I found a cross referance for 2018 and up wrx sti's oil filter with a Larger filter with a close bypass pressure 20x1.5 thread with same gasket and a 21 micron filter rating a wix 50755 the Original filter is a 30psi and 50 micron and pretty small for the engine size and interval
I tried motul 8100 xcess 5w40 on my 2020 sti once and my dam immediately dropped. Pulled timing like a mofo. I thiught it was bad gas because ive never seen anythinf like it. It wasnt the bad gas, i drained the oil and swapped it back to my usual redline 5w30 and dam immediately returned to normal right away. My tuner was completely baffled and so was i lol
It’s well known in the Subaru community EJ’s like Motul. Especially when you go up in weight to like a 5w40. Probably one of the most used oils for the platform. Not to say there aren’t others you can use like Moly, but Motul is most reputable for WRX/STi
@@nolanmarketti hello sir my sti EJ267 400whp use redline 0w40 or 5w40 on street have any risk? sometime 6k+rpm(not often) should l use 50or60 oil? thank for you answer
New stock Subies are specced with 0-20 oil and that has me concerned. My gut says 5w-20 or higher for moderate climates. Any known recommendations would be appreciated.

Just started using royal purple 5w-30
I used motul for years. Have to stop now that its price has gotten out of hand. Switching to Valvoline as its gonna be fine for daily driver

great video, learned a lot👍
Thanks for watching!
I’m confused.. one minute he was turning the fumoto oil drain valve.. the next he was putting in a new standard drain plug???
It was drained first then replace with a regular plug (I’m lowered now)
3:47 yeah I dont recommend doing that unless you want a BIG gouge and possible leaking....
10w30 Valvoline vr1 and wix xp oil filter
why motul? why not liquimoly or amsoil?

@@nolanmarketti one more question would it be ok to run 5w 40 on a stock sti? Or is this just for tuned engines
@@goo_2gleMines stock and I switched to 5w40. I’ll use 5w30 for winter and cold weather and switch back to 5w40 in summer heat.

1:50 are you saying 400 whp range and a little above does not require a viscosity oil higher than 5w30?
He's talking about 5w40 (thicker oil). The Xcess Gen2 is a 5w40 weight.

@@杨汉雄I used 5W-40 on my V4 Aprilia superbike motor…it ran hot and I felt safe using it in stop and go traffic in Texas
Did you guys take a fumoto valve off during this oil change?
I did replace it, since I was lowered on coilovers. Stock ride hide I'd put it back on for sure.

The new platform I'm unfamiliar with. If it's stock though, sticking the the typical recommended weight is probably more than fine.
8100 clean is junk, has one of the highest wear oils...research
thats not what the subaru community says , its one of the best and best at keeping the oil temps lower not sure what ur saying LOL .
