    Such a helpful, informative video. Really appreciate the intricate details between the two. It's one thing to read a spec sheet, totally different to do a walkthrough. Thanks!

    Very helpful, as always. You always end up answering my questions. I’m 6’2 and bunk space has worried me. I will be interested to know the length of the other bunk and what tall people do to work around the fact that there is no comfortable way for a tall person to share the V Berth. I would also like to know the length of the dinette and its practicality for grandchildren. I would want to do something to prevent a kid falling off. Thanks, again. TH-cam has very few boat presenters with your sophisticated knowledge and who speaks from the experience of the guy who bought it, read the manual, installed it and can tell you the good and bad. You both have that quality. Finally, I enjoy how you two treat each other with such deference and care. Congratulations.

    Nice job. Keep up the good work.
    Not sure Lazina knew about the HUGE drawer at the base of the queen bed in the R-29 that provides nearly as much room as the two smaller compartments combined.

      Thanks for watching! And you'd be right. Did not know about that lower drawer. I did caution her in saying the RT27-OB had more storage than the R29. Lol -Martin

    Thanks for answering my question on the trailer price so fast. I have a couple other questions. Is the refrigerator a three-way or what on the 27. If you don’t. Have you ever done a video on the difference between your boat and the luxury boat on the 27. Thank you for your time.

    • @Letsgochannelsurfing
      @Letsgochannelsurfing  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The refrigerator is powered via 12volt DC only. There are several reasons for this. The refrigerator actually can be upgraded with a circuit board to support 120volt AC power in addition to 12 volt DC. However, that module consumes more power when on 12volt. So in the interest of power savings, the factory only delivers them with the 12 volt module. Propane isn't an option because the boat's powered by gasoline (propane is heavier than air and would settle in the bilge). For LE vs NW edition, check out this video. th-cam.com/video/vcdYPw0JPrc/w-d-xo.html

      When we plug into shorepower, we leave the refrigerator on. Turn on the battery charger, which charges the batteries, and the refrigerator runs off the batteries/battery charger. It's not an issue at all that the refer only supports 12 volts.

    Not sure where you get the RG-27 or RG29. I own an R25 Classic since 2019. Never heard the models have a letter between the R and the number. Other than that, a good comparison.

    The fans on the dash of the 29 are NOT heat. They are defrost/circulation fans. The Engine heat fan is down near the bottom of the fridge 😁

    It seem the 27 is a great weekend boat and the 29 is more long term if the extra cost is worth it to you. Plus, the command bride would be really nice. I do agree work on the boat is way easier on the outboard.

    • @Letsgochannelsurfing
      @Letsgochannelsurfing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fair enough! I consider the RT27-OB and the RT29 are both "10 day boats". Meaning, you can easily take them out for a 10 day extended trip. The size of the freshwater and waste water tanks for us last about 10 days. The house bank I didn't mention in the video, but the RT29 comes with 4 house bank batteries and the RT27-OB only has 2. This limits the RT27-Ob to a single overnight at anchor before the house battery bank must be recharged. The RT29 with 4 house batteries gets double the capacity (bigger boat, more space for more batteries). But this is easily solvable on the RT27-Ob with a solar panel upgrade to recharge the house bank during the day.

    Curious, when your cruising at 25 mph what kind of gas consumption are you getting? Also if your at WOT 35 mph what is that gas consumption?

    • @Letsgochannelsurfing
      @Letsgochannelsurfing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not mph... knots. 25knots is normal cruising on Channel Surfing, which is 30mph with a top speed of about 40-42mph. In general, we get about 1.5mpg, averaged out between slow boat and cruising (normal boating trips).
      In our 3blade vs 4blade propeller video I show a spreadsheet of the various speeds and fuel efficiency numbers in mph and mpg. If you haven't watched this video, you may find it interesting. Start at timestamp 19:30 for the fuel efficiency spreadsheet numbers.

    I like the sive of the 29 but the outboard on the 27. You can go to a Cutwater but I prefer the RT's.

    • @Letsgochannelsurfing
      @Letsgochannelsurfing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We love the outboard over the diesel inboard. We also love the look and feeling of the Ranger Tug over the Cutwater. But that Cutwater 32 with twin Yamaha F300's is a sweet ride. Very spacious boat too.

      Janet on Lemondrop who went to SE Alaska with us, she solo's a R27-OB. It can be done easily. It's also great for the great loop. I know of many who've done all or part of the loop on an RT27-OB.

    Great video and comparison, how about the pricing?

    • @Letsgochannelsurfing
      @Letsgochannelsurfing  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pricing is published on their website and it changes year to year. The 29 is quite a bit more expensive than the 27. It's not only 2 foot longer, but it's also 1.5 foot wider (10 foot beam). That additional width comes at a premium.

    What is the fuel burn between diesel and the outboard?

    • @Letsgochannelsurfing
      @Letsgochannelsurfing  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They're similar in fuel efficiency. The F300 on the RT27-OB will burn 27gph at WOT. Cruising speeds (25 knots) it is usually around 18gph. The R29 is going to cruise around 8 knots at 4gph. At 13 knots figure on 10gph. They both carry the same amount of fuel (about 150 gallons).

    The “Captain” obviously had his mind made up in favor of the R 27 as opposed to the R29 before he even made the video. This explains the 3/4 of the review being on the R 27. He was knowledgeable about the yachts however, but his review was skewed.

    • @Letsgochannelsurfing
      @Letsgochannelsurfing  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are absolutely correct. :) The captain owns an R27-OB. I am the captain. Lol. The R27-OB is the niche for our TH-cam Channel "Lets go channel surfing". We took our R27-OB to Glacier bay from Everett this past season. But I will say, the RT29 would be my second choice for a boat. We do like the 10' beam, the stateroom (not a v-berth) and the floor plan of the R29 is the same as the R27-OB. We just don't like the diesel engine, nor the slower speeds that the diesel boats travel at. There's also a considerable price delta between the R27-OB and R29. Boats are all about compromise.

    I wish the r27 had the front bed like the r29 does. I want the r27 because I can trailer it, but I want the front birth of the 29. I'm 6ft 6in tall. Only I can fit on that front birth I feel and 1 buddy can sleep in the rear birth and only a short friend can sleep on the upper table birth. 3 guys tops for a week trip to the Bahamas. Realistically,. You won't fit 2 people in that under birth or that table birth. If it's a man, woman, and 1 kid, then it's also realistic because let's face it, you won't be converting the table birth every single day.

    • @Letsgochannelsurfing
      @Letsgochannelsurfing  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      A stateroom would be nice on the R27. Though, that's the advantage of the 10' beam. But the C288 is a 10' beam and has a v-berth.

      @Letsgochannelsurfing yeah, i saw that. I was also looking up the solara 250 coupe. I really like that because of the 300 hp motor. I think its more like the r25 . It does have that v birth also though

    fuel economy? big difference

    • @Letsgochannelsurfing
      @Letsgochannelsurfing  หลายเดือนก่อน

      They're fairly similar. The diesel inboards are slightly more fuel efficient, but only because diesel has more energy per gallon than gasoline.
