Brilliant work. Good how you learned from the first wing where to improve the second wing. Good weight saving. They look a good finish to me. End of the day it’s a race car not a show car. Great work 👏
Glue gun sticks if you cut them to length ..drill out the centre if needed and can be used as spacers behind the wings where you need to bring them out to suit the existing panels...they work great...nice work guys and great info for the diy guys ...lovin this👌
I freaking love k11 micras!...when i was at university I was sooo broke - I bought a slightly dinged micra for £50 from a colleague at one of my part time jobs, who used it to teach her son to drive, hence the dings...I could barely afford fuel/insurance/road tax let alone service it so it went unserviced for 4 years & despite of which, it used to sail through its yearly MOT with only a hope & prayer on my part! Fantastic little cars!...I ended up giving it to my landlord in lieu of rent just as I started my first proper job out of university - he wanted it to teach his wife to drive. I'd like to think it's still cruising around, probably still not being serviced but stone cold reliable!
Hey guys I’m just tuning in now, I’m curious on what you layed down first before putting the carbon fiber composite. Is that the diolen? This was a great video by the way 🤩
Great job guys. Loving the vids. I'd be interested to see these tested at high speeds and whether you may need to strengthen them a little to stop them vibrating.
What did youse lay down on the wing first ? Also was a release agent used ?im considering making a set for my car but looking at yours they came out great so any tips would be ideal
This the same techquie people use to make carbon Lay overs on trim pieces ?? Beside removing the carbon trim, it just stays on the trim pieces then clear coated. Also how xome you guys never clear coated tge carbon after ??
Bolting the carbon against the nuts doesnt seem like a great idea to me. The small area that the clampng force of the bolt is spread over and the sharp corners of a nut is likely concentrating stress and would make the panel much more likely to break there.
The carbon fiber showing on the surface might be a pro move... If it is bumpy enough it might work like the golf ball surface, who knows how useful that might be though
Bit of a random question but what do you do if the bonnet you need to skin is from a larger car ie "Toyota supra" that you cant get the carbon cloth to cover the whole bonnet? If you skin the bonnet in x2 lengths of 1200mm carbon wouldn't you see the join/overlap in the center? Would you have to make a mould first in fiberglass so the overlap would be then on the inside of the bonnet?
@@RuskiWeldFab thanks buddy! I want to do the upper layer of my dashboard in carbon but I want to try and save the dash from being damaged as its rare and in good condition. Is there a way I can take a mold from it without damaging it? Every tutorial on yt people doing dashboard they always ruin/sacrifice the dash to build one in carbon

I want to make carbon fiber for my car as a project and I have no clue of anything. When i saw how the carbon fiber wing was done I was like thats terrible quality but theyre just the side wings, if it was the door i would have been like yeah they going to die.
One thing to consider is they did one layer with epoxy to get the shape. Cured then put on the car. For a quality finish you would then do 3 epoxy coats to get that carbon finsh you are thinking of.

Glad I could help!

Really interesting. I've got to get busy with some composites on my car soon. Glad I came accross your channel. 👊👊
Awesome, thank you!
ilya, wicked content as usual. this style of video is excellent and i enjoy the TOTB and time attack coverage as well. keep it up mate
Thanks mate
I want to do this for my MK2 Golf build. Nice job!
You should!
@@RuskiWeldFab I will be in touch with questions ❤️ Thanks for the inspiration. Subscribed!
what was the first layer? dialene?
Great job guys. Loving the vids. I'd be interested to see these tested at high speeds and whether you may need to strengthen them a little to stop them vibrating.
Wings already been tested and they need nothing!
Can confirm it’s al good!
@@RuskiWeldFab why you mad tho
Wait.. you’re making a k11 micra lighter? I wanna know what this thing weighs when you’re finished with it and is it the standard engine?
Head to @gizfab channel to find out
Great stuff I’ll be having a go at this on my little mr2
alright I will be doing this the coming weeks my wings are messed up might as well make new ones from carbon :)
Hope you enjoy
You shouldve covered it in peel ply and it wouldve been smoother right?
yes if "dry carbon" is the look you going for.
Loving the videos, what are the extended arches off they look really smart
sorry not sure to be honest. head over to @gizfab channel and ask him maybe
They are Nismo archs. old scholl stuff. We have the moulds for them.
@@GizFab Would LOVE a set, been looking for a year now. What do I need to do to acquire some :)
Why did you not vac bag the panels? I don't think you will get full strength without doing it.
not required

diolen and yes PVA release
I need some help that car example to replace original bonnet to carbon fiber without labour just material how much cost to finished dollars thanks
Not possible
Top job, keep going guys🏆
Thank you! Will do!
How many layers does this thingy have?
fantastic content, gents. New subscriber from the States

Correct. Process is the same. We wanted to save weight. Hence no clear coat
great job !
cheers
Hey guys could you please share a link where I can buy the roll of Carbon fibre layer and all the other stuff?
@easycomposites
what foam do you use that doesn't melt from epoxy cure?
So the layer you apply to the panel so the carbon panel can be removed is called eglass? Or diolen?
Its pva
Great stuff as always ❤️ is it possible to make more show car style pieces at home? I think some fancy Ruski Carbon RS4 parts videos 😘
yeah. just needs more time and effort with polishing etc
Insane weight saving, wish I can afford Ilyas expertees one day. Have you considered marking your parts with your logo on the inside ?
i have! my roof has my old logo on the inside!
Bolting the carbon against the nuts doesnt seem like a great idea to me.
The small area that the clampng force of the bolt is spread over and the sharp corners of a nut is likely concentrating stress and would make the panel much more likely to break there.
nah it works well to be fair
Can you share the product you use to make this please where can i get this stuff
@easycomposites

overlap will be on both sides. you just have to make it a very neat one. or find 1.5m sheet

Wrap it first.
Nice. they are just a bit bigger than the original
difference is negligible on race car
What did you use for the bottom layer? I have tried to search for it but I can't find anything with that name
The captions spell it as darling but I don't think that's correct
its called Diolen. but you can use e-glass as well

youtube is all you need for learning
You're gonna need aero to keep this on the floor just to stop a light gust of wind from blowing it away when stationary!
That's a great idea!
How much does the materials cost to do 2 wings
It really does depend. We bought in bulk to do everything. So hard to say for sure how much just for the wings
