  • I filmed my entire houseplant care routine for a week! Indoor plant care can be overwhelming, especially with a growing collection. By taking an hour or so every day to care for my plants it really helps to stay caught up on everything. What does your weekly plant care routine look like?

I only started buying plants last April, and I lost SO many in the early days, from overwatering. I now have over 100, and they are all thriving. I have potted up several cuttings which are now all putting out new growth, and honestly, it makes me want to cry. I am an incredibly anxious person, and I spend alot of my time at home, so I can't tell you the joy and the peace my plants give me.

No houseplants but a young grafted plum tree of mine was covered in aphids two years ago, and two ladybugs spontaneously flew onto it and started eating them all. As soon as I noticed, I kidnapped a couple more in the wild and put them on the same tree. It was fascinating to watch; in a week it was totally clean, and the ladybugs went their own happy way.
(I didn't clean off the sticky sugary stuff the aphids left behind, though, so grey mold grew onto it later - there's a lesson for you all: after you get rid of aphids by whatever means, wash your plant thorougly or it'll get fungus!)

I learned how the leaves feel when my plants need water they usually feel soft. Then after I water I wait for about an hour feel them and they feel firm. So that's how I water most of my plants instead of sticking my fingers in the soil. To tell you the truth I let most of my plants bone dry before I water except for the ones that like lots of water. Another thing I lift up the pots and if they are light weight I can tell they need to be watered. Then after I water The pot feels heavy. Then from there I can tell when they need water just by lifting the pot.
I do have the plant named Alsobia Dianthiflora it puts out white frilly flowers and mine does flower.
Thanks for your tip of adding doctor bronner's Castille soap and tea tree oil to some water. I have to try that. 👍🏾😊

I use pretty natural fertilizers lol. After I make green tea I pour a little in or squeeze the rest of the teabag out and water it. I keep moss on top of the soil of some of the plants that need more humidity when it gets too dry outside and I'll pop dying leaves from other plants underneath that. They decay because of the moisture and that provides the soil with nutrients. You can soak chopped up banana peels in hot water and then strain it and water the plants with it when its cooled down. Use ground up dried eggshells, or fish tank water.

I am so happy I found your channel about month or so ago. I love watching you and seeing your babies and watching you buy new plants and giving me ideas. It's so relaxing to me. I have been struggling with anxiety and depression more so than usual the past year of my life. I finally forced myself to make some major changes and find a hobby and stick with it to give myself something else to focus on and I remembered my mother always really enjoyed taking care of houseplants. So I bought my first 2 plants 3 months ago and I cannot even express how much it has helped me. I look forward to something again. Anytime I start to go to super dark places I think about my plants. And how they would die if I wasn't around to care for them. I don't remember the last time I got excited about anything and now I get waaay to excited about a new baby leaf or to just walk around and check on how they are doing lol. I'm up to about 30 now. Back to my original point, ha, you are so peaceful and genuine and I can tell you have a good soul. Thanks for doing cool plant stuff on the internet and putting yourself out there. I'm sure it's terrifying haha.

I'm disabled and live alone and the plants seem to be calming to me. I have a 3 bedroom 2 bath apartment but because of all of the neighborhood kids, I can't really have plants where they can reach them. I'm not experienced. I don't know what my plants are so I don't know if they're poisonous.

A small humidifier for my new picky plant lol. I've been looking at humidifiers and the only ones I'm interested in are kinda pricey so I've been thinking on it before I buy one. Now I don't have to stress out about keeping the humidity up around the one plant while I figure it out 🙂

I have been falling more and more in love with my plants and finding it difficult to resist buying new ones when I see them. I used to think I must have a brown thumb as they say, but I loved seeing the beautiful, happy plants growing at friend's houses and was so envious that I just kept trying and reading on how to care for plants. And of course now I watch videos also which is so helpful and I a having so much good success now! I just brought home like five little cute plants from Lowe's three of them are air plants! I just discovered air plants this summer! Yeah I tried to walk away.
We are getting ready to sell our house so I have to be careful not to have too many at the moment. I gave some of my large plants to a friend. I still have a good 20 plats at least right now. I am also getting rid of most of my possessions and clothing, completely decluttering. And guess what? In my new house, which we don't have one yet, but I am going to mostly use plants in decorating and very little else other than furniture. I will be focusing more on my plants, my health, my husband, dogs, spiritual understanding, and reading good books! I'm so excited! Thanks for the inspiration!

I have around 80 inodor plants and I get crazy watering them but when I saw your collection I felt little bit lazy because sometimes I don´t give them the proper care. Love your plants!

You really take good care of them. Wonderful routine. I think I need to use some fertilizing in some of mine, but not too much 😊 to remove water from saucers from heavy containers I use a turkey baster 😀

Girl...you need to keep a worm bin. I'm new to your videos so I don't know if you already do as I haven't made it through your body of work yet, but if anyone needs a bin...you do! You can harvest leachate (essentially worm pee) to dilute down as worm tea to fertilize and I imagine you'd find PLENTY to do with the nutrient rich castings!! Vermicomposting for the win! I dig your love for green buddies.

Dear Harli, when I saw your Fittonia so big, beautiful and so full, I just purchased a Fittonia Verschaffeltii (Plante Mosaïque in french) which has red leaves and almost looks like strawberries! I just love this plant so much, I'm gonna be re potting it so it can spread and get as beautiful as yours but from what I've heard and read about proper care for this type of plant, they seem to be ''demanding'' and ''high maintenance''! Temperature, watering, lighting and substrate... but I am ready and willing for this cute little puppy! Thanks so much for your videos, you are so charming and easy going and love your sense of humor ! Safe trip to NYC! ♥ Jaden

I have a compost bucket with isopods and springtails to help break down organic material, I mix in the soil from the bucket with mulch, perlite, and sand for drainage. The bugs help keep roots healthy and naturally aerate the soil.

Oh another thing I like what some frown on. I love to keep my bottom lids on my hanging plants. I take mine to the sink water the plants let it drain as I'm watering. Wait just a few mins then pour out the excess that's in the saucer by tipping the plant over and opening the saucer up with my hand so the water can drain. Then if more drain you don't have to worry about excess water spilling over. And if more water drains in the saucer it just wicks back up in the soil. It works for me with know problems with my plants 👍🏾😊
