Another helpful tip is, if you use purified water to make your coffee you will avoid needing to descale altogether. Pure Life water is the most filtrated water you can buy, as it is filtrated with a 12 step process before being bottled.
Thank goodness I came across your video!! My coffee tasted bitter this morning and I noticed the descale light was lit up.. can’t seem to find the darn user manual or any of the cleaning stuff that I’m sure came with the box. Nothing like a more natural way of cleaning things anyways!! Thank you!!
Your video is such a saving grace for my family this morning... We had the descale notification light appear after brewing a cup and since we do not have the cleaning solution on hand, your video taught us about using vinegar, and we're all so grateful. 💯❤️ Thank you for explaining every step so clearly and showing us how easy it can be done! 🥰 Hope you have a great day! 🌻
Thank you for this suggestion. Sure beats spending $42 for 2 bottles of the Keurig solution. I find that when I descale my brewer it’s also a good time to change the filter.
Thank you so much for your video. I've tried descaling my Keurig following other videos, it did not remove the descale light. Your video helped remove the descale light, finally. 😊
I used 100% vinegar and put it back in its bottle. Then I used distilled water for the clean out and put it back in its bottle and good to go 😁 not really worried about the vinegar eating the plastic as the exposure time is very low.
The vinegar is too acid it was they say and it damages the plastic tubing and it doesn't clean as well as "coffee descaler" products. I just re-watched it. @@PennyPincherPantry
I was reading online about it too and it does say it's a mild acid and over a LONG time it could happen, but it say it's still ok to use. Different folks Different Strokes
@janislero5129 it goes off automatically at the end of the full descale cycle. One round of descale (vinegar & water), one round of rinse, then no more light. At the beginning of the process, you have to make sure to press the 8 & 12 oz buttons at the same time to put it into descale mode. I hope this explanation helps.
●●● 2.0 model, Cannot push 2 buttons at one time to start descale. Those are the Keurig directions. Not possible as 2.0 has NO BUTTONS. I will run 1/2 White vinager and 1/2 water and follow your simple instructiins.❤
My problem is my machine just shuts off before anything can get running. Also, I don't have the same machine so I will have to look up the manual. Thanks anyway. For better hygiene, you would also need to not be touching the interior components, respectfully.

Indeed, very good point Steve

Thanks for the instructional video. I’ve been blowing this process off for months now and it was very easy to follow your directions.
@@jeffhempel7103 I'm glad you found it helpful.
Thanks Cathy, I like your version as it cleans best using a tank full of vinegar vs several ounces. Thanks again!
You are so welcome!
You didn’t mention how much vinegar you put into the tank?
Brilliant! Thank you for this video.

I'm glad it helped you and finally got that descale light to go away. Have a blessed day.
Morning Cathy! Thank You for this Video. You have such a winning smile and pleasant countenance. Have a Blessed Day!
Thank you! You too!

Thanks for sharing. I agree with you about the exposure time not being long enough to worry about damage to the plastic parts.
This was so helpful. Thank you so much!
You're so welcome!
Cathy thank you so much worked like a charm
@@TinyDancer-wz5br you're very welcome. I'm glad you found the video helpful.
Great video ! Thank you much ❤️🥰
Thank you, I actually bought the descaling kit and it provides no instructions on how to descale. Imagine that
Pull back the label on the solution bottle
Super helpful, thank you so much
Does the clear cleaning vinegar work if I don’t have “white vinegar”?
@kaltrex9465 yes, cleaning vinegar would work just fine.
Chemical-y is the word of the day.
Thank you so much for this!
You're so welcome!
Thanks!! Very helpful
Thank you very much!
Thank you. So helpful!
I always used vinegar but America’s test kitchen says it eats up plastic components and damages your machine so I don’t do it anymore
That's interesting. I'll need to look into that.

How do you turn off the d scale light

You’re so sweet. Ty
You'll get better results with a tablespoon of citric acid (used when you can tomatoes) and 4 cups of water.
@@gradymark thanks, I'll try that the next time I have to descale.

vinegar diluted with water IS a descaling solution. Your title is misleading. Good video but very misleading, honestly.
Thank you!!
