Although removing the battery is handy, the battery on my S8+ is sooooo good simply because of smarter technology of optimizing how to conserve energy and better battery altogether
I am just deciding which phone I will buy next as my Note 4 decided to slowly die on me (first the proximity sensor, then camera OIS motor, then lux sensor, then front camera etc.). To simply answer your question: Yes, I will miss the removable battery. However there are no flagship phones with this feature anymore. At least not from the big manufacturers. I know for sure, I will not buy a Samsung phone again. The reason is kind of a long story, but simply I do not like the way Samsung products are evolving. For example the curved display ... for me it is useless gimmick which rises the manufacturing price and reduces practicality. When I tried Note 8 I hated that no matter which angle I watched at the display, there was always some glare from the curved edges. And that is just one of many downsides I see on todays Samsung products. After a long research I opted for Xiaomi Mi 8. It has it downsides too, but for the price I cant really complain. Overall I dislike that all of the todays phones are built as an disposable items. You cant really buy a phone like in the past, which lasts several years. The philosophy of manufacturers today is like: "We hope it will last at least until the warranty ends and then go buy new one or go fu*k yoursef, we will not support your old product anymore".
I definitely miss the removable battery and the IR blaster. Also I like the size of the s-pen in the note 4 but the note 8 has the better overall S-pen. The battery in the note 8 was awesome until the Oreo update. I'm at the point where I don't want new software updates if it's going to kill my battery
I have the note 8, but man I was in love with the note 4..honestly I think it's best note phone I have ever used and samsung produced, removable battery, expandable storage, great screen, good battery life #legendary
...just made the transition myself, it's tough, still keeping my Note 4 at my desk on WiFi, but my Messages and other apps were failing, freezing, and becoming frustrating. Honestly believe it's AT&T using 'updates' to slowly kill older phones and leverage sales.
I used the note edge variant and found the additional edge to be truly useful and just got a note 8 today. I am on the fence, I will need more time to know.
@@scrambler350 There was a big lawauit against Samsung for Note 4 failures. It's pretty well documented. Some phone who kept off the updates survived. I still have a Note 4, and have only update it recently after Samsung slipped in some more updates fixing issues with battery and performance. Note 4 is still a beast and I see no reason to buy anything else yet.. besides phone tech is dead stale at the moment in my opinion
I wish there was a note 4 2018 edition, same phone with upgraded specs like better camera, processor etc... I use the IR blaster and switch batteries all the time.
Unfortunately companies are forcing obsolescence by not supporting updates for older devices like the note 4. I cant get a new android for my T version of the note 4. I also feel they went with the non-removable battery so it again forces you to buy a new phone again and again every 1-3 years. Another thing people need to look out for when buying a phone is how much a replacement for a screen costs. These new phones are outrageous in their screen pricing just to have a curve on them or super high definition. This is why I went with a Xiomi redmi note 4x, ( another note 4 lol ) it's great, it cost a little over $100, and the screen is like $30 compared to $100 to $200 or $300 which makes fixing flagship phones not viable. One day these companies are going to have to wake up to the realization that smart-phones are ubiquitous since there are soooo many companies producing them for cheap like xiaomi. I love my note 4 and still use it, but would I get a new note 8 / 9 / 10? for 600 - $1000 + in 2019, nope. Even used they are $450 - $700, but then you have to consider whats left on the battery and how much and how hard it is to replace them. I wish I could just get another note 4 with upgrades like more ram, storage, cpu, and camera that stays up to date on the android os. Really the only draw for me on a new samsung phone is the DEX which allows one to replace their laptop or desktop as a basic computing device. Although it does not work great, it does work, and perhaps it will get better with time or the Linux capability. With the "throw away" mentality that these phone companies have with such high end devices that cost so much, it's only a matter of time that throw away design also equates to people only shelling out a few hundred at for a phone they know they can only use for a couple years at best. Self defeating in my opinion for companies like samsung and apple. That coupled with phones that can do it all at such low prices ( like the note 4 in 2014 ) will leave only the few who will pay so much for such expensive phones that are "old" in a year or less. The "flag ship phone" idea I think is on its last leggs since fewer and fewer people will be swayed by slight performance increases for maximum prices and since there are far cheaper options out there now a days from a myriad of companies, like google, 1+, xiaomi, huawei, ....... a dozen more. Nearly all phones are made in China, ( or thier parts, or assembled) so then does it really matter anymore if you buy a far cheaper Chinese phone? Unless of course they roll out the flexible screens they have been touting about for years someday, then its going to be a big shift over to that. Personally I'd like to have my computing and storage and battery on one device, then a screen that it links to via blue-tooth. that way you can have a "brick" in your pocket or belt or purse that has ever increasing performance over time and then have an interface device like a phone screen, tv screen, projector, computer monitor, roll up screen, overladed reality glasses ect ect. This way you only have one device for computing and storage and can use it on anything. With lines blurring between these devices other than visualization size and the potential of quantum computing it's only a matter of time. But that will be in like 10-20 years....sadness.
I still can't find any reason to change my Note 4 to 8, as there is only downgrade in the features I mostly care about. However, if my Note 4 went wrong, I would have to buy the 8 as there is no other new phone on the market with similar specs.
upload077 I would suggest you go and get the note 8 from Best Buy for about 5 days and play with it. I believe you'll love it and not go back to the note 4.
Personally I prefer Note4 over Note4. Note4 is nothing but an overprized phone with a stupid frame. A full glass body waiting to slip like a soap in your hand coupled with a low capacity non removable battery is a deal breaker for me. I don't care about how energy effecient they improve it. Nothing beats removable battery that can be swaped under a minute.
I'm Still rocking the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. I bought it when the Note 5 came out. I haven't wanted to upgrade to the newest note or S9 and I know part of the reason is because of my 1xtra replaceable battery that I don't want to give up.
I can relate to that!! I keep a couple of extra ready. Maybe one day we will get a very good battery that will last a few days or a combination of water resistant and removable battery
MayitoTek I totally agree... even just having a splash resistance would be nice for the phone. I don't necessarily even need it to be able to have to go to swimming pool 30 feet deep. But the other thing I don't like about the newer phones is like the the glass back to them. I remember you saying in the video that you're Note 4 you don't even bother with a case and the newer phones you have to. And I totally agree with that, I love the metal outside edges of the Note 4 and the hardback to it that is not glass that I don't have to worry about it breaking.
