    Thank you for your videos, I’ve enjoyed following along. This one made me chuckle. Dad: spends five minutes discussing a small turnbuckle. Mom: does everyones’s laundry and takes five minutes to organize and outfit an entire weeks worth of food for three people. (I know that’s not the actual time or the entirety of work done, but it still made me laugh.) From a fellow Canadian dad who appreciates turnbuckles, and Jacques Cousteau.

    Beautiful shots of the sharks! They are majestic creatures that definitely demand our respect. I went snorkeling in the Galapagos a month ago and swam with sharks. The difference is that in the Galapagos, the sharks don't see splashes as food. They have so much food readily available they don't give a second thought to us swimming. Where you were, when the sharks associate splashes with little appetizers, they react to the entry into the water, give you a test bite and USUALLY let go and leave you alone. Unfortunately, damage is already done. Humans throwing food into the water feeding the sharks create a dangerous situation for swimmers. Know where you are swimming!! Great video! Thank you.

      What you say is so true. Most always it is the humans that cause the problems . Your trip to the Galapagos sounds fantastic!

    Just found your channel and I LOVE it! I love your energy and nice way you speak to each other. Not to mention your boat! Right now my husband and I have a 27ft Airstream but I'm thinking boat next. We live in Maine so you're lil 27 tug seems like the perfect thing! Thanks for the great content.

    Great video, what camera did you use to film underwater for the sharks with?

    Different grades of stainless prevent corrosion at different levels. It's the amount of nickel in the application. I believe 304 is premium corrosion resistance. But, a softer metal providing less tensile strength.

      Hi Jeff, that is correct unfortunately I don’t want to go around the entire boat and replace all the fasteners. Many bolts today are built out of low quality stainless fasteners. It seems like the railings and many of the other parts are good quality but when it comes to the screws they rust quickly. I have learned to cover them with a silicone spray so it lasts a little longer before it starts rusting again. I do appreciate your input and if you have anything else that you think might be helpful please feel free to comment.

    Did you decide to upgrade the motor based on your experience coming back from bone fishing? What HP?

    • @expeditionseanest
      @expeditionseanest  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that’s exactly why we bought the other outboard. The six horse was gutless and made it so we could only travel at extremely slow speeds. In the Bahamas they still sell two-stroke outboards. Great power to weight ratio. I purchased a 9.9 hp two-stroke . Now that little dinghy flies.

    Thanks for the videos!! Doi you run a generator or just solar?

    • @expeditionseanest
      @expeditionseanest  ปีที่แล้ว

      Both. We use solar but need the generator when we are online doing office work as the Starlink sucks the battery!

      @@expeditionseanest Thanks so much i love the videos. My wife and i want to sail away but have 4 more years of high school. That is my son has 4 more years. We live in south Florida and want to get to the Bahamas to start exploring. Seams like the pilot house is the answer, it must be towable. Just curious did you look at the Boston Whaler 285? I am not a mechanic and I'm a little apprehensive about getting a boat with just a single motor. What's your thought process on that?

      @expeditionseanest  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andybrande hello Andy, one of the reasons why we went with the ranger tug is because it only comes with one main engine. But if you look on the port stern, you’ll see a small 9.9 hp kicker. This is the motor we use in case we have engine problems with the big motor, it will still push the boat at 6 kn roughly the same speed you would go if you were just cruising. Going with only one main engine means that your boat is considerably lighter when you’re trailering and it also doesn’t change the way it sits in the water I’m guessing with the Boston whaler it must sit very stern heavy. I noticed that the batteries and everything are sitting to the extreme stern, this I’m guessing would cause the boat to sag in the stern. The other great reason to get only one main big engine is that there is a substantial savings. I just had the impeller replaced and oil in the lower unit and engine and it cost me $1000, I sure don’t wanna have to have two large engines like that done every second year Boston whaler makes a very durable boat, but for us, we prefer the more liveable style of the ranger tug. But if fishing is a priority, then I think the Boston whaler might be a good choice.

      Do you wish now that you have spent time on the boat, that you would have gotten the next size ranger@@expeditionseanest

    Has a bull shark ever got anyone around the marina? Seems like a scary place around the marina with so many sharks looking for dinner. Glad you got provisioned for your cruise to the Exumas. I didn't see your son in this video. Did he fall overboard?

    • @expeditionseanest
      @expeditionseanest  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not aware of any attacks or fatalities in the area due to sharks, but we really didn’t ask. #2 son was there just didn’t make the edit this time. He actually offered to assist an elderly gentleman at the marina to retrieve his phone after it fell overboard, but thank goodness another young lad courageously went in to dive for it! Didn’t have the GoPro with me or I would have filmed the craziness for you!

      There were bull sharks and nurse sharks in the video. I believe the nurse sharks were labelled to differentiate the two.

    What size tug is your boat ?

    • @expeditionseanest
      @expeditionseanest  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a Ranger TugR25 . With the swim platform it’s actually about 28 feet from the bow to the back of the outboard .
