No mention of the thunderous winter breakers on the Cape May coastline? If you have a crazy like we did the guy refused to shut the squad bay window at night. I can still hear those breakers and feel the cold.
My boot camp date got moved from October 28th to Dec 11th Bc of the issue of them not having enough CS and OS, also my recruiter said that they’ve become a whole lot more selective on who they pick. I was actually the only person that he could send to BC this year. Also on the down side, that nice 2000$ sign on was taken away for FY19 so anyone considering joining just know that they’ve become a lot more selective and that bonus is gone.
thanks for the vids man, the quality of your content is the best amongst coast guard related content. You answered some of my question on uscg subreddit. I have a ship date of jan 8th and im from Texas so not to sure how Ill do, but it sounds like the cold might be a blessing.
My hands get really dry in the colder months and hydrocortisone really works for me the most. Can I bring hydrocortisone lotion or get some at the cgx or in medical? I’ll be there for Oct-Dec.
True. Cape May in November 1963. Very accurate description
I ship out in 5 days and haven’t found any content on the cold weather ahead thanks for the video!

I also went January to March. I graduated twenty years ago today. I still wear my actual boot camp winter jacket.
Oh wow they let you keep them? Are they the blue camo jackets I've seen in se other videos?
@@Myusernameweak The one I have is a bomber style jacket.
@@deezy81 blue camo?
@@Myusernameweak No, just solid Navy blue.

Great video! I was supposed to ship 9/11 but it was pushed to 11/27 and I was worried about winter training but it doesn't sound too bad.
Yeah I’ve heard you get to spend Christmas with a family who hosts recruits?

I’m going this summer. Winter sounds a little nicer. I like biking and shoveling isn’t that bad. Any tips for the summer?
Going in 2 months and it’s already snowing 😂😂😂

What is the confidence course like? What would happen if you couldn’t complete some of the obstacles?
So do they take in new recruits to boot camp every month or is it only certain months?