David Prodigy the note 8 is well worth the upgrade from the note 4. Giving up the non replaceable battery is worth it. The phone charges fast and you can get a battery case that charges fast. Plus Samsung has at least 3 different power saving modes on the note 8.
note 4 = can remove battery, can drop will run hot but still works. note 8 = can not remove battery, drop and will shatter. try change battery = forget about it. will result in damage, every time. note 4 was the best ever. I've gone back from an S7 edge to the note 4. note 8 is not water anything. the mic. and speaker will stop working if meets water. Samsung go back to note 4 design and remaster it. glass is pretty, but is not durable in any way. one drop and it's all over. if it needs to be rapped in rubber then it should come with it for the price they are asking.
What are you talking about? Note8 is IP68 water and dust resistant. Nothing stops working if it meets water. If you had experience like that then you probably got bamboozled with chinese clone or something.
I had note 4, I dropped it. And screen stopped working its simply so fragile and its not water resistant at all. Note 8 Can resist water the speaker will muff a little bit then it will work. Put a transparent glass case like me and enjoy your phone.
Definitely, note 4 . Swappable battery !!! Cheap wireless charger DIY mod kit available on eBay; swappable battery make product life last for many years; more environmental friendly!
Still sticking with my Note 4. After a much needed battery change I rarely have to charge it a second time during the day. The darn thing still works too darn well to justify replacing.
Я купил эту штуку, и теперь не волнуйся об этом. zerolemon.com/products/zerolemon-samsung-galaxy-note-4-10000mah-extended-battery-with-nfc-rugged-zeroshock-rugged-case-black
what brand did you get for the replacement battery? i needed a new battery for my note 4. I had bought one that claimed to be authentic OEM Samsung battery, but it barely even lasts 8 hours with screen brightness all rhe way down and minimal use.
Take into account price and I have to agree. We bought our Note 4's three years ago brand new from Samsung for £720. For the two of them. How times have changed. You can buy a mint example on eBay now for £150. Surely the biggest bargain out there in the world of mobile phones. Great camera, 4k recording, slow mo, top QHD AMOLED screen, expandable memory, swappable battery, IR blaster, fast, robust, reliable. Yum yum.
I had a Note 4 in my pocket (Note 2 in the other pocket) when a rogue wave hit me: both phones submerged in salt water and both still work. I get the impression the Note 4 has some water resistance capability.
The only thing that's better on the note 4 over the note 8 in my opinion is the removable battery, the IR blaster, and I feel the s-pen is sturdier on the note 4. But clearly the note 8 is vast superior device over the note. I have both devices. I'll be keeping my note 4. That phone was well ahead of it's time and is a all time classic.
I will seek out another note 4 before id get a new note 8, or 9, or what ever generation is out when my N4 goes. Its a great phone. IR blaster, audio jack, swapable battery, excellent camera, great display, great cpu (for a quadcore..) which is still pretty fast. I could go on, but no one will read this far anyways. Edit: I personally have not noticed a speed drop with using an sd card. But i will experiment with it and see what happens. I definetly recommend rooting and running a custom ROM and UI.
I think I just had some bad SD cards or storing too much on them. I had multiple people mention they don't have any issues while using the SD card. Swapable battery is def a feature I would like to have on the new Note generations..
quad core? The note 4 sm 910c is octa core, 64 bits and 3gb RAM. You have to buy a good SD Card to avoid the speed drop. I have Samsung EvoPlus of 128gb.
Ive been using my note 4 for 3 years now.i love that i can change the battery on the note 4 But...ill probably buy the note 9. Keep the note 4 for backup..
ROBO RAGE I can relate to that. I have a Note 4 and am currently looking for a Note 8 at a good price thinking they should drop in price when the 9 comes out
after selling my note 4 I had to go back when I needed a backup phone ( After sending back the good old Note 7).. Def keep an eye on the Note 9.. if they don't bring anything crazy new on the Note 9, I am pretty sure you can pick up the Note 8 for a good price.. My only complain right now is the battery life.. they have to find a way to make it better if it will not be removable. I usually get a new battery for the Note 4 every year
Hey Mario, what is that game you showed in this video?(At 5:54) I have a note4 since 2014, it still working flawlessly since I bought it. I see benefits about the new technologies they put into the newer note models, (mainly the water resistance) however I don't see the point for myself, to swap it for a newer model. And yes, the swappable battery is a huge plus...(short story here) Last year I got my phone soaked and wet by a heavy 30min torrential rain...After 1 week, drying it up, it came back to life however a new battery was needed(I got OEM one). New battery, same phone...it's 100% as brand new. Thanks
Hi Ben , depending on your needs the N4 is still doing very well. I like it so much I decided just to keep it after upgrading . I am feeling pretty good with the new battery performance of the N9 and hope Samsung continues to improve on the latest Notes. The game I show is PUBG, you probably heard about it .. I made a video on it while using the N4. I was able to play for a little as the phone starts getting hot after some time .. th-cam.com/video/usF7ggpqJ3E/w-d-xo.html
@@MayitoTek Hi Mario, thanks for replying. Honestly I do feel the N4 still holding up well for everything I need on a daily basis....just 2 things I would like to have, water resistance and wireless charging. It's a pain in the neck to remove the case to charge the phone wirelessly or open case's the port to get access to the usb (I use otterbox defender since I bought the N4, it's pretty much falling apart.) Does the N9 charger wirelessly while on a tough case? Thanks, greetings from Brazil
I ordered the 4 for $120 over the 9 at $800 simply because of battery, currently I have the note 3. The battery and sd slot is simply a must have feature
yep, many people rather keep a Note 4 for similar reasons. Like your fonts, remind me of the fonts we used to have on the screen names back in the days of the chats ( around 2002)
I don't think the card slows down the note 8, though you have to be smart what apps you move to the card. Less used big apps, multimedia, VR games etc are ok. The 64GB got full in no time for me, even half of the 256GB SD is filled up after 8 months of use...
