- Today we dive into a fantastic New Zealand / Australian band CROWDED HOUSE with their worldwide smash "Don't Dream It's Over" ! The single from their self-titled debut album became the band's biggest international hit reaching #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in April 1987 !

You really need to listen to "I Got You", "Message To My Girl" and "I Walk Away" by Split Enz, to fully appreciate just how good Neil is. Oh and by the way theres a clue in the name of the band Split eNZ - the Finns are New Zealanders ( Hester & Seymour were Australian though). Oh and the bassists brother was the lead singer of Hunters & Collectors and I strongly suggest you listen to "Throw Your Arms Around Me" it's incredible.
Split Enz will be on the show in the future for sure. Interesting info on the name (New Zealand). So cool bassists bother was lead singer of "Hunters & collectors", love the "Human Frailty" album and the tunes "Throw your arms around me" and "Is there anybody in there" 😎😎
@Ian McDonagh - They had a ton of good songs to be honest and that Symphonic stuff that Eddie Rayner did (Enzso) is insanely good too.
Neil writes amazing lyrics and delivers them to perfection.

Best group in the world! Neil Finn is a musical genius and this is one of their best songs. I don't know how anyone could dislike CH. They're touring North America soon!

Neil Finn,... surprised there wasn't a reference as well, to his current gig as rhythm guitar-lead and backing vocals in Fleetwood Mac, along with Mike Campbell, in lieu of Lindsey Buckingham being booted out in 2018. (Even while he's still technically part of Crowded House).
As for this song, another great one from the 80s Aussie invasion. My only disappointment, like with the A-Ha career, is that this is a band with 7 albums and 34 singles, and all average American music fans know is 1 or 2 albums and 3-5 of their singles. ... and that's a shame.
It is a shame but in America that's all that was relevant, their first 2 albums. I have every crowded House album, including the new one "Dreamers Are Waiting", once a fan always a fan! Didn't know Neil was playing with Fleetwood Mac, great choice by them 😎😎
@@reactionextraction yep, they toured with FWM last tour. everything's on hiatus Lindsey keeps nudging the media to sway opinion for him to come back for a farewell tour, Mick is seemingly on board, and probably Christine, but John loves retirement, and Stevie hasn't seen enough dollar signs to convince her to reunite with Lindsey for one last classic line-up go-around. SO, for now Neil and Mike are still listed as the two musicians who stepped in to replace Lindsey.
I've listened via streaming, but hadn't bought 'Dreamers...' yet. Yes, sometimes record labels are too smart for their own good. ;-)
I was gonna mention the same thing about Neil & Mike playing & touring with Mac from 2018-19….& will be interesting to see where they go from here. Think Mike’s still involved & playing with Dirty Knobs…..but has to be still so hard for the guy after losing Tom P😓.

Here's a weird fact, guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani sang backing vocals on three songs on this album. But did not play guitar... (The second guitarist who does all the ambient parts on this track is Tim Pierce who has his own excellent TH-cam channel).

No Worries 😂 .... I mainly have 12" singles on vinyl, but I only put older albums or things I have double copies of on the wall , would never deface my rare vinyl 😎😎
