 1080p display. My newest phones before S9+ are the Galaxy S5 and A8, and both do 1080p only with their 1080p display. -_-
got mine in 2016 and had it for 2 years now. I take care of it like its my car... no scratches, no screen protector and it STILL looks new.... this is the most gorgeous phone EVER made
Note 4 user since 2015, and I'm very satisfied with it.... I recently installed Android 8.1 and it's an amazing change, it does feel a ton lot faster than before, not getting rid of this anytime soon
I have a Note 4 since almost release. Apart from replacing the battery a couple times, and the pen tip once (it came with 6 tips) never had issues with it. Just yesterday I bought a 128GB SD cause videos are huge. Got really lucky with this one.
I just bought refurbished note 4 a month ago in 130$ . but honestly when i first got it it was laggy software running so i flashed Twrp recovery and resurrection remix rom and now runs like a jet. Best amoled 1440p screen/16mp rear camera/3gb ram/ir blaster/removeable battery+microsd card slot and much more. What more can i ask in 130$.
9:21 That's where the processor is located in the majority of the phones, modren phones commonly have a metal riel around the phone and a cooper pipe that goes along the outline on the phone, basically is a pieace of cooper touching the processor, so that, when the processor starts to heat, the heat transfer to that pipe, and then to the outline metal riel around the phone, metal is a better heat conductor than plastic, and this systems helps a lot keeping your phone cooler, jerryrigseverything made an experiment with the LG G6, he basically had 2, opened one removed the cooper pipe and then ran some benchmarks with a thermal camera, the one with the pipe stayed 3 to 5 degrees cooler than the one without the pipe.
Got one in late 2017. BEST phone. Thanks for review. Came with 2 batts including extended batt; special back for wireless charging, wireless pad. Rooted it immediately and killed off most of the Google software (not old Nav) and bloatware (FB, etc). Only think I hate is stock contacts and stock messaging (new apps suck for plain messaging). I have cool tool installed to show temp in status bar; love this phone.
I have that phone and it won't break if you drop it. (So far!) I really love it. I bought it new and I learn new things about it every time I see a video like yours! Thanks!
thanks for the effort taken for making this video. I have been using this phone as my daily driver for the past 3 years and I absolutely love it. Recently I had to change the main board but I still don't wanna give up on it as it has a removable battery and it serves my purpose. Thanks.
D Tay there are already lots of videos about how to do it on TH-cam. Once you've installed the custom recovery on your phone flashing new roms is pretty easy. So the initial process requires your to run software on a Windows pc then connect your phone to it. After that you flash roms from the phone directly. There was a really good toolkit called 'skipsoft' or something? That made the rooting process really easy
Excellent video bro I had my Note 4 for 4 years now. I refuse to change it because of the removable back. I honestly hope they would bring back this function.
I upgraded from a Note 4 to an S9+ , I had my Note4 in an Otter Case , when I got the phone out of the case I fell in love with it again , used Odin to flash TWRP recovery on it and installed Resurrection Oreo 8.1 (variant) then rooted the phone again its a beast , FailTech I promise you can open 5 or 6 apps multi task all you want and still goes , Now I have my Sim in my S9+ and iam using the Note4 for all my social media tasks (no sim) . The Note4 is still a great phone with power and visual candy .
But how does Resurrection handle certain apps that require "Authentic OS", I've seen apps like Android Pay, hell even PokemonGo chucks a hissy fit if the operation system isn't authentic OS vs Custom :(
I have had 4 Note 4s. I exchanged the one that had the focus problem on the camera. And I love the fact they were the first of the Note series with high quality stereo microphones.
Yeah, I'm noticing my Note 4 seems to have the focus problem, it's annoying, but I just shake the phone before taking a photo and it sharpens up. I think I'm way past being able to simply swap it with another. I wish there was some sorta fix for it.
Greg M Bummer. I was a little past my exchange period but T-Mobile said it was a common problem and exchanged it but I got one from an open box and the battery didn't last as long.