Have both and I love both. The IR blaster definitely needs to return and always be part of the Note line of phones. A big problem with Samsung is addition by subtraction of the features that people really love. Also those Anker batteries are the only ones to use for your Note 4. They are better than the original phone battery. Great points on both phones!
thanks for the feedback ! My Anker battery is still working very good !! Sadly it seems they are discontinued as many people are now not able to find them . I just hope they don't discontinue the audio jack as I am not ready for it !
Thanks for the video. I say Samsung should definitely bring back the IR blaster on the Note 9. I use the IR blaster a lot on my Note 4. I am still getting the Note 8 though along with the Dex Station.
yeah, I know alot of people still use it around the world.. At home I am still able to use the Note 8 to control my tv and Roku through Wifi.. but I know alot of people around the world dont have smart devices and require the IR blaster .. I would suggest test out the Dex Station first before you buy it .. I got one last year and never really used it .. I guess is good if you don't have a computer at home.
yes you can , I am even able t o use the Spen button to open the popup with all the Spen options. I did not do an extensive test , but was able to navigate and write on it .
If I am correct, that was lollipop .. I reuse old footage for Broll as I keep a collection of videos. That was before I upgraded to marshmallow in 2018
Mayito - thanks for still keeping coming out with note 4 videos! One thing i noticed comparing my note 4 to the note 9 (probably the same as the note 8 though), is that when the speaker volume is made higher and higher, the note 4 audio sounds cleaner than the scratchy, muffled note 9 soeaker. I think this is from the waterproofing on the note 9 (and also on the note 8). Do you agree?
Hey Outer, I honestly dont recall , but will have to check that out next time I get the Note 4 out . But it would make sense that because of waterproofing that the sound will not be the same . Thanks for the feedback !!!
Can anyone please explain to me as to why Samsung removed the dedicated Samsung video player app. with the release of the Note 5 & S6 and thereafter ? It is a brilliant app. and is far superior to the video player apps found in the Google play store. I also miss the functionality of old Samsung phones.
I don't know the answer for this one, but by experience of working on an IT company. Maintaining features/apps cost a lot of money over time, if companies don't see the benefit on keeping it as many people may not use them .. they just get rid of them.
Tunghoi Lam I think they did it to save a dollar...just like when the 1st version of any new video game console is released, with the new "updated" models always remove features in order to help lower the cost to make it.
The latest Samsung phones cost $700 - 1000 AUD or more ; for that price, I would expect to see more functionality and apps. Ditching the dedicated video player app. etc does not make sense where cost is concerned.
Is there ANYWHERE that you can buy the Note4 NEW? I need the remoable battery with an OLED screen and no one has even when LG finally got an OLED screen, they went non-removable battery.
I wish the note 8 was wider. I want a bigger screen that the note 4 but it seams all the phones that have a bigger screen are skinny. Is there any that you know of??? I heard about the huwaei honor note 8 but idk if it's good or not
the reason is because the new aspect ration for video ( videos are moving to a wider format and phones are following that trend) . As long as there are no bezels it will be hard to find a phone with the same aspect ratio as the note 4.
Are you using the fast charger on the Note 8? i was using the fast charger on my Note 4 and it killed the battery within 6 months, I now i have a S9 and i don't use a fast charger because I know it will kill the battery faster.
IR is the Infra Red Technology used in the remote controls ( TV controls, AC controls ETC) .. The phones that have the IR can control different devices that are compatible with IR technology. For example you can control your TV or your AC unit with the phone.
Thanks bro, that's very helpful. After I ordered high capacitive battery, double strength, 6832 mah something, I notice my phone get hot, slow, freeze, Pause, turn on ànd off by itself, you think that's the battery problem?
it could be many things . Based on my experience.. If the phone gets very hot it will turn off to prevent the hardware from getting damaged. One of the reasons for a phone to get hot is because the processor us overworked, meaning there are apps over using the processor possibly in the background. As result the processor slows down to prevent the phone from overheating and causing the hardware to get damaged. If the phone restarts randomly , that is a known issue with the N4 as result of bad motherboard. If the battery is faulty , it will cause the phone to get hot , but usually you can tell the battery getting hot and not the phone.
My friend has a note 8,was surprised how heavy it was,is it practical for everyday use, have the note 4,and was thinking of getting the note5 or note 8,but eas disappointed on how heavy it was....
Help my Note 4 SM-N910A is stuck on a bootloop and or it will pop up with the message saying "System software not authorized by AT&T has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest AT&T store for help". They only help they offered was to buy a new phone and I don't want a new one. It started having problems after the last update 2-3 months ago 😭😤 please help!!🙌🙌
Watching this with my note 4. Its still better than note 8. If you would like the note 8 experience just root your phone and port custom rom. Anyways im just using stocked rom. Still better than rooting its fast.
I've been thinking about buying the new Note, but then yesterday I dropped my Note 4 on a hard floor and it didn't even get a scratch. I was again reminded how lucky I was that it wasn't made of glass. Apart from some new features, which I'm not even sure I need, I still can't find other reasons to upgrade, to be honest. Maybe I'll wait till next year.
I agree with you , haven't had a case in my note 4 for a while.. also dropped it a few times with no issues.. with the newer notes, you will just get used to having a good case that will meet your needs.
Samsung used to have many great features when they sell their units but they remove it day by day. Smart scroll, tilt to scroll and etc. They not only remove it but they also not implement it anymore and the only feature I see they still putting on the phone now is "smart stay" which sometimes doesn't work I mean not perfectly and that feature was many years ago without any improvement. Edit: so far I want to know if Note 8 long term use will get slow as Note 4 in the long term as well (in term of speed) thanks.
yep, I know what you mean . You are not alone, many people have mention the same about features that they used to get on the N4 and no longer are available on the latest notes
MayitoTek just had to let you know... my note 4 DIDN'T MAKE it until the 9 came out. It kept re-booting itself every 10 minutes... on the note 8 now. No front firing speakers for me. Damn it! LOL! A slight learning curve with the "settings menu" changes but a great phone overall. Have a good day man!
