I think a lot of people have a hard time understanding the real value of their intangible resources like time, thoughts, energy, and attention. The average person will probably flinch at the idea of spending $5 on a phone game, but have no problem dumping 5 hours of their attention on content that eats their future. Every single entity is trying to steal your attention, choose what you give it to wisely -

I block everything that bothers me. I only receive phone calls from people I add to my address book, the rest are blocked. I immediately install AddBlock for annoying ads, I'm sorry. I only have one life and I don't have much time, I want to use the little I have to make my dream come true, to make a game, don't come and steal the rest of my life, you damn bloodsucking companies. I agree with you my friend Skies, I wish I was wiser when I was younger. Thanks again :)

    "Your attention is your energy".
This is *so*, so true. I went from a completely inept artist to a fairly skilled one in just three years. I've learned Blender, Substance, Maya, Zbrush, sculpting, UVs, Rigging, Concept Art, and the list goes on. Sometimes I see people saying they'll never be good enough, that they'll never reach a certain level, that they're a failure...
These words resonate with me. It's the kind of thing I'd say in the past. Back then I couldn't figure out why I wasn't able to get good results in anything I tried. The reason, as always, was attention.
If you truly want to build something great, something that will make you proud, you must have focus. There is no progress without it.
We're living in the internet age now. Everything and everyone is trying to grab your attention all the time. Some people do it and give you important advice (like Royal Skies in this channel), while some don't give you anything at all. It's all a matter of choosing who you'll listen to, who truly deserves your attention.

No truer words have been said. As someone with adhd I already have a hard time doing basic tasks and the youtube ads trick hit me for a bit until I realised that (on PC) setting my video to theatre mode drops all those recommendations below the video therefore no glances occur.

    Top notch advice!!!!
Love the simple steps needed to get a good result.
One thing that helped me at least, was to pay less attention to the clock. Don't hustle and stress over seconds and minutes, use hours and days. It helped me to slow down and actually become MORE productive and give me more free time.

I could see Master Yoda saying it: "Distractions lead to wasted time. Wasted time leads to guilt. Guilt leads to anger. Anger leads to short-term meaningless self-gratifications and spending all your time and money. This is the way of the dark side of the Social Force." or maybe something catchier, more clever. But besides joking -- thank you, awesome video, analysis, and techniques to overcome!

Great video man. I just want to piggyback on this topic; your brain is constantly seeking dopamine and something to latch onto. If it isn’t given what it wants it will throw a hissy fit and you will have negative thoughts trying to talk you out of being productive. “It’s never gonna be good enough” or “why even bother now”. Etc don’t be hard on yourself and don’t give in to those thoughts!

Thank you for this, Skies, you're right on the money. I've noticed myself in this battle recently and have been shedding my dependency on my phone to help create boredom to spark creativity, and have found myself coming back to art. Opportunists truly ruin everything, and It's been sad watching them discover tech, and now Ai. Keep up the good fight, dude, you're doing some good.

Just wanted to thank you for your content, your blender videos helped me make my video game, It's called mk ultra psychic defense and it's the first psychedelic tower defense game on the market. It cost me about 7 months of non stop effort to create and we launch in early access this December second.

I've had my phone on silent almost constantly for over 10 years now. It's always funny to me when people don't understand why i do this when i tell them why i am hard to reach. It's just a small portion of my attention that i can retain through this, since the distractions today are everywhere like you mentioned, but at least its something. Kinda sad that people don't even realize that they are being manipulated 24/7.
