The Chevrolet Chevy II/Nova is a small automobile manufactured by Chevrolet, and produced in five generations for the 1962 through 1979, and 1985 through 1988 model years. Nova was the top model in the Chevy II lineup through 1968. The Chevy II nameplate was dropped after 1968, with Nova becoming the nameplate for all of the 1969 through 1979 models. Built on the X-body platform, the Nova was replaced by the 1980 Chevrolet Citation introduced in the spring of 1979. The Nova nameplate returned in 1985, produced through 1988 as a S-car based, NUMMI manufactured, subcompact based on the front wheel drive, Japan home-based Toyota Sprinter.
1966 Chevy IIs introduced an extensive sharp-edged restyle based in part on the Super Nova concept car. In general, proportions were squared up but dimensions and features changed little. Highlights included a bold grille and semi-fastback roofline. "Humped" fenders in an angular rear end were reminiscent of larger 1966 Chevrolets, though the 1966 Chevy II and Nova had vertical taillights and single headlights. The lineup again started with Chevy II 100 and Chevy II Nova 400 models.
For just $159 (equal to $1,252.92 today) more than a Nova 400, buyers could choose a Nova Super Sport. Available only in a Sport Coupe, the Nova SS was top of the line. The 194 cu in (3.18 L) inline-six was standard on the Super Sport, but any Chevy II (excluding four-cylinder) engine could be coupled with the SS. The Nova SS was visually distinguished by wide rocker panels and a bright aluminum deck lid cove. It had bright SS emblems on the grille and in the ribbed rear panel, and Super Sport script on the quarter panels. Wheel covers were inherited from the 1965 Malibu SS. Strato-bucket front seats were included, but a tachometer cost extra.[10] The ’66 Chevy II sales brochure clearly promoted the Super Sport as the “Chevrolet Chevy II Nova Super Sport,” but the name "Nova" was not used anywhere on the body. Front and rear emblems displayed "Chevy II SS."[11] In 1967, Chevy II was still the name of the vehicle, but the Nova SS option package replaced all Chevy II badging with Nova SS badging.
The 90 hp (67 kW) 153 cu in (2.51 L) inline-four engine was only offered in the base Chevy II 100 series models. Buyers could also order a 194 cu in (3.18 L) inline-six engine (std. in the SS), a 230 cu in (3.8 L) inline-six, a 195 hp (145 kW) or 220 hp (160 kW) 283 cu in (4.64 L) V-8, a 275 hp (205 kW) 327 cu in (5.36 L) V-8 and the top engine, a new Turbo-Fire 327 cu in (5.36 L) V-8 delivering 350 hp (260 kW). This engine was first seen in the Chevelle. This engine with the close-ratio four-speed manual transmission turned the normally mild Nova into a proper muscle car; The Powerglide automatic was not available with the 350 hp engine.
The 1967 models received nothing more than a touch-up after a restyling for 1966. All Novas got a crosshatch pattern that filled the deck lid trim panel. The Nova officially was still called the Chevy II Nova and had overtaken the bottom-rung Chevy II 100 in sales. The Chevy II 100 lacked much in the way of trim or brightwork. 1967 models carried significant improvements in the area of safety equipment. A government-mandated energy-absorbing steering column and safety steering wheel, soft interior parts such as armrests and sun visors, recessed instrument panel knobs, front seat belt anchors and dual brake master cylinders, were included in all 1967 models.
The 1967 Chevy II and its deluxe Nova rendition continued to attract compact-car shoppers. Available only in hardtop coupe form, the 1967 Chevrolet Nova SS got a new black-accented anodized aluminum grille. SS wheel covers were again inherited, this time from the 1965-66 Impala SS. The 1966 "Chevy II SS" badges were replaced with "Nova SS" emblems for the '67s. Nova versions started with the 194 cu in (3.18 L)in-line six engine but new was an optional 250 cu in (4.1 L) inline-six. Further powertrain options included a 195 hp (145 kW) 283 cu in (4.64 L) V-8 and, for $93 more, a 275 hp (205 kW) 327 cu in (5.36 L) V-8. Nova SS coupes had a console-mounted shift lever with their Powerglide automatic transmission or a four-speed manual. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ

My favorite thing about your channel is that you encourage people to build models the way they want and not for anyone else. My dad built a 66 chevy 2 prostreet when I was a kid he was waiting on linkage for the 2 carbs. That night kids were playing with fireworks behind the shop. The insurance agent said to wait to insure it until it was drivable. Needless to say he never got to drive it. He passed away in 2018, I am going to build exact replica so my mom can se it for Christmas. Just picked up the pro street ertl kit
Before the eyes and hands started to go south on me, I used to build “contest level” models. Even had some made it to SCALE AUTO! But after watching you, I’m sure glad you weren’t in those contests! I love the stories you come up with when you're building a new kit. That engine stand is very cool also. AMT should have included street cheater slicks ,it's kind of strange having a race engine and pro stock hood scoop with stock tires, something I will correct when I pick up mine. Wow I love how you build the models. I love how you reference what looks like the 60s or 70s at the beginning of the videos. I grew up that time. I could never build models any good. I got into music and Audio Video and killed it there. But I love watching folks with the talent to have the models come alive. 💘 that engine stand and spare engine... You can create a "work in progress" look!!
I bought a 1966 Chevy II SS 350 horse 327 new and it came with a double pumper holley carb high rise aluminum intake manifold. It was yellow with black interior. I changed the exhaust to the way you have it. The engine also had the dual horn air cleaner and chrome valve covers. I put traction bars similar to those that came with the kit. I could pull the front tires and it took about a month to burn off the 695x14 tires. It was fast. Liked your representation.

Man, LOVE IT. Yes, the building the model the way YOU want to build it, is what it's all about. And the stories you come up with, is PERFECT in relation to your build !!! The tips and techniques you use in your model building, I have started doing myself. And it is amazing, especially when it comes to the detailing of the dash gauges, interior and motor. Hi Chris, I just want to start by saying I have learned so much watching your channel. I was comparing a couple of my builds from a year ago to my most recent ones wow what a huge difference. So thank you for all of your great ideas and knowledge. Also you have never once complained about any of the kits, even if there are problems or things don't line up, or parts don't look to realistic. I just watched another channel and that guy cut down this kit so bad it was terrible. My grandson likes to watch you, so thank you for being a positive influence on everyone that watches your videos. I show every single part in the beginning and let people make their own judgements.
Then I quickly assemble it, paint it and let people see what it 'can' look like if built as is.
We'll let the negative folks do their thing. There is so much of that in the hobby and I prefer to open the box and get to work. I just love building models and having fun!

This kit was a breakthrough back in its day ; back in *1988* when it was originally issued . Thankfully , someone saw to it to removed the ridiculous moulded-on interior rear view mirror ! It was cast *with* the windscreen !
I have the *Grumpy's* modified-reissue of this kit from a few years ago ---- can't wait to tear into it .

Hello, back in 1966 this car was really hopped up by Chevrolet. High compression pistons, ( I think it was 12.5:1 ) very high lift cam, big Holly carb, headers and a high rise intake manifold. I built this kit when it first came out. Outstanding detail. The torn down small block engine and engine stand is outstanding. I liked it so much I bought 2. What a great job you did on this kit. Going to look for it on Model Round Up web site. There I hope to see your build too. like a lot of your builds there. great job. Been looking for your stock build on the 1941 Plymouth, and the airplane that you started a while ago. I think it was a P51 Mustang. Oh well. Looking forward to your next one. Testors silver is the best. Sometimes the stars align and it goes on and dries flawlessly...
It's always a gamble if it dries nice and hard or if it stays sticky and smudges (even if you thinned and stirred it)

Chris, your detailing tips are top notch! Your builds always turn out looking fantastic. I know you build over 100 models a year with your review/build so it takes a lot of your time. I really appreciate what you do and I watch every one of your videos. Just wondering if you ever get the “itch” to do a full detail build that takes more time. I can imagine that it would be amazing.