Hi I got my phone a couple of months ago. Been trying to use the camera I have to wait a long time until I see a clear picture. Do you know how to fix this problem?
sound like you have an issue with the auto focus. make sure the lens is clean and tab the subject in the screen that you want to focus on .. if that doesnt help , you may have an issue with the lens...let me know if that helped
Thanks. Yeah I cleaned the lens and and tapped on the face and I have to wait at least a couple of minutes for me to get a clear Focus. Someone suggested to hit the phone on the side a couple of times but that didn't work either.
yeah, I had that issue with my first note 4.. the lens was defective.. it would take pics but if I was trying to take a a pic of something close where it needed to focus it would look bad
What I miss the most is that the flashlight stays on, if I start the camera app. The cam app on the 8 always shuts it off. Also there is no flashlight toggle widget on the 8.
The latest version supported by Samsung is the 6.1.# Marshmallow. Many people have mentioned they installed custom ROMS with latest OS after rooting their device
MayitoTek Oh seems like I'm the only one living in the older world. I love Android version 4 mainly bacause it has black theme. White is too bright for my eye sight even when I reduce screen brightness esp. when using phone in the night time. Features that comes with latest android version r brilliant but I would hardly use some of them. For that reason I still use S4 over S5 that I have.
Honestly speaking, it's hard to decide which phone these days would be a good replacement for Samsubg Note 4. I still have my S.Note 4. I lost my Note4 last July 2018 but instead of buying the lastest model, I still looked for someone selling his Note 4. Luckily, I found someone selling his in Facebook Market. SAMSUNG NOTE 4 CAN STILL COMPETE WITH TODAY'S LATEST MODELS.
that note 4 is def a classic, it would be nice if Samsung brings back the same form factor of the note 4 with the latest updates. I am finding a hard time letting go of mine even after upgrading to the latest Notes
Well, i dont use the IR Blaster so i dont mind if they took it away but i wish they have stereo speakers in all thier models. However, i hope they improve more on the phone edges/sides for phone removable model. Reason is they got peeled/scratched when they got took out with phone with snug cases/armor.
yep, that is one thing I am away afraid as I swap cases. Making sure the phone doesn't get scratch . But the glass is pretty resistant and should not get scratch with the plastic material from the cases. Did you get your N4 already ? Wondering how is doing
@@MayitoTek yes i did! Its preloved unfortunately but internal is doing great. However i realised it has a screen burn in. Kinda letdown actually and really bothering as its quite obvious on white background. Any way to remove it? And will changing screen solve the problem?
Nothing has tempted me to give up my Note 4 - I need the IR blaster for old audio equipment and hotel room TVs (where they are missing). Mines upgraded with a 128 ext RAM and for battery changeability its great. Not a real gamer so performance is still great for me. Aluminium edging feels great quality plus if you break an edge screen you will pay a lot of money to replace it.
N4 is a classic!! I am not letting go of mine, sadly after using the N8 & N9, is becomming harder to get used to the performance of the N4. Many apps are now causing mine N4 to slow down and crash sometimes.. But this is one of the best phones of all time in my opinion.
two very diff phones, matter of what is more important for you . Link below will show both phones side by side so you can see the diff and decide which one had the best features that matter for you www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=6849&idPhone2=6434
Next battery you get should be by sporting persistence. They make a slim model with larger capacity. Best investment since having my Note 4. Lasts over a day standby and 12-14 hours with constant usage.
I use the IR transmitter on my Note 4 a lot and I wish the phones still came with it. I have yet to give up my Note 4 maybe I will when the S10 comes around.
I don't miss the IR blaster and never use the stylus. I just love the phone for the large/bright/vibrant display, spare battery swap, camera, charge speed and longevity, fast CPU, world baseband support, robustness.
Just ordered the Note 9, the Note 4 had a good run but I did need a upgrade cause I was running out of space. I will miss the removable battery though.
luckily the N9 is doing better when it comes to battery .. I am still getting atleast 24 hrs of battery life on the N8 . Something that the N8 was lacking and kept getting worst over time
I much prefer the flat display for s pen use. It's annoying trying to the pen at the edges of the screen. And the battery is definitely a concern if you plan of keeping the phone for more than a year. As for the s pen itself. The body of the note 4 with the tip of the note 8 would be an almost perfect combo. Now if the pen is a little longer....
Conclusion to this video: stay with a 16:9 phone. Personally I prefer a 16:9 phone than a 18:9 (or 18.5:9 on the note 8, which I have right now) because is pointless in 95% of the regular cases that I watch content on the internet. Games and multitasking no problem by adapting at this new ratio, but everything else, including to browse in landscape is worse than 16:9. Keep with 16:9 for 2 or more years. And microSD doesn't slow down your phone, but I don't recommend to pass aplications and games to the microSD card because will slow your loading time.
The stylus from the note 5 & 8 work very well with the note 4. I use the nicer note 5 pen with my note 4 with a small piece of gaffers tape wrapped around it to keep it tight in the slot.
MayitoTek yea tht works great. But point is that why samsung removed ir? Was it a big issue to later phones was it bulky or sm other reason or was it cuz of the smart devices evolving?
I think they probably are trying to cut down on cust and make the phone slimmer.. I wish they would just make better batteries.. i read somewhere that the Note 9 is supposed to get us through two days in a single charge... that would be nice if is true
MayitoTek yea cuz phones have evolved many generations but the batteries havent. It would be great if samsung brings in advanced batteries may be next year in 10 series.
Great video. I think you should do a part 2 this time with the 4 turned all the way up. I was a little wtf when it wasn't but l get why. I think if the 4 was all the way up people still may complain . But a, second part would keep both sides happy
No kidding!! A fee people have mentioned the same!! It will be cool if Samsung makes a special classic edition of the Note 4 with the latest specs but keeping what made the note 4 classic
yes, that is a known issue. My first note 4 had that problem . One day it just never came back on . Make sure you don't keep in it any pictures or important files which you may not be able to retrieve one day
thats a good one !!!! The note 4 is a classic for sure , is the one that started it for me. Since I am power user, sadly the note 4 is not keeping up with all the activities I perform on the phone. Overall is still holding up pretty good
@@MayitoTek i agree with everything in your video with your analysis of the two phones. the note 8 is a good phone but its not worth the price difference and loss of battery for a slightly better camera and water resistance. keep up the great work and videos! there is a cult of Note 4 fans that know how good this phone still is!
