The emerald elite fight was touchy because instead of upgrading a card that would keep him weak for twice as long, you recalled way before you have to. Please egg. My family is starving and you feast in our face.
he does this every run, it makes no sense
one day, he might actually realize how he's supposed to get the keys, but today (and probably not for the foreseeable future) is not that day.
People have told him not to and he acknowledged it, and then in yesterday's episode he said "I like having them all by the end of the first floor".
Egg has never heard of compound interest.

This Quiet Woman doesn't seem to have as strong a woosh ability as the regular Quiet Man. Does she need to be wearing a different Plagge Doctor mask?
TL;DR: Run Strength Asc 0, Strategy 3/10, Tactics 4/10. NL made it way farther than I thought he'd did, but he upgraded 3 cards in the whole game, one of which came from an event. His obsession with getting the key pieces makes it so that NL is pretty much always behind the curve going into act 2.

> If you're going to go for the flaming elite you absolutely cannot have a deck weak to Gremlin Nob, which means that you're going to want to heavily bias towards offense. It's a good idea in general, but going for elites makes it paramount.

The issue was that NL couldn't ever play most of them and that none of the cards provided enough immediate impact. His deck was pretty impotent until it set up and was still slow when it did, which ultimately cost him the victory.

Act 1:
- I would have taken Dagger Spray over Blur personally, since early damage is highly useful. Especially if he's going for the flaming Elite early on.
- Whoever told him Flying Knee is a bad card needs to stop. Honestly, the majority of cut and dry card evaluations (except for clearly incredibly niche things like Grand Finale) are likely to be more harmful than good - pretty much every card can be useful in some sort of deck and in some kind of situation. At least he took it...
- Early recall is absolutely horrible again, especially up against the early elite.
- Only having 1 Flying Knee Nob is likely GG. Even if he doesn't die, he's set back so far behind that he's in real threat of always being behind the curve value-wise and just folding over in act 2.
- I dont know why NL dislikes Dash but likes Iron Wave. It's extremely good in a lot of early game scenarios (e.g. Nob, Chosen, Guardian).
- Having the Caltrops and the Bronze Scales is pretty huge. Thorns is extremely strong in act 2 and for the final boss. He still should have bought that Bouncing Flask for the great synergy with Snecko Skull though. Although, with how rest-heavy NL tends to be, Apotheosis could be good too.
- Key pieces don't help you beat enemies, NL. Having all of them is irrelevant until act 3, and the Red Key especially should wait. If you upgrade more, you wouldn't have to do dumb things like rest at 36 HP, or even be at 36 HP in the first place. Especially with a Ghost in the Jar.
- NL's deck is okay, but it desperately needs improvements, and improvements fast. Blurs aren't better than Defends a lot of the time, and he still has just Neutralize.
- I would have gone Snecko Eye for its synergy with Bullet Time and make the deck into a more combo-ish oriented deck throwing around Backflips and Acrobatics and stuff. Ring of the Snake works fine as a budget Snecko Eye, though.
Act 2:
- NL didn't need to use that ghost in a bottle for just 10 damage, especially since the Automaton is the boss and likes to throw around Hyper Beams.
- Egg absolutely disrespecting the strongest event in the game.
- At least he didn't buy the third Blur.
- Acrobatics is quite good, although for it to be best NL would need an energy relic, a floating energy, or a Bullet Time upgrade.
- Piercing Wail+ would be amazing, so obviously NL doesnt' take it. Also, if he'd noticed the Flask Catalyst would have been a good idea.
- Elites are a terrible idea - his frontloaded damage is pretty awful, he has no AoE presence, and unless he gets Book of Stabbing he's likely to take a ridiculous amount of damage or even die. Slavers nearly kill him from full HP, and the relic wasn't nearly good enough to make up for it (even though Bird Faced Urn is incredible, it's still not worth losing 50 HP...).
- Although he should have flexed into it wayyy earlier, NL finally does the smart thing and takes a Noxious. Oneoff cards are much less bad than NL thinks - not every single card absolutely has to fit into a single archetype.
- Malaise is huge with both Ice Cream and Burst.
- I forgive you, NL, but the game won't. HP is a harsh mistress.
- With 30 HP, I think an upgrade is fine. NL is playing to not lose rather than to win - Malaise and Burst means that he's very likely to not take damage, especially with Noxious Fumes to strip artifact.
- Definitely should have been a Neutralize upgrade, I think. Apotheosis buy looks more and more like the correct purchase for indirect scaling.
- Dome, unfortunately, was the correct call, but since NL doesn't know the patterns of act 4 yet it's forgivable. I would probably have taken Box over White Beast Statue, though, just to get rid of all these Strikes. Since NL will want pretty much all Backflips anyways and has like 3 trillion blurs, I think the loss of the 5 defends won't be that bad.
Act 3:
- That was a weird Acrobatics. Flying Knee+ would have ensured an Exploder kill.
- Mind Blast is pretty much only useful on Dailies, I think. Metamorphosis... is also pretty much only useful on dailies? It's a weird card.
- NL isn't playing aggressively enough to kill the Orb Walker.
- With Weak applied, each damage is worth .75 block, but otherwise you typically want to attack more than you want to block. Also, play Skewer for 1 rather than Striking.
- NL's deck does basically zero damage, especially on 3 energy. This is a clear loss.
- As a note about Claw: NL might have been confused by a Claw generated by Hello World, since those aren't effected by already-played Claws.

