- Today I decided to go houseplant shopping at 6 of the Big Box Stores garden centers in my home town. I am aways curious as to which Walmart, lowes, & Home Depot locations have the best indoor plant selection. Garden Centers in grocery stores & hardware stores like these are typically not the greatest, but I think I was able to find some great plants to add to my houseplant collection! What do you think?

I also prefer this style! New to your community and been watching shopping and haul videos to learn the names of plants, and their prices so I can find good deals. TYSM for listing the prices in the description as well!
I would so appreciate an average price range for certain plants video. I know it depends on location and season, etc..... like an average range for common household plants in spring.....but for example $21 for a big pothos, i didn’t know that was expensive..... so if you can help us newbies out 👍🏽

Golden Pothos are just really common and really REALLY hard to kill. So they tend to be less expensive. I got mine, a medium sized one, for 5 bucks at my walmart. I second that I would enjoy videos with the prices and your interpretation of the value cause I am just now getting into plants. So glad you're listening, Harli!

At least in Canada thats suuuuper cheap especially compared to a nursery. The nurseries i go to if the pothos were that big its around $40-50 so the prices in the videos are a STEAL!!

i was at home depot taking all the bird of paradise out looking for the right one.
I was there to get a shelf.
I have a bird of paradise now.
Still no shelf.
Looks great though, day 5 of unfurling new leaf, it’s huge.

I live in Florida which has really good conditions, the downside is that there are many aficionados here so there is no much plants to shop for. Is all gone very fast.

I’m 17 and I’ve been recently getting into plants I bought like 10 on my first week but I live with my parents so I have limited room lol my favorite thing is rescuing plants that r in the stores that aren’t being taken care of and seeing them become healthy ! Haha, this made me laugh, as I said the same thing, then bought this exact plant! That was two days ago. Since then I ordered another 5 plants online and bought 1 at the store. My bank account has not been this empty for a long time... Definitely no spend for me now.
its so comforting to see someone with as much of a plant obsession as i have! it seems I never have enough space (or money) for all the plants I want to buy. My room is slowly becoming a jungle!

Walmart had little one gallon containers of about a foot tall plants for less than six dollars along with singular cordylines (ti plant/tree).
I was on the fence about which one to get so I went with the purple one.
It’s the only way to make the right choice haha
here in the Netherlands they already cost around 50 euros for such a medium size, a large cost around 100 to 150 euros...
I would also immediately get one for that price😍

Harli, it's definitely a Princess. The Princess plant has the variegation in the center of the leaf. The Queen has it on the edges. Love your choices!! Kudos to your sis for helping even when she was sick! xoxo

Your Home Depot has much *much* healthier plants than mine. I swear somebody at my HD actively enjoys hurting plants. They’re so wet they look like they’ve been water boarded. There’s broken leaves everywhere and everything seems to have bugs or fungus or algae.
If I’m really lucky I can get there right after they get a new shipment of plants and snag one before they can damage it but I still have to keep it quarantined because I’ve seen a lot of spider mites at HD

My Home Depot and Lowe’s are flip flopped from yours. My Home Depot is fantastic but the Lowe’s is a no go 🤷🏻♀️

I'm in central TX & our Home Depots are terrible for plants, all the Lowes around usually have a great selection! 😅
I found a giant cebu blue at my Walmart too and FREAKED out! It's been on my wish list forever, and it was the last one they had! And the houseplant selection around where I live is super limited, so I felt like I found buried treasure lol.
Also, I think that's a crimson princess! I remember it from the saying: the crimson princess wears her variegation like a gown, the crimson queen wears hers like a crown!

I’ve never been one to have a green thumb. Most plants end up dying in my care. But I started with several succulents and I didn’t kill so I got a few more plants to detoxify the hour and now I’m hooked!!! Love watching your show! You get so giddy, like I get at craft stores. Love learning about new plants.

Shopping WITH your sister was better imo. I love that she zoomed in on your reactions and that you had a partner to hold you spot/plants while running to go and get plants. Also... if you're feeling conflicted about a plant you have a second opinion. ;) I can be indecisive at times so I prefer shopping with a friend or my spouse to help me decide.

I also pull out every plant to compare and make sure I’m getting the BEST one . I’ve spent hours comparing the same plants over and over. It’s insane, but I always get the healthy ones and even find hidden gems that way . Glad I ain’t the only one . Seeing y’all have fun and laugh so much is great 🤣
I love your enthusiasm about buying new plants! I get the same way when I see plants that are not very common--especially in small boutique garden shops. I can spend hours (and lots of money) in some of these places!

Yeah, my fiancé got mine for me as a birthday present from Home Depot for $70. It was spendy but it’s done really well and I’m currently propagating some new plant babies 👶🏼🌱 I am dying to buy more plants right now but we’re on a no-spending month right now lol😅

Wow, you actually found multiple hoya’s at big box stores! It’s been 2 years ago now since this video was posted. I’ve never, ever seen Hoya or philodendrons in any big box stores I go to in Centerville, bountiful, or even farther south to Draper. For years I make trips to Lowe’s, Walmart, and Home Depot to look at plants nearly every time I grocery shop or am in the area. I cannot believe how much philodendron and Hoya I saw at these stores you went to, I guess I need to shop further north.

Usually they will just shove all of them on the clearance rack but there will be a few alive ones in there if u find them u can get them for clearance prices

It’s your Florida plant nerd here again. Those bird of paradise are amazing. My neighbor has three 12 foot tall bird of paradise and a bunch of smaller ones in his back yard and they are gorgeous
