Lol, that’s so true! I’ve been thinking about “upgrading” the stick in my airplane with one of these actually, but all those buttons would look a bit funny in a GA aircraft...
I honestly felt like the cheapo Saitek yoke was put together better than the yoke on an old Cessna I flew once. Definitely more comfortable than the real thing. In terms of feel, however, you've got to lay down real money to get anything even a little bit like aerodynamic stick forces. Cheap sticks and yokes feel terrible on-center. Can't wait for my Virpil to get here!
That was a great review. I've finally fine-tuned my Thrustmaster Warthog to feeling much like you described - no oscillation, smooth and long range of motion thanks to an extension and Nyogel lubricant. But even though my Thrustmaster feels amazing... This review put the VKB on my wishlist. You described exactly the thing that anyone who has actually flown an aircraft cares about, and no other nonsense.
This was extremely helpful, the explanation of the influence of the flight control over the control surfaces, and vice versa was something I've not seen touched on before. Will definitely be looking at these controls in future, I bought their pedal set, and it's really, really well made for the price.
Thank you! Keep in mind that VKB is working on Force Feedback base for theirs grips, so you can buy any joystick you like soon and will be able to switch to the FFB later on, when it's released! Happy flying!
psychosculptor well you just said you liked it. Maksim showed why it was good in a very convincing way. So well that VKB most likely sells a more sticks from it. So yes. VKB should consider giving Maksim a discount. You... not so much.
Thanks a lot! The joystick I want to buy compared to the one I currently own. With the point of view of an experience flight simer and a real pilot. You give to the viewer a good look of the mechanism and what the damper do. You did a really good no nonsense review, thumbs up!
Great review and the fact that you're a real pilot backs up what you say. Cool that you included personal flight footage. Kudos. Very interested in this; looks like a really great product, especially with the extension.
FlyingNutcase Thank you very much! Product is really nice, that's true. But to be absolutely happy with simulators, I think everyone needs force-feedback)!
Looks really good. I ordered one from VKB a few months ago only to have it cancelled by them earlier in the year. Bastards. I really want one.....especially after this review. You are one lucky guy. Enjoy it!
Looks good. You’ll need to do another review in a couple of years time to show how the wear has been on it. I use the Warthog and apart from some minor tweaks it’s still kicking on after 5 years. Would be nice to know how this holds up. Nice vid as well. Very explanatory. Thanks.
Great review Maksim. I'm not a DCS or Combat simmer but I am a real world private pilot and like MSFS to keep myself sharp on procedures and instrument flying. I'm always on the look out for new and better hardware. I never gave this stick a second thought until your review, now maybe there is a combat sim in my future...;-)
denny thomas thank you)! I hope you will find something new and interesting for yourself in Combat Simulators. I'm flying them mostly not because of the battle, I like the way how you can fly such a nice powerful machines with outstanding flight performances!
Very interesting and educational video. I'm into joysticks since childhood but I've never learned so much about them in so few minutes. Guess that leaves me no choice but to save money for one of these gunfighters.
I bought my first CH Products fighter Stick in the 90's, and only upgraded to the current version as I needed USB. CH Products are rock solid, and love them. After watching your video review I think I might try out this stick. Will check out your other video's and hopefully find one about the software to program the button's as that is very important part of the setup. THANKS
Well I'm a pilot and I do like flying)! So I haven't spent a lot of time clicking around software. I just did a basic calibration and after that I was able to map all buttons directly in the Sim. But this software let you do almost everything. But I do like straight forward things, cause I did a lot of negative G, that why Im not smart enough;))
Thank you so much for your kind words. But I think for me it's more important to give a hand to the good product. Even this joystick is good it's still from the past. It's a shame that the joystick industry is not developing fast enough and in a right way. So I'm about to make a new video about this.
That was the best review I have seen for a very very longtime. Well presented and product knowledge was exemplary! Would one of this company's joysticks be suitable for a beginner to sim flying?
