Stream Deck, Stream Deck XL, and Stream Deck+. Other than scene switching in OBS, I use them for: Discord Channel surfing, Twitch channel surfing, audio control (Stream Deck+ and Wave Link), keeping track of different time zones, and buttons that enter text into chat with links that support my friends. I use those features almost every day. I produce shows in multiple time zones, so having something where I can see time zones next to each other is amazing. Thanks for the video.

Streamdeck mini, I love that little thing so much! I don't have to grab my mouse anymore while DJ'ing :o The most used button for me is the one that shows the artwork of my originals in VR with a single press. I feel bad for not picking up a streamdeck sooner!

I have 2 StreamDecks, one for each streaming setup.
Changing scenes is something that I do the least often, almost never. I use the buttons for enabling and disabling audio sources, hiding and showing and switching cameras, on screen graphics, incrementing counters, starting and stopping and switching timers, and some mod actions like Followers Only mode and starting a raid if I have a predetermined target.
Most common use is to mute/unmute my mic.

    1. Viewer count button
    2. Plugin showing who's live so I can just use that to raid into them
    3. CPU usage
    4. One page showing different time zones and weather
    5. Magic 8ball to show on stream as a channel point redemption
Never realized the speediest plugin before this. Thanks so much! Having that running every few minutes is awesome.

I’ve actually been using it more for flight simulator than streaming lately. I set it up to do pretty much whatever I want in the sim, but I use it mostly for quickly switching between different camera views. I also use it to control my lights, and I’m gonna see how I can make it work for me in my DAW as well.

What I use the most: jump between the scenes, make a clip with Atrium vertical, mute, hide/unhide camera, show/hide certain sources. I never thought of the idea with the light like you shoed in this video, this is genius! Gonna try it tonight:)

My best friend loves streaming since I set up all her hotkeys on the stream deck. They manage her Vtuber model, her scenes, hue lights, discord user volume, etc.
I even made a very lengthy macro that sets up her OBS, Vtube studio, and all the other stuff she needs for streaming. Resizes the windows too to make the best use of space on her screen.

  • @adesiree

I use mine for helping me with coding, with repeating actions, swapping between IDEs and projects. When streaming, I use my stream deck for sound effects, scenes, widgets, minigames, autoban bots, speed test, for moderating other channels, recording a specific source, screenshoting everything or a specific source, having a preview on what friendly channels are live, and a lot more (including my own Stream Deck plugins). And, most importantly, because I'm legally deaf, I use it for adjusting my audio for my end alone.

I have the 32 button streamdeck. In my effort to up my streaming game, I've got a full 8 page set up for pages, scenes, sounds, animations, poses, cameras, and facial expressions for my Vtubing models. I come from a tech theatre background, so I've been spending my time recently converting that workflow for myself via streaming, and the utility of the streamdeck.

Don't you need a Philips Hue Bridge in order to use the smart plug? Or am I missing something? The bridge isn't required if the stream deck can somehow connect to it via bluetooth, but that isn't possible.

Just started using my so still adding and learning about how to use it/which plugins to get for more functions and stuff.
But i use it so far for gaming and recording plus for using it as a sound effects board for during a gaming session of COD DMZ.
Still going to ad and chance it overtime because like I said before still learn what you all can do with it plus which plugins to get.
Loving it so far even with the beginners issues i had with the software issues/errors but got the best software/gear support from Elgato I never had from other companys i dealt with before so they made a life-time Elgato fan/supporter for the service support that they gave, They want all customers to enjoy their products and help you out if something goes wrong and will help you step by step to getting it fixed!
    Elgato Stream Deck XL
Using Elgato software 6.4.1 because for me version 6.5.0 does'nt work on my PC (Windows 10) even when i went to Windows 11 had the same problem but because of the help from Elgato I now know what to do if i ever have this issue again when i upgrate to the next version after version 6.5.0

The primary use for my stream deck is actually debugging and navigating code. I also use it to monitor the status of my SSH connections so I can start stop or restart them as needed as well as perform scheduled tasks like popping up a Windows notification to remind me to take a break and go walk the dog. I also play Fallout 4 religiously with hundreds of mods and I have around 80 hot keys (several for Place Everywhere) for various items, actions and scripts tied to a gaming profile. This will let me toggle the free camera, pause the game, adjust the camera speed, and then move the camera around and toggle my ENB effects for the perfect screenshot then quickly resume gameplay. Plus: Voice mod and Discord controls so while I'm streaming my gameplay I can make my character dance and play an audio clip on an event, etc. I'm currently setting it up to use Bitsoft Companion to control my Linux machine which I will be using to do the streaming on a dual PC streaming setup with a single controller while I game on Windows. Bonus: I use the G6 key on my Corsair K100 to swap my Corsair RGB Pro into sniper mode for quick headshots.