Just broke mine last week :( Love my note 8 but I'll always miss battery replaceability and IR blaster. oh, and the gorilla glass 3 was really durable..
fuflang feel the same way, mine was dropped badly recently (not by me of course!) but no way I'm paying that much for Note 8, hoping for another Note 4 to be available for sale locally
Other than my camera lens cracked , the main reason I left my note was because the BATTERY IS HORRIBLE every 3 months I had to buy a new battery because once you hit 50% Snapchat and anything else would automatically force shut the phone off :(
I still use the Note 4 now since 2015. I use it for quick photo editing. My DSLR to phone to Social media work flow fits well for my need. Snapseed and Touch retouch runs good as well as other photo editing apps. The camera is not good for low light and does not produce bokeh like the more recent Samsung phones. My biggest gripe is the S pen and the quick launch button, which is one of its flagship feature. The moment that the OS was updated, that feature was gone. They told me my phone requires factory reset but I think it is BS because the tech support said it "might" bring it back. For the battery I bought a zero lemon. It turn my phone into a brick size and people are shocked to find out that it is a phone. They thought is is a Powerbank. The zero lemon is now 2 years old and it maintains a charge for 1 day of use with you tube and Internet. But sometimes the screen does not hibernate and is kept on while an app is running. It drains the battery and becomes warm. Downside is if the phone gets bumped, it restarts. Performance wise the phone sometimes bug out when too many apps were opened. I just close the other running apps. For me, I do not recommend buying the note 4 now based on the available phones, features, specs compared to the price. Android has also stopped support for the OS and will no longer receive updates. This means that software wise, this has only a life of 4 years before it can no longer support the latest apps (like the iPhone 4 at this time)
I've got the Note 4 with ZeroLemon too! Although my battery seems to last several days with moderate use. The only thing that acts weird on my phone is the camera. Occasionally I gotta shake the phone before a photo and then the camera comes into focus. Beyond that, it's still a solid beast.
After 2.5 years my Note 4 had gotten really slow, ran hot and the battery lasted only 12 hours. I tried suggestions like clearing the cache, checking application CPU utilization, checking battery usage by app, etc. Nothing worked. Finally, I gave in and did a full factory reset *without* automatically reinstalling apps. After that it was like a new phone again with full performance and battery life. So happy. Won't load garbage apps at random anymore. I plan to keep this phone as long as possible since the battery is so easily replaced. Also worth mentioning it's a full world phone.
I was devistated when I lost my Note 4. I then got a S7 and hate it. I cannot wait to get my next upgrade in a few months. My wife said she'll use her Note 4 until it is dead. Just about all the new top phones, like the S9+ has a much taller but narrower screen, so watching pics and video on the beautiful Note screen is still a treat. Most videos are 16:9 so the new screens actually gives you a smaller playback view because of the lost width. I only used the stylus to edit pics but the precise control was great for that. The IR I used all the time.
Bordnick Gold Damn...... well it's only a stupid gadget and you can get another one, hope the person gets shocked or the phone blows up in there pocket,
6 guys with guns I'd really like to see how that turns out. I'm not too materialistic plus I had insurance chose a different phone one month close to my upgrade date so I got a s7 and s7 Edge.
So my experiences with the note 4: I bought one in December 2017, and in June it had to be returned. I updated the phone to 6.01, and discovered that sometimes the phone would hard reboot, not turn on, wouldn't charge and booted in ODIN mode. But, let me just say, when it worked, my goodness it worked. I absolutely loved it. It had to go as one day it was totally done - with a charged replacement battery - confirmed as rip. My best advice I can give to anyone interested is buy from a reputable company, who has a refund/exchange policy - it's just that peace of mind if something does start going wrong, you're not £200 down.
I have S5 wich is very similar to this one, I installed stcok android on it and the difference is night and day, performance wise and esthetically, and the fingerprint is 5x times more reliable and faster, only area you will lose some features is the camera, pictures wont come as sharp and you wont get 4K recording I think. But performance is at least 3x faster than stock and PERFECTLY USABLE on 2018, just dont throw any games at it.
I would suggest buying a newer phone that's about the same value as the note 4, unless you want the samsung's awesome multitasking. My favorite feature of the note 4 is the multitasking pop up windows and has hardly ever crashed with around 3-4 apps opened at once, however it definitely lags and gets hot after opening more than 3.
This phone is so worth time in 2018! It has some very good things that new flagship don't have: off screen buttons, 16:9 aspect ratio, removable battery, changeable battery cover!
When I saw the removable back my heart skipped a beat then I remembered it's the Note 4 those were the days where you can actually change your battery your damn self
Actually that is the only reason why I'm buying a old note rather than a new budget And mostly in the same price is can enjoy -S Pen -Fingerprint - Budget 2GB Ram Note 4 3GB Ram What else would anyone want
I'm watching this on the note 4 lol. Had this phone since 2014, still pulling through! The only thing I did was replace the battery since it actually had a removable back.