It doesn't actually matter, if you are beginner or well trained pilot. It's a matter of what you want to get. If you want to have a more realistic experience of the control, go for it. As a bonus, every beginner will appreciate the extended stick because its much easier to control virtual aircraft with it
*The Virtual Engineering Bureau bull's-eyed the sidestick configuration* that I presume first used on the Sukhoi-37LL pilot-controls test bed, a few-off build from the Flanker platform that spawned the Su-34 interdictor as well as the Su-27/30/33 fighter interceptors. I's after a center-stick design with the air-brake handle pivoted on the column extension - where it is on actual Russian tactical aircraft since the Mikojan-Gurevich-15 (which used a reverse-engineered German KG-13 control grip) - and an actual pinky button (used in Russian helos as a hover-mode toggle, and in pre-Product-10 MiGs as a centerline fuel tank jettison) as well as the MCG Pro's other switchgear. Only quibble I have about the MCG-Pro otherwise is the lack of a green button, historically used to delineate an automatic level-off mode in several Frontal tactical jets, at the top right.

I play "Star Citizen" (Alpha) with duel Thrustmaster T16000Ms (left and right handed) but due to Yaw (Z axis / twist) motion failures I'm looking for a new stick like the Gladiator Mk II but it's missing a left handed stick? You indicated there's a modifier button to access additional buttons, is that correct? ;-)
It's all about software. Basically you can assign everything to everything) I'm not sure what you are talking about. It might be, I was telling about "Hat" that can be used as a mini-joystick, which is true. Anyway, I think for you setup even better to get LH+RH Cosmosima from VKB or new LH+RH Constellation-ALPHA from Virpil-controls (this new product looks great).
The “VKB Kosmosima Space Combat Grip Sneak Peek” shows configurations that either one I’d like to get (if the price wasn’t outlandish? It also looks like (top image) this configuration isn’t available (@ 6-21-2018 )? It's likely, neither are available.
Great review but what about the trottle that makes part of the HOTAS system that every dedicated sim pilot out there wants and needs to call his/her´s?
I think that the throttle is really personal thing. It's up to you which functionality or design you will choose. I don't know how to compare it to the real thing, cause I haven't flown anything that has more than two buttons on the throttle. For me it is just a lever or 6 of them. I do like how warthog throttle looks, but I'm using my CH Throttle quadrant)
2 Questions: 1. since there are a lot of mechanical components - is there some sort of manual on how to put it together the way you like and how to calibrate? 2. stick looks awesome - especially with an extension, but what about the throttle/hotas - what would you recommend with this stick?
Foxhound482 1. It's already assembled from factory. All you need to do is to attach stick itself to the base. No special skill required, and manual is in the box. 2. This joystick has no throttle. I'm using a simple CH-product Throttle qudrant.
PLEASE, at 0:17, what is this simulator ? I remember I used to fly it at a schoolfriend's home when I was 15, which is not exactly recent ! Many thanks in advance for your answers !
Hi! This is LHX. Modern, I would even say, futuristic helicopter simulator. I was amazed how detailed it was in 3D, in the times of its. I liked it very much! Thank you for sharing your experience)!
@@maksimsavelev5478 Thank you ! And thank you also for this review, I might consider this option for DCS (at the moment I use the plastic one by Thrustmaster).
How does the stick compare to force feedback like the Microsoft Sidewinder 2? I have a sidewinder, but the feedback can "tick" for no reason (force pulsates when it should be constant sometimes, i assume its the motors). Was wondering if a spring system like this holds up realistically.
The main two features of the force-feedback are : a moveable center of the load, and a changable load(from 0 to max tension). Unfortunately there is nothing like this system. So, looking forward to a get nice force-feedback system from VKB or someone else.
Yeah, looks very similar. Which is very promising. The MFG pedals are so smooth that you can "think" left and right with them, if you know what I mean. Same with a TM Warthog stick if you polish, lube and extend it. But even so, I really kinda want this stick too now.
k storm Hello! Thank you, glad you like this video. Well, I'm flying a lot of different airplanes and couple of helicopters in general aviation, but my pilot's salary is not that high, that I can buy one of them))! But if I could, I'm not sure that I can choose which one to buy, cause I flew so many of them, and they're so different. So it's really difficult to find the only one for all purposes)).