I will be getting note 8 this year. I have my note 4 for 5 years now and it will be a huge upgrade for me this year in 2019. I am pretty excited to get the note 8. Also I will get the case for it after I get my note 8. 😃
@spaghetti monster Thanks for the advice. Glad that you pointed out about the Note 8 Battery. I might try to see if it's gets cheaper for the Note 9 this year on Amazon which I am pretty sure it will. If it doesn't get cheaper, then I will most likely get the Note 8 this year and I'll have to see if the Note 8 Battery gets bad overtime. I am saving my money for one of the Note phones because I am currently looking for a new Samsung Galaxy Note Phones.
you def will need a case, wont be as resistant as the Note 4. I think you will love it !! If you have a little extra cash go for the Note 9. Once the Note 10 comes out , the note 9 will drop more on price. Will give you a better camera and a better battery
MayitoTek Thanks MayitoTek for that. I am stick with buying the Note 8 because I like the new features on it as well as the new S Pen features. Plus the price for the Note 8 is going down for a pretty good price on Amazon. Definitely going to get the case for the Note 8 as well because if you touch the note 8 then you will immediately get finger prints all over the phone. 🙂
MayitoTek My note 3 is my daily driver as well. For me it seems to run better than my note edge and my previously owned note 4. Although my nor 4 ran better than my note edge, for some reason the edge screen always crashes.
let me know how that goes.. I think they are going for around $200 - $300 here in my area. I got a used one a few months ago, tried to replace the battery and broke the back cover.. Luckily I found a decent/cheap back cover on amazon.
MayitoTek yeah, one guy in offline stores said he will give me one at around 160- 180$ And note 4 at around 100$ so i just wanted to ask about camera because i didnt wanted one without manual settings. I rather use pro more than auto but my current phone (j7 max) doesnt have anything except iso😂
I agree, the Note 5 was a big disappointment by removing many features including the removable battery . What made it worst on the note 5 was that they didn't even made the phone water resistant, which is one of the main reasons companies moved to non-removable batteries in my opinion.
Yep!! I feel the Note 4 is more resistant to drops so I feel more confident not having a case.. but the Note 8 is like walking around with a glass jar..
I switched from the Note 4 to an LG V20. Haven't looked back. Still has removable battery, expandable storage, headphone jack and IR blaster. LCD screen isn't that big of a downgrade on the LG. Better camera and widescreen lens is nice. DAC is game changer. Don't miss pen. Price is Right.
The V20 was the last flagship phone to have a removable battery. Mine has screen ghosting, but that is nothing to burn in on AMOLED screens. Same 16:9 aspect ratio as Note 4. Can find for sub $200. Second screen is useful. The quick cover for sub $10 is sweet too! Nova Launcher makes it greaaat!
Note 4 phone had alot of issues with the hardware going bad.. many refurbished phones come with that problem to the new owners.. Many people have mentioned that to me after getting a refurbishes Note 4.. I have owned multiple Note 4s and one of them had that issue
I still have the n NOTE3 as my 2. Phone It was my work phone. It dropped a million times! It was full of dust and sweat! Since release all it needed was 1 new Batterie😊 if my note8 drops once... its done 100%
Hi ! I did a similar comparison with the Note 9 and note 4. Something is not right , the note 4 takes some awesome pis and video in the right light scenario, but it should not be better compare to the Note 8 . I did noticed that it takes time getting used to taking pics on the newer devices, you need to make sure the item you are trying to take a pic is actually focused and not something else. A dirty lens may also cause pics to not be perfect
@@MayitoTek I have Note 5 ... and i am not going to change ... 32 GB is one that is on that phone - But a have 1 Tera on One drive ... Note 5 has one of the best Camera in history of Samsung ...
Congratulations! I Also have gone from a Note 4 to a Note 8. (Gift). I love it. The only thing is the nonremovable battery. Don't know in time how will it perform o last. But other then that I love my Note 8. Of course my Note 4 was and still is a great, great phone.
I agree!! Now I find myself charging minimum twice a day as the battery is not holding up the charge as it did new ( which is usual).. sadly I cant just order a new battery and swap it as I always did with the Note 4.
Am I the only one that misses the removable battery? I also feel that the Spen from the Note 4 is easier to use while taking notes.. 🙂
Although removing the battery is handy, the battery on my S8+ is sooooo good simply because of smarter technology of optimizing how to conserve energy and better battery altogether
That's what has kept me from making the switch for so long...but my NOTE 4 is getting super slow so I just bought a NOTE 8.
The removable battery is a must for certain conditions, it's a shame that they consider it obsolete.
That is why I am not letting go of my Note 4!
...just made the transition myself, it's tough, still keeping my Note 4 at my desk on WiFi, but my Messages and other apps were failing, freezing, and becoming frustrating.
Honestly believe it's AT&T using 'updates' to slowly kill older phones and leverage sales.
I used the note edge variant and found the additional edge to be truly useful and just got a note 8 today. I am on the fence, I will need more time to know.
The best is the note edge the daddy of all galaxy s!
I use the IR blaster and switch batteries all the time.
you are not alone, I think you are like the fifth person to suggest that .. Maybe Samsung will come up with a classic edition ..
The Note 4 is still a nice phone to have around, even in 2018. I love mine.
It sure is!! That is why I still kept mine around after upgrading . 🙂.. Do you have any phone in mind for your next phone in the future?
Finally, someone did a comparison I've waited for a year
iARTEMKAi wow for sure waiting
thanks man !! Hope I didn't disappoint!
Currently watching on a Note 4
very nice!!! any idea of your next upgrade ?
MayitoTek S7 Edge
if you can I will highly recommend the S8/S8+ if you find it within your budget .. Unless you find a killer deal on the S7 Edge
Note 4 is still the best Note made by Samsung imo.
yep!! Many people will agree with that aswell!