Very detailed and informative video, I totally agree with every point you made. I actually recommended someone recently to buy this phone based on the money they had to spend. It is a very good buy Imo as well.
I have never owned a s5 or note 4 but back when they were new i remember feeling them in the store and i really like the texture of those back covers, shame everything is all glass and slippery metal now.
Thanx for the very nice review, still got mine and its a stayer, indeed a stunning screen, replaceable battery, SD storage, nice photos and video makes it a timeless phone.
The dimness of this phone is incredible. It's so dim that in a shade, I forgot to turn up the display's brightness from the dark setting such that I thought that my display was dead or not working. Pulled the notification bar and then increasing the brightness and was relieved. LOL.
Put omega Rom on it and it'll be the best phone ever. I recently bought an S9+ and sent it back and got another note 4. Better aspect, phisical buttons, no lost real estate, no daft curved edges... It's a killer phone.
Thanks for the video. I am a Note 4 use for the last three years. It is faster now than the day I bought it because it received few good updates. But it still gets warm and I have been considering rooting and controlling CPU to save some battery. Would ypu consider ROMS which have SPen features functioning?
I currently have the Note 4. Enjoying the whole system except for when I had a glitch. Sent in for repair and using since. It's not been responding as it should but I think it's the provider slowing things down. I have considered getting a new Note 4 but been waiting for the Note 8 to come down in price.
Had note 4 since it came out. Still going strong and wouldn't mind having it for another year. Got a custom rom on it and it runs pretty well. Only problem is I have so much dust trapped under the front camera and I don't know how to remove it without taking the screen off which I don't want to do.
MHL is another big reason to get Note 4 - lag free display on big TV for gaming, presentation or using Note 4 as stand in for set top box with sidesync. Sadly missing on more recent samsung phones
I had a note 4, i loved the darn thing so much! It broke down all of a sudden, phone tech says that the motherboard gave out..! It kept on displaying " device overheating' then it shyts down.. Had to get a cheapo replacement, note 3 is way tougher than the note 4..! My mom still uses my old note 3 that I gave her, still manages to serve all her needs..! I mean for old people and for kids, these are good options!
one could get the LG G6, Honor 8 (or 9 maybe), Note 5, Galaxy S6/7, in eBay or locally for around the same price or a little more than what you described in the video, which IMO are better options.
I still like my note 4 and I'm writing this on it just now. It's capabilities and software were way ahead of its time. Many of the built in apps such as Studio are better than the current offerings. However there is a major hardware fault in many of them that is in fact the motherboard and when you're note 4 starts switching itself of and lagging and you know it's not the battery, then it's the motherboard. There is a free app available that is a fix and I'll be happy to share it and instructions on its use if anyone has been having motherboard issues.
Shawn Manuel Download an app called Wake Lock from Google Play. Install the app and then select Partial Wake Lock from the list. What this does is to supply a tiny amount of power to the processor when the phone is locked and will keep it ticking over. It will solve the problems of the phone randomly switching itself off. Only downside is that you can't switch the phone off or Wake Lock won't work but most people rarely do anyway.
you can make it last forever (literally) by hot-swapping batteries and charging them with the external charger, that's the big advantage. with a note 8 rom + S Pen you have the most powerful OS on the planet. the screen is almost on par with modern ones if you can find one without burn in. processor and GPU were already starting to lag pretty bad when I owned one 2 years ago, though.
I am currently owning this and in my opinion, unless you can get it for under $100, definitely skip this one because for just $150, you can get the Mi5X/MiA1 or if you like iPhones the iPhone SE is still a very strong low budget offering. This phone WAS great but now it just can't stand up to most modern apps, I get like 3 to 4 random reboots everyday, not even a custom rom helps at this point.
I just gave up my note 4, had it for 3 years, loved the phone but the 3gb of ram got to be too small for my heavy app use. I didn't want to give it up, but after a new battery and a fresh wipe it was still too slow. The main reason for keeping for so long is the ir blaster was a keen feature for me. Now I have a mate 10 pro, excellent battery life and it has an ir blaster with 6gb ram, plenty of room for the future.
