I just Descaled my Kureig with Vinegar after you hold down 8,12 buttons while machine is off you pour in 36 oz Vinegar and hit K it will display descale 6x and machine will shut off . I then hold 8,12 buttons and repeat with water to clean machine and the machine will shut off meaning descale is over . Sometimes it takes longer like 6x vinegar or descaling solution, then 6x with reg water to clean out the system of solution or vinegar. then brew and enjoy your cup of Joe
I followed your instructions after doing it wrong the first time. Finally after several cycles, THAT damn light turned off. I'm sure I will return to this video in three months time. TFS
The Keurig descaler bottle says to run the 50/50 descaler bottle and water through twice at 12oz then LET IT SIT FOR 30 MINUTES. That way it has time to dissolve the scale - the video doesn't mention that. Also, the instructions say to run water through 12 times, but my DESCALE mode only required six times at 12oz. That being said, thank you for the informative video because the instructions don't detail how to press both of the buttons to enter descale mode in the first place.
*Gracious.* Mine has been blinking for over 6 months and I notice my parents' other type of slim model is also doing the same. *I suspect the critical difference of operation when it descales is increased water temperature.*
There is a class action lawsuit filed this past September about the defect in the descale cycle that causes the machine to overheat and shut down. It's happened to me, I just disassembled and reset the machine. Now when I descale I just watch the water level and make sure it runs very low but not dry. I imagine the lawyers will get a payday out of this and consumers will get a coupon or something. yay. From a news article "The problem occurs because the coffee makers allow the water reservoir to empty completely during the descaling process without stopping to tell the user to add more water, causing them to overheat, the lawsuit says. The only way for the Coffee Makers to be brought back to life is to disassemble them and use a paperclip to depress a miniscule reset button in the center of the thermal switch, it states. @@ShelbyPaget @MC It's super annoying. The key is to watch the reservoir while it's descaling. You have to let it get very low but not run out. Vinegar is great for getting some lime scale off some of the internals however running several cycles of olive oil or canola oil will lubricate all the internals of the pump and lines. My keurig pumps like day one and it’s over 15 years old. Don’t knock it until you have tried it.
Hmmm, that light has never come on, but it is making funny noises at the end of the cycle. I was wondering if it needed descaling. @@FIXITHomeImprovementChannelok, now the next question...when does it stop rescale mode? I did a whole tank (didn’t even flash “add water”), started another one and still the “Descale” and blinking K light. I cannot turn it off anymore. I hope I didn’t mess it up. I will keep rinsing but hoping it ends soon!
Thanks for your helpful instructions!!😊✅

My descaler light won’t quit flashing as directed in your video. I have the same
Machine
Hi, I would try filling the water reservoir again and press brew to keep rinsing out the descaler. If that doesn't clear it after draining the reservoir, unplug the unit and plug it back in. You can press and hold both the 8 oz and 10 oz cup buttons simultaneously for a a few seconds on some models to reset the unit.
Let it sit after running the 50/50 viniger solution through...for 30 minutes. Then start rinse cycles.
I have the same one and when I push the 8oz and 12oz with the power off it dies nothing.
Hi, just brew 12 ounces at a time until Add Water lights up, then fill the water reservoir and rinse by brewing water only until Add Water lights up.

How much descaler should we pour in there? The whole bottle?
Hi, depends on the product. Some are a full bottle and a full bottle of fresh water.
So after descaling my Keurig stopped working. It will not turn back on no matter what I try 😭 It’s 5 mo old.
Hi, I would give Keurig a call for your model, I've found them to be helpful. 1-866-901-BREW(2739)

What if this doesn’t work? Is there another way to do it? How long does it usually take to descale? I don’t hear anything
Hi, you can use a descaling solution. You are just running the solution through the machine to clean it. You could probably get the same result by filling the reservoir with the solution and filling cups until it's empty, then rising.

Last time I saw this video and it worked but now the machine is making weird noises, nothing is coming out 😢😢😢
Hi, try resetting the unit by pressing the power button to turn it off. Then unplug the unit. Remove the water reservoir and wait a few minutes. Plug the unit in, then press the power button to turn it on. Wait a minute then replace the water reservoir filled with water.
Let me know if that helps.
Thank you, your video helped me through it.

every 3 months I come to this video because I always forget
But I don't have an on/off button
Hi, what model do you have?
Why the need to descale? I don't get it
Hi, it helps prevent a buildup of minerals from water and residue from coffee. Manufacturers recommend routine descaling to improve the taste of your drinks and extend the life of the unit.