Custom ROMs
I still can't find any reason to change my Note 4 to 8, as there is only downgrade in the features I mostly care about. However, if my Note 4 went wrong, I would have to buy the 8 as there is no other new phone on the market with similar specs.
This is def true
lets wait and see what Note 9 will bring .. hopefully it will be announced late July .. will see
Sony Xperia Note may be a good alternative if it comes true.
upload077 I would suggest you go and get the note 8 from Best Buy for about 5 days and play with it. I believe you'll love it and not go back to the note 4.
I still have my Note 4 as well. I don't like the new aspect ratio of the new phones, long and skinny doesn't look great.
I still love my note 4, no need to upgrade
I hear you !!
I still have mine and it works great.
My Note 4 gaves problems in star up it says Android optimization and charging is slow
Agreed. I have no need to upgrade.
Great comparison man.. there's still a lot of pluses for the Note 4.
The swap able battery is a definite plus!
Eevnos that seems to be the consensus
thanks Steve!!!
Good luck finding an original, not fake OEM Samsung battery. Please prove me wrong.
Here in the Philippines, Samsung official stores sell Note 4 replacement batteries and extra battery kits..
I wish the option to swap battery was an option ..even though I understand about weather proofing. Nice look at both
Keyser Reveal I feel the same way about the s9. But the battery is pretty ok
maybe one day we will get both
how was the S7 edge battery holding up after a few years? The note 5 I got is very bad.. I need to pay to get a new battery installed
MayitoTek we did with the Galaxy S5...
Keyser Reveal the reason they don't have replacable batteries is so you buy a new phone. It's all about money
Vernon Warren ok, thanks for your 1st hand experience answer. I will keep that in mind.
David Prodigy I understand how you feel but you would love the note 8. Its definitely worth the upgrade. Trust me.
note 4 = can remove battery, can drop will run hot but still works. note 8 = can not remove battery, drop and will shatter. try change battery = forget about it. will result in damage, every time. note 4 was the best ever. I've gone back from an S7 edge to the note 4. note 8 is not water anything. the mic. and speaker will stop working if meets water. Samsung go back to note 4 design and remaster it. glass is pretty, but is not durable in any way. one drop and it's all over. if it needs to be rapped in rubber then it should come with it for the price they are asking.
you make very good points . Thanks!!
If you run the note 4 on marshmallow it doesn't really over heat that much compared to when it was on lollipop
What are you talking about? Note8 is IP68 water and dust resistant. Nothing stops working if it meets water. If you had experience like that then you probably got bamboozled with chinese clone or something.
They're making them out of glass on purpose so people inevitably drop, break and buy another one.
Cheap wireless charger DIY mod kit available on eBay; swappable battery make product life last for many years; more environmental friendly!
that is why I am still keeping it as my main backup phone. Thanks for sharing !!
Still sticking with my Note 4. After a much needed battery change I rarely have to charge it a second time during the day. The darn thing still works too darn well to justify replacing.
I agree and many people have mentioned the same! That is why I am still keeping the Note 4 as a backup phone.

I also using note 4 for 3 years now planning to buy Note 9 and keep note 4
what brand did you get for the replacement battery? i needed a new battery for my note 4. I had bought one that claimed to be authentic OEM Samsung battery, but it barely even lasts 8 hours with screen brightness all rhe way down and minimal use.
The note 4 is better overall. It's the best phone ever made and it's only a fraction of the price of the newer phones
you do make a good point about the price and one of the best phones ever made
Take into account price and I have to agree.

Interesting!! Seems you were lucky, but they sure are not water resistant😉
Great video man. That's so true about the Note 4 cam. When in well lit environments it takes really good pictures.
Malik Williams light is definitely the key
exactly !! Thanks!!
I agree!
Here, in Brasil, the N4 is octacore with 32 and 64 bits at same time. Sic
Use a high end SD card such as what you would use in a SLR, GoPro, or decent drone. Use low end and get slow downs or lock ups.
Recommend any personal favourite and most stable rom ?
quad core? The note 4 sm 910c is octa core, 64 bits and 3gb RAM. You have to buy a good SD Card to avoid the speed drop. I have Samsung EvoPlus of 128gb.
Till this day, I refuse to sell my note 4.
lol i'm buying another battery for it again. I'm using an android pie ROM too - and most things work fine with it.
Bring back the IR Blaster Samsung!!!!!!!
👍
I was bought external ir blaster for s8..I had note 4 and missed him!
Ive been using my note 4
for 3 years now.i love that i can change the battery on the note 4
But...ill probably buy the note 9.
I usually get a new battery for the Note 4 every year
MayitoTek i agree..battery makes big difference..thats why im still
Loving my note 4.
Hey Mario, what is that game you showed in this video?(At 5:54)
I have a note4 since 2014, it still working flawlessly since I bought it.
I see benefits about the new technologies they put into the newer note models, (mainly the water resistance) however I don't see the point for myself, to swap it for a newer model.
And yes, the swappable battery is a huge plus...(short story here)
Last year I got my phone soaked and wet by a heavy 30min torrential rain...After 1 week, drying it up, it came back to life however a new battery was needed(I got OEM one).

@@MayitoTek Hi Mario, thanks for replying. Honestly I do feel the N4 still holding up well for everything I need on a daily basis....just 2 things I would like to have, water resistance and wireless charging.
It's a pain in the neck to remove the case to charge the phone wirelessly or open case's the port to get access to the usb (I use otterbox defender since I bought the N4, it's pretty much falling apart.)
Does the N9 charger wirelessly while on a tough case?
Thanks, greetings from Brazil
Everyone talking about sustainability... Note 4 Users in 2019 live it.
Gergo Viczian I have a 256 card in my s9 and have had the same one for s7 s8.
thanks for sharing Gergo, in the past I had performance issues using the SD cards. I will def have to look at it from a diff perspective!
Dominic Krau I just ordered the dex for my s9 review out soon
yeah, I know alot of people still use it around the world.. At home I am still able to use the Note 8 to control my tv and Roku through Wifi.. but I know alot of people around the world dont have smart devices and require the IR blaster ..