The note 4 was the last note, after that it was all S+ with stylus. I really hope they will make a phone like that again, best of the best for productivity, a tool that doesn't compromise usefulness for looks. Maybe the Note X?
Great review! Truly worth waiting for 😃 I am glad that you mentioned the Samsung stylus pen. With the S-memo I take around a 50 notes per month using the S-pen. I tried to replace it with a mid-range LG Stylus 2 (and later 3) as the price of the Note 8 is way above my budget 🙄 However, the LG's stylus technology is far behind. It looks to me like the Samsung Galaxy Note series is unrivalled on the market of phablets with a stylus pen. 👍
Yes. It works just fine and you can replace the battery. Also, the screen isn't curved so you won't accidentally touch the screen just holding it and you can keep light off the screen which you can't do with a curved screen, you'll always have light at least on the edges of curved screens and that's why I hate them.
I still use this phone connected to an external DAC for music only and it works well - like you said the screen is still top notch and better in low light than my S9 plus..
There is a wireless adapter for this phone. charging is slow as expected but it also warms up the rear of the phone while charging. IMHO, skip it and stick to corded charging..
The note 4 will seem like a glory phone until you find out that it will fail with an "mmc_read failed" error. This will make your phone unusuable unless get a motherboard replacement just to fix it with imo, isnt worth it. Mine failed when I really needed it the most and apps like WakeLock no longer work anymore.
Too 10 most suspenseful anime moments.

Michael Janicki Not today, but I rather have a phone that can last me 3-4 years in a row, like how my S5 can still be used today.
kf zhu I wouldn't say S5 is still usable. Android 6.0 feels quite dated these days. You miss on most new features
Nearly 4 years, Note 4 is still my daily driver. Awesome, simply awesome phone!

I've got a note 4. Could you possibly make a video on how yo install custom rom?
D Tay what type of note 4?
search for XDA developers on Google
on the xda site type your device name
Unlock your bootloader 1st then install custom recovery through odin then use recovery to install custom roms
Yay! Aren't they not friendly towards beginners though?
D Tay there are already lots of videos about how to do it on TH-cam. Once you've installed the custom recovery on your phone flashing new roms is pretty easy. So the initial process requires your to run software on a Windows pc then connect your phone to it. After that you flash roms from the phone directly. I'm watching this on the note 4 lol. Had this phone since 2014, still pulling through! The only thing I did was replace the battery since it actually had a removable back.
thank you so much I've been looking for a good note 4 2018 review for a while.
My Note 4 still working perfectly! But what about save payments and where did you bought that bigger battery?
Thanx for the very nice review, still got mine and its a stayer, indeed a stunning screen, replaceable battery, SD storage, nice photos and video makes it a timeless phone.
Hey mate. I Brought a new note 4 couple weeks ago unfortunately it won't let me update. Iv missed over 12 updates. Do u know how I can fix this

i still remember when i just got the note 4 :) great video man! i might pick one up for fun!
The dimness of this phone is incredible. It's so dim that in a shade, I forgot to turn up the display's brightness from the dark setting such that I thought that my display was dead or not working. Pulled the notification bar and then increasing the brightness and was relieved. LOL.
Great video Ryan!
Put omega Rom on it and it'll be the best phone ever. I recently bought an S9+ and sent it back and got another note 4. Better aspect, phisical buttons, no lost real estate, no daft curved edges... It's a killer phone.
I play pubg on my note edge and it's not bad
Sergeant Daffy not mine 🤩
Jazil Ghogomu not in my n910c :p
Panzerkampfwagen works ok on my 910f
Could install game tuner from the galaxy apps store... And reduce the Res...
Get uh.. gfx tool. smooth hd, 60 fps. Thank me later. And uhhh... Get a new phone like I did, note 4 is shit now
Watching this on my original Note 4, still in excellent condition always cases. Still happy with it!
1:30 is that really 5480mah?
Great video .....awesome Broll and amazing camera samples.
It's just that the audio was really 'hissy'
I understand. Using a microphone on a computer on the other side of the room is a bit annoying :/
Were your videos always in 1440p or is that a recent thing? Didn't notice since I would use a 1080p screen but now I'm using the s7edge
Thanks for the video.
I am a Note 4 use for the last three years. It is faster now than the day I bought it because it received few good updates. But it still gets warm and I have been considering rooting and controlling CPU to save some battery.
Would ypu consider ROMS which have SPen features functioning?
