I have just seen the easiest and quickest way to tie the FG. Great explanation Thank you. I noticed in the comments that people were talking about light line classes slipping off the leader. Any knot will give out if not tied properly. I also use a Slim Beauty Knot with 6lb Suffix line and 4lb fluorocarbon and have never had this knot fail even while catching 6kg Snapper offshore. One test of a good knot is that it can successfully be tied while in a rocking boat out at sea. Practice at home a half a dozen times on any new knot until you are confident that it is tied correctly that way you won't lose that fish of a lifetime.
Adrian Sabga Great question! Although I have not yet used the FG for a really big/strong fish like a marlin, I believe that the risk of the leader getting cut due to the braid's compression is low. The reason I say this is because the compression zone is spread across the entire length of the knot (which is a much longer and more evenly spread than most other knots). When going after big game, it may be wise to use more wraps to spend the load across an even greater area. Please keep us posted to your results in marlin fishing with the FG knot. Fish On!
Salt Strong Yep, FG knots work fine on marlin. I got a large striped marlin near Bermagui, Australia, this (southern) summer.Over 100kg, and the fight took 1 hour and 48 minutes. With a 150lb wind on mono leader joined to 60lb braid via the FG knot. After landing the fish the FG knot was in perfect health. I left it in place ready for the next marlin.
This is the best knot ever!! My new bass rod has micro guides and I'm running 50lb braid to a 15lb mono leader. The Uni not was to big for the rod guides so I tried this FG knot and wow as long as you tie it correctly and with a brain that's not slick like spyderwire or fireline. Standard power pro is best with this knot. You can put 100% in this knot. I never had that much trust in my line splices before. Plus this knot looks great! I would say there is no such thing as to many wraps but I would say 20-30 would be more than enough for any gamefish. Even saltwater
thanks for the tutorial, after a little practice I learned this knot! it helped me land a great largemouth for my area at 5lb 6oz. it also helped me place 2nd in the tourney and win the big bass trophy. thanks again.
What kind of person would give this video a thumbs down? This is a game changer! Thank you for sharing this. Braid to Flouro has always been a tedious process. this is as simple as falling out of a boat!

This explanation of the FG knot is by far the best and distinctive video for tying this knot. Great job of explaining. All other ways are gimmicks and crazy finger gymnastics! Thank you
ive just watched your video on how to do the FG knot and ive tried many other knots from small braid to small mono lines and this knot is superior to the rest. Thank you very much for posting this knot for all of us to learn.
Thank you for this great tutorial! Fantastic knot. I have tried this knot on Spiderwire and J BRAID with 40lb Seaguar FXR fluoro and it works perfectly. It is going through the guides so much better than 2x uni or any other knot I have tried so far.
@@arturoalvirdeiii3086 yes a swivel will not go through your eyes. You have to use this knot or one comparable if u want your line/ leader to travel through the eyes properly. I personally use a swivel for a fluke or a trick worm sometimes (carolina rig uses a swivel also). Going braid to fluro...But the swivel connected to my leader would only be about 12-15 inches long and not go through my eyes. I like the swivel for that purpose because flukes dont twist the line and the swivel almost looks like a baitfish behind it. But using this knot gives you the ability to use braid for finesse purposes. You get the strength of braid with invisibility of flurocarbon. It's a game changer for bass fishing
I finally understand how to tie it. Thanks! I've been using uni to uni so far for this and a uni knot at the swivel. Just found this channel and your website and I'm in the process of going through all the stuff. Very helpful!
Thanks for demonstrating this knot. After I watched it the second time, it just clicked and now I'm tying it like a pro. Seeing it done this way made it easy!
Duke Bevard My pleasure, Duke. Thanks for leaving the nice comment. I'm glad to see that you're tying the FG knot like a pro now. I hope you catch some huge fish while using it very soon. Fish On!
Hey Matthew, thanks for the comment. Yes, this knot is very strong. I tested the 10 lb braid connection to 30 lb fluorocarbon leader with this knot on a scale, and the breaking range was from 20 to 23 lbs... so it technically proved to be a 200% knot if measuring from the rating of the 10 lb braided line. Regardless of %, it beat the others in our head-to-head match ups of the most popular line to line knots.