Maksim Savelev thanks for the reply. I've always wanted to be a pilot but I worry about how many jobs would be available by the time I'm old enough. I wish you the best of luck in your flying and career!
i have a terribly stupid question about rudder pedals. if i push the left pedal forward does the plane yaw left, and do the rudders work the same way in Helicopters?
That's right. On you pushing your right leg together with pedal, airline does yaw left in general, bit it also will affect your bank and other they. Helicopter does the same
Excellent review! I just bought the same stick! Since you are a real pilot, what cams and spring settings do you recommend for the most like real life?
Hello Maksim, you review was amazing. What springs and tensioners are you using? I just got the MCG Ultimate here and can’t get the same behavior from the stick. Im using 2x50 springs and dampers at 50%, it oscillate a lot.
Hello Rafael. That's sad to hear that. I think the problem is in the weight of Grip itself. It's almost twice heavier than my one therefore not enough stopping forces to prevent it from oscillation. I think VKB should offer some new base for new heavy metal grip, but they didn't. Hope they will come up with something
@@maksimsavelev5478 yes, I think the GF base should be enhanced, VKB GF III NEO base. 🤣🤣🤣. Thanks men, still I’m in love with the stick. Excellent product.
Great review, thanks! I also have the CH Fighter Stick and CH Pro Throttle. I replaced my CH Pro Pedals with a set of VKB MKIV T Rudder pedals and I'm very impressed with the smoothness and accuracy, so I'm very keen to get my hands on their Gunfighter II with MCG Pro. Did you come straight from the CH Fighterstick to this Gunfighter with MCG? Also, on another note, is that you flying the acrobatic aircraft, too? Looks intense!
Thanks for the review!! But what about the throttle system? Can I use the same that I use with my yoke system or there is a specific throttle system made by VKB?
Is there a way to add a twist to this Joystick so we can avoid buying rudder pedals ? (I know it's not realistic to fly without rudder but I'm kinda used to twist Joysticks now)
Thank you Martin! I had pretty strong air sickness when I was a kid. It took me sometime to overcome it when I had started to fly. But everything is possible . You can train yourself by flying regularly, especially if you are controlling the aircraft. When flying aerobics, you have enough time to train yourself, cause it takes a lot of flying time to be able to fly complex things. So everyone can fly something like this in a while! Cheers!
mersyndol If I get question right. Yes on a real aircraft aerodynamic forces are trying to bring the stick somewhere around center position. But the sharpness and amount of the “brining back” force are matter of an engineering design and differs from type to type.
How did you manage to get one ? :)) They still have no stock anywhere. I`m still waiting for pedals and joystick to appear in stock on EU site. Great review !
Slims , Well I've started to write emails even there were nothing in stock, so I think I just got in a queue. And once it became available, they just sent me one.
Hey thanks, in the following weeks maybe they replenish stock on the EU site and i`ll be able to order. Again, great review, was really wondering if it requires some grease on the bearings your review cleared that out. Was really not sure if i should get the extension, you made my decision up for me as well.
+Slims I've been talking with VKB distributors, and they've updated their expected target dates for new shipments on their website. Basically: Chinese New Year messed up their supply chain, and they're expecting to wait upwards of a month to finally get new Gunfighter Pros in, and are expecting to open sales of new ones sometime mid April. If you're as frustrated as I was by the news, you may want to consider having a look at Virpil's Mongoose T-50s. Which are not only in stock, but are also on sale. With the downside that they are much cheaper sticks, all plastic, only metal is in the gimbal at the base, fewer buttons and no analog hats, and are made specifically for mounting; no desktop usage at all. Still, the decision is there for a very similar stick setup to the gunfighter now or waiting upwards of two additional months for a VKB later.
Slims, It's a sad news. I haven't tried yet a product of Virpil company, so it won't be fair if I give you any advice regarding it. But what I've seen from the web, that it's not so advanced (if I may say so) as VKB one. But I do agree, its very difficult to wait for such a period of time. So its up to you, if you should wait or not. Sorry for that
That is rather sad, just last Wednesday they announced on FSC EU that everything is on track and they expect delivery soon. What can i say, i will wait, going to have to hold on to my warthog for a few months longer. Thanks guys for the news.