There's nothing wrong with picking up a Flying Knee early. Its not a superb card, but it beefs up your starting deck with some better cards. The extra energy helps too.
Please, please think about waiting on the key recall. Its so much better to upgrade early and recall later than vice versa. You want to get as strong as you can as quickly as you can and try to snowball. The sooner you start the easier it'll be to get that snowball rolling
Good reasoning behind skipping Blue Candle. You normally wouldn't just pass over it, but starting with Omamori gave you a lot of curse protection, making the candle that much less relevant.
Burst is almost certainly the right choice. Especially once upgraded it just gives so much value in a defensive deck. Blur, Malaise, Leg Sweep, Cloak and Dagger are all fantastic targets. It also pairs so well with poison. Few things are as satisfying as a Burst Catalyst.
Ok, maybe going a little overboard with the Flying Knees. I get what you're going for, but its still not that great a card.
You want a Piercing Wail. It counters the Heart's multi-hit attack so hard. Its also a decent Burst target.
White Beast Statue is a fine choice. Getting a steady stream of potions is honestly more helpful than it seems, especially on the Silent who has access to ghost potions. One of those can completely turn a fight around. And I don't blame you for skipping Runic Dome. Its strong but its the most anti-fun relic in the game.
RIP on the jaw worm stampede. That fights tough to handle without some decent killing power. It was sorta only a matter of time though. The deck was a bit shoddy with a weird mesh of turtle strats and energy manipulation. And stop blaming your losses on having a fat deck. The losses come from having a deck filled with cards that do nothing.
The undervaluing of Bouncing Flask is *unreal!* That's 12 poison for 2 energy, or 15 poison upgraded (because of Snecko Skull)

At 45:20 you could have used your Fear Potion on the Exploder and then hit it with 3 strikes. Would've killed it and saved you 30 health, which I'd say is worth it. Especially after watching you use a Speed Potion to save 2 health at 39:04.

Ice cream isn't any energy relic in the eyes of when sts players talk about energy relics usually. What he meant was BOSS energy relic which is pretty obvious at least to me.
Fair enough but I'm more saying that he said that like he was dying for a boss relic for energy in a flying knee, (unupgraded *_*) bullet time, and Ice cream run.
Well, NL succeeded with one archetype for the Silent, so let's see him try to force it ad nauseam. How long did it take for him to not do an All For One Defect build?

Edit: On a serious note, if he had gone for poison which he’s should have on the first shop he would’ve won. By the time he started adding those noxious fumes back to the deck it’s wayyyyyyyy too late. First floor is always deck building and not recalling. One of the main reasons that his decks are half-assed is that he always recalls and never Smiths on the first act which caused him to Smith the basic essential cards on later acts like neutralise or blur. Relics and upgraded cards guide you to a certain playstyle while your deck is thin. A lack of this made him had a mixture of weak caltrop, poison/ block build. First act is meant to be easy for you to prepare for the later acts where AOE and scaling is a problem. He took caltrops and scales for the heart which I can understand. But when the majority of other enemies mainly deal one hit, it’s not a reliable source for damage. He is always jumping the gun thinking about how to kill the final boss. By act 2/3 he realise he can’t survive because he is not building a deck that counters the current enemies. By the time he realises this he is spending time healing and you can see this infinite loop he is stuck in.
Bouncing flask is amazing with sneko skull, especially in a deck that's very defensive!