I would suggest test out the Dex Station first before you buy it .. I got one last year and never really used it .. I guess is good if you don't have a computer at home.
you want to collab Planet ?? your dex and my dex?
Can you use the Note 8 spen on the Note 4?
yes you can , I am even able t o use the Spen button to open the popup with all the Spen options. I did not do an extensive test , but was able to navigate and write on it .
Is that Kitkat 4.4.4 on 1:27?
If I am correct, that was lollipop .. I reuse old footage for Broll as I keep a collection of videos. That was before I upgraded to marshmallow in 2018
@@MayitoTek I have read reports that Note 4 works better on Kitkat and gives much better battery life.Is that true?
You can install it through galaxy apps
I cannot find the video player on the galaxy apps store. Did samsung ditch it ?
Is there ANYWHERE that you can buy the Note4 NEW? I need the remoable battery with an OLED screen and no one has even when LG finally got an OLED screen, they went non-removable battery.
Sadly I dont think you can buy them new. If there are any other, they will be collectors item
Are you using the fast charger on the Note 8? i was using the fast charger on my Note 4 and it killed the battery within 6 months, I now i have a S9 and i don't use a fast charger because I know it will kill the battery faster.
honestly, I never put much thought to that .. I have the chargers for the Note 4, Note 7 and Note 8 around..
good info, thanks for sharing !
Looking for the points on how to speed up the Note 4.
I made a video a few months ago , is in my channel.

what is ir blastet?
My friend has a note 8,was surprised how heavy it was,is it practical for everyday use, have the note 4,and was thinking of getting the note5 or note 8,but eas disappointed on how heavy it was....
yep, is a little bigger and has the glass panel which adds some weight , I think you will like it
Ok thank you!!!
I'm still using my note 4 love it but it does get hot, that is the only reason I would up grade, not sure what phone I want next.
S8+ is coming down in price. But if you want to stay with the Note series.. Note 8 will go down in price once Note 9 gets released..

Could the software update on the note4
Watching this with my note 4. Its still better than note 8. If you would like the note 8 experience just root your phone and port custom rom. Anyways im just using stocked rom. Still better than rooting its fast.
good to hear that you are able to install the latest custom ROM on the note 4. I cant do that on the model I have for the note 4
MayitoTek yeah I've tried that before. But i returned it to stocked rom and unroot. I just removed bloatwares. Note 4 still killing it! :)
very nice!!
Awesomeness!!

thanks man!!
Note 8 is definitely sweet. Nice comparison vid.

Also there is no flashlight toggle widget on the 8.
you are right ! didn't noticed that before! many years ago when I wanted to use the flashlight , I used to turn on the camera on the Note 4..
what version of android does Note 4 have?
The latest version supported by Samsung is the 6.1.# Marshmallow. Many people have mentioned they installed custom ROMS with latest OS after rooting their device
MayitoTek Oh seems like I'm the only one living in the older world. I love Android version 4 mainly bacause it has black theme. White is too bright for my eye sight even when I reduce screen brightness esp. when using phone in the night time. Features that comes with latest android version r brilliant but I would hardly use some of them. For that reason I still use S4 over S5 that I have.
interesting !! I think once you try one of the latest Samsung phones you will fall in love with them !!!🙂
please me tell about Korean version Note 4
I am a Mexican living in the US.. not sure about the Korean version 🙈
Should I buy Galaxy note 4 or Galaxy s6 in my country they are in the same price ,and I can't afford a Note 9 or Note 8 please help?!!!
two very diff phones, matter of what is more important for you . Link below will show both phones side by side so you can see the diff and decide which one had the best features that matter for you
www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=6849&idPhone2=6434
@@MayitoTek Thanks bro
Samsung would sell a heap of retro remakes of the note4, probably without cannibalizing the flagship market
same concept , faster speeds and a decent price point 🙂
Next battery you get should be by sporting persistence. They make a slim model with larger capacity. Best investment since having my Note 4. Lasts over a day standby and 12-14 hours with constant usage.
Hi David!! Thanks for sharing !! Def will be checking it out !! I get people asking me all the time about what battery to get now days.
I use the IR transmitter on my Note 4 a lot and I wish the phones still came with it. I have yet to give up my Note 4 maybe I will when the S10 comes around.
oh man !! I dont know if you can give up the stylus pen.. I tried the S8+ for some time .. but just had to go to the Note 8 ..
MayitoTek that's what I'm worried about lol. It's like that 80s song you don't know what you've got til it's gone lol
I also really love my 16:9 aspect ratio. It's perfect for watching videos.
yep!!😬👍
Fantastic Review. Still using N 4 .
Replaceable battery, and smaller form factor.
thanks!!!
I don't miss the IR blaster and never use the stylus. I just love the phone for the large/bright/vibrant display, spare battery swap, camera, charge speed and longevity, fast CPU, world baseband support, robustness.
good feedback !!!
Just ordered the Note 9, the Note 4 had a good run but I did need a upgrade cause I was running out of space. I will miss the removable battery though.
luckily the N9 is doing better when it comes to battery .. I am still getting atleast 24 hrs of battery life on the N8 . Something that the N8 was lacking and kept getting worst over time
Make a video about note 4 with a custom rom vs note 8 .
I tried to root my N4, but sadly this particular model I have is locked and does not allow the phone to be rooted ( ATT Carrier model )😐
MayitoTek very sad really ... wish you the best
Now if the pen is a little longer....
def edge screen gets on the way while using the Spen!.. I broke the glass back panel on my note 5 yesterday trying to replace the battery 😟
IR blaster is why I am still using Note 4!! The best feature I use everyday!! The only reason I would upgrade is for the camera and the waterproofing
Yep!
Andrei Dobre I'll take the new ratio. I love it. Especially on my note 8. The video experience is awesome!
thanks for sharing Andrei, several people have mentioned that they don't have issue using the microSD card or noticing any performance.
The stylus from the note 5 & 8 work very well with the note 4. I use the nicer note 5 pen with my note 4 with a small piece of gaffers tape wrapped around it to keep it tight in the slot.
good to know!! Thanks for sharing !!