Thank you. I wish I could, but I own only the MCG by VKB. If I was a real reviewer, I probably get another one for comparison. But I'm using my own MCG only for personal entertainment in spare time. I made this review, just because joystick itself was so good and I was excited. But when I was choosing one of them I decided to go with MCG instead of T-50. In future time I'll more considering buying this one www.brunner-innovation.swiss/product/cls-e-joystick/ instead of using traditional spring loaded joysticks.
@@maksimsavelev5478 Understand ... I thought it would be like that :-) Thanks for the tip, It is really interesting no matter it is really expensive for someone like me, who even does not have pedals :D
Hi, I have a question about this beautiful joystick. Is it compatible with games of space simulations like Star Citizen? Indeed, this game has axes of displacement in more compared to games like DCS for example.
Captain Murk Of course you may use it in Star Citizen as well, but to have all axis engaged I think it’s better to use this stick in version with the twist which is coming soon.
Is this modeled after a certain real life system, like the Warthog Thrustmaster is modeled after the real life A-10 setup? It looks real enough, but if it was actually modeled after a certain aircraft's, that would go the extra mile for me.
Zachary Southard It's modeled after Su-57 stick with a slight modification in shape as few extra axis and buttons for a simulation purposes and manufacturing.
Well it's still pretty good. I wish they can make load heavier. Using 2 springs on each axises is good for table version, but it's to weak for the extension.
For this moment they are selling Gunfighter with the pre- installed twist. I don't know what does it mean exactly. Anyway I can't deal with that type of control. I need to have rudder pedals instead of it
thanks for this Video. I am very interested. But i have 2 Points. Maybe i have missed it, but is there a throttle function? Have i to buy extra feet pedals for the side rudders?

Well it’s some kind of replica of both of them. As for me I’m using the CH Products throttle quadrant. Still waiting for something interesting to buy. And my rudder pedals are pretty old version of VKB 3 axis pedals.

It's likely, neither are available.
thanks for the review, i think i'm gonna guy the gunfighter.
Mr.Maksim you sound like Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger😁.. great Review
Navneet Shivalkar Thanks))) I've heard from English native speakers, that Russian and Austrian or German accent sound similar))
Thanks for doing this review. Good job.
kuu moe thank you
Thanks for introducing me to this masterpiece, since the Warthog wasnt the right thing for me :)
2 Questions:
1. since there are a lot of mechanical components - is there some sort of manual on how to put it together the way you like and how to calibrate?
2. stick looks awesome - especially with an extension, but what about the throttle/hotas - what would you recommend with this stick?
Foxhound482 1. It's already assembled from factory. All you need to do is to attach stick itself to the base. No special skill required, and manual is in the box.
2. This joystick has no throttle. I'm using a simple CH-product Throttle qudrant.
Maksim Savelev thanks!
Terrific joystick, only the availability is almost zero from the supplier making it virtually unattainable.
Great review! Thanks for the effort,
PLEASE, at 0:17, what is this simulator ? I remember I used to fly it at a schoolfriend's home when I was 15, which is not exactly recent !
Many thanks in advance for your answers !
Hi! This is LHX. Modern, I would even say, futuristic helicopter simulator. I was amazed how detailed it was in 3D, in the times of its. I liked it very much! Thank you for sharing your experience)!
@@maksimsavelev5478 Thank you for the information ! Now I remember !
So, looking forward to a get nice force-feedback system from VKB or someone else.
reminds me of the mfg pedals and its cam movement
Yeah, looks very similar. Which is very promising. The MFG pedals are so smooth that you can "think" left and right with them, if you know what I mean. Same with a TM Warthog stick if you polish, lube and extend it. But even so, I really kinda want this stick too now.
I want this but I need a mounting solution for the extended version.
I bought a chair and a bookshelf in Ikea, and screwed the the shelf underneath of chair. Works well and took only a half an hour
Outstanding review. Subbed.
Thank you!
I could wait a year to order one. Wow.
That's a great review good job! I was just wondering, do you own your own aircraft?
k storm Hello!