This method is outstanding. I was looking for a method of light lines and leaders. I watched the video, tied 6 knots ,and went fishing. No problems at all. Tied one out on the water, no problems. Love it!
ok Aloha SaltStrong, Well i had rigged my 9' Ugly Stick with 10 lb Mono main line, FG knot connecting 25 Mono main line. well i just went out for a little fishing trip and I caught an O'io aka Bone Fish around 7 to 8 lbs, (they fight really hard though feels more than they weigh) i mean this guy took out some line i would say about a good 50 to 60 yards easy, that FG Knot held and actually made my line even stronger. Thank you Very Much for this great Video. I will post on your website. again thank you very much.
I'm definitely back to this method of tying the FG knot. This method (imho) has the tightest packed wraps and least margin of error of the many methods of FG knots being demonstrated for use today. Proven to me to be the most optimum way of obtaining the best results when strong fish challenge this casting knot. Thanks !!!!! BOL to Ya....
Strange. My understanding has always been that super glue is a poor adhesive for polyethylene polymers. I believe that most all braided fishing lines are Polyethylene.
The FG knot is definitely way better when it comes to the strength and thinness, but I still use the double uni because its still very strong and sufficient, but mainly its way easier to tie and not mess up, especially when you're using 10lb braid and 10lb leader.
+Jedhaase If you're looking for a quick knot that is also very strong, I recommend giving the Surgeon's knot a try... it proved to be stronger than the double uni in my testing, and it's one of the fastest/easiest knots to tie. Here's a link to a knot test I did on the surgeon's knot that made me start using it in place of the double uni: www.saltstrong.com/articles/surgeons-knot/
+Jedhaase Cool. The double uni is still of course a good choice... but this surgeon's knot shocked me with how strong it is while being such a simple and easy knot.
I have watched many people teach the tying of this knot and by far your video version is the BEST, simple and effective wat to tie this FG on a boat, on shore, heck anywhere... Fantastic job - Oh I've switched over to this knot and yes it is strong hasn't failed me yet! Thanks a bunch...
Have seen and practiced various ways of tying this knot. IMHO this manner demonstrated here is by far the simplest and best way possible. Thanks for the demo...
it doesnt work too well with lighter line does it? I tried it 5 times with 6lb braid to 6lb flouro. tested out the knot today with jig head on log and it gave in. the flouro totally slipping out from the brauded coils
+Sean Chang I don't know why it wouldn't work with light braid, so my guess is that the diameter of that light mono is too close to that of the braid... the braid must be much smaller in order to dig groves into the outer layer of the mono. I always use a leader that is at least 2x the rated strength of my leader (ex. - 10 lb braid to 20 lb leader). Also, I've heard from several people that it doesn't work well with some of the super slick braided lines (I always use Powerpro). Hopefully that helps... Fish On!
Yur probly right on that. I use suffix advanced 832 6lb braid and it might just be that it slips through too easy with this kind of braid. I use 6 to 8lb flouro with this braid
it works for me with thin lines, so it should for you. BUT you have to tie it really carefully, those light lines don't forgive mistakes. you will need at least 30-35 wraps (of each end of the braid), you will need to ensure that they stay tight and compact and you will need to lock the coils with something more reliable than a half-hitch, for example, a few uni knots. I find the method of tying it with relaxed braid and tightening the coils after every 3-5 wraps easier in this case. in addition, it's preferable not to let the knot go through the guides when casting or retrieving. I have found it to be losing its strength pretty quickly if that happens.
I used this video to learn the FG knot about 7 years ago. I used to have to come back to watch it about 10 times but now it's locked in my knot memory bank!! Perfectly explained. I always point other anglers to this vid! Thanks.
The only way I would improve this is to use a knot puller tool when tightening down the knot! If you are using heavy line (where the FG comes into its own) you will not be able to break the lines no matter how hard you pull.
OK, that is just bad ass!!! I was instantly reminded of the Chinese finger traps I used to play with as a kid. This clearly works on exactly the same principle. Whoever thought this up is a freaking Genius!!!
I seen this how to vid a couple years ago now and never really got around to leaving a comment. All i can say is this way of tying the FG is so easy and the knot is very strong. Definitely worth taking the time to learn the FG. I've never looked back. Thx mate
Absolutely the best floro to braid knot and if you're using a long leader, the FG knot goes thru your guides easily... Been using the FG knot for a few years now...