Hey NL, just something worth noting - Blur has the same defense value as a regular defend, so if you're going to take damage it's better to keep the blur and play the defend

At this point between his wrong affirmations about the game, his misnaming of things, his doing things completely opposite to what he's saying and only noticing one eighth of the time, his very biased quotes from comments that become more and more mangled and deformed as seconds from the time he read them pass, and his endless hubris, this man's speech has become an untarishable stream of falsehoods dwarfing even my run on sentences.

his new obsession with thin decks came from people giving him advice that he should start removing basic cards once he has a good baseline so he can get to the "gas" faster, but of course, egghead has A and D, but completely misses B and C because he's removing cards... but not adding cards and refuses to add cards sometimes when he has 17 of them because "the deck is getting too thick".

He's lost the basic fundamentals. You want to draw good cards and make solid plays. Archetypes, synergy home runs, and thin decks are beside the point.

Dude, you had icecream and didn't see this potential synergy: if you can play Acrobatics and Bullet Time on the same turn you can generate 2 energy for the next turn with Sneaky Strike, with Well-Laid plans you could've made that work easily.
On the topic of the controller, I've found the game is actually a lot easier with it, because I too tended to misclick with the mouse.
With the controller, you don't select with a pointer, you just navigate left or right in your hand with the directional pad.
Just putting it out there, you might want to give it a try, because it's not as bad as you'd think, if you believe you'd have to navigate a pointer.
You should take Acrobatics more often. It's a solid card that lets you dig for your answers and pitch garbage.

Problem is when you chose burst you should get some offensive skill like some that debuff with poison. When you have bullettime you should have some 2 or 3 cost card because that one also becomes 0 cost.

Sorry for necromancy, but those 2 cost colorless for random 0 cost are really bad because they're random. Unless you already have insane draw to deal with getting the garbage in your deck it's flipping a coin whether or not you get anything worthwhile and the downside risk is very bad.

You had a golden ticket 😭
all my man had to do was save money for shops instead of buying other shit and he could have gotten noxious fumes and bouncing flask in the first floor, the specimen on the second floor, and then an upgraded catalyst on the second floor as well... he also started with snecko with could kick it all off

Ascension 20 act 4 silent is destroying me. NL will lose his mind if he ever gets to it. You basically have to not only get super lucky, but also play perfectly. Ironclad’s ascension 20 act 4 was easy compared to this.
He realizes dash is equivliant to iron wave and he says he loves iron wave. Iron wave 5 damage 5 block for 1 energy. Dash 10 damage 10 block for 2 energy which is equivalent to 1 energy for 5 damage and 5 block
Nathan Bright except for the part where it’s not equivalent. There are a slew of differences between the two cards. Just because you like iron wave on the iron clad, doesn’t mean you have to also like dash on the silent.

@@joelbennett0629 True, there are differences. Dash is much, much better, since it gives you the value of two iron waves with only one card.Dash is objectively better than iron wave, and gets really really strong once you have 4 energy and can play two other cards. It has amazing value.

Or it could just as easily be argued that iron wave is much, much better because it is more flexible, scales the ninja relics on 3 energy more often, gains more value from an upgrade, or because it’s located on a class that benefits more from gaining both block and damage at the same time
Of course it doesn’t really matter the argument one makes when you realize they are all semantical in nature. You will never see iron wave and dash in the same run unless you find the cursed shard or a note from myself. So comparing the two cards and trying to decide which one is better is really not important.

Has no damage. Gets offered Unload. Yeah, I think I’m gonna skip that one.
STOP TAKING ALL THE KEY PIECES ON YOUR FIRST FLOOR. THEY SHOULD ALL BE ON YOUR LAST FLOOR AT THE LAST OPPORTUNITY UNLESS YOU FIND A) Final boss camp, second act, no rest needed. B) A chest with a useless relic on act one or two C) Whenever you are confident you can body any current floor elite with your current deck.
This episode was supposed to be named Girth. Disappointed.
Okay but like... Can we stop this Ascension 0 crap? A heart kill on Ascension 0 is still difficult, sure, but your skills have atrophied SO hard.
Edit: or AT LEAST play the Silent and Ironclad runs on Ascension. You have the Ascension 0 wins.
