Hey everyone, just wanted to address something regarding Allister's entry! I am aware that Curse works differently on Cursola. In all honesty, from doing different videos that talk about curse and the different effects it has on ghost types just slipped my mind because of how often I was talking about how it works on non-ghost type Pokemon. That's my bad for sure! However, I still do not believe the order of things changes at all even with the correct effect taken into consideration!
One of the biggest examples of “Early gym leader aren’t always the weakest” is Whitney being stronger than freaking Pryce. (In my experience at least.)
For me beating her was tougher than Claire.I remember it took hours on my first Pokémon gold run (my first Pokémon game ever) and I didn't know fighting type moves countered miltank.Good days xd
Whitney depends a lot on your team. I'm playing Crystal for the first time right now and I had no trouble with Miltank because I used Fury Cutter, but I've gotten destroyed twice already by Morty's Gengar.
To be fair, even with the change, it doesn't boost hex because it only gets boosted by status effects that continue even if switched, so it's still kind of useless with hex on everything.
@@mismismism Oh no I know it doesn't help hex, still more useful than boost it's strength and defense lowering the speed though. Used on the right pokemon it does some solid damage.
If Nessa's Goldeen had had Lighting Rod as an ability it would have been a much better challenge, especially in the Champion Cup. And Piers not having a Dynamax doesn't affect his battle since you can't Dynamax either.
How about doing a Ranking of the Gym Leader Rematches among the various games, using things like the PWT, Saffron Dojo Rematches in HGSS, Battle Grounds Rematches in DPP, Wyndon Rematches, etc.
Did he forget that curse does something different on ghost types? When he talks about Cursola having curse he said that all it does is buff two of its weaker stats but it wont do that cause hes ghost type. Instead it will cut down Cursolas health and deal damage at the end of each turn to your pokemon.
Yeah that stupid quiz questionnaire can ruin your plan horribly, especially since on your first try you think you've guessed right, and then she says, "Oh, I don't like your answer, so I'll just take off some sp defense from your pokemon." She one shot one of my pokemon cause I answered 88 years instead of 16 and then lowered my sp def. I HATED her gym battle.
No Allister is the hardest. I've always had to win by using revives and potions because his Pokemon always hit way too hard for my frail teams. His Cursola somehow absolutely DEMOLISHED me on my second attemp, and I used a Linoone (it was only level 33).
For me Kabu was the hardest. Most of my team at that time was still either not fully evolved or in their first stage (Drizzile, Dottler, Corvisquire, Galarian Meowth, Toxel, and Silicobra). I had to pop two revives to win that battle. My little sister had trouble with Kabu too, winning by just 7 HP on her Boltund only because Centiscorch went for coil instead of ending the fight; she also got demolished by Alister 3 times before finally beating him (mostly because of Cursola and Gengar).
Uhh, wouldn't Cursola's curse be the version that cuts it's HP to inflict damage over time? I'm not saying that would change his placement or anything, but I'm pretty sure that's what happens with Ghost types.
Melony wasn’t a hard fight for me but I LOVE the ice types of this gen so much. Her team is just fascinating. valid question Am i the only one who found Raihan easy as hell? Maybe its just cause im a seasoned double battler but he just felt so easy to take down
I think you forgot about the fact that Opal has questions... and if you are careless and accidentally click the wrong answer (like the kids are fighting and while you yell at them, you click wrong), you can have your stats lowered... I mean, none of the leaders are actually tough... except maybe Raihan (but that's cause before him, you don't really have a double battle... so he throws you off; and it's still not that bad).

As someone completing a no-items-in-battle blind Sword Nuzlocke, the most difficult gym leaders were Nessa (If you don’t start with Grookey), Bea, and Raihan. Nessa is rough because without Grass coverage Dreddnaw will punch holes in your team... And in a Nuzlocke it’s easy to reach her without a single Grass Pokemon. There’s Magical Leaf from Milo as a coverage move, but very few Pokémon learn it. Bea is the first gym leader with a fully evolved team that packs coverage moves for her counter types (Kabu just dies if you bring a Water or Rock type, and you’re likely to have one or the other by that point with two caves and tons of fishing spots). Machamp also hits so hard that even resisted attacks can 2-hit KO. Raihan goes without saying. Double battles are hell for Nuzlockes, and Raihan actually has a synergistic team that covers his weaknesses. Honorable mention to Opal; I had an easy time with her, but Steel and Poison coverage are rare.