I do a lot of LBSF an I have always had problems with attaching braid to mono. This is by far one of the best knots I've seen. I am going to try this this season. Thanks for the awesome video
I bought some braid yesterday I am new to sea fishing and I wanted the best knot to join my 60lb leader to my 30lb braid.I tried a double uni not first and started casting but the knot rattled the rod eyes so I Googled the best knot and saw yours.I have tied the FG knot today and went fishing this morning to try it out.Its a brilliant knot..went through the rings very smooth. I got the hook snagged and the rod was really bending the hook would not free itself. I really started pulling so as the free the hook and thought the knot would break..guess what it didn't I was amazed how strong that knot is and the hook snapped. Thanks for the ex video very easy to tie this knot the way you show it. I will not be afraid to use this knot ever ..knowing how strong it is . Thank again best regards James.

I’ve been using this knot for a few years and dread tying it on the boat when needed. This particular way of tying it is so much easier and faster with no worries if it was done correctly. Thanks for sharing!
after some double uni knot fails on a recent fishing trip, a friend suggested i look up this knot. thanks for posting this video! I'll be using this knot in the future
I’ve tried this know over and over , seen 20 videos and never could get a good one . This helped tremendously, I watched 3 times then just went and did this know on 4 set ups I have ! Ty
So glad to see that you enjoyed this FG knot tutorial! Here's a link to our master knot list where they are ranked on strength for the various connections and line types in case you haven't yet seen it: www.saltstrong.com/articles/fishing-knots/
I tried to tie this knot a few times in the past with poor results. Your example using the mono instead of the braid simplified the knot tying process. I was still unsure of the knot, but had a good field test tackling some Amberjack and Bonita with some vertical jigs. The knot held well and slipped the guides with ease. Thank You!
Glad to see that you're enjoying the FG knot! Thanks for letting us know how you've done with it... bonita and amberjack sure are good fish to ensure that knots are strong. Tight Lines!
I am teaching myself to fish with lure so I needed a knot I could tie braid to mono- this is the knot I now use. Little tricky to start with but now I have down. Instead of putting the braid in my mouth to get tension I put my rod somewhere like a set of shelves or a tree if I'm out fishing, and I have a small glass herb jar that I put the braid into and secure the lid, the weight of the jar gives the tension. I will even put the jar inside my shorts leg to stop it from moving. I find the the easiest way to do it, now the knot takes me about a minute to tie. With the small tag end I put a tiny bit of super glue to keep it down flat. Great knot- now I just have to practice practice. Still yet to catch a fish on a lure!!
+drop kick I'm glad to see that you're enjoying the FG knot. If you're targeting redfish, snook, or trout with artificials, then be sure to read this post because it explains the 3 breakthroughs that I had when switching from live bait to artificial only: www.saltstrong.com/articles/how-to-catch-redfish-snook-trout/
I've watched soooo many videos on tying this knot with very little success. THANK YOU for making it plain and simple to learn. I'm a pro at tying these babies now!!
I've been using this method from this video and a rarely loose fish the last 3 years. Make sure you since it down, the wraps will turn translucent all the way through. Also if you have the bigger eyelids check out the Briggsy way as well. The knotted tag end helps prevent unraveling. Cheers!
I'm a brand NEWBIE to using braid and this morning my doubled double uni connection between 10 lb.braid and 15 lb. fluorocarbon leader failed when I snagged a jig and when attempting to yank it free I broke loose. Upon reeling in I found the nice twists of braid less all of the fluorocarbon which apparently pulled loose. I retested my other rod and that knot is holding firm with a 15 lb. braid to 20 lb. mono connection. That's how I came upon this video and I found it to be straightforward and easy to follow and understand HOWEVER I had difficulty with the teeth vise for tension AND SUBSTITUTED the tooth hold technique with my shirt button. I simply wrapped my buttoned up shirt button with a few wraps of the braid from my rod, I then followed all of these directions and the result seems to be seriously thin and as strong as I wished to pull on without cutting myself. I found it to be easier to manipulate the line when it was not so close to my face. Wrap your button and see for your self.
