The song was written over a hundred years ago about a mother saying goodbye to her son as he goes off to fight in WW1. Jackie Wilson had the best male solo voice of his era. When I first heard the song in 1965 I knew no one was ever going to sing ANY song better than this.

I'm a 70 year old white woman and I have every song he ever recorded, the 50's and 60's produced the most prolific singers in history, caucasian and especially black. I hope you delve into the history of music, no reverb, no autotune, no computers just God given raw talent, and back then it wasn't about the money like today, it was who they were.

Thank you brother for reacting to my request to one of my favorite singer growing up in the late 50's and 60's. Other great songs from Jackie are " Night" , To Be Loved, Lonely Teardrops, Baby Workout, Whispers Getting Louder, Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher and Higher, That Is Why I Love You So, and many others.
