This also looks like it would be perfect for elderly people who EXTREMELY don't understand the internet. Family of theirs could set one of these up so all they have to do is tap a single button to bring up whatever video call app, a button that brings up a recipe book, or a button that launches a photo album. Stuff like that.

Every OBS control can easily be performed with any generic macro pad. But yes, the Elgato tax does offer screens for each button. Obviously there are pros and cons you should weigh. Not the least of which, I'm sure, is the price.

What a concise and useful report. No BS. Clear and fair assessment and suggestions. Thanks. I'd always wanted a system control panel for Startrek and similar games (arm / launch torpedoes, com PTT button, Sensor scan etc) since I bought them in the 80s - but the tech then had 8x8 or so resolution on programmable buttons and I'd have to write code to control and use them. This looks very cool for business and fun. I expect to see how it does with my DAW for music production. p.s. your knife looks scary sharp.

I bought one of these last week with the idea of using it for programming the buttons for flight sim key commands. Not only does it do that well, I've also set up profiles for my favourite historical wargames and my I.T./programming studies. Making custom icons is a piece of cake too. This is one of the best peripheral purchases I've ever made.

I've had the 15-button version for a long time and I later upgraded to the 32-button version.
I did that because i play a lot of shortcut-heavy games like satisfactory, factorio, elite dangerous and so on.
As a shortcut keyboard in games, it is at least worth every penny twice over!
You can also have it switch to layouts when you focus on a program like a game or a video editor. This makes it even more fun if you use multible softwares at the same time. ;-)

The Stream Deck is incredibly useful. My music teacher uses it to control his software so he doesn’t need to touch the keyboard or mouse often. But it is expensive. For those that can’t afford a Stream Deck, I’ve found the Touch Portal app to be a good alternative if you don’t mind getting into details and doing the nitty-gritty of setting it up from scratch yourself.

Now I have a selection of buttons for five different clip speeds, saves a lot of time if you're making regular changes.

As a streamer, and mod in 22 channels, and variety gamer. I use the Stream Deck 2 for EVERYTHING, launching games, audio balancing (as per game to game varies)... A LOT!
I use it for moderator tools on Twitch, I see when people go live, viewer count, I also got is set to see when my fav youtubers post something.
And I use it for in game shortcuts. ABS, TCS, lights, brake bias, etc in racing sims. I am also currently setting it up for changing classes on cod.
I must say though, I have programmed well over 300 buttons, and I have barely had a break since Sunday. (Currently 3:40 am Thursday...)
BUT, in the long run, this will save me countless hours, 100% worth it!

It's very useful as a macro pad for sure! I mainly use mine for website shortcuts, controlling my lights as well, OBS for recordings and scene switching, and miscellaneous things additional actions come with, like CPU usage, mouse coordinates, and the color of the current pixel. I haven't thought of using it to launch programs yet, so I will definitely consider trying that eventually and other things that look useful. I currently hit the Windows key and quickly type in the program without thinking about it and AutoHotkey for common programs and shortcuts using my left hand. Would also consider it as well.

i'm really looking forward to more (real) compaction entering the market, so the prices come down. stream decks are absolutely awesome, but they are painfully overpriced considering the simplicity of the hardware and software, and the mediocre build quality/materials.
The price exists solely because there isn't any real competition, and the stream decks are handy enough they can get away with it

Great video. Very helpful. I've been wanting one, but I'm not a streamer. More for work. I'll be getting one now. Thank you!!!

Just a heads up, got one yesterday and there is actually 8 different heights. There is 2 additional legs in the back of the stand for shorter heights if you don't like it at a sharper angle.

Took the words right out of my mouth, This device is the quick launch king while at the same time adding sexy flair to your gaming setup. Instead of having 500+ icons littering my screen and tie up my 2 side docks, I can use this to launch Games, Play music, Open folders I need for Modding, Tools etc... This dock pays for itself in convince instantly.

Loving my deck already. I have it set to pull up my security cameras when I hear the chimes go off. It's surprisingly faster than the app I have on my phone.