I used this knot for several years offshore with absolutely no break offs at the knot. Your method is much simpler and I like it. It's much faster too!
For what it's worth, I have found this technique the best way for me to tie this knot, as I am always tying smaller diameter line. All the "no tension" techniques may work for larger diameter lines, but not so much for the smaller diameter. I have modified the technique somewhat to better suit me, as I have a hard time seeing what I am doing when I put the main line between my teeth. Instead, I put the butt of the rod between my legs and and sit on the handle, with the rod tip pointed straight away. I tie the tag end of the main line to a carabiner or other such mechanism that I can hook to my belt loop. This puts my hands in a more natural position to lay down the wraps and I can see what I'm doing. After laying down the wraps, I hold the knot between my fingers in one hand, while with the other, I take my scissors(which I have within reach) and snip the braid at the carabiner to release the tension on the line. Then I proceed to tie my 1/2 hitches and finish the knot. The first time I tried this way, I could not believe how fast the process went. One critical point to keep in mind--every time you wrap the leader line over the main line, be sure to pull it out straight and snug before you proceed to the next wrap. Without that attention to detail, the leader line can, and probably will, pull out of the knot when you go to tighten the knot. Tight lines!
Managers Navutu Stars Resort We're thrilled to see that you enjoyed this FG knot video! Thanks so much for making time to leave a comment! We hope to hear from you again soon. Fish On!
This video got me started using this knot- I made one adjustment that locks this knot for me- in the winding of the flouro or mono line after about 10 loops i throw in two half hitch loops with the leader line. locks down every time- no slip no matter what. this addition adds nothing negative to the knot - no thicker. I'm using this to to attach a 10lb leader to 20lb braid. That wasn't recommended but it works- especially using the extra half hitch knots tied int he middle. I've tested it many times and it doesn't slip or break.
The absolute best demonstration and technique I have seen to tie the FG knot. I love this knot because it is strong and small, but I have struggled to use it because it is difficult to tie. Well no more....with your technique it is super easy. Thanks so much!
ncmedic45 Thanks so much for making time to leave a comment! We're thrilled to see that you enjoyed this FG knot video, and we hope to hear from you again soon. Fish On!
Thank you for a great simplified method of tying this complex knot. I destructive tested my rig (80 Spectra to 100 mono) a couple of times and found that it always failed at the FG knot. I found that by heating up the end of the mono with a lighter after knot was tied and creating a small ball at end of the leader as close as possible to the finishing wraps prevents the loops from sliding over under an extreme load. I also left a small tail with a figure eight knot at the end of the braid. Destructively retesting my rig the knot held and the figure eight at end of braid was sucked in tight into the knot. The rig failed at the #8 split ring which pulled apart, however the knot held. Maybe a wee bit bumpier entering rod but noticeably stronger.
I made the previous comment about the 10/2 invisibraid to the 6 berkley flourocarbon. The FGknot worked much better when I changed my flourocarbon to 10 lb test. No need to reply. Thanks and the instruction is very good.
liked the way you showed it over the way others have shown it with wrapping the main line instead of the leader line. Tying with the main line made it more difficult to keep the wrappings nice, neat, and tight.
Our pleasure Brad! If you need help with knots, then be sure to check out this post which ranks the knots based on how well they do for specific connections: www.saltstrong.com/articles/fishing-knots/
+Jesse Knight Yes, the surgeon's knot is a very strong knot so good choice. I tested it out against the FG knot and it held much better than others I tested, but the FG tested out to be stronger for braid to fluoro.
+Cherie Porter Hey Cherie, thanks so much for making time to leave the nice comment! I hope you catch some huge fish while using the FG knot soon... Fish On!

Thank you for the concise video! I used this to tie FG knots for the first time last year, and just tied the first 2 of this year's season. I like using braid, yet wanted a flouro leader. This fit the bill!
This is the best way to tie the FG knot that I have come across, thanks for the awesome video. My only problem is getting those final couple of hitch knots nice and tight. They always seem to slide up, leaving some space between coils and stopper knots.
Wanting to try running braid/flouro combo on one of my spinning setups... and this video is exactly what I needed... the easiest way I've seen to tie this beast of a knot. Cheers man. Thank you much
Thanks so much for making time to leave the nice comment on this FG knot video! I'm glad to see that it was helpful to you. Hope you catch some monsters while using it soon. Tight Lines!
