That's the mold, when you lay up onto of your original part its going to bigger than the original....use mold realease and then fiberglass and lay up on the fender, first spray the fender with an epoxy gel coat. Let it get tacky and then lay up a 2 mat one woven with one Mat to cover the woven...you want the 2 ply of Matt to be against the fender....let it go off " dry"... then pop that off the fender. Use mold release on the piece you popped off. And lay up cf inside of it....there's your correct sized part ...I do this for a living...you can also brace the mold so it doesn't flex
Do you separate the fender from the cf once cured or is it just stay on the stock fender? Id like to make my own too but i want to cut weight for a track car not for street.
In order to separate it you need to do this same stuff but basically more steps. Apply a release agent on the fender before you put down the black gel coat. Second, you need to do 2-3 layers of carbon fiber, making the weave go in different directions so there is strength in every direction.
everything you get from amazon or ebay amazon more expensive , me i went to ebay so the cloth is about about 40$ a roll i got 2 just incase but really needed one but i did the inside my car too , the epoxy is more exspensive a gallon about 30-60$ but you dont need a gallon little goes a very long way! , then sanding material also wet sanding too then clear coat , as well paint brushes from the dollar store, me i spent about 120$ but thats fenders, my door panels and the inside my car too cloth can go a long way if you cut them to the part you want right

Yea but it could also be for looks. I think it's cool af. Doesn't look bad at all. Plus it's a bit more sturdy than a mold. I heard that molds tend to rattle or shake when driving at high speeds. This would definitely cut that rattle. 😅
Rename this video to *How to wrap your fender with carbon fiber and add some weight to your car*

Did you leave it on the fender??

@@joetroy2904 thank you for the response. Any chance you could make a video of that process?

@@UNDERFUNDEDGARAGE this is prolly late, but AJ Hartman on TH-cam has some good tutorials!
Для этого нужно сделать матрицу крыла, а уже по ней сделать само крыло из углеткани
Bro just noticed the car. Is it an evo 9? I have one and bought victory function finders...im going to do this before install.

But why do this? just to have the look ?
That’s fire 🔥 bro
Did you for real just skin the metal with carbon fiber?

Did you go to maxwell?!??😅
where part 2?
not carbon fiber wouldv been better to keep it shinny and use pva release and mold them
So this is a carbon overlay 😢
you should have a mask on so you don't damage your lungs breathing in carbon dust. 👍
Carbon lungs will make you lighter trust
you gotta carbon skin my roof on my next whip!
Foam brush much better than bristle brush
Is it? I'm trying to learn what materials to use to make molds or to apply the epoxy.
So you just added weight 😂 isn’t the point of carbon fiber to lose weight 😏
