One of the greatest vocals ever from the most versatile vocalist in the history of 20th century American popular music

This song was written over 100 years ago, many artists have sung it, including Elvis Pressley and many, many others. I believe Jackie did it best. I read that this song was played at President Kennedy's funeral. I'm not sure whether it was Jackie Wilson's or one of the other singers, but this was a very popular Irish song

What a great version of this song. I had never heard it done by Jackie before. He had a lot of great hits in the 50's-60's such as "I'm Wanderin'", "We Have Love", "That's Why (I Love You So)", "I'll Be Satisfied", "(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher & Higher", "Baby Workout", & "I Get The Sweetest Feeling". Sadly he suffered a heart attack in 1975, then went into a coma & never fully recovered. He was in a nursing home till he died in 1984 at the age of 49.

This is the 1964 version, released on the 1965 "Soul Time" album. He did record it in 1958 on his first album, but this is the mid 60s version

Also sang it under the name Sonny Wilson in 1952. Rainy Day Blues and Danny Boy were released on two 78rpm vinyls back in 1952. Luckily, I own a copy of each. If you can't find a copy, both songs were released on a Billy Ward and the Dominoes CD a few years back. ❤ JACKIE WILSON IS TRULY THE GREATEST ❤

Wow that is a fantastic rendition of that song. I don't recall hearing this one before, amazing, maybe it's not my old album. It's been a long time having my old vinyls out to enjoy.

Here's a backstory for you I used to be a DJ at a military instillation in the mid 80's a white guy from the South asked me to play any Jackie Wilson I didn't own any of his music I bought some and suddenly remembered that my mother used to sing his entire catalog when I was a kid what great memories

Thank You for reacting to this song. You said my call name correctly (real name is Marilyn). Pretty awesome, captivating performance, huh. He did a live performance on Shindig but this 1958 version, I hoped you would listen to, is the one where he sings (along with his recording) just sweeps you in on his incredible vocal talents. ps going to miss your reactions but understand it's time for a pause.

Hello there Roskoe.....I just read the "about " description of your channel , and I agree that your reaction seems more genuine and humble and not exaggerated or attention seeking and I like your demeanor.
And since you don't mind suggestions....let me recommend that you check out the LIVE video of JACKIE WILSON'S "FOREVER AND A DAY" and also the extremely rare LIVE video of "THE GREATEST HURT" also by JACKIE WILSON .....so I'd be interested in your reaction and thoughts on the 2 videos .
For me however ; Jackie Wilson was the most talented and gifted rock and roll and rhythm and blues artist that ever lived .

This was a song he sung as a child in talent shows. I really wish you had listened to him sing it “live”. This is him in person but not singing live. If you check out the “ SHINDIG “ performance you will see him perform it LIVE.
