Small tip for you - in many places around the world close to the ocean there will be a port. In many ports especially dubai there are seamens missions where the food is crazy cheap as it’s subsided. you may have to pose as a cargo ship crew member though. You can even get a seafarers ID WHICH WILL ALSO COME IN VERY HANDY DURING A PANDEMIC as ships crew are never restricted from travelling-for this valuable information I will only charge you $100 but for you 99percent discount 👍

Great video Brett, loved seeing the old town footage as it was what we found there when I was in the USAF back in the early 2000s .
It reminded me of Dammam and Khobar areas in Saudi, just after the first gulf war, walking around shopping there that area was much more open and friendly to us . The shop keepers would offer us coffee and talk very openly and we would eat local foods like shawarma etc for a dollar it was awesome!
However a couple years later went to Ryad which was not as friendly and felt more restrictive which I was never able to get a handle on.
Still a great lesson for others on how to be the good American tourists!!

That hotel isn't bad for $124. I mean you would get far worse probably in NYC or Chicago. I think though that while we may say that Dubai is one of the most expensive cities, and it may be, it may also just be certain things, like food and activities, but other things, like accomodations may be more reasonable it seems (at least in some areas, although being at the Marina area, which appears to be almost like the city center) that's not bad.

There are so many non-Arabs living in Dubai as part of the support economy that I didn't really think it was that expensive to stay there. Most of the restaurants and mall stores have Filipino employees and every cab driver I ever had was from Pakistan. If you want to stay at the Burj Al Arab, yes, you'll pay 2k a night to sleep in a hotel that's in the shape of a boat sail, but there are lots of affordable hotels like the one in Brett's video. The cost to ride to the top of the Burj Khalifa {tallest building in the world} was less than the ride to the top of Rockefeller Center in NYC. One thing I'll add though, the young man who made this video found a bar to drink in at the end of the video. Fair warning, this is a still a very conservative Muslim country and the Dubai cops will not put up with public intoxication. Someone who worked for the same company I did got dumb-assed drunk there and the cops snatched him right off the street and he was in jail for a week. Get arrested for drunk driving and you'll spent months in jail. Also watch yourself during Ramadan, drinking water in public or M/F hand holding and kissing will get you in trouble quick. And don't even think of M/M or F/F public displays of affection.

In general, the best way for anyone to enjoy another county's best features for cheap is to have someone local who can speak the language. I made many trips there for vacation with my husband and kids who are foreigners but I also had friends who were local who guided us everywhere. So we went to the most expensive places as well as the well-known nationally cheapest places and had a ball. I actually stayed in a hotel in Al Seef because I wanted the mix of old and new Dubai. I went to that Souk almost every day lol

As a native, I recommend eating from cafeterias instead of restaurants if youre on budget. Most cafeterias will sell you a whole meal with large drink and fries for 3-4$. The prices of restaurants are high here most restaurants have burgers listed for 25-30$ plus that most restaurants sell water for 6-8$ which is absurd lmao. im surprised you found a place that sells a whole meal for 9.50$ each. (a really good price)

3:10 Photography is allowed in Dubai and in public areas is allowed ... I'm sorry about this guy but he doesn't know the rules

It seems Dubai is a great tourist destination for anyone even on a budget. I think the problem is getting to Dubai 🤣 I couldn’t imagine the plane tickets

in my country, it's pretty cheap getting tickets to Dubai. but getting past the TSA/immigration for first time solo travelers can be a headache lmao

On my last two trips to Dubai, I stayed at the Hyatt Dubai Creek, which is on a gated golf course, on the water (Dubai Creek), and they gave us the honeymoon suite once, with 2 bathrooms, living room, dining room, 2 huge terraces, and there were rose petals in my bathtub and lit candles all around (it was our first anniversary - they kept us in the lobby while they did this; what a lovely surprise). Of course, it did not cost $100 a night - it was $1200 a night, but it was a special occasion and we spent 3 days in Dubai before boarding our Regent Cruise through the Middle East. Sometimes you just have to have a special memory. On our second trip to Dubai, we again stayed at the Hyatt Dubai Creek. It’s so lovely, the gardens, the water; I just didn’t want to try anywhere else. It also is only 3 stories tall, with incredible security. I didn’t want to try any of the hotels down on the beach, like Burj al Arab, nearly twice the cost, but I’m not a tall building person, having lived all my live in homes. However, I really enjoyed your video and wish you all the best. God bless.

I'm staying there next week for a few days What restaurants do you recommend on property and nearby? Thanks in advance

@@gilbertnicholas1582 there are two restaurants in the property, the breakfast and lunch restaurant in the lobby; and the formal restaurant overlooking the water for night time dining. I can’t remember the names of the restaurants, but we ate our breakfasts and dinners at the Hyatt Dubai Creek, and the food was excellent. Of course, with Platinum Amex, breakfast is always included for two people, and a $100 food credit during the stay (which about pays for one person’s dinner). We would have lunch wherever we were sightseeing - Burj, Dubai Mall, etc. Excellent food in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Enjoy your trip!