I have tried all methods I came across, and this method is the best even for small leader and braid. The beauty of this method is that it frees two hands to manipulate the mono line. Also in my opinion, FG knot has the best strength while the knot size is small.
Thanks so much for making time to leave the nice comment!!! Had I known it was going to get that many views, I would have spent more time practicing... this was my first time being solo in front of a camera like that for a lesson, so I was very nervous.
The ft knot is superb. I was just thinking of a knot that the floro is on top of the braid since it's a lot more abrasion resistant. Thanks for commenting back I'll play around with it hopefully not at the expense of my spoolteks.
I have been looking for a good braid to mono knot for ages, this takes the cake! Props to you man, very clearly explained and good close up camera work too. Great vid.

Hey Blair, thanks so much for leaving such a nice comment. We're absolutely thrilled to see that you enjoyed this video about the FG knot. Keep up the great work... we're huge fans of your Addictive Fishing show!!!
Salt Strong pretty cool that blair posted :O) love Addictive Fishing! .. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and go to florida every may and learning and love to fish for snook, these videos are very helpful.. subscribed!
2013brzsubaru Yes, we're excited and grateful that Blair, you, and so many others have made time to leave comments on this video... we certainly did not expect such awesome feedback! How cool that you come on down to FL so often. We hope you catch some big ones this May. Fish On!
This explanation of the FG knot is by far the best and distinctive video for tying this knot. Great job of explaining. All other ways are gimmicks and crazy finger gymnastics! Thank you
wow that's the best knot ever and ty for sharing !! I'll be using it this spring from braid to flouro with my size 4 micro spinning guides
ive just watched your video on how to do the FG knot and ive tried many other knots from small braid to small mono lines and this knot is superior to the rest.
Awesome news! Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment on this FG knot video. Fish On!
Hey man do you use this knot instead of using a swivel?
Fish On!
This knot is great for my baitcaster rod which has microguides. Knot slides through much better then double uni
@Larry Bulthouse because you usually need a long leader.
Larry Bulthouse Shock leader.. so the guides don’t put a fray in your braid if your casting out heavy leads or lures
Brilliant I have used an albright knot for 34 yrs, until now. I tested the strength of this knot with scales. Its 100% . Thank you.
First outing with this knot, I landed my pb, hard-fighting hybrid striper. The knot proved its strength...and apparently brought me a little luck.
Awesome report! Glad to see that you caught a nice bonefish while using the FG knot. Keep up the great catching!
Mono to mono work good?
I'm definitely back to this method of tying the FG knot. This method (imho) has the tightest packed wraps and least margin of error of the many methods of FG knots being demonstrated for use today. Proven to me to be the most optimum way of obtaining the best results when strong fish challenge this casting knot.
Thanks !!!!! BOL to Ya....
First time i tried it pulled right out when cinching it down.
The second time it held.
I did drop a bit of superglue on the knot.
I was wondering about a couple drops of super glue myself.
Strange. My understanding has always been that super glue is a poor adhesive for polyethylene polymers. I believe that most all braided fishing lines are Polyethylene.
When done right, you definitely don't need super glue, this knot is very strong
After watching several how to FG knot videos, this was by far the most clear & easy to follow. Thanks much!
Nice! I still prefer the double uni knot though. Its sufficient and 10 times easier to tie.
Nowhere near is strong though mate. I used to tie double Uni knots before learning the fg. No comparison
Salt Strong Thanks, I actually think I'm going to start using that knot now
+Jedhaase Cool.
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment David. Glad to see that you enjoyed this FG knot tutorial. Fish On!
You say its the strongest knot out there. Which other knots did you test it against?
Have seen and practiced various ways of tying this knot. IMHO this manner demonstrated here is by far the simplest and best way possible. Thanks for the demo...
Thanks for the kind words John! Glad to see that you enjoyed this FG knot tutorial. Fish On!
it doesnt work too well with lighter line does it?
Sean Chang I have the same problem and just commented about it.
not true, i use it for 4lb mono line to 10 lb braid
I used this video to learn the FG knot about 7 years ago. I used to have to come back to watch it about 10 times but now it's locked in my knot memory bank!! Perfectly explained. I always point other anglers to this vid! Thanks.
