And my 3DS copy actually kept clipping out of the room leaving me to stare at Black Space (and opened to attack) …while trying to target. -so much of oot is artificial difficulty because the controls are so clunky + never cleaned up- Buuuut for an actual oot stan to go off? They made it WORSE.

Anything that gets in the way of what the player wants to do will create a bad experience whether that's bad controls, lag, and really anything that falls under the broad umbrella of being "unintuitive" like Diggernaut in Samus Returns among other things. I would also like to just throw out that both Operation Raccoon City and RE6 play better than most of these garbage rereleases and to say those games are unpolished is a major understatement. They'll keep doing it though cause people keep buying it
Well, when a service gets a raise in costs as the customer you do expect value for that cost increase. Let's say a cheese burger goes for 2 bucks but this new cheese burger goes for 8 bucks, you kind of assume it has to be tastier and or more valuable.... and then it's not. Except this is a subscription so imagine instead it's a meal prep plan where you get a selection of burgers once a week, for 4 bucks per week but your favorite kind doesn't taste the same as it did when you go there and eat....
It's pretty sad that Nintendo went from making (expensive) emulation that was relatively competent on Wii to making this kind of low-effort shit while still charging an arm and a leg for it

Even some of the main games, like Paper Mario Origami King. It was the closest thing to a traditional paper mario game, and it sold well, but there's still so many places in it where you can just tell that some exec's ego is getting the the way of real creativity and good game design.

@@09f9 Mario 64 is kind of janky. OOT really isn’t was my point lol. In fact, there’s a few elements in the gameplay that are unnecessary, like Link’s 3 hit combo. There’s no point to it as confuses people into thinking they can spam attacks on enemies when they’re better off spacing their hits between the stunned i-frames that enemies have. And the basic controls are just…so easy. B to Attack, A to roll/interact with actors/objects. There’s no jump button as Link automatically does it if running off most edges. C buttons to equip shit. This only leaves the camera. Which would be a problem if the Z button didn’t exist to reset your camera and lock onto enemies. And they basically kept this in Wind Waker and the GCN version of Twilight Princess because they work. The only thing that changed was controller shape, but the fundamental set up and finger/thumb location didn’t.

They really should have gone into the future as the one company that didn’t want to do paid online memberships. (I honestly think a better model would be just charging a bit more for games that require online features rather than charging for the online feature itself.)

I tried playing oot on switch nearly two years later, and the controls are still torture. I bought the n64 switch controller because I couldn't handle the obtuse controller layout on anything else.
i played through OOT in its entirety on Wii u VC. made a custom controller lay out and everything because i did not like using the right analog stick for C items as C right constantly did down instead. but i never had the chance to play OOT on real hardware and now playing master quest on dolphin with a GC controller.
I have went from playing Super Mario Sunshine on a CRT which is basically zero input lag to passing through an HDMI converter to a flat-screen. It's miserable. (around +1/4 sec of input lag)
is the input lag a problem with certain controllers or tv mode or something? iv'e played in handheld mode and have reached goron city now, but i havn't experienced the up to 1 sec input lag alot of people are talking about.
Most people don't see lag because most people are not doing speed run tricks. My hot take is the lag seems worst to runners and most people don't feel it because it's not really that bad unless you are breaking the game trying to do a speed run trick.
Runners are butthurt that the loading is faster on a version that they feel has to much input lag and other problems. By seeing that the game loads faster this means that this version is the one you would want to run because of all the time saves it would in theory offer, but everybody hates the controls and the input lag to much to use this version.
I barely felt input lag when i played. What i did feel when this came to switch i don't feel anymore. It's all smooth to me now. Also, almost all of the glitches i do in oot, i can only seem to do on the switch with a pro controller, i can barely get even ISG on GameCube version, and N64 version (but i can do them better on N64 than GameCube).
They’ve never made a new emulator for switch. NES and SNES was the same emulator as the classic consoles. Those emulators were pretty good. They never made an n64 classic console so they just reused Wii U’s most likely

By seeing that the game loads faster this means that this version is the one you would want to run because of all the time saves it would in theory offer, but everybody hates the controls and the input lag to much to use this version.

I played MM on Wii U and didn't even notice lag, and yes I had previously played the game on N64 many times. Maybe my powerlevel isn't high enough.

I barely felt input lag when i played.
What i did feel when this came to switch i don't feel anymore.
It's all smooth to me now.
Also, almost all of the glitches i do in oot, i can only seem to do on the switch with a pro controller, i can barely get even ISG on GameCube version, and N64 version (but i can do them better on N64 than GameCube).

They’ve never made a new emulator for switch. NES and SNES was the same emulator as the classic consoles. Those emulators were pretty good. They never made an n64 classic console so they just reused Wii U’s most likely
Along with a host of new graphics glitches, given that Wii U and the Switch do not share a graphics API between them.
As long as Nintendo gets that sweet sweet money they will never care about customer’s expectations.

Not quite as shocking because of some messages I've heard zfg read, and because that's the only time I've ever heard Gym cuss at all, but it's close.