All Note S-Pens are cross-compatible. You can use Note 1 S-Pen with a Note 8 and vice versa.
good info , I haven't tried that yet
MayitoTek you should try, it's pretty cool.
I currently have the n4 n5 and n8.. will be testing that out
I also kept the spen from the n7 🙄
@@MayitoTek so you can use note 8 pen on note 4?
I have no idea why samsung removed IR blaster. Hell man i expect it every year with new note release. That backs me off from replacement
many people agree with you .. Luckily I have smart devices at home and I am still able to control them through the apps which connect using wifii
I plan on doing a note 4 vs note 9 soon .. will keep that in mind.. Thank!!!
Upgrading from note 4 to note 8.
Imagine the power of the Note 8 on the Note 4 as it is. Dream phone.
No kidding!! A fee people have mentioned the same!! It will be cool if Samsung makes a special classic edition of the Note 4 with the latest specs but keeping what made the note 4 classic
I love my Note 4 but sick and tired of the constant rebooting on its own. Apparently thats an issue with the Note 4
yes, that is a known issue. My first note 4 had that problem . One day it just never came back on . Make sure you don't keep in it any pictures or important files which you may not be able to retrieve one day
AMEN! OMG this drives me mad!
hi, note 8 is heard louder than note 4?
is a little louder but dont expect much improvement . It still only has one speaker on the bottom
It is already 2020 and 21 is coming...I still have my note 4.. I do really love note 4.
i was religious user of the Note 4. i was given a free Note 8 from my provider. i hated and sold it. i went to craigslist and bought another Note 4.
thats a good one !!!!
Nice review. I didn't know anker made batteries for cellphones. Cool
Thank you !! I was just aware after some of my viewers recommended it
I still have my note 4. I think its a complete phone. Ir blaster, swappable batteries, s pen. I just love it!!
you know it !
One time I made an ocean rescue with my s7 in my pocket. Held up in salt water
I wonder if is Shark Proof!! 🐟
No ir blaster, no removable battery, unable to root on Verizon. I have both a rooted note 3 and a rooted note 4 edge and have zero desire to upgrade.
I want to get my hands on the Note 3.. Hope to get it soon
MayitoTek My note 3 is my daily driver as well. For me it seems to run better than my note edge and my previously owned note 4. Although my nor 4 ran better than my note edge, for some reason the edge screen always crashes.
Can you please check if note 4 has full manual controls? Use manual compatibility or camera2probe app from play store. Shutter speed is imp for me😅
It does not , checked the downloadable modes in samsung store and there aren't any for manual.
MayitoTek okk thanks! I'll get note 5 then coz it has manual controls. I just wanted a cheaper note but note 5 can do the trick! Thanks man!😄
let me know how that goes.. I think they are going for around $200 - $300 here in my area. I got a used one a few months ago, tried to replace the battery and broke the back cover.. Luckily I found a decent/cheap back cover on amazon.
MayitoTek yeah, one guy in offline stores said he will give me one at around 160- 180$
And note 4 at around 100$ so i just wanted to ask about camera because i didnt wanted one without manual settings. I rather use pro more than auto but my current phone (j7 max) doesnt have anything except iso😂
I see!! yeah, I think you are better off with the Note 5 👍
I felt betrayed when Samsung removed the removable battery from Note 5. Still use Note 4 in 2018 and love it.
I agree, the Note 5 was a big disappointment by removing many features including the removable battery . What made it worst on the note 5 was that they didn't even made the phone water resistant, which is one of the main reasons companies moved to non-removable batteries in my opinion.
Hi I'm saving up for a note 22 when it ever comes out but I'm using a note 4
What a coincidence. I had both. Liked the 4, like the 8. The 4 was wider and I liked it. Cannot use either phone without a case.
Yep!! I feel the Note 4 is more resistant to drops so I feel more confident not having a case.. but the Note 8 is like walking around with a glass jar..
I have lg v20 and I always use RF blaster on my lunch breaks
i am sure that is pretty convenient!
My wife has the Note 4 and I won't be replacing it until she complains about something. And there is nothing to complain about.
iI she complains about the battery performance ,you can pick one up from amazon for about $15 👍😬
I switched from the Note 4 to an LG V20. Haven't looked back. Still has removable battery, expandable storage, headphone jack and IR blaster. LCD screen isn't that big of a downgrade on the LG. Better camera and widescreen lens is nice. DAC is game changer. Don't miss pen. Price is Right.
nice!!! Thanks for sharing your experience!! I know LG V20 is also a good phone based on some of the comments I got before!!
I see!!
Dude we don't give a fuck
Loved the note 4. It died after 3 years. Replaced it with a refurb. Lasted 2 weeks. The old phones cannot handle the updates. Updates kill them.
Note 4 phone had alot of issues with the hardware going bad.. many refurbished phones come with that problem to the new owners.. Many people have mentioned that to me after getting a refurbishes Note 4.. I have owned multiple Note 4s and one of them had that issue
It's not the updates. My note 4 takes them just fine. Most likely, the refurbs were previously damaged.
I still have the n
NOTE3 as my 2. Phone
It was my work phone.
It dropped a million times!
It was full of dust and sweat!
Since release all it needed was 1 new Batterie😊
if my note8 drops once...
its done 100%
You are right!! Need to get my hands on the Note 3
I compare NOte 4 and Note 8 making photos and Note 4 has more and more details .. How is it possible..??? NOTE 4 has better photos.. It was indoor ...
2018 > Bring Back the IR Blaster
2020 > Bring Back the Headphone Jack
Congratulations! I Also have gone from a Note 4 to a Note 8. (Gift). I love it. The only thing is the nonremovable battery. Don't know in time how will it perform o last. But other then that I love my Note 8. Of course my Note 4 was and still is a great, great phone.
I agree!! Now I find myself charging minimum twice a day as the battery is not holding up the charge as it did new ( which is usual).. sadly I cant just order a new battery and swap it as I always did with the Note 4.
Bought this phone 2 months ago for 180$. Overall it's awesome. Coolest phone I've ever had.
The note 4?? It is one of the best phones of all time for me
Merci pour le reste de vidéos
Merci, mon ami! Saludos !