I have a Streamdeck XL and a Mini. I use mine primarily for work productivity (under Linux, not Windows, not macOS). My first page controls all of my applications (Zoom, Meet, Teams, Mattermost, Slack, Discord, Salesforce, etc). A button press will find the app running on any virtual desktop, target it, and then switch to public channels or DMs.
For meeting apps, I can mute/unmute, turn on/off my camera, and go from presenter to non-presenter mode. I also control my Govee lights and plugs around the office with the first page. I control the Govee lights via API, and my Sonoff S31 smart plugs via Tasmota open source firmware.
The second page of my XL is a dial-by-face PBX for my teammates. The first press launches a DM to that user in our chat system. A second button press (within a second) will dial them via our PBX phone system. The third page controls all of the timers I need for timecards via Timular and Toggl timers. Start/Stop timers via API, launch Toggl desktop, sync via Timular, etc.
I also programmed a handful of buttons to stuff in boilerplate (frequently used) text prompts and replies for emails and customer cases. This includes my default email signature as well as some editable standard replies. I have several other pages of useful productivity, business functions for apps and app productivity.
I have 10 pages of 32 buttons on my XL (320 actions) and the same 10 pages for my Mini (60). I also use these to control my cameras and OBS scenes for both meetings and livestreaming. This is where most people will be using their Streamdeck.
It's a FANTASTIC productivity tool, and I really wish Elgato/Corsair would support Linux with their configuration app, but until then I am using the various open source/community alternatives out there.

I have a few multi action buttons setup for different things
    - Launching all my stream related programs at once, with a single button (huge time saver
    - Go live, switch scene and run an ad
I have a button for a spin the wheel channel point redemption I have
    Several scene change buttons
Timers for various time based channel point redemptions
Laugh track and a celebration visual with sound effect
A button that activates a slow zoom plugin in OBS whilst playing very motivational and dramatic music
That's about it - I'd say the use cases for scene changing is more common and thus used more, but I get good use out of all the other stuff as well

I do online tutoring using OBS virtual cam so yes half of my buttons are switching scenes to show different material that I have open in photoshop, acrobat, browser, etc. The other half are: one just always shows the current time in Japan (where my students are), open photoshop or other programs, hang up a call, automatically type the greeting I always use before I call them.
I'm excited to explore my stream deck more and get more use out of it (especially the dials which do nothing rn)!

The 15 is connected to my StreamPC, and basically will be used for starting/stopping streams, switching scenes, and also tweaking audio if needed.
The XL is hooked up to my GamerPC. The top row is basically locked to certain pages. Like page 8 is for Programs. I have a set of basic programs that I want to make sure I run while gaming. I use the Advanced Launcher plugin for this, where I show a dot if the program is running. I can quickly go to that page to make sure everything is running that I need at a quick glance of the icons.
Other pages I use for launching games, going to specific (favorited) websites. And since I have multiple monitors, I use the plugin Windows Mover to either move active window to another monitor.
But let's say I want to switch a game from my monitor to my TV. A click of a button and it's done. No need to go into like the game settings and say I want it showing on this device.

With the Philips smart plug, a Philips hue bridge is also required for it to pair to a stream deck. Just bought the plug by itself and found out the hard way. FYI for anybody that didn't know

    I love the Stream Deck.
I use it for video editing, Home Automation with Home Assistant, switching scenes (of course :-) ), turning nvidia noise reduction, Elgato Facecam blur, changing output between headphones and speakers.
There's an MS Teams plugin now too, although it's had some issues and doesn't work for me at the moment.

Random use I found: I use it to make lead sheets when I have to make one from scratch with metadata. I can just set a text buttons on the stream deck with whatever chords I need in a song, and then push the button to add text like [C#] or [Esus]. I even have a folder for various keys setup so when I need to make a new song, I just load it up and get to editing. Saves me a little time by clicking where I need the chord and just hitting the button instead of copying and pasting whichever one I need at the time.

I use my stream deck + to launch different sets of apps for my job. It also lets me control app audio for meetings and such. It’s been a major efficiency & quality of life improvement for me. Oh and I monitor my Mac’s performance so I know if I’ve got too much stuff open. V dope.

A few of the things I have set up and use are a soundboard with several folders of sounds, I set up an audio folder to mute/deafen discord as well as muting each of my audio sources in obs if needed, this was added after in game people spew hate when they know you're streaming, I use cam buttons for zoom or to turn my cam on/off, spotify, and twich folder for markers, clips and shoutouts. That is a short list of what I use mine to do

I have 3 (underutilized) decks, my original 15 button deck in black, the newer 15 button in white and the Plus. I have a 5 camera setup for streaming Go using a floor goban to mirror the games played on OGS (online Go server). I use my decks primarily for scene switching, but also Key Lights, opening websites, and FaceCam controls. I use the multi action for building intro and outro graphics to my videos. I recently build a new computer for video editing with Davinci Resolve, but haven’t gotten around to setting up buttons and knobs on the Plus for that yet (soon). Enjoy your content and presentation.