Hey! I had a hard time with Alister as I feel from experience that he's way harder than Bea. When I went up against Bea I had an issue with g-max machamp.
2:50 Bea's team took me SIX TRIES because of that dang Pangoro. It didn't help that I only had one Fighting resist, but even that (Corvisquire) took big damage from a boosted Circle Throw. I do see how she could be dealt with, though.
This set of the gym leaders is not to my expectations. Don't get me wrong I like the story but I mowed down Shield in a sweep. The toughest one to me was Alistair.
@@Youtubnium His Flygon's breaking swipe lowered my attack down so that it took 5 hits to bring down Sandaconda. And breaking swipe hits both pokemon on your side. Only problem is he doesn't use any pokemon with sand force or sand rush. That'd really be annoying.
The challenge of opal depends on if you get the questions right or wrong. If you get wrong, it can be difficult and annoying, but if you get them right, it’s really easy as it just gives you free boosts in stats.
I think Kabu is the hardest cause I always struggle against him. I almost lost to him in my first play through of sword and also shield. But I didn't pick sobble though.
Did everyone here prepare for the gyms? I had rillaboom Corviknight boltund ->Toxtricity phantump->Grimmsnarl Gastrodon and nothing until Mr.Rime. Anyone else just wing it with whatever you found?
I disagree. I do believe there’s a little more to it than that. For example, if you want to play at your most optimal against Gordie, you may be switching around a lot. When I played through my Sword Nuzlocke, I was switching around a lot. I used my Inteleon against much of his team, but I had to switch to my Diggersby to take down his Coalossal, mainly out of fear of Steam Engine.
I think Madame Opal was harder than you gave her credit for. You didn't even mention her incredibly cheap gimmick, her quizzes. By the time you fight her, even if you get a answer right, she'll still decrease one of your pokemon's stats. Making it more difficult. But I guess that can be mended by switching out your Pokemon.
Bea and Kabu were the only hard ones for me. Bea actually beat me the first time. My waaay overleveled applin swept Gordie and my excadrill, named Toph, knew high horsepower and poison jab. He beat the crap out of Opal, (and Olleana and Rose) and OHKOd dureladon after tanking a max knuckle. Applin wiped flygon, gigalith, and sandaconda.
it pisses me off when they give leaders 3 moves instead of 4. like they could have just put will o wisp thunder wave or literally anything for the ghost leader instead of making it blank
People think opal is the hardest gym leader because of her unfair quizzes if you get the questions wrong (you will almost definitely get them wrong unless someone tells you) For me the hardest gym leaders were melony and allister The easiest were Milo (obviously) and Raihan
Not true on my first playthrough the only ones I got wrong was the age and color. And all you have to do is just switch out so I don’t see the problem.
I feel the same way. I nuzlocked it and honestly didn’t have a problem with any gym leaders at all. It’s weird to see people saying they lost to some gym leaders
A lot of these are really weirdly placed, like the first 2 and Raihan are placed right, but a lot of these are just mixed around. Like top to last it would be: Raihan, Opal, Kabu, Pierce, Bea, Melony, Alistar, Gordy, Nessa, and Milo. This is with Grass monke, Dreadnaw, Claydoll, Centiskorch (Gigantimax), Haxorus, and Toxicroak
Now you have to do like a Top 8 of the best gym leaders overall, or maybe rank them all? Definitely looking forward to the climax of this series of videos
Milo was actually the only Gym Leader to cause me trouble, and is ultimately the reason I ended up steamrolling the rest of the game. My Corvisquire knocked out his Gossifleur no problem, but my Dynamaxed Raboot actually lost to his Eldegoss forcing Corvisquire to finish the job. Since Milo had the obedience level limit, I thought Nessa would be a similar challenge, so I got Toxel and grinded for experience until it evolved into Toxtricity, only to find that Nessa and her Trainers were simply not prepared. So now Milo is my second least favorite Galar Gym Leader, because he tricked me into cheesing the game.
