I thought that with his love for reaper there would be no way that he'd pass up the extra strength. How foolish was I.
hey he also thinks an Upgrade on reaper is GOOD. Get one point of strength(like vajra) and you basically HAVE an upgraded reaper(actually even better as you can just keep increasing it using limit break)
I wonder if he's doing it on purpose at this point

Oh boy 8 minutes in and I can see this already going badly. Egghead chose the ruby key instead of an upgrade on the first floor right before an elite fight and the sapphire key instead of Vajra AS THE IRONCLAD.
Which is also surprising cause on a previous run NOT as the ironclad he chose to take Girya over the spoon when he had some insane exhaustibles. Strength as the Ironclad? Nah. Strength in a build that relies on storm on its major damage dealer? Sign me right up! Are you okay egg?
So there’s been a lot of episodes where nl makes some bad mistakes, but I’m pretty sure he screwed up in every available spot available

NL didn't you win with the Ironclad first?
1) Reaper is not a good card to upgrade. It is in fact one of the worst cards to upgrade for the IronClad. 1 damage. The upgrade gives 1 damage! The upgrade is completely meaningless.
2) No one is saying Vajra is a bad relic. Sure, if your deck completely avoids playing attacks, its not very helpful. But its great in the majority of decks, and especially considering all of your IronClad play seems to worship Reaper, you want strength. Stop the damn straw-man arguments.
3) Stop worrying about removing that Parasite. It's one of the most benign curses and it actively penalizes removal. Not to mention the multiple True Grits.
4) The writhing mass's "weak" attack comes with vulnerable and weakness. I don't even think you noticed. Getting vulnerable followed by a heavy attack can be brutal. Switching him to the debuff attack everytime can be dangerous if you get a bad draw.
It is very annoying that every episode it's the exact same deck types and exact same words use every time

Reaper only good time to upgrade it is legit if it's like the last card the 1 damage don't do much. That honestly getting meat on the bone or the starting relic is better then the 1 damage will ever heal in total. I can't watch them anymore, I just listen so I don't get hurt by blindness.
It’s a little risky, but instead of removing Pain, he could have bought Rupture and kept Pain. It might have worked with all his Reapering

Ive done a deck like this one before , didnt get the reaper but instead demon blood relic and magic flower , i was healing 15 after every fight , it was a awesome deck , but the lack of defense can screw ya
Is Egg okay? Hes been playing better but this episode feels like a 3 month regression.
What do you mean better? He got to ascension 17 and now struggles to make it to floor 3 boss and just dies to the heart unless he's got a godlike run and hasn't thrown

The bomb is pretty good NL. Especially stacked.
Compare it to playing Demon Form and waiting three turns. Definitely in the ballpark, maybe even better.
Demon Form is play once and forget but the Bomb feels like you need to construct the deck around it a bit more.

@@Teal_. defect can easily go infinite ;3, thats pretty much how I won, I got the artifact that lets you draw a card when your hand is empty. with that I went with alot of claws and other free cards

Every source I've found uses the j sound. Although, if you really want to get into it, a proper Sanskrit pronunciation is evidently "Waj-ra"

NL, you have 2 upgraded true grids, why do you take cursed key over mark of pain?
27:03 Panacea might have been a nice choice for Ironchad, it makes Flex into a strength buff that lasts the whole combat instead of just one turn by blocking the "strength down" part. Upgrade both cards and that's 8 strength every combat for a low cost of 0 energy, and a nice starting point for Limit Break and Reaper.
I mean, it’s a neat combo, but in practice it’s pretty underwhelming. It rarely works out smoothly, and half the time you’ll end up drawing flex before panacea, meaning you’ll have to cycle back around to flex in order to get the permanent buff or headbutt it back. Plus if you aren’t able to play panacea -> flex -> flex quickly enough, enemies will often just remove the artifact charges with their debuffs. Basically it’s like a janky and unreliable version of spot weakness.

33 cards, that’s roughly the number of cards I’ll have by the end of an ascension 20 run. Just get more card draw if you are having low card quality issues. Cycle through the garbage and exhaust them whenever possible. And get more familiar with the various corruption deck strategies.

Ok, here's both the reason why a thin deck is king and why it also doesn't matter
if you draw 5 cards every turn and you own 5 betterstrikes and 5 betterdefends, it is inevitable that you will eventually draw nothing but strikes when the enemy is attacking and that you will draw nothing but defends while the enemy is scaling in some way. Building the deck in any way that doesn't contain 4 non-draw cards at most along with the fuel for an infinite/massive combo with scaling stats means that you will eventually take damage on a first turn or some other turn if you fight for long enough.
If you have a 50 card deck with 17 defends, there is a reasonable chance that you get no defends or only defends.
If you let your opponent scale without punishment or if you let them hit you occasionally, you will eventually lose, right?
No.
Many cards carry over value between turns. Some cards also function as both attack and defends or both as attacks and scaling sources or as defends and scaling sources or as any of the above and also mill cards. If you have 1 blur for every 5 non-draw cards in your deck and you play every blur you draw, you will roll block over every turn after you draw through all your cards once. If you have a bunch of powers, your deck will get thinner as the rounds go on and you will draw your skills and attacks more regularly and use them for greater effect. If you use flying knees in a deck with any draw, the extra energy will stand a good chance of translating into extra chances to play attacks and skills, meaning that you have a smaller chance of being left with an inappropriate hand. This also means that you will be able to stuff more powers in your deck as the deck gets larger while having a lesser risk of only drawing powers. There are many cards which do better specifically under these conditions such as perfected strike, high-value exhaustible cards which would otherwise leave your deck under-powered after you used them, energy generating cards, cards which actually count your pile size like stack, aggregate, and mind blast, or cards which effectively create dead cards like turbo, overclock, immolate, and reckless charge, and search cards of any kind. Having a huge deck means you can get away with large numbers of repair cards such as self repair and reaper. The only character who doesn't immediately look like he benefits from large decks is the silent, but with his many powerful card-milling and drawing synergies available and with both footwork and after image, large decks are actually very easy to make work for him. After the fourth turn, it wouldn't be surprising to generate enough block without ever playing a block.
But you will still get hit.
That's fine. That's why you have more than one hp.
tldr: bring back 50 card decks with draw and energy cards egg, it worked for you in the past and it can work now.

Okay I believe you guys, but when was this mythical Ironclad win against the heart? I saw him run a really nice Impervious/Juggernaut deck and die. I went back to ep.354 and couldn't find it. Did he win as part of a super-subscriber stream, or the November SS?

Armaments is good and all but only when you have a thick deck and can’t upgrade most of the stuff. Imo the egg is over worshipping this bloody card and doing so is screwing up any potential synergy out there
Armaments is pure gold most of the times it nets you 3 more block or dmg for 1 energy and an extra 5 block on top of it. It is basically a flex and 1 turn dexterity inside a basic deck in a better deck is just amazing.
Slowed down, made good decisions
As a result, even with a jank deck and somewhat weird selection, you made it all the way to third floor and survived many difficult turns
So next episode we're back to speedrunning, right?
Also, NL, please, AT LEAST FOR THE SAPPHIRE KEY - You are guaranteed at least 3 choices; if you would rather take the relic on the first floor, TAKE IT. You still have 2 more 100% chests you can pass up to take it.

ogrejd True Grit is actually amazing in most decks. It lets you take curses, exhaust statuses, and spend gold to buy things at shops rather than removing. It’s an excellent card.
Upgraded true grit is super good as you can have curses/burns/wounds/dazes and just burn them out