Whats that date widget my dudes? Looks 🔥
Why so much white noise
I currently have the Note 4. Enjoying the whole system except for when I had a glitch. Sent in for repair and using since. It's not been responding as it should but I think it's the provider slowing things down. I have considered getting a new Note 4 but been waiting for the Note 8 to come down in price.
Why did phones stop the ir blasters?
I use my Note 4 as my daily driver and I love it it works so well with Nova Launcher!
Thanks Failtech! Just wanted to know your thoughts on safety? Since it is a rather old phone
Thanks for keeping up the good quality content on older phones!
Hey what's your friends channel name
The one that had to do the Coston Rom on the phone for you.
one could get the LG G6, Honor 8 (or 9 maybe), Note 5, Galaxy S6/7, in eBay or locally for around the same price or a little more than what you described in the video, which IMO are better options.
That's old memories of bumping back the battery to 💯 percent in a sec.
I'm still rocking the mustard. You can get some nice back covers from EBay. I have white, black, and gold.
Cailean Moore I have motherboard issues!
Thnx for review , i'll wait for Custom Rom Impressions , mayby i'll buy one.
Note 4 is Samsung best smart phone ever. ..ir blaster...'s pen. ..heart beat sensor....😎😎😀
Great review and have to agree it's a beast of a phone. Custom Rom it and it breaths new life into it !
Twitch isnt working for my note 4. Any idea which old version works best?
you can make it last forever (literally) by hot-swapping batteries and charging them with the external charger, that's the big advantage. with a note 8 rom + S Pen you have the most powerful OS on the planet. the screen is almost on par with modern ones if you can find one without burn in. processor and GPU were already starting to lag pretty bad when I owned one 2 years ago, though.
Have you measured that aftermarket battery? 5480mAh sounds a bit optimistic, I'm curious exactly how generous they were when they rated it.
Where u get this battery ?
It's true 5000 and more capacity ?
Thanks
Phone is great, batery is sucks
Where I can search and buy one of this phone??
I am currently owning this and in my opinion, unless you can get it for under $100, definitely skip this one because for just $150, you can get the Mi5X/MiA1 or if you like iPhones the iPhone SE is still a very strong low budget offering. This phone WAS great but now it just can't stand up to most modern apps, I get like 3 to 4 random reboots everyday, not even a custom rom helps at this point.
Great video best b roll going as usual really enjoy your content !!!
15 minutes is okay. More than that is actually quite tiring to watch. But I like this one because you're so passionate reviewing this phone 😁
I use this Phone right now! Its an great Phone!
what Rom are you using in this phone? I know that ain't stock.
Where did you get your battery from?
The note 4 was the last note, after that it was all S+ with stylus.
I really hope they will make a phone like that again, best of the best for productivity, a tool that doesn't compromise usefulness for looks.
Maybe the Note X?
Great review! Truly worth waiting for 😃
I am glad that you mentioned the Samsung stylus pen. With the S-memo I take around a 50 notes per month using the S-pen. I tried to replace it with a mid-range LG Stylus 2 (and later 3) as the price of the Note 8 is way above my budget 🙄
However, the LG's stylus technology is far behind.
I upgrade from my first Note 4 to another Note 4.
Del waste of money
I recently bought a Note 9 but realized the screen wasn't as sharp as the 4-year-old Note 4 so I returned. Still using my Note 4 and I just love it.
I still use this phone connected to an external DAC for music only and it works well - like you said the screen is still top notch and better in low light than my S9 plus..
Where did you buy it ? Im trying to buy one.
What's the tag that's on your hand?
EDC? Ultra?
Hey does its camera have full manual controls?
Shutter speed, iso, manual focus, etc?
Owner for 4 years and still counting! Shout out to all my Note 4 CRU...BLUKU BLUKU!!!....THEY ARE LIVING HARD BODIED LEGENDS, JUST LIKE THE OWNERS!
What's the name of the clock widget?
There is a wireless adapter for this phone. charging is slow as expected but it also warms up the rear of the phone while charging. IMHO, skip it and stick to corded charging..
The note 4 will seem like a glory phone until you find out that it will fail with an "mmc_read failed" error. This will make your phone unusuable unless get a motherboard replacement just to fix it with imo, isnt worth it. Mine failed when I really needed it the most and apps like WakeLock no longer work anymore.
where u get those batteries