I’m currently doing a Pokémon sword mono water challenge, my wailmer and gyarados are the star Pokémon of my team, my gyarados swept the grass gym with ice fang, my wailmer can rank a super effective move as if it resists it.
I feel dmax and gmax holds back some of the gym leaders final mons. Got great non attacking moves that wont be used as youll likely beat them before their dmax or gmax runs through its 3 turns which makes these moves pointless
Kabu was no challenge for me because of my Drednaw. His Centiskorch was nothing to me because a Rock-Type move would one-shot a Fire and Bug-Type. Bea was tougher for me because my Corvisquire that was supposed to be a Corvinknight was under-leveled.
The two hardest gym leaders for me were kabu and raihan. Raihan for obvious reasons, but kabu was because I didn't have any moves super effective against fire when I fought him.
Honestly I think gordie is the easiest, I always sweep through his team since there are a lot of water and fighting type options in the reigon and also 2 starter types beat it I also think Nessa is really hard. The only real counters that you can get at that point being eldegoss and thwackey. You only have a 1/3 chance of getting thwackey and eldegoss is not a really appealing pokemon to use as it's pretty weak. Obviously if you pick scorbunny you will struggle but I found it difficult with sobble because razor shell just swept me when i couldnt beat it in its dynamax
The strategy I used for the fire gym leader is to wait for their dynamax to end then dynamax cuz I wiped out the rest of the team and when the leader does their dynamax switch out the Pokémon with the type advantage and use something else that can’t do anything against the dynamaxed Pokémon then bring out you’re Pokémon with type advantage then since their dynamax is over dynamax and finish em this worked well with the water gym leader as well cuz I easily took out the first 2 with yamper and used yamper for the ending dynamax
I played a nuzlocke and Kabu destroyed half of my team, because I had nothing against fire types. My new Sirfecht'd is just dead :( And my Boltund, and my Dottler which I had to sacrifice. Surprisingly the hardest gym leader for me. Bea also gave me some trouble, but then I used Coil against her paralyzed Sirfecht'd a few tymes and Centiskorch swept her.
Here's a challenge, rank all they gym leaders from weakest to strongest (including Justy from Pokemon Colosseum) and they will have pokemon from their rematches
I think Opal is the strongest trainer overall if you include her years and years of battling experience. I bet you could give her a balanced team and she would dominate.

I think Kabu is the hardest cause I always struggle against him. I almost lost to him in my first play through of sword and also shield. But I didn't pick sobble though.
Honestly, Kabu was the only hard one for me, all the others were incredibly easy, and this still remained true when I played the game a second time
Did everyone here prepare for the gyms? I had rillaboom Corviknight boltund ->Toxtricity phantump->Grimmsnarl Gastrodon and nothing until Mr.Rime.
Anyone else just wing it with whatever you found?
It took me so long to take down allister because of his mimikyu. I had not realized he doesnt take damage from the first hit
Can you ranks antagonists from weakest to strongest next? I can’t find anyone that’s done that.
I found Opal to be very easy with my Corviknight.
Empoleon77
Same. I just tore through her entire team with Steel Wing
Yep.
To be fair all the gym leaders can be taken out with 1 or 2 moves
I like that Nessa and Bea is the only gym leaders I almost lost to
That gmax duraladon looks like a sky scraper lol hes really tough to beat u need like a cinderace and a dragapult
We finally reached the Galar gym leaders!!!..
Yay..... not that exciting.
Jakewebmaster8 respect the dude’s opinion just cause you don’t like em don’t mean someone else can’t be excited.
I don't not like them.
