Drilling HOLES in my brand new car?!

- Join me as we violate the body work on my brand new 2017 Civic Sport Hatchback. If it wasn't self explanatory, learn how to install a front plate on your new car. Most people complain when dealers drill these holes for them, I requested that mine leave the front plate bracket in the trunk. And then I go ahead and do this. Hate incoming.

do you have a washer-plate at the back of the bumper? will it not loose in the long run because there's only a screw and don't have a washer plate to hold it?

Been really hesitant on whether or not I should add a front plate for Aesthetics on my new 2020 civic sport. (Live in Alberta, Canada) so it’s not required to have a front plate but after looking at it I think it’s worth drilling the two small holes 😂👍🏾
If your car has the pilot divots all you really need to do is screw in the plastic screws that came with the license holder. Unfortunately mine doesnt have the damn divots. I still wouldnt actually drill anything.

Hi Matt. What screws should I use for my vanity plate? The bracket from the Honda dealer for my 2019 Pilot isn’t exactly like yours. In NC we have no front plate requirement so I have to provide the screws. TIA.

What kind of screws do I need for the drilling and for mountain the plate onto the holder?
The mounting plate should come in a kit that includes the screws. I eventually succeeded with a 7/32 drill bit after working my way up with a few smaller sizes. The threads measured about 3/16, and having looked at many kits on Amazon, I’ve concluded that this appears to be a standard screw size.

Good Lord, those NY plates are cheesy. The new white ones look a lot better.
The dealership should have done this on a brand new car. Most states require 2 license plates except for Pennsylvania.
Thanks. I asked them not to do this because I was going to try and find another way to mount the plate. I eventually gave in and drilled the holes myself. I've also seen pictures where dealers mounted this crooked.
Carlos Indiana doesn't require the front license plate
Neither for Arkansas
Add Florida
Michigan only requires back plate
Put it in the windshield thats what i did in texas
You can still get a ticket in Texas for it in the windshield.... It must be securely mounted on the bumper.... Don't ask me how I know 😂😂😅😂
@VelvetSerpent Same with California... issue is my 69 Beetle doesn't have its bumpers when I bought it, and I'm sure wherever they are, the old front plate is attached to it.
I forgot all about the front plate when I was at the DMV registering the car last month after I bought it so now I get to go back to report the missing plate and then figure out how to mount the plate. Don't have the money to buy repop bumpers right now and was thinking about getting t bars instead (cheaper) and that means drilling holes under the front trunk lid or on one of the fenders which I really don't want to do to the old car.

LOL this should get an award for the most overly complicated way to do something simple. The video should have been 14 seconds long. 2 self tapping screws into the plastic. Done!
Heat gun? 3 step pilot drilling, to drill an 1/8 inch hole in plastic?? Oops I mean 9/64ths!

Sorry, ain't happening! I am NOT drilling holes in the body of my vehicle & my Honda doesn't have predrilled holes from the factory.
How else would holes be made

Yeah bud you can drill holes in your wheels. But in the Home Depot you an find something called double sided tape( strong one) which cost less than 5 bucks. Try that next time. No big job to fix. Peace
