I just recently splurged an the #77 Black Wingtip boots. WOW! I needed a classy yet comfortable boot due to the work I do. I wear several hats, a police Chaplain and security at a 5 star 5 diamond luxury hotel here in Vancouver. These boots fill the bill. They look awesome, and are super comfortable. Nothing else compares!!
IMO they are absolutely worth $200.00. I have 2 pairs of Iron Rangers and didn't know what to expect when I got my Captains. Very pleasantly surprised. Leather is quality, comfortable from the first day wearing them. I'm very happy with Thursday Boots.
Which one would you choose if you could have one? Have the blacksmiths but they aren’t great for standing for very long
Love their boots. Just purchased my 3rd pair of Captains in Arizona Adobe. First 2 pairs were in Brown and Natural, purchased around 2018.
Yes they are. I own 5 different pair. Mostly captains, one president, and one Duke. Love them all.
Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to break all of those in on average?

I just got my first pair of Captains, I LOVE them. I wear them to work (sticking shelves at a grocery store) and the first night a hardly had any of those first wear aches.

I think it's worth mentioning that the black pair has rugged and resilient leather, which is a leather packed with oils that requires less maintenance. Otherwise, great video.
I have a similar collection to yours. I have the black matte like yours that has the rugged look I love. I also have the black version but with the nice finished leather that I wear to interviews and such. I think just such a small collection is great because it allows for so much variety in your style.

Pretty sure the browns ones are the Presidents. They don’t have that “toe cap” stitching. Both killer tho

I am torn between the Adobo or Black Matte Captains. Great review
I think both are very versatile and you can’t go wrong regardless. Maybe find out what colors you wear often and see what works best with your wardrobe?

I've had the Tobacco rugged leather. They destroyed my ankle the first year. After 1.5 years they are more comfortable than any tennis shoe I have. Definitely worth the break in
I usually wear higher socks with them. Maybe use those next time? Lol. If you did and that still happened, sorry to hear that man. Glad you like them now though!
@@lantzkulp breaking it in actually left pretty deep bruises in my actual heal. I should have probably worn some thicker socks, but after that, they only get more comfortable

Are the Thursday boots worth it? Absolutely. I recently bought a pair of Tobacco Presidents a full size down in a Wide version and they fit perfectly. Sneaker size 13. Thursday boot size size 12 Wide.
I agree 100%! That’s funny you mention the sneaker size along with boot size. I purchased Thursday sneaker in a 1/2 size up (10 from 9.5 in boots) and they fit perfectly.

I'm planning on buying the Captain's in Arizona Adobe, but since I'm in Sweden returning them for another size will be costly!
I wear a size 9 US in most things but 9.5 in Thursdays!

I have a question. How was the sizing for this particular boot?
I just couldn't find the right fit for thier Jodphur boot. I'm usually a size 10 in everything but my heel kept moving around. I have sized down and the heel was fine but my toes were crushed. I'm technically a size E in width but I always wear a D.
Is this boot true to size?
They were true to size for me. Now, with that being said I do think the toe boxes are a little narrow. They do however stretch out the more you wear them. I think wearing them more often will help with the heel slipping. The cork bed should conform to your foots anatomy and therefore a better fit.

My issue with Thursday is that their last isn’t very anatomical. Flip the boot over and look at the bottom - look at the plan shape.
It’s more symmetrical than, for example, a good Italian boot. A good anatomical last will be more wasp waisted and more asymmetrical. It should look more like your footprint in the sand.
Wear the Thursday boot then try on a good pair of boots - like the (overpriced) Alden. A good last will replicate your foot shape in a semi- unweighted relaxed form. The Thursday boot forces your foot into the shape of the boot.

I’d say yes, but I think it depends on the type of suit along with the occasion.
Short answer: Yes. They are. Go buy a pair or 4.
Definitely worth it. The big question is if the resole cost is worth it?

I bought several pairs (Captain, President and a Chelsea) before I realized their soles are terrible and go flat quickly. I did resole the President with a good Vibram sole, but for that price I could have started with a $300 boot like a Parkhurst
I like to get a pair of Thursday boots. I take size UK 8, so what size do I order from Thursday boots to get the right USA size equivalent?
I'd go to their website and view their conversion table! Can't go wrong!

A couple of things, the brown pair are Presidents, not Captains. The main difference is no cap toe on the President. Second, you mention that you may be able to pick them up on sale. Thursday notes on their website that they NEVER put their boots on sale or offers promo codes, so if you want them, buy with confidence that you are getting their best price.

My hope is to give these reviews to help people such as you and I. Ill get better as time goes on learning my way through but I hope this helped you a little bit. Made in Mexico with American leather
I've got 3 pairs and would live to get another in a different leather, but only certain colors/styles are available in a wide width :( I just got their white premier low tops and love them. They squeeked the first few times I wore them but are quiet now.

You will not find better value for money than Thursday boots . I have a pair of Captains and a pair of Cavaliers. Never been more satisfied with a clothing purchase

@@The_Zilli Sorry, Im just seeing this! I actually just wore the Presidents (brown pair) over the weekend and loved how much better they are in terms of comfort. They look narrow. Too refined. Like the type of boot you have to wear with skinny jeans. I wouldn't call this rugged/combat look that I'm looking for.
I personally do not wear skinny jeans and receive compliments all the time on them. They dont work for everyone however. In case you decide to give them a try, they do offer wide options!

The narrow toe box and quality control are my biggest concern. I also hear they’re very long boots. I wear a size 13 sneaker so I’m not sure if they’d look good.
@@enceladus2263 the toe box measures around 4-4.5'' of width on mine (size 10). I personally don't think they look long but the quality of build is amazing for the price. Thanks for reaching out!

@@kosta2177 nah I get that I just said that considering the rest of the shoe was taken care of. I’ve just never had the experience of resoling a shoe so my focus was on how new would the sole look if you can give me an answer I’ll appreciate it
@@Enmanuel_V6 to be honest I don’t have that experience as well. But according to a lot of videos on TH-cam a lot depends on skills of the cobbler. I saw some awesome restorations.

What do you recommend at a 200 dollar price point? Your comment is an empty statement that contributes to nothing.
The sole was like a piece of rigid plastic; a piece of rigid plastic will always be just that until it snaps. If a shoe or a boot takes forever to break in then it of very poor quality. This boot was harder than a certain part of the male anatomy except this one will never become flaccid. Shame on you.
Thanks for the feedback! I’m not sure which boot you’re referring to. Boots/shoes etc always have a break in period depending upon how often you wear them. I personally don’t wear them year round, which is why my Captains weren’t completely broken in. You also have to factor in the quality for the price. It’s unmatched as of right now in the industry.