I'm a tournament caster for a small mobile game - my stream deck allows me to manage scoreboards, update the overlay with team names and logos, and more. I also use it to automate my stream's starting & ending routines (source volumes, music, discord pings)

    Oxford definitions:
knobs - a round handle on a door or a drawer. a round lump on the surface or end of something
dials - the face of a clock or watch, or a similar control on a machine, piece of equipment or vehicle that shows a measurement of time, amount, speed, temperature, etc.

    - I created shortcuts for Adobe apps instead of using my keyboard.

I'm blind and I use several accessibility applications on Mac and PC. The hotkey combinations to increase magnification or turn speech on and off can almost tie your fingers in knots. I've set up single-key presses for the common ones. Also very handy to trigger Power Automate flows to do things like open up applications and navigate to specific pages or functions.

I have the Elgato Stream Deck MK.2. I don't even use mine to change scenes haha, but for a lot of other stuff! I use it to mute/unmute mic, change outfits for my vtuber, play sound alerts/animations on stream for fun live editing, adjust audio volume on different apps, and more. It's great!

I use mine as a series of multi-action buttons. Opening a few apps at a time for MMO gaming with things like FFXIV, or Star Citizen. I have a Music folder for music controls for spotify and another folder for chrome shortcuts that take me straight to some of my favorite URLs like Crunchyroll, TH-cam, or D&D Beyond for example. I have a screenshot button and also Window Mover button that moves any active window to a separate monitor with specific dimensions. This is great for my Portrait monitor where I can't "Win + Left" or "Win + Right" to quickly resize/lock programs into half of my monitor. All that with just a 6 button mini!

I’ve got the standard 15 button in my home office, and the 32 button at work. I use them 98% of the time for repetitive task as work such as moving emails to certain folders in outlook, preforming merge and center and then centering again in excel, and so on. I also write longer macros for jumping between programs and imputing data. The last 2% is for video calls and instructing online.

I made a custom recording studio that allows the computer to be in one room and anyone can go in, press one button to turn on the camera, lights, confidence monitor, then record, go live, screenshare etc. But not only that, it’s all connected to a Dropbox folder that I get instantly so I can edit and upload in a few min from them stopping their recording. A lot of other custom stuff like overlays, a bookmark button that has audio time stamps (so I don’t need to scrub through to look for mistakes), a screenshot button for thumbnails, etc. My company has been able to put out TH-cam videos pretty much daily because it’s all done in the studio and requires very little editing. Building another one of these studios for another company soon too. OBS and a Streamdeck has not only made my workflow so much better, but it’s become another form of income as well (for building setups for businesses)

Finally got the stream deck + storm trooper addition. Currently creating folders to house certain functions i want available during stream. Then created separate profiles to handle editing. Then the "knobs" are stackable so I can press the "knob" to scroll through sources and adjust volumes and tap the touch screen to mute if need be. One deck to rule them all.

Yes, I use my 15-key Stream Deck to change scenes, but also to send certain messages in chat, open programs or games I regularly play, play sound effects, and more. Used to use to in set camera filters and turn them off and on, but now that SnapCam is gone, no more of that LOL (it ate up CPU anyway). But there are a ton of good ideas here I want to implement as soon as I get my PC back up and running again.

It's also fantastic to switch between headset/speakers, mute, volume up/down, monitoring the battery level of my headset, displaying the time and date. Perfect for productivity!

1 Setting up my room for streaming
This includes light on/off, sound output, opening sites in browser, mute Discord/TS and moves windows to front or background
    2 Stream control
    Scenes ofc
Cam on/off, mute audio sources, play ads, turn on ventilation for my room, play sound effects, save replays with OBS relay buffer, switch from desktop capture to game capture, turn alerts off and on, chat messages presets and moving windows to front or background
    3 Light control
All lighting in my room. Ceiling is Hue, Nano Leafs and the cat grass station lamp goes with a Hue smart socket. So does the room ventilation.
I am using Touch Portal tho but same deal. ;)

Yes I use it to control scenes/OBS overall, but I also use it to control and jump in/out of Discord Channels (my most accessed ones, as well as the volume mixer if I have it minimized during a recording or stream), Sensor Bleep, Soundboard/Voices for VoiceMod, YT Music Controller, and I even have the little Magic 8 Ball just for some fun.

BTW, using the Advance Scene Switcher plug-in for OBS and setting up a bunch of macros you can expand the capability of the streamdeck way past what the default buttons can do. I set up a layer or blank text that the stream deck button can toggle on and off. The advanced scene switcher can then do a multitude of advanced things my stream deck couldn’t before. Mainly since the streamdeck can’t get feedback from OBS but the macros can. Pretty cool stuff

For work we have twelve 32 button stream decks. I stream roughly 200+ college sports a year. I use two 32 stream decks per stream (plus an Xbox controller) with vMix. The left deck is my control deck. Switching 8 buttons for cameras (4 program and 4 preview), 8 buttons for replay and the rest are other helpful buttons. The right are for my graphics. I can use live game stats in conjunction with Excel and it takes two buttons on stream deck to cut 4-5 seconds out of the process (rather than spend thousands on automated software).