The only way I would improve this is to use a knot puller tool when tightening down the knot! If you are using heavy line (where the FG comes into its own) you will not be able to break the lines no matter how hard you pull.
That is awesome! Glad it has been a good resource for you. And thanks for the feedback!
QUICKEST?? Wow, that's still a lot of work.
Your demonstration was great. Easy to understand and follow. Tied the FG first time and it worked great. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks Daniel!
Why is it my knot is running up the braid, instead of down the leader like yours?
Lil Benny this happens to me also, have you figured out why? Help!
Thx mate
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment on this video Graham! We are thrilled to see that you are enjoying this method of tying the FG knot.
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment. Glad to see that you enjoyed this FG knot tutorial video. Tight Lines!
Hey James, thanks so much for sharing your great story with the community! We're thrilled to see that you're enjoying the FG knot. How cool that your hook snapped when trying to free your hook from the snag. We hope to hear from you again soon. Fish On!
Thanks I plan on abunch of Ocean fishing this winter and need these skills.
Best knot out there!
Absolutely hands down, this is the best video on tying the FG knot that I've seen. Thank you.
Thanks David!!!
best example of the fg knot that ive seen. thanks alot, makes tying this knot really easy.
Hey Lindy, thanks so much for leaving such a nice comment. We're glad that you enjoyed this FG knot video and we hope to hear from you again soon. Fish On!
Best demo for tying FG Knot...simple and easy to follow. Thanks
This knot is exactly what i was looking for thanks guys.
Hey Juan, thanks so much for leaving a nice comment. We're thrilled that you enjoyed this video on the FG knot. We hope you catch some monster fish while using this knot in your system very soon. Fish On!
Outstanding. This is the first one that has worked for me using light line. It worked great here in my recliner now can I do it on the water.
I’ve been using this knot for a few years and dread tying it on the boat when needed. This particular way of tying it is so much easier and faster with no worries if it was done correctly. Thanks for sharing!
Very glad to see that you're enjoying the FG knot video!
after some double uni knot fails on a recent fishing trip, a friend suggested i look up this knot.
thanks for posting this video! I'll be using this knot in the future
This is the only demo of this knot I have ever been able to understand! Thank you! 👍
This by far was the best example of this FG knot !!!
Thanks Craig! Glad to see that you enjoyed this FG knot video.
Hands down, best video on TH-cam about the FG knot.
Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words, Jeremy!
By far the best tutorial of the FG knot on TH-cam. Thanks man.
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment on this FG knot video. Fish On!
I've watched soooo many videos on tying this knot with very little success. THANK YOU for making it plain and simple to learn. I'm a pro at tying these babies now!!
You are so welcome!
Finally an easy instructional video on a knot that has always eluded me. Thanks guys.
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment! Glad to see that you enjoyed this FG knot video.
Great idea! Thanks for sharing the FG knot tension trick.
Great job explaining that FG knot. It’s easy an reliable when fighting larger fish.
Thanks Israel! Glad to see that you enjoyed this FG knot tutorial. Fish On!
I used this knot for several years offshore with absolutely no break offs at the knot. Your method is much simpler and I like it. It's much faster too!
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment Dannie! Glad to see that you enjoyed this FG knot video.
Thanks for making time to leave the helpful comment Marty! That sounds like an effective way to tie the FG knot.
This is such a good video of how to produce the FG knot. It's like watching art being made.
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment John! Glad to see that you enjoyed this fg knot video.
This is an awesome demo on this knot!....no more hassles and mind boggling sequences and 5 page layouts....very cool thanks!
Managers Navutu Stars Resort We're thrilled to see that you enjoyed this FG knot video! Thanks so much for making time to leave a comment! We hope to hear from you again soon. Fish On!
Great knot, I practiced tying this knot in the garage and I can now tie this knot on a rocking boat..!
We're glad to see that you're enjoying the FG knot. Yes, with some practice, it can be tied in a rocking boat and even in the dark.
Best tutorial out and the easiest way to learn the FG knot massive thumbs up to you Salt Strong🖒👌👌👌👌👌
Thanks so much for making time to leave the nice comment. So glad to see that you enjoyed this FG knot tutorial video. Fish On!