Using stone edge on a shuckle is like giving physical moves on an alakazam
I'd love to see flannery, Norman, and Wallace take on Melanie, Sabrina, and fantina. That would be an interesting battle. God bless you mystic
People think opal is the hardest gym leader because of her unfair quizzes if you get the questions wrong (you will almost definitely get them wrong unless someone tells you)
For me the hardest gym leaders were melony and allister
The easiest were Milo (obviously) and Raihan
Not true on my first playthrough the only ones I got wrong was the age and color. And all you have to do is just switch out so I don’t see the problem.
I don't rlly remember any of the gym leaders or elite 4 being all that difficult. It was such an easy game imo
Opal was the hardest one for me.
How were supposed to know those answers on a blind run?
Now you have to do like a Top 8 of the best gym leaders overall, or maybe rank them all? Definitely looking forward to the climax of this series of videos
Would be much more interesting if you used the league version, that way everyone's failures come from even footing
Don't forget that Opal asks you questions before her gym battle and your stats get lowered for every question you get wrong.
You get a boost if you get them right though. And you can just switch to get rid of drops
Curse doesn't effect stats when used by a Ghost type Pokemon, that's 101 level.
Melony kabu and raihan are probably my top 3 glarian gym leaders
Milo might be the weakest but i bet he could out lift all of them my guy is hench🤣
not sure about gordie though
Just a small correction, Curse being a ghost type move will chip HP, not decrease speed for attack and defense boost
This should have been their teams in the tournament since every leader is there, and using their true power.
Though Kabu was tricky as well, I was just annoyed by Will-O-Wisp.
Obedience level cap only applies to traded pokemon
kabu was the only gym leader that gave me trouble and the only trainer aside from leon that managed to take out atleast 2 of my team
Me who just did raids and accidentally ended up overleveled for the majority of the game
Dude, the easiest one is opal if you plan ahead. youll literally will sweep her team if you get questions wrong
Melony must be the strongest ice type gym leader:
Pryce: 4th strongest
Candice: 6th strongest
Brycen: 5th strongest
Wulfric: 2nd strongest.....from behind
Melony: 2nd strongest
2th
I’m currently doing a Pokémon sword mono water challenge, my wailmer and gyarados are the star Pokémon of my team, my gyarados swept the grass gym with ice fang, my wailmer can rank a super effective move as if it resists it.
I feel dmax and gmax holds back some of the gym leaders final mons. Got great non attacking moves that wont be used as youll likely beat them before their dmax or gmax runs through its 3 turns which makes these moves pointless
i noticed at kabu’s party that you put centriskorch at level 27, Kabu isn’t a hacker. His centiskorch is at 28
Kabu and Gordie should've been swapped.
Gordie dies to any Water and Grass attacks.
Ground and Fighting too.
Rock is a really bad type.
My only question is where the remasterd unova teams black and white and black and white 2 are some of my favorites
Honestly I think gordie is the easiest,
I always sweep through his team since there are a lot of water and fighting type options in the reigon and also 2 starter types beat it
I also think Nessa is really hard.
Nessa was literally by far the hardest for me. I almost lost to her where as with all the other gym leaders I beat them all relatively easy.
did you pick scorbunny
Yes, and she somehow managed to take out my Yamper in 2 hits
Same here. Almost had Miltank flashbacks because of that damn Dreadnaw.
@@Drums_of_Liberation the way Drednaw doubles its speed and water attacks is pure evil
That darmanitan wasn't much of a threat when I set up trick room then put in my stealix
I played a nuzlocke and Kabu destroyed half of my team, because I had nothing against fire types.
My new Sirfecht'd is just dead :(
And my Boltund, and my Dottler which I had to sacrifice.
Why does heavy metal help body press?
It actually doesn’t cause Body press does damage based on defense not weight.
@@Youtubnium yeah thats what i thought

How is Kabu not the hardest one? Arcanine in the 3rd gym is too powerful, especially for me who started with Grookey.
His Ninetales doesn't have Drought?
I think Opal is the strongest trainer overall if you include her years and years of battling experience. I bet you could give her a balanced team and she would dominate.