Hi
quick question, is there any throttle grip with this joystick ?
Arzhang Sadeghi , Hi! This joystick doesn't provide you with throttle control. I'm personally using a CH throttle qudrant
Very interesting product. Btw, does it have a throttle control? Or it's a pure stick?
It's a pure stick. But VKB has announced very nice throttle coming somewhere in the future
I see. Really look forward to it. Tired of only two players in this market: Saitek and Thrustmaster.
Thank you! Yes I switched to Gunfighter MCG directly from CH Fighter stick. And yes I'm doing this aerobatic either. No one else has been injured))
Haha thanks for the reply!
Great flying :D
Взял с надписями на родной мове)), супер!
Great review! I just ordered a base and pro grip + extension. Could you tell me what cams setup you are using?
Thanks for the review!! But what about the throttle system? Can I use the same that I use with my yoke system or there is a specific throttle system made by VKB?
You can use any throttle system you like. The VKB has announced theirs own throttle quadrant, but I think it will take a long time to get it released.
Maksim Savelev Ok!! Thank you. I will save money to buy a VKB control
Is there a way to add a twist to this Joystick so we can avoid buying rudder pedals ? (I know it's not realistic to fly without rudder but I'm kinda used to twist Joysticks now)
Glubok Yes it' could be added. But you better ask VKB how to do this.
Thank's man !
If only they would have more in stock...
Srefanius That's a good point
Great review, thanks! Have you ever experienced motion sickness doing the acrobatic maneuvers? Any tips for counteracting it? ;)
Cheers!
Maksim Savelev That’s very encouraging, thanks ;)
Great ! What type of computer are you using ?
Trevor Graham Welch At this moment I’m using Asus GL502VS gaming notebook with gtx 1070 onboard. But it’s not strong enough for simulators in VR
does the stick return to center in flight?? with press on the control surfaces?? on the real plane that is.
mersyndol If I get question right.
Great review .... could you compare to Virpil T50?
In future time I'll more considering buying this one www.brunner-innovation.swiss/product/cls-e-joystick/
instead of using traditional spring loaded joysticks.
@@maksimsavelev5478 Understand ... I thought it would be like that :-) Thanks for the tip, It is really interesting no matter it is really expensive for someone like me, who even does not have pedals :D
was that you in the aircraft doing aerobatics?
Harpoon_Bakery Yes. That’s me flying all airplanes in this video.
I can't find this on their website and it's always out of stock. Pls help.
This grip is almost 100% replica of Su-35 stick.
Correct! Su-35 and Su-57sticks are quiet the same.
Have your thoughts on the stick changed since the review? Any noticeable changes in performance?
Well it's still pretty good. I wish they can make load heavier. Using 2 springs on each axises is good for table version, but it's to weak for the extension.
How much does the Gunfighter MCG Pro cost and is that with twist grip for rudder controls?
For actual price it's better to check one of the link in the description. It's cost me 459$ +25$ for the delivery to Moscow
For this moment they are selling Gunfighter with the pre- installed twist. I don't know what does it mean exactly. Anyway I can't deal with that type of control. I need to have rudder pedals instead of it
thanks for the information :)
Очень приятно, откуда вы?
thanks for this Video. I am very interested. But i have 2 Points. Maybe i have missed it, but is there a throttle function? Have i to buy extra feet pedals for the side rudders?
It's just a joystick, that means you'll need throttle and rudder pedals as well.
correct me if I am wrong. it look like the joystick from Russian jets, such as SU-27 or MiG-29. I wonder about the throttle & rudder.
Well it’s some kind of replica of both of them. As for me I’m using the CH Products throttle quadrant. Still waiting for something interesting to buy. And my rudder pedals are pretty old version of VKB 3 axis pedals.
What Force Feedback stick are you referring to?
Sam Martin AI was talking about this one:
www.brunner-innovation.swiss/product/brunner-jet/
Doesn't seem like their stick works with any games...
@@riekopo7638 From their website:
"Enabled by our unique CLS2Sim software-environment, the CLS-E Joystick communicates easily with commercially available flight simulation software such as X-Plane, M-FSX and Prepar3D®."