I made the previous comment about the 10/2 invisibraid to the 6 berkley flourocarbon. The FGknot worked much better when I changed my flourocarbon to 10 lb test. No need to reply. Thanks and the instruction is very good.
Going to Portsmouth island this weekend. I can’t wait to try this knot out!
liked the way you showed it over the way others have shown it with wrapping the main line instead of the leader line. Tying with the main line made it more difficult to keep the wrappings nice, neat, and tight.
thanks for the great tutorial. I am terrible at knots, so this video helps me get it down.
Our pleasure Brad! If you need help with knots, then be sure to check out this post which ranks the knots based on how well they do for specific connections: www.saltstrong.com/articles/fishing-knots/
I like the surgeon for loop knot, line-line, dropper rig, and for connecting a heavy leader to a light main line. Tight lines ✌️
+Jesse Knight Yes, the surgeon's knot is a very strong knot so good choice. I tested it out against the FG knot and it held much better than others I tested, but the FG tested out to be stronger for braid to fluoro.
great video and by far the best and easiest to follow how to video of the fg knot I have seen, thank you from new zealand
+Cherie Porter Hey Cherie, thanks so much for making time to leave the nice comment! I hope you catch some huge fish while using the FG knot soon... Fish On!
A very direct, simplified, and well explained process of a knot. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment Topwater Tom! So glad to see that you enjoyed this FG knot video.
Just tied this knot for the first time! Actually pretty easy! Can’t wait to go try it out 😎 Thanks SaltStrong!!
Thanks for the video! Good explanation. I've been looking for a knot exactly like this one for using heavy leaders for tarpon that will go through the guides smoothly. I just tried the know through the guides- looks great so far.
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment on this FG Knot video. I hope you enjoy using this strong knot as much as we do. Tight Lines!
Been using this knot for years..quick,simple&strong..!!excellent review !!
Ben Statham Hey Ben, thanks so much for leaving the nice comment. We're glad to see that you enjoyed this FG knot review video, and we wish you the very best on your next day out on the water. Fish On!
u r welcome :) FISH ON !!
Well titled. This was, for me, the best video om the FG knot. Thanks
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment! Glad to see that you enjoyed this FG knot video.
You guys are the best, I really appreciate all that you do with tips etc, and just how you promote fishing. Thank you for all that you do. Best wishes.
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment John!
Thank you for the concise video! I used this to tie FG knots for the first time last year, and just tied the first 2 of this year's season. I like using braid, yet wanted a flouro leader. This fit the bill!
Good presentation, straight to the point and with out all the unnecessary verbal chatter that I see on other youtube posts.
This is the best way to tie the FG knot that I have come across, thanks for the awesome video. My only problem is getting those final couple of hitch knots nice and tight. They always seem to slide up, leaving some space between coils and stopper knots.
Just tied one and it looks great. Very low profile. Can't wait to try casting it through the guides...
This is the best instructional video for the fg knot, imo.
Thanks for the kind words Dixson! Glad to see that you enjoyed this FG knot video.
I have tried all methods I came across, and this method is the best even for small leader and braid. The beauty of this method is that it frees two hands to manipulate the mono line.
Also in my opinion, FG knot has the best strength while the knot size is small.
Great explanation and demonstration ! Thankyou 😀
Thanks for watching!
2.6 million views is insane for a knot demo. But it IS the best knot demo I've ever seen✨
Thanks so much for making time to leave the nice comment!!! Had I known it was going to get that many views, I would have spent more time practicing... this was my first time being solo in front of a camera like that for a lesson, so I was very nervous.
Great video I’m going to try this method , don’t know if I’ll like it more than the modified crazy Alberto but I’m going to try it lol
The ft knot is superb. I was just thinking of a knot that the floro is on top of the braid since it's a lot more abrasion resistant. Thanks for commenting back I'll play around with it hopefully not at the expense of my spoolteks.
Thanks for your great videos, will be using this knot to chase Greenbacks in Australia !
I have been looking for a good braid to mono knot for ages, this takes the cake! Props to you man, very clearly explained and good close up camera work too. Great vid.
+sosomasocoma Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment. We hope you catch some great fish while using the FG knot soon!
